Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson Citizens Of Greece

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have officially become citizens of Greece.  Greek prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis shared the news Saturday on Instagram, months after signing an honorary naturalization order that offered they and their children Greek citizenship.  In a photo, Hanks and Wilson show off their new Greek passports while posing with Mitsotakis and his wife, Mareva Grabowski.  “@ritawilson @tomhanks are now proud Greek citizens!” Mitsotakis captioned the post.  Wilson is of Greek heritage, while Hanks is a Greek Orthodox convert. The couple often vacation in Greece, where they own property in Antiparos, and have produced films based on Greece and the Greek community, including My Big Fat Greek Wedding.  Hanks and Wilson were offered honorary citizenship in December after the couple helped raise awareness about the 2018 wildfires near Athens that killed dozens of people and destroyed hundreds of homes.  “Tom Hanks is a person who showed real interest in the people who suffered from the fire in Mati and promoted this issue in the global media,” Greek interior minister Takis Theodorikakos said in a statement at the time.

“Friends” Co-Stars Encourage You To Vote

The ladies from “Friends” are joining forces on social media to encourage their fans to vote in the upcoming November presidential election.  Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox and Jennifer Aniston got together for a photo designed to encourage people to register to vote and remind them that the election is less than 100 days away.  On Sunday, Kudrow, who played Phoebe Buffay on the hit 1990s sitcom, took to Instagram to share a photo of the three ladies beaming while standing shoulder-to-shoulder outside. It’s unclear when the photo was taken, but given the fact that they’re standing in close proximity to one another and not wearing masks, it’s possible they took the snap prior to COVID-19 prompting everyone to practice social distancing.   “Friends don’t let friends skip elections. Text FRIENDS to 26797 to make sure you are registered. And tag your friends below to remind them to check their registration,” she captioned the image.  Cox shared a similar message with her fans, only she posted a video from the shoot in which Aniston whispers something in her ear prior to the snap being taken. Aniston, meanwhile, shared an image of her character, Rachel Green, looking surprised along with a reminder that the election is 100 days away.

Taylor Swift Sends Kobe’s Daughter A Gift

Taylor Swift stunned fans when she released her new album “folklore” last week and “Swiftie” Natalia Bryant was even more surprised when she sent her a special gift.  The 17-year-old daughter of the late Kobe Bryant posed with the gift, a cardigan, which is also the title of Swift’s first single from the album.  Natalia’s mom, Vanessa Bryant, shared the sweet photo on social media. “Thank you @taylorswift #Cardigan,” she wrote. Natalia also shared a message for Swift via her Instagram Story. She wrote, “Thank you SO much @taylorswift! I am OBSESSED with ‘folklore.’”  Swift first reached out to the Bryant family to send condolences after Kobe and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, died in January in a tragic helicopter crash along with seven others in Calabasas, Calif.  “My heart is in pieces hearing the news of this unimaginable tragedy,” she wrote at the time.  Kobe was also a huge Swift fan and made an appearance during her “1989” world tour.

Ryan Reynolds Helping To Find Stolen Bear

Ryan Reynolds showed his support for a fellow Canadian on Saturday after learning the tragic story of her stolen Build-A-Bear.  “Vancouver: $5,000 to anyone who returns this bear to Mara. Zero questions asked. I think we all need this bear to come home,” Reynolds wrote on Twitter.  He also retweeted an article from CBC which explained the significance of the stuffed animal to Vancouver resident Mara Soriano.  Soriano, 28, had her late mother’s voice recorded and put into a custom Build-A-Bear after her mother went into hospice care for cancer treatment.  “At hospice her voice was different. Much softer. Not the mom I grew up with,” she told CBC. “That bear is the last memory I have of her speaking in her normal voice. She said that she loved me and she was proud of me and that she’ll always be with me.”  Soriano’s mom died of cancer in June 2019.  The Vancouver resident explained that the bear was stolen while she was distracted as she unpacked a van after moving.

