Janet Jackson Blamed For Laptop Crashes
Janet Jackson’s 1989 hit “Rhythm Nation” is too much for some laptops to handle. Microsoft’s principal software engineer Raymond Chen revealed on his blog Tuesday that the song has the same frequency as some older model laptops’ hard drives — called a resonate frequency, which is the natural frequency of an object. It can cause laptops to shut off. It’s comparable to how glass shatters when exposed to certain sounds. Chen reported that an unnamed “major computer manufacturer” figured this out when nearby computers surrounding the one playing the song crashed. “I would not have wanted to be in the laboratory that they must have set up to investigate this problem. Not an artistic judgement,” Chen wrote in his blog. “It turns out that the song contained one of the natural resonant frequencies for the model of 5400 rpm laptop hard drives that they and other manufacturers used,” according to Chen. However, Chen said manufacturers added a “custom filter in the audio pipeline that detected and removed the offending frequencies during audio playback,” which resolved the bug.
********That’s weird… our BRAIN shuts off when we hear that song!!!

HBO Max Crashes
The premiere of the eagerly awaited Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon, crashed the HBO Max app for at least 3,000 subscribers Sunday night. The HBO support team told people having trouble watching the first episode: “We’re aware some users may be encountering issues at the moment. Please try closing the app and restarting to see if this helps. Reach back out right away if you still have trouble.” The cable network said in a statement that House of the Dragon was “successfully viewed by millions of HBO Max subscribers” Sunday evening. “We’re aware of a small portion of users attempting to connect via Fire TV devices that are having issues and are in the process of resolving for those impacted users,” the statement said. The show is based on George R.R. Martin’s book, Fire & Blood, which chronicles the history of House Targaryen and takes place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
******Does that mean we get a rebate on our subscription?? No???
*******Do realize what this means?? Neither do we!!!

Casey Affleck’s Wedding Absence Explained
After speculation surrounding his notable absence at brother Ben Affleck’s wedding, Casey Affleck’s girlfriend, Caylee Cowan, may have provided some insight as to why he was not in attendance. Casey shared to his Instagram a 2002 paparazzi photo of the trio, writing to Jennifer Lopez and Ben, “Welcome to the family. Get ready for some real dysfunction! Kidding. I am kidding.” He went on to say, “Jen, you are a gem. We love you so much!!!” He added a red heart emoji. In a since deleted comment under the post, Cowan wrote, “Hey, if you weren’t in town to take Atty to soccer practice, then who would’ve helped the kid who broke his arm? You’re a good man. I love you.” Atty, or Atticus, is Affleck’s 14-year-old son who he shares with Summer Phoenix, sister to both Joaquin and the late River Phoenix. It is unclear why Cowan deleted the comment, but she praised her boyfriend for reportedly helping an injured child. A source had previously revealed that Affleck could not attend the Georgia extravaganza “because of family, parental obligations at home,” per People magazine.
********Yeah.. taking your kid to soccer practice is a GREAT excuse!!!
*******Let’s go back to the fact that this kid has a SCARY uncle!!!

Hugh Hefner Was A Sloppy Hoarder
Ex-Playboy bunnies Bridget Marquardt and Holly Madison are unveiling secrets of the late Hugh Hefner and his “hoarder-style” bedroom. There, he allegedly made his harem of women feel like “pieces of meat” during drug-fueled orgies. “I was shocked at how messy it was,” Marquardt said of Hef’s lair in the Playboy Mansion on her and Madison’s new podcast “Girls Next Level.” The episode, titled “In The Bedroom…” aired Monday. “We walked in and it was just a disaster in there. The lights were out, but there were two giant TV screens in there that were playing porn… There’s just so much junk,” she added. “Then you get in [his room] and there’s vibrators all over the bed,” Marquardt went on, “I’d never used a vibrator before.” Madison agreed, likening his chambers to that of a hoarder — someone who suffers from a psychological disorder that causes them to compulsively and excessively collect and store items. “It was just hoarder-style,” she said. “Imagine thinking you’re this big player and you’re bringing all these girls home, and your room looks like s- – t,” Madison continued. “It’s like the weird eccentric millionaire version of the guy with the mattress on the floor and a ‘Pulp Fiction’ poster.”
*********He was like Howard Hughes.. with a sex addiction!!
*******In his defense, it’s hard to keep things tidy when you’re having sex 24 hours a day!!

