Wednesday Addams Dies

Lisa Loring, who played the original Wednesday Addams on the TV show The Addams Family, has died. Her daughter, Vanessa Foumberg, confirmed to Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, that she died of a stroke.  Though the characters began as a newspaper cartoon created by Charles Addams in 1939, The Addams Family evolved into a popular ’60s TV show that aired in reruns for decades, as well as multiple movies. Last year, the Netflix TV series Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega, was the highest-rated debut on the streamer.  Loring was 64. Her friend Laurie Jacobson said Loring was a smoker who suffered from high blood pressure.  “She had been on life support for 3 days,” Jacobson posted on Facebook.  “Yesterday, her family made the difficult decision to remove it and she passed last night. She is embedded in the tapestry that is pop culture and in our hearts always as Wednesday Addams.”  Loring enjoyed a lifetime of fame given her association with the storied fictional family, especially in the age of comedy and sci-fi conventions and websites. Loring appeared on the sitcom The Pruitts of Southampton with Phyllis Diller and on TV series ranging from Fantasy IslandThe Girl From U.N.C.L.E. and Barnaby Jones. She also played Cricket Montgomery on the soap opera As the World Turns from 1980 – 1983.

Lisa Marie Was Millions In Debt

Lisa Marie Presley was millions of dollars in debt at the end of her life, according to a new report.  She allegedly cashed out two life insurance policies and intended to take out a third to pay off her $4 million debt, TMZ reported Monday.  Presley took out one for $25 million and another for $10 million, with family sources telling the outlet that a third may have been valued at $10 million.  She reportedly filled out paperwork to receive a lump sum of $2 million, but the policy was never cashed in because of a paperwork screwup, TMZ reported.  Of the $4 million debt she had accrued, at least half of it was meant for the IRS. She allegedly blew through her $100 million fortune throughout the course of her troubled life.  After Lisa Marie’s debts are paid, the remaining fortune will be divided among daughter Riley Keough and twins Finley and Harper Lockwood. However, Priscilla is already contesting her late daughter’s will, which ousted Priscilla as a beneficiary in 2016.

Martha Stewart Called Out For Skincare Post

Martha Stewart shared some selfies from the salon chair on Instagram yesterday highlighting her “great” complexion, and while she looked amazing, many fans didn’t believe her “no facelift” claims.  “Lying in the shampoo area of @FredericFekkai the light was perfect for a new selfie!!!” Stewart wrote, sharing a photo of herself pouting at the camera while leaning against the salon sink.  In the snap, she shows off long, luxurious eyelashes and completely smooth, wrinkle-free skin.  “Absolutely no re-imaging!!!” she wrote. “Skin looking good after a mostly dry January and pilates @bedfordpilates every other day. By re -imaging I meant no filtering my selfie !”  The cookbook author thanked the “great derms” she works with, also claiming her skin was thanks to a “great diet. Great exercise and did I mention amazing facials @mariobadescu for the last forty years!”  However, the bulk of the comment section was filled with followers who didn’t quite buy what Stewart was selling.  “I’d respect you more if you said this is what good botox and fillers do and where you put them so others could also benefit from those treatments,” one wrote. “No one in their right mind thinks this is a real 80 year old face or you got it from pilates.”  Another fan said, “As a life long fan of yours, this is very sad to me … Nothing fake, authenticity is what I loved about you. At this older age you have sold your soul to the fake Instagram life.”

Jay Leno Under Fire For Snow Plow Joke

Jay Leno is facing criticism after he made a joke about his recent motorcycle crash and Jeremy Renner’s horrific snowplow accident.  “I was riding my motorcycle up in Lake Tahoe and I came around the corner and bam, I crashed into Jeremy Renner’s snowplow,” Leno tweeted on Friday.  While still recovering from a terrifying burn accident several months ago, Leno broke multiple bones in a freak motorcycle accident Jan. 17.  Leno’s wipeout happened just weeks after Renner was in a nearly deadly snowplow accident that left him with over 30 broken bones.  Leno is known for joking about pop culture and current events, but not everyone laughed at his latest tweet.  “How is that funny,” Brooke Hammerling asked.  “Not funny. Renner broke 30 bones in the process of saving his nephew’s life. Respect to the guy. Pure guts,” John Dawson replied.  “Stay retired. That’s a terrible “joke”. Maybe your humor went up in smoke?” Bill Hynes commented.

Marilyn Manson Accused Of Assault On A Minor

Marilyn Manson allegedly groomed and repeatedly sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl in the ’90s, according to a new lawsuit.  He allegedly first attacked the girl — named as Jane Doe in the suit, filed Monday in Nassau County Supreme Court — after inviting her on his tour bus following a Dallas show in September 1995 and then threatened that “if she told anyone, he would kill her and her family.”  The filing alleges that Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, “within weeks” began calling the girl and asking her “to send explicit sexual photos of her and her friends to his fan club, Satan’s Bakesale.”  Manson, now 54, then invited her to a December 1995 show in New Orleans, where, the lawsuit claims, he took her back on his tour bus and “became more aggressive and again sexually assaulted [her], including kissing, biting her breast, oral copulation and penetration.”  On both occasions, there were allegedly other members of Manson’s entourage on the bus.  The victim alleges that she then became addicted to drugs and alcohol and was “lured into [Manson’s] dark world of drugs, alcohol, sexual deviance, harassment, abuse and assault.”  The lawsuit also names Manson’s labels, Interscope and Nothing Records, claiming they “knew or should have known that [Manson] had a history of giving drugs to female fans he allowed backstage, onto the bus and in hotel rooms, and sexually assaulting minors and women.”

