SpaceX Astronauts Blast AC/DC

On Saturday, two NASA astronauts successfully launched via SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spacecraft, and they had some anthemic music to hype them up. On the way to the launchpad at Florida’s Kennedy Space Center, astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley blasted AC/DC’s “Back in Black”. Also, they woke up on Sunday morning to Black Sabbath’s “Planet Caravan” in space prior to docking at the International Space Station.  The mission, a joint venture between NASA and Elon Musk’s SpaceX company, is the first one of its kind from U.S. soil since 2011, when NASA ended its Space Shuttle Program.
*******They wisely got off the planet at just the right time!!
*****They should have played something by “The Escape Club!!”
******Or maybe “Skyway to Hell?”
******If you’re sitting in a spaceship built by Elon Muck, you gotta be thinking: “Isn’t this the crazy guy who launched a Tesla into outer space?”

Bindi Irwin Keeping Her Father’s Last Name

Bindi Irwin says she’s keeping her maiden name as a way to honor her late dad, Steve Irwin.  She explained her decision to keep her last name in an interview with Entertainment Tonight following her wedding to Chandler Powell.  “I’ve kept Bindi Irwin,” Irwin said. “I think that for me personally, after dad passed away it was really important for me to feel close to him, and having his last name means so much to me.”  “Chandler has become an Irwin now,” she added. “It has become a part of me. Everyone has their own ideas, but the nice thing is that it’s 2020 now, anything works!”  They married at an intimate wedding at the Australia Zoo in March. Irwin’s mom, Terri Irwin, and brother, Robert Irwin, were the only guests in attendance, as Irwin and Powell had to change their wedding plans due to the pandemic.
*****It also makes it easier after the divorce!!
******This is a nice “starter marriage” for both of them!!

Lori Loughlin’s Daughter Faces Backlash

Lori Loughlin’s daughter Olivia Jade spoke out about using her “white privilege” to combat racism in a new post on her Instagram Stories.  She committed to calling out racist acts as thousands of demonstrators took the streets across the nation over the weekend to protest the police killing of George Floyd.  She wrote that white people “need to understand that just ‘not being racist is not enough’ if you hear people saying disrespectful things, correct them.”  But she faced criticism online.  “SHES THE DEFINITION OF WHITE PRIVILEGE SHE CONTRIBUTED TO IT WILLINGLY…her parents cheated her way into a school and only got 2 months in jail..she is not allowed to speak on the matter,” one person wrote on Twitter.  “Her white privileged got her out of trouble,” said another. “She needs a reality check! So tone deaf!” expressed someone else.  One person wrote: “The college admissions scandal contributes to the sense of outrage felt by many who take to the streets and violently protest systemic entitlement, privilege and discrimination, while sweet lil olivia jade drops make-up tutorials like nothing happened. dumb, clueless and tone deaf.”
*******Here’s the lesson: Don’t even try to be politically correct. You’re just falling down the rabbit hole!!
*****Is anyone else tired of all the virtue-signaling by companies and celebrities?? Like TV stars acting like they’re down to riot??
******Olivia should stick to makeup, and forget politics!!

Prince Andrew Banished From Royal Family

Prince Andrew is a “toxic” presence to the British royal family and won’t be reporting to duty anytime soon.  Palace sources described the disgraced Duke of York as a “busted flush” to U.K.’s Sunday Times whose presence in the family is “toxic.”  According to the outlet, the royal family has “no plans to review” the 60-year-old’s position, and his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, is resigned to her son’s withdrawal from public life.  But the prince, who reportedly hoped his status change would only be temporary, had recently hired public relations specialist Mark Gallagher in an effort to clear his name and clean up his tarnished reputation, the outlet noted.  Andrew was photographed last month with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson packing up gift bags for British hospice workers during the coronavirus pandemic. However, the royal family told the outlet that nothing has changed since Andrew announced in November 2019 he was stepping back from his duties “for the foreseeable future.  The Netflix docuseries “Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich” premiered last week, resurfacing allegations from Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who claimed Epstein forced her to have sex with Andrew in 2001 when she was 17.  Andrew has denied the allegations.
*******If you watch the series, you’ll notice they threw Andrew under the bus, but carefully cleared Bill Clinton!! Hmmmm…
****The Queen said, “I told you nothing good comes from hanging out with American presidents!!”
******His dad told him, “You’d better hand over your little black book to me for safekeeping!!”

