Meghan Markle Pregnant
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced Sunday they are expecting their second child. “We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child,” the couple’s representative said in a statement to People.com. The baby’s gender and anticipated arrival date were not revealed. “Her Majesty, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales and the entire family are delighted and wish them well,” a spokesman for Buckingham Palace said about the baby news, according to The Guardian. Misan Harriman shared on Twitter a black-and-white photo she snapped of the couple, smiling and cuddling. “Meg, I was there at your wedding to witness this love story begin, and my friend, I am honoured to capture it grow. Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on this joyous news!#remoteshoot #shotonipad #shotbymisan,” Harriman captioned the outdoor portrait. Morgan Wallen Still On Top Of The Charts
Country star Morgan Wallen’s sophomore album “Dangerous: The Double Album” is number one on the Billboard 200 chart for the fifth week amid his racial slur scandal. According to Billboard, “Dangerous” sold 150,000 units in the U.S. last week (ending Feb. 11) and his 2018 album “If I Know Me,” was also in the top 10. Wallen has asked fans not to downplay the racist language he was caught saying on camera and said that he accepted the punishments he faced. She said he was waiting until he could personally apologize to people he had hurt. He said that the video was taken after a three-day “bender,” but he has since gotten sober. Wallen said that he accepted invitations from Black organizations, executives, and leaders to have honest conversations.

Larry King’s Will Contested
Larry King’s widow, Shawn King, says that she was blindsided by this week’s revelation that he had a secret will that didn’t mention her — and she says she’s preparing to fight it vigorously in court. She also believes someone pressured him to draw it up, she says. Reports emerged that he wrote a handwritten amendment to his will in 2019, leaving his $2 million estate to his five children. It notably omitted his estranged wife. “We had a very watertight family estate plan,” said Shawn, adding that they wrote the plan “as a couple” in 2015. “It still exists, and it is the legitimate will. Period. And I fully believe it will hold up, and my attorneys are going to be filing a response, probably by the end of the day.” He had filed for divorce from his seventh wife, Shawn, in August 2019 — two months before the amended will was written — but he passed away before the split was settled in court. Also, the amended will names five of King’s children, Andy, Chiara, Larry Jr., and his kids with Shawn, Cannon and Chance — but Andy and Chiara both passed away in 2020. Larry told the NY Post before his death that he had become close friends with Shawn again after he filed for divorce, and Shawn tells us that they spoke daily. But she says Larry never told her about the amended will. Asked why she believes he made it, she said, “It beats me!”

Chris Harrison Steps Away From The Bachelor
Chris Harrison announced that he is temporarily leaving “The Bachelor” after partaking in an interview in which he defended the racist actions of a contestant. He declared his limited departure in a statement on Instagram on Saturday. “By excusing historical racism, I defended it. I invoked the term ‘woke police,’ which is unacceptable. I am ashamed over how uninformed I was. I was wrong,” he wrote. “I have consulted with Warner Bros. and ABC and will be stepping aside for a period of time and will not join for the After the Final Rose special.” “After the Final Rose” is a live special which airs after the season finale. The rest of the current “Bachelor” season has been filmed already. It is not yet clear if Harrison will appear on Season 17 of “The Bachelorette,” which is set to start taping soon. On Wednesday, Harrison apologized for his treatment of former “Bachelorette” Rachel Lindsay during an interview with her about current “Bachelor” frontrunner Rachael Kirkconnell, who has faced accusations of racism, including partaking in an event that glorified the Antebellum era. Justin Timberlake has issued an apology to ex-girlfriend Britney Spears and Janet Jackson. He posted the lengthy message on Instagram, owning up to his “ignorance” surrounding the media treatment of Spears following his breakup with her, after the release of the documentary “Framing Britney Spears.” He also addressed the coverage surrounding his 2004 Super Bowl performance with Jackson in which she suffered a nip slip. “I’ve seen the messages, tags, comments, and concerns and I want to respond. I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right. I understand that I fell short in these moments and in many others and benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism,” he wrote after fans slammed him over his treatment of Spears following their 2002 breakup after getting together in 1999. “I specifically want to apologize to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson both individually, because I care for and respect these women and I know I failed. I also feel compelled to respond, in part, because everyone involved deserves better and most importantly, because this is a larger conversation that I wholeheartedly want to be part of and grow from,” he said. Lori Loughlin wants her passport back now that she’s done her time for paying $500,000 in bribes to get her daughters into college. She filed court documents asking that her passport be returned, noting that she served her two-month sentence and paid the court-imposed $150,000 fine. She surrendered her passport in late March to US Pretrial Services after she and a dozen other well-heeled parents were busted in a widespread college admissions scheme. Classmates End Up Being Twins
A pair of former classmates in Indiana who reconnected decades later on Facebook made a shocking discovery: They’re long-lost twin siblings. Karen Warner, 51, said she found out her biological mother’s name a few years ago when Indiana unsealed adoption records, and the discovery came with a surprise: she had a twin brother. Warner said she sought help from various adoption websites to try to find her long-lost brother. “Everybody kept coming up with nothing because we didn’t have a name to go by or anything,” Warner told WTHR-TV. Warner said the big break came when she obtained local voting records with a list of three men who shared her birth date. The third name on the list, Mike Jackman, stood out because he was a high school classmate who she had only very recently reconnected with on Facebook. Warner said Jackman a Facebook message saying they might be twin siblings, and the pair had a DNA test performed that confirmed their connection.