A financial advice website is seeking a couple willing to test the strength of their bond by assembling IKEA furniture together for $1,000.  FinanceBuzz said it is searching for an “IKEA DIY Duo” who would be given $1,000 in IKEA store credit to purchase a bedroom set.  The couple would then be asked to assemble the furniture together and document the experience.  “FinanceBuzz is looking for a couple willing to put their relationship to the test this Valentine’s season by building an entire IKEA bedroom set together and documenting the experience,” the site said. “Just you and your significant other, a wordless instruction manual and a hex key.”  The winning couple will be awarded $1,000 for completing the task.

Aggressive Turkey On The Loose

Residents of a Minnesota neighborhood said they are under constant attack from an increasingly aggressive turkey that took up residence in the area.  Rachael Gross said the turkey first showed up at the mobile home park in Coon Rapids as part of a flock in November 2021, but the bird stayed behind when the rest of its cohorts moved on a few weeks later.  She said the turkey has since become increasingly aggressive, often attacking people and damaging cars and other property.  “This turkey attacks me every single day. Follows me, goes up my stairs, tries to get into my house. When I leave in my car, it follows my car,” Gross told WCCO-TV.  Neighbors said children have to carry sticks when they walk to the school bus stop in the morning to keep the turkey from chasing after them.

29 Year Old Tries To Enroll In High School

A 29-year-old woman used false documents to enroll as a New Jersey high school student and attended some classes over a four-day period before her scheme was discovered last week, authorities said.  It’s not yet known what the woman’s intentions were, officials said. She reportedly got the phone numbers of students who helped her find her way through New Brunswick High School and continued to text some of them days after her ruse was discovered.  The woman is banned from entering school grounds in the district, and officials advised students to not have any contact with her.  The woman provided district officials with a false birth certificate, officials said.  Schools in the state are required to immediately enroll unaccompanied children, even in the absence of records normally required for that purpose. Proof of guardianship is also not needed to immediately enroll an unaccompanied youth. Once enrolled, students have 30 days to provide additional proof of identity.  The woman was charged Tuesday with providing a false document. It wasn’t clear what sentence she might face if convicted.

The 5-Minute Habits That Help Sleep Experts Fall Asleep Faster



Do a brain dump

Anxiety is one of the main reasons people have trouble falling asleep and that can be a result of racing thoughts. One way to help minimize that is by doing a “brain dump.”

“Write down on a notepad everything that is on your mind. This ‘brain dump’ can help get thoughts out of your mind that might keep you awake,” said Rebecca Robbins, a sleep researcher and sleep expert at Oura, a device that promises to help maximize sleep, activity and recovery.

This will not only help clear your mind from the racing thoughts, but also will keep those thoughts in a tangible form, which is especially helpful for those who fear they’ll forget something important when they go to sleep.

Turn off your electronic devices

Whether it’s a computer, phone or tablet, you’ll want to steer clear of electronic devices before bedtime.

“I typically suggest placing these devices somewhere where you cannot easily grab them from your bed,” like under your pillow, said Dr. Kristin Gill, psychiatrist and chief medical officer at Minded, an online psychiatry company designed for women. “This can be helpful for resisting that temptation to start scrolling through your email or perusing social media.”

With this tip, you’ll want to stay off of your phone for at least 30 minutes before you head to bed for the night.  “The blue light from these devices can interfere with the release of the natural hormone melatonin, which helps promote sleep,” Polos added.

Practice a breathing exercise to help you unwind

You may be familiar with breathing exercises as a way to cope with anxiety, but they also can be beneficial for preparing the body for sleep.   “Breathing helps reduce physiological arousal, which is when your nervous system is in a heightened or activated state, usually due to stress or excitement,” said Sarah Silverman, a holistic sleep doctor and behavioral sleep medicine specialist. “You don’t have much control over when you actually fall asleep. Sleep is a passive process and happens when you’re not actively trying to sleep. But you do have a lot of control over your breathing and what you do to prepare your body for sleep.  One of Silverman’s favorite breathing exercises is called boxed breathing, which involves inhaling for four seconds, holding for four seconds, exhaling for four seconds and pausing for four seconds.

Gill said guided meditations designed for sleep can also be helpful, as the soothing voice can help you to unwind and provide a sense of calm necessary for sleep.

Make sure your bedroom is at a comfortable temperature

When bedtime approaches, you’ll want to make sure that your space is at a comfortable temperature ideal for promoting sleep.

“Sleeping in an environment that is too hot or cold can be disruptive, as it affects your core body temperature and can disturb your sleep in the early stages,” Polos said. “Setting your thermostat to a comfortable temperature can provide a quick fix that can help you get to sleep faster.”

Polos recommends 67 degrees to 69 degrees Fahrenheit. It takes no longer than a few seconds to make sure your thermostat is set properly and the payoff can be extremely beneficial.

Engage in a soothing and enjoyable activity

While television might be enjoyable, you’re better off engaging in an activity that doesn’t require a screen.

“Spend five minutes putting together a jigsaw puzzle, coloring a page in an adult coloring book, or playing a one-player card game like Solitaire,” Silverman said. “This is a way to do something lighthearted and also distracting, and it takes the focus away from trying to fall asleep and instead gives you something relaxing to do.”

Drink a calming beverage

You won’t want to drink a cup of coffee with a few shots of espresso right before you go to sleep. Gill recommends avoiding caffeine past 1 p.m. to help prepare the body for sleep. However, that doesn’t mean you have to stick to water.  “There are many natural and commercially produced drinks that are good for promoting sleep,” Polos said. “Natural drinks that have a history of promoting sleep include cherry juice, chamomile tea, valerian tea, peppermint tea and warm milk.”