Kim and Kanye To Sue Former Bodyguard

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have taken legal action against West’s former bodyguard who described the rapper as the “neediest, moodiest and worst tipper.”  They sent a cease and desist letter threatening Steve Stanulis with a $10 million lawsuit if he publicly speaks about West again, TMZ reported.  The letter alleges Stanulis made “false and defamatory” statements on the “Hollywood Raw with Dax Holt and Adam Glyn” podcast and claims he breached his confidentiality agreement, which he purportedly signed in February 2016.  “It is unfortunate that this private matter between all parties has gotten out, however, no breach of any confidentiality agreement was done,” Stanulis’ rep told Page Six in a statement on Monday. “My client went on a podcast to promote his new film ‘5th Borough’ that is set to come out June 3rd and old stories that were already out there were brought up.”
*******One thing’s for sure: a lawsuit by Kimye would make Steve Stanulis a lot more famous!!

Ryan Gosling To Play The Wolfman

Following the success of The Invisible Man, next up for the reboot treatment is Wolfman, which is being developed as a starring vehicle for Ryan Gosling. Variety reports that Universal has begun meeting with directors and that Cory Finley – who recently won positive reviews for Bad Education – is said to be frontrunner. No decision has yet been made.  The new version of Wolfman is believed to be set in present times and will be similar to Jake Gyllenhaal’s thriller Nightcrawler but with a sci-fi twist. Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo – best known for writing Netflix’s Orange is the New Black – have penned the script, the idea for which was originally pitched by Gosling.  Wolfman is the latest Universal monster to be brought back by the studio. A new Dracula movie is currently in development with director Karyn Kusama, while Paul Feig has been working on Dark Army, which will bring together multiple new and old monsters.

Super-healthy Gwyneth Paltrow didn’t always live on a strict diet free of gluten, meat, soy, corn, dairy, caffeine, sugar, alcohol, potatoes and tomatoes.  There was a time in her life as a struggling actress when she seemed to survive on cigarettes alone!  “I remember Gwynnie from the days when she smoked like a chimney,” reported a pal.  “She was always naturally skinny but was more into Marlboro cigarettes than macrobiotic food!”  Paltrow, 47, said she’s down to just one cigarette a week now.

Rob’s Recipe For Disaster!-(Globe)

Batty “Twilight” vampire Robert Pattinson proved he should stay out of the kitchen-his new, wacky biz plan for selling fast-food pasta literally went up in smoke!  “I was trying to figure out how to capitalize in this area of the market, and I was trying to think:  ‘How do you make a pasta which you can hold in your hand,’” rambled the British hunk during a FaceTime confession with a totally perplexed reporter.  “All right, so obviously, first things first, you gotta microwave the pasta,” explained the 34-year-old star, launching into a disastrous demo of a gross prototype recipe.  “I found after a lot of experimentation…….to congeal everything in an enormous amount of sugar and cheese….It really needs a sugar crust,” he garbled before adding bread crumbs and red sauce.  He also burned himself on the bowl!  “No idea if it’s cooked or not,” he admitted.  “I mean, there’s absolutely no chance this is gonna work.”  Topping off the hot mess with a burger bun the bewildered actor lamented:  “I literally did this yesterday.  And now it’s just impossible.  It’s going to look like I can’t cook at all.”  Now for the piece de resistance:  The culinary creation literally exploded, with a lightning bolt erupting from his oven!

