Ghostbusters Director Dies
Ivan Reitman, a director and producer behind a number of hit films including 1984’s Ghostbusters, has died at the age of 75. Tom Rothman, chairman and CEO at Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, confirmed Ivan Reitman’s death Monday on the official Ghostbusters Twitter account. “Tonight, the lady with the torch weeps, as do all of us at Columbia, and film lovers around the world. Ivan Reitman was an inseparable part of this studio’s legacy, but more than that he was a friend,” Rothman said. “A great talent and an even finer man; he will be dearly missed. We send his family all our condolences,” he continued. Ivan Reitman directed and produced Ghostbusters and its 1989 sequel. He produced the recently released Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which was directed by his son Jason Reitman, along with a reboot released in 2016. The filmmaker is also known for producing National Lampoon’s Animal House and for directing comedies Meatballs, Stripes, Twins, Kindergarten Cop, Dave, Junior and more. Ivan Reitman additionally produced Space Jam, Up in the Air from Jason Reitman and executive produced Beethoven.

Whoopi Goldberg Returns To The View
Whoopi Goldberg was back on The View on Monday after the actress and media personality was suspended for two weeks. She was initially suspended after she said that the Holocaust was not about race during a discussion on The View about the recent banning of graphic novel Maus by a school board in Tennessee. She apologized at the time on social media and The View. She was joined on Monday by Joey Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin and guest host Ana Navarro. “I got to tell you, there’s something kind of marvelous about being on a show like this because we are The View and this is what we do. Sometimes we don’t do this as eloquently as we could. It’s five minutes to get in important information about topics. That’s what we try to do every day,” Goldberg said on Monday. “We’re going to keep having tough conversations. And, in part, because this is what we’ve been hired to do. And it’s not always pretty, as I said, and it is not always as other people would like to hear. But it is an honor to sit at this table and be able to have these conversations because they’re important. They’re important to us as a nation and to us more so as a human entity,” she continued.
********OK, now we wish they had fired her!!
*****When SHE screws up, it’s “important to the nation!!” When anyone else screws up, “CANCEL ‘EM!!!!”
******Does she think that Joe Rogan’s free speech is just as important as hers???
Camilla Catches COVID
Camilla, the wife of Britain’s Prince Charles, has tested positive for COVID-19 just days after her husband also discovered that he’d been infected, officials said Monday. The Duchess of Cornwall began to self-isolate after learning of her positive test, the royal couple’s office at Clarence House said. Prince Charles tested positive on Friday and also went into isolation. Camilla continued to appear at public events over the weekend, but had been taking daily COVID-19 tests. Buckingham Palace said that Prince Charles had spent time with his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, early last week but the monarch has not displayed any symptoms of the virus. Both Prince Charles and Camilla are fully vaccinated and have received a booster shot. It’s the second time that Charles, the heir to the British throne, has tested positive for COVID-19. He was also infected in March 2020 during the early months of the pandemic, as was Prince William. At an event celebrating her Platinum Jubilee last week, the queen called for Camilla to be known as queen consort when Charles ascends to the throne.

