8 Mile TV Series In The Works

According to 50 Cent, he and Eminem are working on a television adaptation of the 2002 “8 Mile” movie.  50 Cent talked about the collaboration during a recent interview.  “We’re in motion,” the rapper told Big Boy TV. “It’s gonna be big…You know, I ain’t got no duds.”  50 Cent also shared that it was an easy task to get Eminem on board for the television series.  “I think it should be there for his legacy, because if you don’t see…it’s important to me that they understand it,” he said.  Even though the show will be an adaptation of the 2002 movie, not all the elements will be the same and the show will be more modern.   “I wanna be able to show and offer a lot more details-things you would say in an interview or different things that you’ve already used that you put out there and stuff like that,” 50 Cent said. “You’ll see those things kind of surface in the temperament of the characters.” The original movie, directed by Curtis Hanson, starred Eminem as Jimmy, a young rapper at the start of his career living in Detroit.

Queen Camilla Angry At Prince Harry

Queen Consort Camilla reportedly has been left reeling by Prince Harry’s claims about her in recent interviews.  Camilla’s close friend told Vanity Fair Sunday that the former Duchess of Cornwall is “just astounded by the whole thing.”  Sources close to King Charles III, meanwhile, told the magazine that he refuses to tolerate any comments made about his wife and believes his son crossed a line when mentioning her.  Harry’s latest onslaught of allegations include that his stepmother had planted stories to make herself look better in the press after marrying Charles in 2005 following a highly publicized affair.  “Certain members have got in bed with the devil to rehabilitate their image, but that rehabilitation has come at the detriment of others,” Harry said in an interview with ITV.  The renegade royal also went after Camilla in his new memoir, “Spare,” out Tuesday, writing that he and his brother, Prince William, urged their father not to marry their “wicked stepmother.” “Despite Willy and me urging him not to, Pa was going ahead. We pumped his hand, wished him well. No hard feelings,” he wrote. “We recognized that he was finally going to be with the woman he loved, the woman he’d always loved.”  Harry also opened up about how Camilla transformed his bedroom into her personal dressing room shortly after he moved out of Clarence House.  “I tried not to care. But especially the first time I saw it, I cared,” he wrote.
********Waah!!!!!
********Did he keep a list of every dirty look, too???
******Face it: his father has a thing for ugly women!! It happens!!!
****Camilla is so upset, she won’t let Charles put the saddle on her!!!

Dolly Parton Joins Fox Sitcom

Dolly Parton joined the cast of the Fox sitcom “Call me Kat” in a filmed segment Thursday to pay tribute to the late Leslie Jordan during the show’s season premiere, reports Entertainment Weekly.  “Usually at a memorial, people talk about somebody. Well, I’m going to talk to you, because there is that place on the other side, and I’m certainly going to see you there, little brother,” said Dolly.  “You left a lot of people here with a lot of precious, precious memories. Everybody loved you, but I doubt many of them loved you more than I did.”  Parton then struck up a tune to “Where the Soul Never Dies,” a song she and Jordan recorded for his 2021 album “Company’s Comin’.”  Jordan died on October 24, 2022 at the age of 67 after suffering a medical emergency and crashing his BMW into a building.

Hugh Jackman Says He Never Used Steroids

Hugh Jackman is famous for packing on pounds of muscle to play Wolverine in various “X-Men” movies, but he told Chris Wallace during a recent interview on HBO’sWho’s Talking to Chris Wallace” that he’s never resorted to steroids in order to transform into the character.  “Over the years people have wondered, did he juice?” Wallace asked. “Did he take steroids?”  “No, I love my job. And I love Wolverine,” Jackman said. “I got to be careful what I say here, but I had been told anecdotally what the side effects are of that. And I was like, ‘I don’t love it that much.’ So no, I just did it the old school way. And I tell you, I’ve eaten more chickens — I’m so sorry to all the vegans and vegetarians and to the chickens of the world. Literally the karma is not good for me. If the deity has anything related to chickens, I’m in trouble.”  Elsewhere in the interview, Jackson admitted that he foolishly studied wolves after accepting the role ahead of 2000’s “X-Men.”  “I had never read the comic book,” Jackman said. “I got the part. I didn’t really know anything about…I didn’t, in Australia we don’t have wolverines. I didn’t know that was a real animal. I’d never heard of a wolverine. I thought it was a made-up animal. You know, like, he’s got man hands of steel, made up. And so I was passing as I was doing rehearsal at the Imax, they had this documentary about wolves. And I was like, perfect, because obviously I’m a wolf, part wolf.”  “So I went [to set] with all these wolf moves and I was doing these moves, and the director said, ‘What are you doing?’” Jackman continued. “And I said, ‘Well, I was just thinking wolves are always looking like this because they’re actually smelling, they’ve got their nose to the ground. That’s why they’re looking like this all the time.’ And he goes, ‘What do you mean a wolf?’ And I said, ‘Well, you know, Wolverine — I’m part wolf so…’ and he goes, ‘No, you’re a wolverine.’”
**********Which means “a wolf, but s stupid one!!!”
*****Did Chris Wallace reveal how HE stays in shape??? Probably not!!
*******We took Hugh’s advice and ate three buckets of KFC!! We still don’t look like Wolverine!!

