Tom Cruise Thanks Fans With A Crazy Greeting!

Tom Cruise has a holiday message for his fans and he shared it in dramatic fashion.  While strapped to an aircraft over a beach in South Africa, Cruise thanked his fans for going to the movie to see Top Gun: Maverick, which became the highest-grossing film of 2022. The video was posted to YouTube on Sunday by Paramount Pictures.  “Hey, everyone,” Cruise said, wearing safety glasses, earplugs and dressed in what looks like a flight suit with a T-shirt underneath. “Here we are over stunning South Africa, where we’re filming Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning. And I didn’t want the year to end without thanking you all for coming out to the theater and thank you for supporting Top Gun: Maverick.”  “Listen, we really gotta roll, we gotta get this shot,” Cruise says to McQuarrie. “Are you coming?” As he readies for his descent, Cruise says “You have a very safe and happy holiday. We’ll see you at the movies.”  And just like his Mission: Impossible character Ethan Hunt, Cruise takes a death-defying drop, plummeting to the beach below.
*****Future headline from 2062: “100-year-old film star Tom Cruise died today after he strapped himself to the side of a Mars rocket!!!”

KFed and Jamie Spears Working On A Book About Fatherhood

Britney Spears’ ex-husband Kevin Federline, is “writing a book on his experience of fatherhood” — and her estranged dad has “agreed to help,” journalist Daphne Barak revealed.  Barak has interviewed both Federline, 44, and Jamie, 70, in recent months, and she shared with the Mail on Sunday that the two men “are now speaking to each other once again” following a rough patch in their relationship.  In September 2019, Federline obtained a restraining order against Jamie after the Spears family patriarch allegedly abused his grandson Sean Preston, whom the former backup dancer shares with Britney. While Jamie was not hit with criminal charges over the incident, the protective order prevented him from seeing Preston, 17, and the former couple’s other son, Jayden James, 16, for three years.  “I miss my two boys really, really bad. I do,” Jamie told Barak in his first interview in a decade. “We were very, very close. … It’s been a tough three years without them.”  Jamie described his family as “a mess,” adding, “All I can say is that most people don’t have a clue what the truth is.”
*********As we recall, he “abused” them by yelling at them!! They should see what OUR grandfather did!!
*****We’re waiting for Britney’s book on motherhood. We have a feeling it’s gonna be a LONG wait!!

Steven Spielberg Apologizes To The Sharks

Steven Spielberg said Sunday that he regrets the negative impact his 1975 film “Jaws” had on the shark populations.  “I truly and to this day regret the decimation of the shark population because of the book and the film,” said Spielberg. “I really, truly regret that.”  Spielberg, who was a guest on BBC’s “Desert Island Discs,” joked that he believes the world’s shark population is mad at him.  “That’s one of the things I still fear,” he said. “Not to get eaten by a shark, but that sharks are somehow mad at me for the feeding frenzy of crazy sports fishermen that happened after 1975.”  The film is set in the fictional New England town of Amity Island, which is terrorized by a gargantuan great white shark forcing three townsfolk to pit themselves against the beast.  Research has suggested that the film contributed to a shark population decline around the US.  “‘Jaws’ was a turning point for great white sharks,” said Oliver Crimmen, fish curator at the Natural History Museum in London said in a 2015 interview with the BBC. “I actually saw a big change happen in the public and scientific perception of sharks when Peter Benchley’s book ‘Jaws’ was published and then subsequently made into a film.”  According to a Florida state official, “thousands” of residents of the state took to trying to catch trophy sharks after the book and film were released.
********Really?? Should we apologize to scorpions next???
*****When are these sharks gonna apologize to US???

Robert De Niro Burglarized

A female burglar was caught going through Robert De Niro’s Upper East Side townhouse early Monday — grabbing Christmas gifts from underneath the actor’s tree and playing with his iPad, law enforcement sources say.  A “known burglar,” 30-year-old Shanice Aviles broke into the “The Irishman” star’s home around 2:30 a.m.  Officers with the NYPD’s 19th Precinct public safety team had spotted Aviles trying to open doors to commercial buildings before she made her way inside De Niro’s home.  “She was stealing Christmas presents,” a police official says, adding that there was no interaction between the actor and the burglar. He and his daughter had been upstairs and were unaware of what was going on, sources said. Cops busted Aviles, who has a total of 26 prior arrests, at the scene, and charges were pending earlier in the morning.

