Royals Send Congrats To Harry and Meghan

Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton wanted to congratulate the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the birth of their second child in a special way.  On Friday, Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry welcomed their second child, a daughter named Lilibet “Lili” Diana MountbattenWindsor in California.  The name pays tribute to both Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, whose family nickname is Lilibet, and his late mother, Princess Diana.  On Monday, a source told Us Weekly that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were “informed about the birth and have sent Lilibet a gift.”  The couple also took to Instagram to show their support for the growing family after news of the birth broke on Sunday.  “We are all delighted by the happy news of the arrival of baby Lili,” they captioned.  “Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie,” they added.  The baby girl was born at 11:40 a.m. at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California, and weighed in at 7 lbs, 11 oz, a spokesperson for the couple said. The child is eighth in line to the British throne.

A Quiet Place 3 In The Works

Paramount Pictures has announced it will release a third A Quiet Place thriller on March 31, 2023.  The second film is currently No. 1 at the North American box office after earning $48.4 million in receipts last weekend.  This is the highest box office take in the United States and Canada since the coronavirus pandemic shut down most cinemas and caused the cancellation of film releases more than a year ago.  The third movie will be helmed by Midnight Special, Mud, Take Shelter and Loving filmmaker Jeff Nichols.  Nichols will take over from John Krasinski, who directed and acted alongside his wife, Emily Blunt, in the first two pictures about sound-sensitive monsters wreaking havoc on a small town in upstate New York.  Krasinski’s character was killed at the end of the first movie, but is seen via flashback in the sequel.

New York Getting Big Concert To Reopen City

To celebrate New York’s apparent reopening, Mayor Bill de Blasio is planning a large-scale performance by multiple acts in Central Park and is working with veteran producer and executive Clive Davis to help organize the talent, according to a report Monday in the New York Times.  No acts have been confirmed for the show, which is tentatively set for Aug. 21, although Davis told the paper said he is aiming for eight “iconic” stars to perform a three-hour show for 60,000 attendees and a worldwide television audience.  The Mayor said the concert would be part of a “Homecoming Week” to demonstrate that New York City is coming back from the pandemic. “This concert is going to be a once in a lifetime opportunity,” he said. “It’s going to be an amazing lineup. The whole week is going to be like nothing you’ve ever seen before in New York City.”

Mariah Carey Clarifies Relationship With Jay-Z

Less than two days after reports circulated that Mariah Carey had parted ways with Jay-Z and his management company, Roc Nation, Carey took to Twitter Monday to address the rumors.   “The only “explosive” situation I’d ever “get into” with Hov is a creative tangent, such as our #1 song ‘Heartbreaker’,” the 51-year-old singer wrote in a tweet. “To the people who make up these lies I say “Poof! —Vamoose, sonofa*****”!”  On Friday, The Sun reported Carey had one foot out of the door after an explosive meeting with Jay-Z regarding the future of her career.  “Mariah and Jay had an explosive meeting which did not go well at all,” a source close to the situation told the news outlet. “She has made it clear she wants nothing more to do with him and has called it quits with Roc Nation. She will formally depart in the next few weeks. It is a shame because they had done some great work in the last few years. But this meeting couldn’t have gone much worse.”  The rumors arrive nearly four years after Carey signed with Roc Nation after firing her former manager Stella Bulochnikov. Since signing with the Roc, she has released her 30th anniversary album The Rarities as well as her best-selling memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey.
*******This sounds like Rich People Problems!!
******Jay-Z probably asked her to lose some weight!!

Bear Locks Itself In Car

A Georgia teacher visiting Tennessee woke up one morning to find a bear had locked itself inside her parked car.  Mary Jane Yarbrough, an art teacher at Warner Robins High School in Houston County, Ga., said she is in Gatlinburg to take a class for a project she is planning for her students next year.  Yarbrough said her car had been left parked on an incline overnight and a bear had apparently managed to open a door and climb inside before the door slammed shut behind the animal.  “It was 6 in the morning and I just keep hearing honking happening,” Yarbrough told WMAZ-TV. “I open the door. My dog is going crazy and I see that it’s my car that is honking and shaking and I was like ‘Oh my gosh, someone is in there. Someone is stuck in my car.'”  Yarbrough called police when she discovered the occupant of her car was actually a black bear. Officers were able to help the bear get out of the vehicle, but not before it caused significant damage.

