New Meghan and Harry Trailer Released

Meghan and Harry are telling their story in their own words in Harry & Meghan, a documentary set for Netflix. The six-episode documentary promises to reveal secrets about the British monarchy and provide the couple’s narrative on their move to the U.S., in what royal watchers dubbed “Megxit.”  The documentary is scheduled to air its first set of episodes on Thursday, with the second set of episodes released on Dec. 15.  “No one knows the full truth,” Harry, 38, says in the trailer. “We know the full truth.”  In the trailer, the couple shows vignettes of their life together including photos from what looks like a trip to Africa and and video of Markle while expecting. There are also clips from the couples’ interviews for the docs that shed light on their challenges as working members of the British royal family.  “There’s a hierarchy of the family,” Harry says. “You know, there’s leaking, but there’s also planting of stories. It’s a dirty game.”  The Netflix synopsis reads, “The series explores the clandestine days of their early courtship and the challenges that led to them feeling forced to step back from their full-time roles in the institution.  “With commentary from friends and family, most of whom have never spoken publicly before about what they witnessed, and historians who discuss the state of the British Commonwealth today and the royal family’s relationship with the press, the series does more than illuminate one couple’s love story, it paints a picture of our world and how we treat each other.”

Amber Heard Files Appeal

Amber Heard has filed an appeal to overturn the ruling in her case against ex-husband Johnny Depp.  Lawyers for Heard pointed out 16 errors made during the trial, in the court documents obtained by Fox News Digital. Specifically, the lawyers argued that the trial should have been held in California and that the trial shouldn’t have taken place at all because Depp had already been found to have abused Heard in a United Kingdom court.  Additionally, the lawyers claim that the jury verdicts contradicted each other.  “To find in favor of Depp, the jury must have concluded that Depp did not abuse Heard and that Heard knowingly lied in accusing him of abuse. But, to find in favor of Heard, the jury must have concluded that Heard told the truth about being a victim of domestic abuse by Depp,” the lawyers wrote. “Accordingly, the verdict against Heard cannot stand.”  The documents also state that the verdict “undoubtedly will have a chilling effect on other women who wish to speak about abuse involving powerful men.”
*****The judge looked at her appeal and said, “Leave me alone!!! Just go away!!!”
*******She threatened to “leave a grumpy” in the courtroom!!
*****WE should sue her for abusing our time!!!

ABC Sidelines Anchor Lovers

Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes were absent from “GMA3” Monday as their alleged affair drama continues to face backlash.  Co-anchors Stephanie Ramos and Gio Benitez manned the desk in their place.  “Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes have the day off,” Ramos said with a smile.   ABC News chiefs decided to take the couple off the air because their scandal became too much of a distraction.  “After a lot of thought, I am taking Amy and T.J. off the air as we figure this out,” ABC News president Kim Godwin said during an internal phone call.  Godwin added that while Holmes and Robach’s alleged affair was “not a violation of company policy,” the decision to pull them temporarily was necessary for the “Good Morning America” brand as a whole.  The anchors who will sit in their seats for the rest of the week have yet to be determined.
*****Robin Roberts thinks they’re immoral!! Think about that for a minute!!

Archewell Podcast Producer Quits

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s head of audio has left the couple’s Archewell Foundation — and it remains unclear whether Markle will host a second season of her podcast.  Rebecca Sananès, who was in charge of Markle’s controversy-stirring Spotify podcast “Archetypes with Meghan,” is moving on after just over a year at the company and is keen to launch her own project, sources said.  She is the second high-profile Archewell employee to leave in the past few days.  Sananès was brought on for the podcast and was instrumental in its creation — including coming up with the title and booking guests such as Mariah Carey, Andy Cohen, poet Amanda Gorman, Serena Williams and Paris Hilton.  The news comes days after it was announced that Mandana Dayani, who has run Archewell for less than 18 months, had stepped down from her role by mutual agreement, and will not be replaced.

Napping Bear

A Florida man who was alerted to the presence of a bear in his neighborhood discovered the animal taking a nap outside his front door.  Chuck Robbins of Heathrow said he had heard there was a bear in his neighborhood and went out to try to take photos or video of the animal, but he couldn’t locate the bear and went home.  Robbins said a neighbor contacted him later in the evening to tell him there was a large bear in his yard.  The resident said he looked out a window and discovered the bear was on his porch, sleeping right in front of his door.  “It was amazing. I just walked out, and it was like right there in front of me and so close,” Robbins told WOFL-TV.

Cat Rescued From Roof

Firefighters in California came to the rescue of a cat that was stranded for five days on the roof of an apartment building.  Bambi’s Army Rescue, based in Parlier, said a feline named Sammy made its way to the roof of a building at a senior apartment complex in Kingsburg and was stranded without food or water for about five days.  A roofer was summoned to the scene, but he ladder wasn’t tall enough to reach the top of the building.  The Kingsburg Fire Department was then summoned to the scene and they were able to set a trap on the roof and bring Sammy back down to the ground.  “The cat has been rescued! It is off of the roof and back on solid ground,” Bambi’s Army Rescue said in a Facebook post.  See the video HERE.