Amber Heard Agrees To Settlement

Amber Heard has agreed to pay her ex-husband Johnny Depp $1 million to settle his defamation claim against her — appearing to put an end to the warring pair’s high-profile legal battle.  She announced the “very difficult decision” to reach a settlement in a statement on Instagram Monday, saying she withdrew her appeal of the verdict against her because she could not bear the “humiliation” of a retrial.  “It is important for me to say I never chose this,” Heard wrote. “I defended my truth and in doing so my life as I knew it was destroyed.” The payment — just a sliver of the more than $10 million in damages she was ordered to pay Depp — will reportedly come from her insurance company, not from her own personal funds.  Heard said the seven-figure settlement — reported by TMZ — was not an admission of guilt in connection with wild allegations leveled by Depp in a sensational six-week televised trial earlier this year.
********No???
******We’d like to thank her for not creating another long national nightmare!!!
*******Johnny will be using the money to buy a month’s worth of wine!!

Harry and Meghan Have Another Documentary

Harry and Meghan are bringing yet another docuseries to Netflix.  Their six-part docuseries “Harry & Meghan” dropped its final three episodes last Thursday — and they are already set for another.  “Live to Lead” will be a seven-part Netflix series with interviews from prominent leaders including New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Greta Thunberg, Gloria Steinem, social justice attorney Bryan Stevenson and more.  The series was made with the goal of allowing these leaders to “share messages of courage, compassion, humility, hope and generosity.”  Netflix released the trailer for the series Monday with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s voices over the majority of the video.   In the trailer, Prince Harry said the series was “inspired by Nelson Mandela.”  “Over the past few decades, we’ve seen a proliferation of destructive leaders, who, for instance, control power by closing borders, disseminating misinformation, and stoking fear of people considered to be ‘other’. We feel that there is a crisis of leadership at many societal levels globally,” the Nelson Mandela Foundation said in a statement.
******Gee, who could they be talking about??
*****This series sounds like a real audience repellant!!
****The Prime Minister of New Zealand is fighting misinformation by labelling her opponents “domestic terrorists!!” She’s a real beacon of freedom!!!
*******Maybe they can get some of these people to trash their families. That seems to be what people want to see!!

Dog Rescued From Engine

Automotive service technicians came to the assistance of authorities in Ontario to rescue a dog found stuck in the engine compartment of a car.  Ottawa By-law & Regulatory Services said officers were summoned to the area near Moodie Drive and Barnsdale Road when a dog was found to have climbed into the engine compartment of a car in an apparent search for warmth.  “Officers tried for over an hour to free the dog, but were unsuccessful,” Ottawa By-law officials tweeted.  The car was towed to Barrhaven Honda, where service technicians put the vehicle onto a lift so it could be partially dismantled to reach the stuck dog.  The freed canine was taken to the Ottawa Humane Society.  See the pic HERE.

Warthog Invades Butcher Shop

Employees at a butcher shop in South Africa were shocked when the building was invaded by an unusual patron — a live warthog.  Stephen Nel, owner of Camo Meat in Bela-Bela, Limpopo, said workers were closing up the shop for the day when a warthog ran into the business.  “The warthog went into the kitchen behind the building, but could not seem to find his way out,” Nel told news outlet Die Pos.  The local fire brigade was summoned to the store and was able to wrangle the warthog. The animal was taken to the Forever Resorts nature reserve, where locals suspect it had originated.  See the video HERE.

Truck Spills Red Dye All Over Town

A semi-truck driver hauling red dye failed to stop despite knowing the liquid was leaking onto the roadway and splashing cars for miles through the Portland area on Saturday night, authorities said.  Deputies in Multnomah County responded to reports of a tractor trailer leaking a red substance in Troutdale, a city about 16 miles outside Portland, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said.  The driver, 40-year-old Junior Jean, told deputies the liquid was used to dye mulch, according to authorities. Deputies said Jean also claimed to have stopped to inspect the leak when another driver flagged him, but his company had told him to continue driving to his destination.  While officials said that Jean told deputies that the liquid can be washed off with water, drivers reported on the department’s Facebook page that the liquid had stained their vehicles.  Meanwhile, Jean was issued citations for operating with sifting or leaking load, third-degree criminal mischief and reckless driving.