Dog Inherits $5 Million!
A Tennessee dog is living the comfortable life after inheriting $5 million from her late owner, who stipulated in his will that his money should go to his pet. Lulu, an 8-year-old border collie, was named in the will of owner Bill Dorris, a Nashville businessman who died late last year at age 84. Martha Burton, 88, a neighbor who often cared for Lulu while Dorris was away, was named as the dog’s caretaker in Dorris’ will, which states Burton will be reimbursed for “reasonable” monthly expenses. “I don’t really know what to think about it to tell you the truth. He just really loved the dog,” Burton told WTVF-TV. Burton said she is perfectly happy to act as Lulu’s caretaker.

Highway Beer Spill
Authorities in Florida said there were no injuries but a lot of spilled beer when a tractor-trailer hauling a load of bottled and canned beer was involved in a highway crash. The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said two southbound lanes of Interstate 95 were closed at mile marker 305, near the Marineland exit, after the truck spilled some of its load of beer in cans and bottles onto the roadway. The sheriff’s office said the truck had been involved in a crash, but there were no injuries reported from the incident. “There is dense fog this morning so please drive [with] caution as first responders/utility workers work to clear the scene,” the sheriff’s office said. Missing Rooster Found At The Cracker Barrel
A rooster that participates in Civil War reenactments was reunited with his owner after going missing in the parking lot of a Cracker Barrel restaurant in Alabama. Thomas Ramsey, founder of the Muddy Rabbits Mess military reenactment group, said he started bringing his pet rooster, Peep, along on Civil War reenactments after learning about soldiers who kept similar pets on the front lines. Ramsey said he and his group, including Peep, were on their way back to Mississippi after a reenactment event in Springhill, Tenn., when they stopped at the Cracker Barrel in Cullman. He said Peep was tied up in the bed of his pickup truck, but a friend went out to check on the vehicle after about an hour and discovered Peep was gone. “I went back into the Cracker Barrel and it was very hard for me to say this with a straight face, even though I was panicking: ‘Do you have cameras in the parking lot? I think someone stole my chicken,'” Ramsey recalled to The Cullman Times.

How to Avoid Getting Ripped Off When Buying a Used Car

- Find a Vehicle That Fits Your Needs
It’s easy to focus on the numbers — age of the car, mileage and cost — but you also want to make sure you’re buying a car that’ll fit your needs for however long you expect to have it. If you have a growing family, you might want to rethink that two-door coupe or compact vehicle.
“You want to make sure there’s enough room for you,” Montoya said. “Take a look at the cargo area. Take a look at how easy it is to see out of the vehicle. Test out the entertainment system.”
- Determine How ‘Used’ You’re Willing to Go
The older a car is, the cheaper it’ll be — but the more it’s likely to have issues requiring repair. Everyone has a different comfort level when it comes to what they’re willing to handle. A general rule of thumb is that a car is driven about 12,000 miles per year. A higher average could mean the car has more wear and tear.
Montoya said used car buyers must strike a balance between the age of the car, the amount of miles and what price they’re willing to pay.
Buying an extended warranty or service plan can give you peace of mind that certain repairs or maintenance jobs will be covered.
PRO TIP
Montoya said plans sold by auto manufacturers or reputable dealerships are better options than those sold by third-party companies. Make sure you understand exactly what your plan covers.
- Make Sure The Price is Right
Before you accept a sales price, research the value of the car to make sure you’re not overpaying. Carfax, Kelley Blue Book and Edmunds all have price appraisal tools online.
You can also compare similar vehicles on the market to get an estimate of a car’s value, but keep in mind, no two used vehicles will be the same due to how they were driven and maintained. Use all this information when you sit down to negotiate — and don’t be afraid to walk away if you don’t think you’re getting a fair price.
When you’re budgeting for a car purchase, make sure you’re factoring in all the associated costs, like sales tax, insurance and getting the car registered.
- Check the History of the Car
Sometimes just looking at a car will give you some idea of its history. Rust, worn out pedals and a side panel painted in a different color are red flags.
But don’t just assume a car’s history. Getting the car’s history report, such as through Carfax, is a crucial step when buying a used car.
You’ll have to purchase the report if you’re buying from a private seller, so wait until you’re seriously interested in a particular vehicle. If you’re buying from a dealership, the salesperson should provide a copy of the vehicle history report for free.
Sharifi said to watch out for discrepancies with the odometer reading and if there’s a branded title, which indicates that the car has been significantly compromised in some way.
“Severe accidents and instances where a car has been declared a total loss should signal the buyer to use caution,” he said. “That said, a small fender bender shouldn’t always mean that a buyer should walk away from a great deal.”
- Go for a Test Drive
Always, always, always take a car for a spin before buying it. If you can bring a mechanic with you, even better.
“Some general things you can do on your own without being super knowledgeable about cars is [to] turn off the radio [and] listen for any strange noises,” Montoya said. “See if the steering wheel stays straight when you drive down the road. Does it pull to one side? Look at the tires to see how old they are.”
PRO TIP
Don’t just look at the tires’ tread. Each tire should include a four-digit number marking the month and year it was manufactured. Tires older than six years can be dried out and need replacing.
For any used car purchase, but especially if you’re buying from a private seller, have your mechanic inspect the vehicle before committing to buy.
Knowing the ins and outs of how to buy a used car will make the whole process less stressful and, most importantly, save you money.
