Ozzy Posts “Love You” Message To His Fans
Ozzy Osbourne made sure to tell his fans how much he loves them just hours before his “life-altering” surgery. He shared his 2010 song “I Love You All” to his Instagram Story Monday, eerily zeroing in on the lyrics, “For all these years you’ve stood by me / God bless, I love you all.” A source close to the family says that Osbourne will need a “lengthy amount of convalescence” due to his age and the intensive nature of the surgery, which will remove and realign pins in his neck and back. His wife, Sharon Osbourne, has flown in from London to support him while he’s in recovery. In an interview on the British show “The Talk” last week, Sharon said the “major operation” could “determine the rest of his life.” Most of the rehabilitation is set to take place under full-time care at his home over the course of a couple months. Ozzy needed 15 screws to be inserted into his spine after he tripped in his Los Angeles home in the middle of the night in 2019. Queen Elizabeth Attends Royal Event With A Cane
Queen Elizabeth II used a cane Monday as she posed for an official photo with her son Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, during the Order of the Garter service at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. She held onto the walking stick in one hand and held her green purse in the other as she attended the event wearing a sparkling white gown. “The Order of the Garter is Britain’s oldest and most senior Order of Chivalry, established by King Edward III nearly 700 years ago,” Clarence House tweeted Monday. “At today’s service, The Duchess of Cornwall was formally invested as Royal Lady of the Order of the Garter.” The statement continued, “Individuals are appointed to the Order in recognition of their dedication to public service.” Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, as well as Princess Anne and her husband, Timothy Laurence, also attended the royal event. The Queen, who has sat on the throne for an unprecedented 70 years and is the longest-reigning monarch in British history, appeared to be in good shape and put on a smile for Monday’s photo op.

When Jennifer Hudson won a Tony Award for producing A Strange Loop on Sunday night, she became one of the rare artists with an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony, thereby earning “EGOT” distinction. In the past 15 years, she won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Interactive Media for a Daytime Program for Baba Yaga, as well as Grammys for Best R&B Album for her self-titled record and Best Musical Theater Album for The Color Purple, and an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in Dreamgirls. Hudson is the second Black woman to achieve EGOT status after Whoopi Goldberg in 2002. Composer Alan Menken was the last artist to accomplish the feat in 2020.

Amber Heard Doesn’t Blame Jury For Loss In Trial
Amber Heard told Savannah Guthrie of the “Today Show” that she doesn’t “blame” the jury for unanimously finding that she had defamed her ex-husband Johnny Depp and awarding him more than $10 million in damages. “I don’t blame them,” she said in the teaser, wearing a green blouse and her hair down. “I actually understand. He is a beloved character and people feel they know him. He’s a fantastic actor.” NBC released the two-minute clip from the blockbuster interview set to air on Tuesday, Wednesday and in a one-hour special on “Dateline” Friday. It is the first time Heard has spoken publicly since the devastating loss. Guthrie did not hold back. “There is no polite way to say it. The jury looked at the evidence you presented, they listened to your testimony, and they did not believe you. They thought you were lying,” the journalist said. “How could they not come to that conclusion,” Heard replied calmly. “They had sat in those seats and heard over three weeks of nonstop, relentless testimony from paid employees, and toward the end of the trial, randos.” Heard was referring to strangers who came forward toward the end of the trial to testify on behalf of Depp – including a luxury trailer park owner and a TMZ field producer.

Depp’s “Cry Baby” Harley For Sale
A Johnny Depp fan has put the Harley-Davidson he used in the 1990 cult classic “Cry-Baby” up for sale. The 1955 Model K is going under the hammer by Kruse GWS Auctions, which set the opening bid at a cool $250,000, TMZ first reported. Potential bidders will need to bid in increments of $25,000 for a chance to win the coveted ride, which the auction house describes as “an iconic one-of-a-kind cinema vehicle as this was the ‘picture bike’ used throughout filming in principal photography on location in Maryland and in second unit photography in Los Angeles.” It added that the red Harley “was acquired at the end of filming by Josh Spring, who worked as Best Boy Electric on the film (credited) and acquired the bike directly from the picture car coordinator Frank Tamburo (credited).” The bike, which is currently housed in a Missouri museum, will be accompanied by two letters of provenance from Spring and a Maryland title in his name, the company says. “Since the filming the tachymeter was changed for a speedometer, and a chain guard was added so it could be driven,” GWS Auctions says on its website. “The running condition is unknown as the vehicle has been sitting displayed and exhibited at various locations for many years,” it adds in a word of caution. The auction opens June 25th.

John Stamos is “disappointed” in the Tony Awards for not including Bob Saget in the In Memoriam segment. “Disappointed to hear that @bobsaget will be LEFT OUT of the In Memoriam segment tonight @TheTonyawards,” the “Grandfathered” alum, 58, tweeted ahead of Sunday’s awards show. “Bob was brilliant in ‘The Drowsy Chaperone’ & ‘Hand to God,’” the actor continued. “Come on @BroadwayLeague and @TheWing! Do the right thing! Bob loved Broadway and I know the community loved him.” Stamos encouraged his Twitter followers to “make some noise” about the snub. His tweets came three days after he revealed the last text message his late “Full House” costar sent him ahead of Saget’s death in January. Tortilla Tossing Champ
A British man put his frisbee-tossing skills to the test by breaking the Guinness World Record for throwing a tortilla. Oliver Miles told Guinness World Records he decided to attempt the world record after watching a YouTube video while in COVID-19 lockdown. “Attempting this gave me something to focus on during lockdown, which really helped my mental health, and actually breaking the world record will really prove those efforts weren’t in vain,” Miles told Guinness. He managed a distance of 90 feet, 11 inches. “It’s a funny feeling. It’s a super silly world record. I can’t believe I’m the person who can throw a tortilla the furthest in the world,” Miles told The Comet newspaper. Miles said the record stood at 30 feet,1 inch when he originally decided to break the record. That mark was bested in the meantime by serial record-breaker David Rush, who achieved a throw of 54 feet, 5 inches. Rush’s mark was again beaten before Miles managed to take the top spot.