Cat Stows Away In Moving Truck

An Australian woman was reunited with her cat after the pet stowed away on a neighbor’s moving truck and took a journey of more than 700 miles.  Georgia Whipp of Longreach, Queensland, said her neighbors moved out Friday night, and she noticed about a half hour after the moving truck left that her cat, P-Puss, was missing.  Whipp said she was especially concerned when the feline didn’t show up for breakfast the next morning.  “I was wondering if she did get into the truck, because she gets into cars if someone’s parked out the front and left their windows down,” she told the Australian Broadcasting Corp.  Whipp contacted the moving company that helped her neighbors and received word later in the day that drivers had located P-Puss at the truck depot in Brisbane, nearly 750 miles from home.  She said a second call came in from the company a half hour later, informing her that the cat had escaped from the container.  Whipp said the employees caught P-Puss again the next night when the cat tripped security alarms.

Viking Ship Found Buried

Officials in a Norwegian county announced a 1,000-year-old Viking ship has been found buried on the same island where a ship of similar vintage was found six months earlier.  The More and Romsdal County Council said the eight-oared vessel measuring just under 40 feet long was found buried on the island of Edoya, less than 500 feet from where a Viking ship from the same time period was found buried in late 2019.  The ship was located via geo-radar survey, officials said. The survey also identified two houses and five burial mounds.  “This helps strengthen our impression of Edoya as a power center in the Iron Age,” Bjorn Ringstad, county conservator for More and Romsdal, said in a news release.

Cat Trapped Between 2 Walls

Animal services officers in California shared video of the rescue of a cat that somehow ended up trapped in the narrow gap between two brick walls.  The Riverside County Department of Animal Services said Officer Matthew Perez responded to an address in Cathedral City on Tuesday morning when a resident reported hearing a cat meowing from behind a wall.  Perez located the cat in the gap between two walls, but discovered the frightened feline would “ball up and make itself bigger” when he attempted to extract it from the tight space.  The officer called a supervisor and requested to sedate the cat to keep it calm during the rescue. Officer Cole Woods was dispatched with a sedative and assisted Perez with the rescue.  Animal services officials said they are now attempting to identify the feline’s owner.

Vintage Cognac Auctioned

A 1762 vintage bottle of cognac, one of the oldest surviving cognacs in the world, sold for $146,000 at an online auction.  The Gautier cognac, one of only three surviving bottles of the spirit, was sold Thursday by Sotheby’s auction house.  The auction house said the bottle is known as the “grand frere,” or “big brother,” as it is the largest of three surviving bottles from the collection. The bottle known as “little brother” was sold at a New York auction in 2014 and the “little sister” is on display at the Gautier Museum in the Cognac region of France.  The former owner of the bottles said they were brought to the family by a man named Alphonse, who was adopted by the former owner’s great-grandparents. The family story holds that Alphonse left home to work in the Cognac region and returned with a cart full of bottles a decade later, before his death in World War I.

A LIST FOR TUESDAY

9 Issues People Are Bringing Up Most In Therapy During Coronavirus

Huffington Post

  1. “I feel burned out.”

Those on the front lines — health care professionals, delivery drivers, postal workers, garbage collectors, grocery store employees and law enforcement officials, just to name a few — are facing physical, mental and emotional exhaustion.

But even those who are able to do their jobs at home, as well as people who are out of work, are experiencing a degree of burnout, said Ryan Howes, a psychologist in Pasadena, California.

“Their physical output and workload may have declined, but the massive changes that have taken place, the waiting for this to be over, and some new responsibilities like homeschooling or trying to communicate electronically take their toll as well,” he said.

Plus, many of the activities and interactions that replenish us when we feel depleted are off the table right now.

“Whatever used to get them excited for the day or the weekend — like social events, travel or trying a new restaurant — all of those assets are on hold,” Howes said. “So every effort feels like they’re giving from a deficit.”

  1. “I’m really worried about my family.”

Stress about relatives’ health and safety is a theme that keeps popping up in sessions, according to Chicago therapist Anna Poss.