Amber Heard Reads Message To Depp In Court

Amber Heard accused Johnny Depp of being a “needy man-child” who soiled himself during benders — while others had to clean up his “s–t, vomit and piss” like “a baby,” a UK court heard Monday.  She detailed how Depp has “embarrassed” himself “countless times” in an angry email that she drafted in 2013 — two years before their wedding — but never ended up sending, London’s High Court heard.  “I have put up with so much. I have cleaned s–t, vomit and piss up both literally and figuratively,” Heard allegedly wrote in the email, which was partly read by The Sun’s lawyer, Sasha Wass, during closing arguments in Depp’s libel trial.  “A real man doesn’t need to be cared for like a baby … I watch as other grown men have to wipe you, basically,” she wrote of the “enablers” she claimed Depp paid to help cover up the aftermath, the court heard.  “Yesterday, I saw you pass out, amongst vomiting, three times,” she allegedly wrote, with the star’s late security chief having to pick him up each time.  Another staffer also complained about “how many times he’s had to break into locked doors to wake you up, after passing out on the toilet,” Heard wrote in the email.  “If someone filmed you while you were in this state you would be mortified,” she complained. “It’s embarrassing just watching it happen.”

Elvis Impersonator Breaks Record

A Norwegian Elvis Presley impersonator broke a Guinness World Record by performing the famed singer’s catalog for 50 hours, 50 minutes and 50 seconds.  Kjell Henning Bjornstad, 52, aka Kjell Elvis, started performing Thursday at a bar in Oslo, and continued to sing until he reached his goal of 50 hours, 50 minutes and 50 seconds on Saturday.  Bjornstad had previously broken the record for longest Elvis Presley singing marathon in 2003, but his record was broken the next year by German singer Thomas “Curtis” Gathje, whose record of 43 hours, 11 minutes and 11 seconds stood until being challenged by Bjornstad this month.  The singer, who was left hoarse following his successful Guinness World Record attempt, said it was the last time he will attempt a singing marathon world record.

St. Bernard Rescued From Mountain

A St. Bernard, a breed of dog famous for conducting mountain rescues, was the subject of a rescue when it collapsed on England’s highest mountain.  The Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team said in a Facebook post the owners of the dog, named Daisy, contacted rescuers to report the St. Bernard had collapsed and appeared to be experiencing pain in her hind legs while descending Scafell Pike in northwest England.  The team said it took a 16 group members about five hours to successfully bring Daisy back to where her owners could transport her in a vehicle.  “Daisy’s owners were able to keep her well-hydrated and fed until team members were able to get on scene with a stretcher to help get them moving again quickly as the weather was due to deteriorate later that evening,” the rescue team said.  The team carried the 121-pound dog, who the post said had “a hard start in life” before being rescued by her owners just a few months ago, down the mountain on the stretcher.  See the video HERE.

Beer Spills All Over The Highway!

An overturned tractor-trailer created an unusual traffic hazard Monday morning when it spilled beer all over the New Jersey side of the Ben Franklin Bridge.  Police said the tractor-trailer driver lost control about 6 a.m. Monday on Route 676 southbound, just across the Ben Franklin Bridge from Pennsylvania, and the vehicle landed on its side.  Officials said the truck was carrying a load of beer, which spilled across the roadway.  Crews were on scene to clean up the mess.  The driver of the truck was treated for minor injuries.

*******The beer poured down the side of the truck so… no foam!!
*******A truck full of pretzels rushed to the scene!!

Man Breaks Strange Watermelon Record

A serial record breaker armed himself with a machete and chopped through 50 watermelons placed on the head of a friend in 60 seconds.  Ashrita Furman, whose Guinness World Record-breaking career has included more than 600 titles, chopped through 50 watermelons placed on Homagni Baptista’s head in Karambunai, Sabath, Malaysia.  The number was enough for Furman to capture another world record title, Guinness said.  Furman previously made headlines when he used a machete to chop through 26 watermelons placed on his own stomach in 1 minute.  See the video HERE.