The Rudest Things Dinner Guests Do, And How To Handle It Like A Pro

HUFFINGTON POST

Scenario 1: The guest who makes rude or inappropriate comments.

It’s typically not a surprise when your disruptive guest (we all have one in our family or friend group) begins their soliloquy on “women these days” or all their other inappropriate opinions, so head off these remarks before your event.

“Take time before your event to talk to them about your expectations of their behavior during the event,” Juulia Karlstedt, an accredited counselor specializing in anxiety management in Edinburgh, suggested. “Be clear about the consequences of engaging in inappropriate or combative conversation. And if they do engage in the behavior during the event, follow through on those consequences. Pull the guest aside, keep your tone neutral, and hold the boundary you set.”  In the moment, try changing the topic of conversation to diffuse any conflict, ignore the remark and choose a more neutral topic. Smith suggested this script: ”Let’s leave that for the politicians to argue. Where are you spending the holidays?”  To minimize the chance of awkward conversations or one rude person dominating, hosts should prepare conversation starters or parlor games to keep the night fun and festive, Smith suggested.  “As a guest, you should arrive at the event with some interesting tidbits and stories to share,” Smith said. “When someone asks ‘What’s new?’ you should have an answer at the ready. ‘Oh nothing’ or ‘same old’ is a conversation killer.”

Scenario 2: The guest who won’t leave.

″Growing up, my best friend’s grandfather would go upstairs to put on his pajamas, slippers and robe. Then he would call down from the top of the stairs, ‘Thank you all for coming! It is time for me to sleep and you to go home.’ This worked well for a lovely and avuncular gentleman, but won’t work for most hosts,” Smith said.  If changing into your jammies is a step too far for you, winding-down activities like tidying up, stopping the music and turning on the lights is a great way to signal to guests that the party has ended. Guests who don’t (or won’t) take the hint may need a more direct approach.

Try this script from Alvarado: ”Gosh, it’s so late, I’m getting sleepy. I’m going to have to call it a night,” or “I’ve had such a great time with you tonight, but it’s time for you all to head home. I’m really looking forward to the next time we do this. Let me walk you out.”  When sending out invites, consider letting guests know your event’s start and end time to prevent misunderstandings.  ″A lot of issues with boundaries come from us assuming other people can read out hints, but if someone isn’t picking up on subtle cues, they may need you to be very clear and non-ambiguous about the fact the party is over,” Karlstedt said.

Scenario 3: The guest who drinks too much.

’Tis the holiday party season, and your event may be the second (or third) in a night of festivities, meaning your guests could be buzzed and rowdy by the time they arrive.  Depending on where you live, the party’s host can be held liable if your inebriated guest injures someone else. Your best bet could be to send them home or offer to let them sleep it off in a guest room, according to Smith.  “If they are not agreeable, you will need to enlist the aid of some strong friends to assist the guest into a taxi or ride service home,” Smith said, advising a sendoff like: “Sweetie! It is so lovely to see you. We can tell you have already had quite a bit of fun this evening. Here we go; your carriage awaits! We will have to catch up more later this week.”  Another option is to take the guest aside and talk to them (depending on how intoxicated they are) about the next steps, whether asking them to limit their alcohol for the rest of the evening or eat some food.

“Remember, it is your house or event, and you can decide what you deem acceptable and nonacceptable behavior,” Karlstedt said. “If a guest is not engaging with you, see if you can engage the help of a second person and be very clear about what will happen if the guest continues to not cooperate with you.”  If your guest overserves themself at your function, offer a nonalcoholic drink or a glass of water.

It’s not your job to monitor others’ drinking habits, but if their behavior is becoming uncomfortable or dangerous, you should step in, Alvarado said. Try this script: ”Whew! Seems like you’re really feeling it already. You might want to slow down. Have you tried sparkling cider? It’s delicious!”