Mexico’s Biggest Hamburger
A team of chefs at a festival in Mexico cooked up a 629.4-pound hamburger said to be the largest in the country’s history. The chefs at the 2nd annual International Hamburger Festival in Mazatlan worked together during the event to cook the massive burger in about 10 minutes. Organizers said the burger would be cut into portions and provided to local food charities. The burger was nearly double the size of a 343.9-pound hamburger created at last year’s festival. Organizers said this year’s burger set a national record for Mexico, and they are making plans for next year’s festival to feature a burger to beat the Guinness World Record of 2,566 pounds, 9 ounces, which was set in Germany in 2017.

Colorado Town Trying To Change Its Name To “Kush”
A Colorado board of trustees is weighing a proposal to change is town’s name from Moffat to Kush, in honor of the local marijuana industry. Mike Biggio, co-founder of Moffat-based Area 420, a 420-acre business park that hosts 70 cannabis growing operations and marijuana-based businesses, proposed that the Moffat Board of Trustees rename the town to a slang term for marijuana that is found in the names of several popular strains. “I’m looking to establish this as a world-renowned cannabis region,” Biggio told the Denver Post of his proposal for the town of about 100 residents. Biggio presented his proposal to the board of trustees at Tuesday night’s meeting. The board is expected to vote on the suggestion at a later date.

IKEA Wants To Name Your Baby
Swedish retailer Ikea is known for the distinctive names of its flat-pack home products. The company’s Norway branch wants to use the brand’s experience to help parents browsing the baby-naming department. Ikea Norway has built “a name bank” with more than 800 listings available on its website. The names are drawn from ones Ikea has given to its furniture instead of product numbers since 1948. “After all these years, (Ikea) has built up a large ‘catalog’ to pick from,” Ikea Norway said in a statement. Ikea names its products after Swedish towns, lakes and other geographical features, but also uses names that have traditionally gone to people. The branch noted that while retailers saw “both a shortage of raw materials and challenges with delivery times” during the COVID-19 pandemic, “there is at least no shortage of children” in Norway. The Scandinavian country registered the births of 56,060 babies last year, or 3,081 more than in 2020.

Easy Ways To Save Money When You Order An Iced Coffee

Ask for ice in a separate glass
You can avoid the whole my-iced-coffee-is-half-ice thing by simply asking for ice in a separate cup. “You can do this for standard ice, but also for Frappuccino blended drinks — simply ask for the blended element in a separate cup to the rest of the drink so you can add however much you would like to your coffee,” suggested Kevin Lewis, founder of a U.K.-based coffee blog and the coffee-focused YouTube channel Coffee Kev.
Bring your own extra-large reusable cup
When you bring your own cup, it’s better for the environment — and you may also get to pay a little less, if you’re lucky. “The barista may not know exactly what size the cup is, and will often charge a standard own-cup charge, or charge for a regular,” Lewis said. In other words, all that ice won’t matter as much if you’re not paying an arm and a leg for it.
See if your coffee shop offers a cold foam topping
Traditional steamed milk won’t work in an iced coffee beverage, because the hot milk will melt your ice. But that doesn’t mean your iced lattes and cappuccinos have to be totally foam-free.
“Most coffee shops offer a cold foam or cold topping where milk or cream is frothed/mixed cold and then added as a topping to your beverage,” said Bethany Smith, former barista and writer for the coffee site A Cup Every Day. “This is a common addition to cold brew, but can also be added on top of a latte or iced coffee.”
And if they don’t offer a cold foam topping, ask for a cocktail-style shake of your coffee and milk. “Some coffee shops (such as Starbucks) offer shaken espresso drinks, which is where they combine the espresso and milk together and then shake it together in something similar to a cocktail shaker,” Smith said. “It creates a frothier beverage that more closely mimics a hot latte.”
Ask for an extra shot of espresso in your iced coffee
This sounds like a way to spend more money on your iced coffee, but it could actually be a money saver in the long run. “An extra shot normally costs less than a stand-alone espresso,” said Kieran MacRae, resident coffee expert at Above Average Coffee. “I’ve seen cafes where a stand-alone espresso is $1.90 and an extra shot is only 50 cents!” So, if it prevents you from needing a second coffee later, you can save money overall.
Ask for larger cubes
If your coffee shop has them, large ice cubes can be the way to go. “Large cubes will melt slowly, prolonging the coffee from becoming diluted,” said Rosio Flores, a barista trainer at La Monarca Bakery, a Mexican-owned bakery and coffee shop. “Or just request light ice.”
Or, Just make it at home
If you really want to make your iced coffee or other summer coffee beverage right, do it yourself — and spend less money while you’re at it.
“Iced coffee is remarkably easy to make at home for a fraction of the price you pay at most cafes. You can either buy an iced coffee machine cheaply (like the Mr. Coffee Iced Coffee Maker), or else simply use a normal drip coffee maker,” said James Hyslop, co-founder of the home coffee brewing-focused site The Coffee Folk.
You can also use a cold brew bottle like the one made by Hario, which allows you to make a single serving in one portable container.
Are coffee shops trying to rip you off during iced coffee season? Probably not on purpose, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen. Luckily, there are a handful of hacks out there that can help you get your money’s worth, so put them to work.