Golfer Bit Off Nose During Fight

An argument between two men over a golf game led one golfer to bite the nose off the other in the parking lot of a casino, police said.  Mark Wells, 51, of Biloxi initially fled the scene in a Tesla before turning himself in, Bay St. Louis Police Chief Toby Schwartz said in a news release.  The nose was not found as the victim was taken to a hospital, WXXV-TV reported.  Officers responding to a complaint of an assault at the Hollywood Casino Monday night arrived to find a victim with a disfiguring facial injury, the statement said. “The investigation determined that suspect, Mark Curtis Wells, bit the nose off of the victim,” Schwartz said.  Officers were told that Wells and the victim had been arguing throughout the day over a golf game they played at the resort’s course.  Wells was charged with felony mayhem and booked on into the Hancock County jail, where he paid the required 10% of a $50,000 bond himself and walked out within the hour, WXXV reported.  According to the Biloxi Sun Herald, Wells faces up to seven years in prison if convicted of the felony, which state law defines as a premeditated “crime committed with the intent to kill in which the suspect mutilates, disfigures, disables, or destroys someone’s tongue, eye, lip, nose, limb or another body part.”

Florida Man Tries To Rob The Wrong Walmart

A man was arrested after he allegedly tried to steal from a Walmart in Florida while the store was filled with dozens of police officers.  Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, near Orlando, published a post on its Facebook page on Thursday saying it had arrested a man after he was caught trying to steal from a Walmart in St. Cloud.  The incident happened during a “Shop with a Cop” event with local children. “Bad news, Brad!” the office wrote, adding: “Seriously we just can’t make this up.”  The Walmart store was filled with nearly 40 deputies alongside the forensics team, the community services officers, the OCSO Majors, and Sheriff Marcos R. Lopez.  “Bad idea, Brad,” the post ended.  Other images showed the suspect handcuffed, with images of gloves, perfume, and other items appearing to be linked to an attempted theft.

13 Free TV Apps That Will Help You Cut Cable

THE PENNY HOARDER

  1. Crackle

One of the go-to names not just in free streaming but in streaming video in general is Crackle. The cost-free service has a variety of content, ranging from classic TV shows like “Just Shoot Me!” and “The Doris Day Show,” as well as the newer “Going from Broke” series. It also has hundreds of films from major studios.  For a free streaming service, Crackle’s library is truly impressive. Crackle even has a handful of original series to its name. Best of all, Crackle works on nearly all mobile devices, streaming boxes and smart TVs.

  1. Tubi TV

A division of FOX Entertainment, Tubi TV has deals with major studios like Paramount Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) and Lionsgate. It also features lots of foreign and independent productions.  Tubi TV’s library is updated regularly, and the service claims to add new content every week. The Tubi TV app works on more than 21 devices, including Android and iOS, Roku, Apple TV, Xbox, Samsung Smart TVs and Amazon Fire TV.

The library is solid and has started offering popular Fox TV series like “The Masked Singer” and “Master Chef: Back to Win.”  Since the service is ad-supported, you can expect to watch a couple minutes of ads every 10 minutes or so. The experience is pretty similar to watching normal television.

  1. Pluto TV

Pluto TV offers TV channels of linear content much like a cable package.  There are dozens of classic TV, movie and sports channels — and even some highly curated streams of niche content.  If you’re looking for breaking news, you can choose from an assortment of major network news channels that are live streaming.

The kids (or kids at heart) can check out movies like “Barnyard” and “Rock Dog 2.”  Those who are a little older can watch classics from their past, like “Titanic” or “Forrest Gump.”  Pluto TV boasts a large list of supported devices including iOS and Android devices, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV,  Chromecast devices, and Android TV.  Like Tubi TV, Pluto TV has advertisements similar to the ad load of normal TV.

  1. NewsON

Streaming video isn’t always just about entertainment. The NewsON app provides hundreds of local and national news streams.  Both live TV and on-demand news broadcasts can be streamed from over 275 local news affiliates in 165 markets. The broadcasts are available for up to 48 hours after they air, so even if you don’t catch the news as it happens, you can catch up later.  Users can then select which news segments they want to watch from categories like sports, weather or entertainment. NewsON is compatible with iOS and Android phones and tablets, as well as Roku, Samsung Smart TVs and Amazon Fire TV.

  1. PBS Kids

Kids need free streaming content, too. PBS has a PBS Kids Video app that provides hundreds of hours of educational and enriching content for the youngest members of the family. The app has a colorful, child-friendly interface, which makes it easy for kids to take control themselves.  You can even tap the “Live TV” button to watch what’s currently airing on your local PBS station.