Paul McCartney Was Nearly Run Over By Abbey Road Studios

Paul McCartney was nearly run over while filming on the famous Abbey Road zebra crossing, his daughter has revealed.  Mary McCartney, photographer, director and daughter of Paul and Linda McCartney, said the incident happened outside Abbey Road Studios while filming for her new documentary about the world-famous studio, If These Walls Could Sing.  He was trying to recreate the band’s iconic cover for 1969 album ‘Abbey Road’ for the new documentary, which is out in the UK now on Disney+.  “The bit where the car nearly ran him over on the zebra crossing, that was so funny. As we were leaving [the studio], I said, ‘I’ll film you [on the crossing],’ and he went over and this car totally didn’t stop for him,” the filmmaker told S Magazine.  Fans still regularly visit the famous crossing in St John’s Wood to recreate the Fab Four’s iconic album cover, often to the frustration of London taxis and bus drivers.  ‘If These Walls Could Sing’ charts the long history of the iconic studio, and includes interviews with McCartney and Ringo Starr, alongside Elton John, Nile Rodgers, Noel and Liam Gallagher, Roger Waters, Celeste, George Lucas and more.
*********Well, that’s ONE way to go down in rock history!! “I ran over Paul McCartney on Abbey Road!!”
*****Why did Paul McCartney cross the road?? He didn’t!! He was already dead!!

STUPID NEWS

911 Abuse

Police in Saskatchewan, Canada, are reminding residents not to abuse the 911 emergency line by revealing some of the most unusual calls of 2022, including calls about clogged drains and unwanted voicemails.  RCMP Saskatchewan released its list of the top 10 non-emergency calls that “missed the mark” in 2022 by being placed to 911, including a caller who requested assistance deleting a voicemail from their phone, a caller whose bathtub drain was clogged and a caller who used the emergency line to avoid being put on hold in a request for paperwork.  Other non-emergencies that made the list of 2022’s most inappropriate 911 calls included a prank caller reporting a “cougar,” which turned out to be referencing the colloquial term for an attractive older woman.  Another caller asked operators “if they knew the name of the polite RCMP officer who had served in their community. The caller was hoping for an update to see how the officer’s family was doing. While well-meaning, this certainly would not be considered an emergency.”  A 911 caller reported their roommate had eaten their take-out order, a caller reported a “hostile cat” in their neighborhood, a caller reported they were out of milk and a caller reported that swallowing a mosquito had caused them to choke and lose their dentures, the RCMP said.  “Before dialing 911, please remember that calling the police should be reserved for police-related matters only and calling 911 should be reserved for life-threatening emergencies only,” the RCMP said.
*****This could be called “Why old people dial 911!!”

Many Hair Ties Removed From Cat

An ailing cat brought to a South Carolina animal hospital is recovering after veterinary surgeons removed 38 hair ties from the feline’s stomach.  The Charleston Animal Society said a cat named Juliet was brought in by a member of the public who reported the feline had been left outside a home when the former residents moved out of state.  Carers noticed Juliet was becoming lethargic and not eating after a couple weeks, and a radiograph discovered she had an unusual blockage in her stomach.  Leigh Jamison, associate director of veterinary care for the Charleston Animal Society, said the surgical team was stunned to discover the blockage was 38 hair ties swallowed by the cat.  “I’ve never seen anything like it,” Jamison said in the news release.  Jamison said Juliet is now recovering, but the blockage led to a liver condition that is now being treated.  “We have to make sure that as we feed her, we keep her electrolytes in balance,” Jamison said.
*******Just give her a snake to play with and she’ll be fine!!
*****She probably ate the hair ties because they reminded her of her old owner. We just made that up, but cat people will love it!!

Caught Stealing Home!

A man passed out in the bushes outside the Milwaukee Brewers’ stadium after a game and, upon awakening, entered the team’s clubhouse and stole electronics, a credit card, team memorabilia and other items, according to a criminal complaint.  The 25-year-old man was charged Dec. 14 with felony burglary, online court records show.  The complaint says the man attended a Sept. 8 doubleheader against the San Francisco Giants at Milwaukee’s American Family Field, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. He said he drank at least 10 beers, passed out, woke up and got back inside the stadium by pulling on a door until it opened.  He found his way to the clubhouse and started taking stuff from the locker room, the complaint said. A team strength coach said items taken from his office included a laptop, iPods, headphones, a passport and a credit card.  A jersey and a shaving kit were taken from manager Craig Counsell’s office, and an equipment manager said a game-used hat, an autographed bat, a 45-year anniversary 1982 signed bat, a replica World Series ring, and keys to the team’s Arizona spring training facility were stolen from his office. Two game jerseys and a bag with baseballs and pitching devices were taken from the coaches’ locker room, according to the complaint.
**********Wait. He “pulled on a door until it opened???” That’s some security system ya got there!!