More Tiger King Murder Drama
The daughter of Carole Baskin’s second husband, who vanished nearly 25 years ago, is outraged that Florida prosecutors won’t pursue a murder case against her dad’s former handyman after an “explosive” new witness came forward implicating him. Florida detectives presented evidence to the Tampa state attorney’s office in July against Kenny Farr for the alleged murder of Don Lewis, who disappeared Aug. 18, 1997, when he was 59. “I am shocked that the state attorney’s office is not willing to pursue this. What this witness knows is explosive,” Don Lewis’ daughter Donna Pettis told Fox News Digital. “There is enough circumstantial evidence alone without the new witness’ statement for them to at least convene a grand jury. I’m extremely upset.” The new witness reportedly told detectives that about a year after Lewis was reported missing, the former handyman showed up at a camping trip and drunkenly told the group he got rid of Lewis’ body by using a wood chipper. The new witness came forward after the airing of the wildly popular 2020 Netflix series “Tiger King,” which documents the vicious rivalry between former big cat zoo owner Joe Exotic, also known as Joseph Maldonado-Passage, and big cat rescuer Carole Baskin. The feud ultimately landed Joe Exotic behind bars for hiring a hit man to kill her. Joe had long accused Baskin of orchestrating the murder of Lewis, using a meat grinder to dispose of his remains and burying the larger body parts under a septic tank on the property where the couple lived and ran an animal sanctuary.
********It was a WOOD CHIPPER?? Oh, well.. wood chipper.. meat grinder.. same thing!!!
********Good lesson: never hire a handyman when you need a skilled contractor!!
******Before it’s all said and done, Joe is getting pardoned!! Take our word!!!
Ben’s Gift To JLo
Ben Affleck gifted Jennifer Lopez a romantic video montage of their journey together set to her new song “On My Way” for Valentine’s Day. “Watching it made me think about the journey of true love, it’s unexpected twists and turns, and that when it’s real, it actually can last forever,” Lopez wrote in her newsletter, “On the JLo,” according to Harper’s Bazaar. “This seriously melted my heart.” This is the couple’s first Valentine’s Day together since they rekindled their relationship in April 2021 after almost two decades apart. The video montage features clips of when the pair were first together, including shots from their 2003 romantic comedy “Gigli,” red carpet events and Lopez’s “Jenny From the Block” music video, in which Affleck played her love interest. The song “On My Way” also appears to align with a love story in which there is a lot of hardship before the person is able to finally find their one true love. The lyrics state, “All the stars I’ve seen / All the songs I’ve sung / All the beers I’ve drank / All the damage done / I was just passin’ time / Kinda just passin’ through / On my way to you.” Lopez and Affleck both experienced failed marriages before they got back together.
*******Did anyone else just throw up in their mouth??
****Ben’s greatest gift to JLo is an unending streak of publicity!!
****It seems like people who are REALLY in love don’t have to spend a lot of time telling everyone about it!!
Wendy Williams Says She’s Doing Fine
Wendy Williams denied that she is struggling with her mental health after her bank claimed she is an “incapacitated person” who needs a guardianship. “Wendy wants the world to know that she strenuously denies all allegations about her mental health and well-being,” Williams’ lawyer LaShawn Thomas said. Thomas said his client, who has not hosted her daytime talk show since July 2021, has spent her hiatus employing “holistic health professionals to help her reach optimal health during her treatment of Graves’ disease and thyroid concerns.” The attorney went on to insist that Williams is doing “fine” and is “of sound mind” after her former financial adviser, Lori Schiller, claimed the opposite, leading Wells Fargo to cut off access to the millions of dollars in her accounts. “[She is] disappointed about falsely circulated statements from an industry she has devoted her life to,” Thomas said. “Wendy is grateful for the love and the outpouring of support she has received from her fans, and she can’t wait to get back. She thanks everyone who has been patiently awaiting her return and believes that, thanks in large part to the love and support of her son, her family, her new team of doctors and a change of scenery, she is on the mend.” Thomas added, “Wendy says to all her fans, ‘How you doing?’”

Parrot Rescued From Tree
Power company workers in Vermont came to the rescue of a panicked parrot that flew 60 feet up a tree and was too afraid of flying to come back down. Massachusetts resident Thea Everest said she brought her macaw, Kaiba, along to visit her father in Battleboro, but before they went inside the house the parrot became spooked. “Normally, I’ll put him down right before we go inside so he can use the bathroom,” Everest told WCAX-TV. “And a bird flew by like right next to him and he got spooked.” Kaiba ended up flying to a tree branch about 60 feet off the ground, where he remained. Everest said Kaiba’s previous owners had kept his wings clipped, so he has only recently been learning how to fly. Everest sought help on a local bird spotting group on Facebook, and someone suggested she contact Green Mountain Power to get assistance from lineworkers with a bucket truck.

Just Another Day At The Walmart
Florida police say an alleged Walmart shoplifter threw “a hissy fit” before hurling a Barbie doll at a store worker’s face when she got caught stealing. It happened at around 1 p.m. on Feb. 2 at a store located in Winter Haven. Local police are asking for the public’s help identifying the woman, who they say had “green hands and hair, apparently from a recent hair dye treatment.” She allegedly stocked up a shopping cart with food and groceries and moved it to the self-checkout area, where, police say, she lingered for about 15 minutes before trying to leave with the items. The video shows four employees stopped her. “Get the manager Kim,” police say she told the workers. “I have an employee discount and I get my groceries for free.” The store has no manager named Kim, according to authorities. Video shows she grabbed a boxed up Barbie and attempted to walk away before turning back and hurling it at one of the employees. Police say it struck the victim in the face and cut her lip. See the video HERE.

James Blunt Used To Stop Protesters
New Zealand authorities have turned to the music of James Blunt in their latest musical effort to move protesters camped outside parliament. The demonstrators, who are angry about COVID-19 vaccine mandates, were initially bombarded with Barry Manilow’s greatest hits – plus the 1990s dance tune Macarena – all played on a loop from one of parliament’s loudspeakers. But on Saturday evening UK time, British musician Blunt tweeted an offer of help. Sharing a news story about the protesters being blasted with the sounds of Manilow, he wrote: “Give me a shout if this doesn’t work @NZPolice”. A few hours later, it appeared his offer had been accepted, with the star’s most famous hit You’re Beautiful being played over the loudspeaker. Protesters seemed undeterred, however, singing other songs over the hit, and dancing in the rain.