“This includes worry about family members who are in high-risk groups, are essential workers on the front lines or are not taking guidance about social distancing and safety precautions seriously,” she said.

Poss works with her patients to develop tools to help manage this anxiety, such as journaling, meditation and other relaxation practices.

  1. “I feel guilty about finding pockets of joy in all of this.”

Some of Howes’ clients are enjoying certain aspects of life in quarantine. Then they beat themselves up for feeling that way, knowing that others are having a much harder time.

“They enjoy not going to work, or they like spending more time with family, or they like taking a break from social events,” he said. “And when some joy creeps in, they feel like a monster for feeling good when so many are struggling and suffering.”

Howes’ advice? Rather than criticizing yourself, embrace those sunny spots when they appear. “That might help ourselves and others get through this,” he said.

  1. “I’m grieving the loss of my old life.”

When we think of grief, we often think of mourning the loss of a person or perhaps a pet. But you can grieve other types of losses, too.

“[My clients] have lost their routine, their schedule, their sense of security, their plans for the next few months, and of course many have lost jobs or loved ones,” Howes said. “Once they can identify that feeling as grief, they can give themselves permission to cry, seek comfort, process the loss and eventually move forward.”

  1. “I don’t know what my future looks like anymore and that scares me.”

Humans crave control over their lives. We look for signs of certainty about what the future holds. Because of the pandemic, we no longer have a sense of what the coming weeks, months, even years might look like.

Zainab Delawalla, a clinical psychologist in Atlanta, said her clients worry about how the pandemic will change the trajectory of their lives. This is particularly unsettling for her patients who were already in the middle of a transition when the pandemic hit, “like graduating seniors, those between jobs or those who recently moved their elderly parents to assisted living facilities.”

“We can often look back and reflect on a critical event or decision that changed the course of our path,” Delawalla said. “But it is rare to experience in real time that something that’s happening today is potentially changing the future course of our lives.”

  1. “I’m worried about money.”

“Fears about financial security and losing jobs are not merely the products of over-anxious minds right now,” Poss said.

Her clients have legitimate concerns about how the pandemic will impact their careers, health insurance and other financial plans.

For example, Poss said people are wondering: “Will they be able to retire? Will it be a struggle like the 2008 recession? Will people with chronic disease have insurance to cover treatment?”

  1. “Being home all the time has created friction with my partner.”

Couples who once spent most of the day apart are now living and working under the same roof. This “forced togetherness,” as Delawalla put it, has brought certain relationship tensions to the surface.

“Division of household labor, for example, is something that is much easier to estimate now that both partners are home all the time,” she said. “What seemed equitable before the pandemic because of varying work schedules no longer seems that way.”

To address this, Delawalla helps her clients learn how to stop taking their partner’s behavior personally.

“For example, when your partner is doing something annoying, instead of thinking ’he/she is giving me a hard time,’ reframe that into ‘he/she is having a hard time.’”

  1. “I’m questioning my faith.”

Sessions with Delawalla’s clients have taken a more philosophical turn amid the pandemic. Some are losing faith in the religious or spiritual beliefs that once brought them comfort. Others have concerns about the government’s ability to protect them in a crisis of this magnitude.

“The feeling that you have to rely only on yourself for protection has added to the anxiety for some and, for others, has led to feelings of anger,” she said.

  1. “It feels like the whole world is anxious right now.”

It seems like everyone you talk to these days is experiencing some degree of anxiety — and that’s certainly unsettling. But some of Howes’ clients who have dealt with anxiety for a long time say they actually feel prepared in some ways for the present circumstances.

“They are recognizing that they have been training for this for a good portion of their life, and they feel equipped to battle this anxiety,” he said. “Some of them have already spent months or years battling their anxiety in therapy or through reading books or joining online forums. They’ve acquired a lot of self-knowledge and anxiety-busting tips along the way.”

Those who lived with anxiety pre-pandemic now feel “seen and heard” by others in a way they didn’t before.