Ben Affleck Flies Off With Matt Damon
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon jetted off together Sunday instead of Affleck honeymooning with Jennifer Lopez after the couple’s second wedding. They were spotted getting into a private jet with Ben’s three children at an airport in Georgia. Affleck looked exhausted following the three-day wedding celebration as he loaded his friends and family onto the aircraft. Damon was also joined by his wife, Luciana Barroso, with whom he flew into Georgia last week. Affleck’s kids, Violet, 16, Seraphina, 13, and Samuel, 10, were also dressed in cozy clothing for the flight. He shares the trio with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, who did not attend due to a reported scheduling conflict. Affleck’s younger brother, Casey Affleck, did not attend the wedding because he apparently had to take his son Atticus, 14, to soccer practice.
*********Jennifer Garner had a previous engagement.. at Walmart!! You’ve seen those pictures, right??
******Now that he’s married to J Lo, he can have his honeymoon with Matt!!

Alligator Takes A Dip!
Sheriff’s deputies in Florida responded to a home for a situation that wasn’t part of their academy training — an alligator swimming in a pool. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that deputies responded to an east Orange County home on Thursday when the homeowner called to report an alligator was swimming in her backyard pool. “Oh, he’s just chilling,” Deputy Jonathan Hill says in the video of the capture. The sheriff’s office said the alligator was safely relocated to the St. John’s River. “They didn’t go over this in the academy,” Hill said in the Facebook post. See the video HERE.

Escaped Bull Runs Thru Building
A bull escaped from its pen early Monday, setting off a panicked scene in the streets of a central Israeli city before entering an office building and evading capture for half an hour as it scampered through the hallways. Bank Leumi said the bull entered its offices in an industrial zone in the city of Lod, near Tel Aviv. Amateur videos showed residents scurrying for safety as the bull roamed the streets. Several cars appear to have been damaged, and the bull nearly gored one man who got too close. Inside the building, the animal slid around the tiled floors as it ran through a hallway with several men chasing it. The men unsuccessfully attempted to capture it with a makeshift lasso — a piece of rope that quickly frayed. After being chased out of the bank offices, the bull was tranquilized by city veterinary employees and taken from the area.

Vegans No Longer Served
A restaurant in the U.K. has decided to stop catering to vegans because its owners were apparently fed up with their “holier-than-thou” attitude. The Kitchen at London House on the Isle Wight said it posted its new vegan-less menu for the owners’ new restaurant and received swift backlash. “[S]ome nasty people have felt it’s their place and right to criticize this fact,” the restaurant wrote in a Facebook post. “You have to ask yourself, do you think that bullying someone is going to endear them to you? Is it going to make them rethink their decision…maybe I should? NO it does not!” The restaurant said it had catered to vegans in the past, offering everything from vegan cream teas to special vegan bacon. “We stopped. Why? Because we got fed up with the arrogant, ‘holier-than-thou attitude,’” the restaurant wrote. The owners chided vegans for expecting a restaurant to adapt its menu to suit their preferences, noting that if they had gone to a vegan restaurant, they wouldn’t expect to be served a steak. “You have chosen your lifestyle, it’s not a medical condition that you’ve been forced to endure through no fault of your own,” the restaurant said. “Your choice does not fit with our style of cooking. We respect your choice, and expect that you respect ours.”
********That won’t work with those people!!
*****It’s odd, but it always seems that vegans are out for BLOOD!!!