8 Signs Your Friendship Is Strong And Will Last
HUFFINGTON POST
You celebrate each other’s successes.
“A very important sign of a good friend is the one who is there to help you celebrate your successes,” said Glenda Shaw, author of “Better You, Better Friends.”
This can be hard for people sometimes, especially if they aren’t feeling very accomplished in their lives, Shaw noted. They may wonder, “Why isn’t this happening to me?”
“The friends who are able to overcome any incipient envy and bring forth some heartfelt excitement for your success ― your golden award, your just-published book, your new house or spouse ― are joining you in an important moment in your life,” Shaw said. “They’re letting you know that your friendship matters to them.”
Clinical psychologist and friendship expert Irene S. Levine pointed out that good friends root for each other’s success in all things, even when it’s difficult.
“You’re cheerleaders for each other rather than competitors,” Levine said.
There’s reciprocity.
“A good friendship feels reciprocal with give and take on both sides,” Levine said.
Of course, relationships can’t be perfectly equal at all times, but things should balance out in the long term, with both people putting in effort and showing interest.
“Giving and receiving support during vulnerable times is really important for a healthy friendship,” said psychologist and friendship expert Marisa G. Franco. “There’s reciprocal vulnerability. If only one person is being vulnerable over the span of the friendship, it can be more of a dependency than a friendship. Friendship is reciprocal by nature, so there should be giving and receiving support and showing vulnerability.”
Communication is easy.
Communication is paramount in any personal relationship, and a friendship that’s built to last will reflect that.
“There’s an ease of communication,” Levine said. “When conflicts or misunderstandings occur, they are easily and quickly resolved. You ‘get each other’ and just seem to click.”
Shaw emphasized that tense situations are inevitable, but they’ll only strengthen good friendships.
“Intimacy is born from conflict,” Shaw said. “The point isn’t to have friendships without conflict ― the point is how we work through these challenges. And when you talk over a challenging situation or circumstance with a friend, remember to listen to their point of view, to offer your feedback generously, and, most importantly, to be willing to adjust your own behavior. This is how our relationships can grow and thrive.”
You respect each other’s decisions.
“Even if your values differ, you respect each other’s judgment and way of thinking,” Levine said.
Franco defined this aspect of the relationship as “identify affirmation.”
“Identity affirmation is a green flag in a friendship,” Franco said. “That’s when your friend doesn’t try to impose their values or ways of living onto you.”
Franco gave the example of a friend who announces that she wants to quit her job and move to Mexico.
“Even though I’m like, ‘I wouldn’t do that, I value stability,’ I wouldn’t stop my friend from doing that because I affirm their identity,” she explained. “If you’re low in identity affirmation, then you would impose those standards onto a friend and say ‘I don’t think you should do that. I think you’re making a dumb decision.’”
You can rely on their support.
A fundamental part of friendship is being able to depend on each other for support when needed.
“It is always a good sign in a friendship when a person truly shows up for you when you are mentally or physically vulnerable,” Shaw said. “Think about the people who stay in contact with you when you’re sick, who call to check on you and who deliver nourishing food so that you don’t have to cook.”
The pandemic has led to countless stories of support from friends helping people get through difficult experiences, Shaw said. Showing up makes a difference, and doing it consistently lets your friend know that you can rely on each other.
“This is about the people who stay the course whenever you’re going through a tough time,” Shaw added. “In one research study of 3,000 women with breast cancer, it was shown that these women were most likely to survive this disease if they had close friends to rely on during the course of their illness.”
You have common interests.
One thing that can make friendships particularly effortless and long-lasting is sharing common interests.
“This might include work interests, hobbies, being mothers, being single, etc.” Levine said. She added that those points of overlap can also be matters of convenience.
“Perhaps you live in the same neighborhood and can do errands together and help each other out in a pinch,” Levine said. “Your time schedules are in sync. For example, a mother with young children will have far less time for friendship than a single friend.”
The relationship can evolve.
Being aligned in terms of location, interests or life circumstances can strengthen friendships. But of course, there are plenty of strong relationships between people who aren’t as in sync.
A sign of a good friendship is one that can evolve as you and the other person change and grow. Becoming single again, moving away, having kids and other big transitions will inevitably affect your friendship in some way. But if it’s meant to last, you’ll be able to catch up and fall back into that easy communication when you reunite.
“The friendship is forgiving and allows for changes, which may even include not speaking or seeing each other for some time,” Levine said.
There’s vulnerability.
“A non-negotiable factor that determines the health and depth of every relationship is vulnerability,” said friendship expert and author Shasta Nelson.
Vulnerability involves sharing in a way that “leaves us feeling known,” Nelson said. There’s a lot of risk and reward in vulnerable moments.
“One of the best signs in a friendship is when, as an act of love, a friend takes the risk of telling you something that they know might hurt you,” Shaw said. “One time I couldn’t go out partying with friends, and my then-beau hit on a good friend of mine. The next day, she came to see me, and she gently told me what had happened. It was as difficult for her to tell me this as it was for me to hear it ― but she knew that I needed to hear it. And I did!”
While the romantic relationship ended, Shaw and that friend remain close to this day.
“If you select friends you can trust, then they will look out for your best interests,” she said.