PRO TIP

Almost all of the networks and cable TV channels have their own free apps for you to download — although many charge you to actually watch current content.  Videos from many of PBS’s most popular series are available for streaming including “Curious George,” “Wild Kratts” and “Sesame Street.” The PBS Kids app is supported for Android phones and tablets, iOS phones and tablets, and the Amazon Kindle.

  1. Xumo

Whether you want it now or later, Xumo offers live TV and on-demand options.  Like Pluto, you can choose from an assortment of major network news channels like NBC News that are live streaming.  But it also includes more than 180 free channels, including themed ones in case you’re in the mood for action movies or comedies.  Xumo is available on most smart TVs. It’s also available on Roku and for download on iOS and Android devices.

PRO TIP

Many of the free TV apps offer “premium” channels — if you see that word, expect to pay for those services.

  1. Crunchyroll

Anime and manga fans are likely already familiar with Crunchyroll. It specializes in mostly Japanese content, but it also features films and series from all over the world. Crunchyroll boasts a library of thousands of anime films and series, many of which are hard to find on other streaming services.

There is a paid premium feature, but the free Crunchyroll service has thousands of hours of popular series like the “Dragon Ball” franchise, “Attack on Titan,” “Naruto” and “One Piece.”  The Crunchyroll app is supported by Apple, Android and Windows mobile devices, as well as by gaming consoles, Chromecast, Apple TV, Fire TV and Roku.  Crunchyroll is a great app for anyone with an interest in anime. Of course, when it comes to anime content, you have to be watchful with your younger children, as a lot of it is geared toward teens (and sometimes even adults.)

  1. Twitch

For anyone with even a passing interest in gaming and esports, Twitch is the go-to free streaming service.  Twitch hosts user-created channels and streams focused on video games and other esports. It features a built-in chat feature, so users can chat with other streamers in real time.

PRO TIP

You’re there anyway — why not get paid to play video games? Here are four simple ways to start earning real cash for virtual play.  While there are thousands of free streams, Twitch also features premium features for a monthly subscription. Twitch apps are compatible with PCs, iOS and Android devices, game consoles, Chromecast, Apple TV and Fire TV.

While Twitch is popular with children, parents should be aware: Twitch streams are somewhat unregulated and can sometimes contain adult language or content.

  1. Freevee

Owned by Amazon, Freevee (formerly IMDb TV) features a host of full episodes of your favorite current and classic TV shows as well as an array of movies.  The catalog includes some binge-worthy sci-fi hits like “Lost” and “Fringe.”  Freevee is ad-supported, so you’ll have to sit through a few commercial breaks.

It is available in the United States on a host of devices, including Apple TVs, Rokus, Xbox, and iOS and Android devices. Oh, and on FireTV and Prime Video. Obviously.

  1. YouTube

Yes, YouTube. YouTube apps are compatible with just about every device that has a screen, and the service features videos to choose from on nearly any topic imaginable.  Most of those videos are not exactly premium content, but there are still plenty of full-length films, documentary series and curated channels that provide cost-free entertainment for the whole family.  While there are ways to download YouTube content for offline viewing, proceed with caution: Many of these sites and apps are full of malware.

  1. Peacock

NBCUniversal launched this streaming service, which includes over 80,000 hours of free content, in July 2020.  Although Peacock offers paid premium options, the free version includes current and classic TV shows, movies, news, sports, kids’ shows, Spanish-language programs and even select episodes of Peacock originals.

If you’re a fan of shows like “Suits,” “Law and Order: Criminal Intent,” or “Comedy in Color,” you can watch them on this streaming service. You will have to sign up for an account, but there is a free option with no credit card required.  Customers can stream Peacock on a variety of platforms, including LG TVs, Vizio Smart TVs, Roku, Android and Apple devices, and Playstation and Xbox consoles.

  1. The Roku Channel

Even if you don’t have a Roku, you can download the free Roku app. This channel hosts a rotating selection of free movies and TV series. Past offerings have included options like 24, Alias and Army Wives.  The Roku Channel is also home to slew of Roku Originals, like Martha Gardens, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, and a new version of Punk’d hosted by Chance the Rapper. Those in the US in Canada can also stream live news 24/7.  The Roku Channel does have ads, but it doesn’t require a subscription.  You can access the Roku Channel from your Roku device.

  1. Popcornflix

If you’re into action flicks, sci-fi or horror, you might want to check out Popcornflix. Some of the categories of free movies and free tv shows on this platform include: “Legends of Action,” “Creature Features” and “Carpe Dien.”

You can access Popcornflix on any Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV or Roku device. You can also access it via Xbox One, or any Apple or iOS mobile devices. While you won’t need a subscription for Popcornflix, you will have to watch a few ads spread throughout the content.