How To Stop Spam Text Messages For Good
HUFFINGTON POST
- Carefully Read Messages And Ignore Unknown Contacts
Be diligent when receiving texts from unknown contacts, or in Johnson’s words, “Don’t fall for the scam.” When receiving a message from someone who is not on your contact list, look for tell-tale spam clues such as incorrect spelling or grammar. Chances are that within the message, there are misspelled links or brand names, as well as unexpected free offerings such as gift cards, free vacations or loans, or inquiries supposedly from government agencies.
Same goes for messages from people pretending to be someone else. “When you get a message demanding something (i.e. ‘This is your boss, and I need your help’ messages), think before reacting. If it is saying it is your boss, is it? Probably not. Especially if it isn’t from their number. Is it from your bank? Then call your bank directly; don’t interact with the SMS message,” Johnson added. You can protect yourself by simply not opening messages from unknown numbers and blocking unknown contacts.
- Put Yourself On Do Not Text Lists
Grant Gibson, an instructor at computer training school MyComputerCareer with 20 years of cybersecurity experience, recommends getting on do not call and do not text lists to prevent unsolicited calls and texts from telemarketers.
For instance, you can register your home or cell phone number online for free at the National Do Not Call Registry run by the Federal Trade Commission, or you can call to register at 1-888-382-1222. If calling, make sure to do so from the phone number you wish to register. These methods will also prevent telemarketers from texting you.
- Consider Using An Alternative Number
Alternative numbers are a simple step you can take to secure yourself, Gibson said.
“Another option is to use a Google Voice number, or any other alternate burner number. You can route that number to your email or a secondary email you’ve created, which could greatly reduce the number of texts you receive on your primary number. An example of this would be using this alternate number when creating online accounts, making purchases or entering online contests,” Gibson suggested, adding, “Think of how much information you share with your friends and family via text. Imagine if that person on the other end was a bad guy instead?” Registering on the Do Not Call list and using an alternative number can go a long way, because once your number is found or has been tagged, you may be inundated with messages. Practice being diligent to protect your primary line.
- Never Share Personal Information Over Text
If you receive spam text messages, be sure not to respond to any of them, and if you do, don’t share any personal information like your social security number, bank account details, address or any other identifying information.
To go one step further, Gibson suggested utilizing an identity protection service or credit monitoring service that can alert you of changes on your accounts. Monitoring services typically charge a fee, but you may likely be able to check your own credit for free through your bank or credit card company, plus receive a full credit report for free once a year via annualcreditreport.com. Johnson also recommends moving normal communications to Signal, a free privacy-focused messaging and voice talk app you can use on both Apple and Android smartphones and via desktop. Communications on Signal are end-to-end encrypted. This means the content of the messages you send and calls you have are private, unlike SMS messages, which are standard text messages of up to 160 characters that are sent using a cellular signal instead of an internet connection. “Stop using SMS for regular communication,” Johnson said. “That way, any unsolicited text messaging will stand out as odd to you, so it is more likely you will think about the message before reacting to it.”
In addition to SMS messages being limited in length, they are not typically encrypted and are sent over open networks.
- Involve Your Service Provider And Change This One Important Setting On Your Phone Itself
Both Johnson and Gibson recommend pushing telephone providers and carriers to provide more protections when it comes to receiving spam text messages. These entities are becoming better at identifying and removing spam phone numbers. You should forward any suspicious messages to 7726, which spells “SPAM.” Most providers — including AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon — will launch an investigation and take steps to prevent you from receiving further spam messages. Service providers typically have additional steps you can look into as well. For example, if you are with AT&T and can’t see the phone number of a spam text, you can forward the entire message to this AT&T email address. Verizon has an internal service you can reach out to if you did click a link or provide personal information in response to a suspicious text message, and T-Mobile offers scam protection with Scam ID and Scam Block. In addition to these steps by carriers, there is also an option to filter unknown messages on your phone itself so they’ll be moved to a different folder where you can review them.
If you are an Apple user, go to your iPhone’s Settings, then choose Messages and scroll down, tap Filters, then tap to turn on “Filter Unknown Senders.” If you are an Android user, go to your messaging app, click the three dots icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen and tap Settings. In Settings, scroll to Spam Protection and select “Enable Spam Protection.” Filtered spam messages are still a nuisance, but at least you have them saved in one place so that you can mass delete them and not risk accidentally responding or clicking on a suspicious link.