Florida!!!

Two people in Florida were arrested after one of them made a 911 call to get help with moving their belongings from a home they were burglarizing, authorities said.  Deputies responded to a home Saturday after a 911 call was made but nobody spoke, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said. At the home, the deputies concluded that nobody lived there, but they found a male suspect and his girlfriend inside the home after entering it through an unlocked door.  Deputies had been searching for the male suspect after identifying him from security video as a burglar at a Dollar General store in Poinciana, Florida, where several items were stolen earlier in the day, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
**********This is why they call ’em dopes!!!
*******Don’t call them professional criminals!! They may be criminals, but they’re not very professional!!

5 Scary Financial Surprises That Could Cost You Big in 2023

THE PENNY HOARDER

Higher Interest Rates

The Federal Reserve raised interest rates seven times in 2022, and additional hikes are expected in 2023. That means carrying a credit card balance is about to become more costly. It also means you can expect a higher monthly payment if you buy a home or car in the new year.  Consider that the average 30-year mortgage rate on Dec. 20, 2022 was 6.47%, up from 3.25% at the end of 2021. On a home with a $350,000 mortgage, that translates to a monthly payment of $2,205 vs. $1,523 a year ago.  If you’ve got credit card debt (or any other debt with a variable interest rate), prioritize paying it off, as you can expect your debt to get more expensive. And if you’re buying a home or making another major purchase that requires financing, be sure to factor those higher rates into your budget. You probably can’t afford as much house as you could have a year or two ago, when interest rates were nearly zero.

Social Security Taxes

For retirees, first some good news: Social Security payments are getting their biggest cost of living increase since 1981. That raise is especially sweet because Medicare Part B premiums will drop slightly, meaning seniors can hang onto more of their Social Security checks.

The downside of fatter Social Security checks: Some recipients could end up with an unexpected tax bill. Social Security benefits are taxed at the following rates:

50% of your Social Security benefits are taxable if:

  • Half of your benefits + other income = $25,000 to $34,000 (singles filers) or $32,000 to $44,000 (married couples filing jointly).

85% of your Social Security benefits are taxable if:

  • Half of your benefits + other income = $34,000 or more (single filers) or$44,000 or more (married couples filing jointly).

If Social Security benefits are your only source of income, it’s unlikely that you’ll owe taxes. But if your higher benefit in 2023 will push your income above the thresholds listed above, start planning for your tax bill now.

Missed Student Loan Payments

If you’ve been taking advantage of student loan forbearance since March 2020 — when all payments and interest on federally held student loans were suspended — be prepared to start making payments again.  Though forbearance was extended into 2023 and sweeping student loan forgiveness is still possible, start planning now for the inevitable day that payments resume. Take a hard look at your budget to determine whether you can afford your expenses once you factor in your minimum monthly payments.

If you’re on the standard repayment plan and are unable to make the payments, apply for an income-driven repayment plan, which could substantially reduce your monthly payments when the forbearance period ends. If you’re already on an income-driven plan, update your income to modify your monthly payment.

Overdraft Fees

Overdraft fees are among the most criticized fees assessed by banks, since those who live paycheck to paycheck are the ones likely to accidentally overdraft.  The goods is that a number of institutions eliminated their overdraft fees, including Ally Bank, Alliant Credit Union and Capital One.

In 2022, Bank of America announced it’s slashing overdraft fees from $35 to $10 and intends to drop bounced check fees. Wells Fargo said that it will give customers 24 hours to make good on overdrafts, although it hasn’t budged on the $35 overdraft penalty.

What does that mean for you? If you’re banking at a place that’s socking you with fees, then maybe 2023 should be the year you find a new bank — here’s a rundown of those fee changes, plus a list of banks that don’t charge overdraft fees at all.

Widespread Uncertainty

A growing number of economists are now predicting a recession in 2023, with those polled for Bankrate’s Third-Quarter Economic Indicator pegging the odds of a recession in the next 12 to 18 months at 65%.

An emergency fund is the best way to safeguard yourself against a recession. Ideally, you’d have enough to pay for six months’ worth of necessities, but amassing this much cash can take years. Even if you’re able to stash away enough to live off of for a month or two, that will provide a valuable safety net.  Because the stock market is volatile, this is money you should keep in an FDIC-insured bank account, rather than investing it. The silver lining of those higher interest rates: Some high-yield savings accounts are now paying annual percentage yields (APYs) above 3%.