Zombie Eye Invented

A “third eye” has been created to prevent “smartphone zombies” from walking into things while focused on their screens.  South Korean industrial designer Paeng Min-wook says the robotic eyeball can be strapped to a person’s forehead, allowing them to browse injury-free.  He said the device was a “satirical solution” which he hoped would make people “recognise the severity of their gadget addiction and look back at themselves”.  The device – called The Third Eye – senses when the user’s head has been lowered to look at the phone and it then opens its translucent eyelid.  When the person comes within one or two meters of an obstacle, the third eye beeps to warn them of danger.  Mr Paeng said: “This is the look of future mankind with three eyes.  “As we cannot take our eyes off from smartphones, the extra eye will be needed in future.”  Mr Paeng, a postgraduate student in innovation design at the Royal College of Art and Imperial College London, has trialled the device around Seoul.  The Third Eye uses a gyro sensor to measure the angle of the user’s neck and an ultrasonic sensor to calculate the distance between the robotic eye and obstacles.

Time Capsule Found In Pub

A man in the U.K. recently found a time capsule from the 1970s hidden in the walls of his pub.   Toby Brett has owned Holcombe Farmshop and Kitchen, in the English town of Radstock for 11 years.  However, he only discovered what had been hiding in his walls recently, as he was renovating the 200-year-old building, according to SWNS.  “It was certainly a surprise to find it,” Brett told SWNS. “It was a really pleasant find. There’s some really interesting stuff in there.”  The time capsule included a price list from 1971, a few pounds of ha’ppenies (or halfpennies), stamps, a wage slip, old beer mats and car tax discs, SWNS reported.   “It was quite funny to see the price list from 1971 for Wadworth Brewery, which is a brewery we still use today,” Brett said. “It’s definitely changed a bit since then.”  Brett also told the news agency that the person who left the time capsule even wrote a note apologizing for only leaving halfpennies.  The capsule also included a note — dated July 13, 1973 and signed by Pockson — that said: “To the present owner from a past owner, good luck.”
TOPIC: If you were making a Time Capsule from today, what would you put in it???

NASA To Investigate UFOs

NASA’s new chief isn’t satisfied with the Pentagon’s inconclusive UFO report.  The newly installed NASA administrator Bill Nelson has said their probe into unidentified aerial phenomena is just beginning: His team intends to set up their own research effort into footage of high-speed flying objects spotted by Navy officers over the years, he told CNN Business.  Nelson added that he does not think there’s evidence to assume that extraterrestrials are involved, saying, “I think I would know” — but conceded it’s too early into their study to rule out the possibility.  “We don’t know if it’s extraterrestrial. We don’t know if it’s an enemy. We don’t know if it’s an optical phenomenon,” Nelson told CNN Business. “We don’t think [it’s an optical illusion] because of the characteristics that those Navy jet pilots described … So the bottom line is, we want to know.”
******OK… they expect us to believe that they’ve NEVER INVESTIGATED these UFO’s?? Pull THIS finger!!

6 Questions To Ask Yourself Before Booking An International Trip

Huffington Post

Am I fully vaccinated?

“Make sure you are fully vaccinated before booking any international travel,” said Konrad Waliszewski, co-founder and CEO of the travel app Tripscout. “That’s the best way to make sure you are traveling ethically and responsibly, without putting locals and fellow travelers at risk.”

Many countries are only allowing international visitors who are fully vaccinated, so your vaccine status may affect your ability to even take that trip abroad. It’s also important to consider whether you will be returning home to anyone who is unvaccinated and at high risk of getting severely sick from COVID-19.

“Being vaccinated and taking precautions can reduce but not eliminate risk of contracting COVID with travel,” said Dr. Sachin Nagrani, a physician and medical director for the telemedicine and house call provider Heal. “Consider the necessity for travel and alternative trips before making plans, and have a safe and pleasant summer.”

What are the local entry requirements?

“Every country has their own travel rules and restrictions,” said budget travel expert Lindsay Myers. “You need to be educated before you travel. You do not want to be stranded at the airport because they will not let you past immigration.”

Some destinations require international visitors to be vaccinated, so you’ll want to make sure you have what’s necessary to prove your status. Don’t lose that vaccine card.

“COVID passports have become a political issue in the U.S., but in many countries they are simply accepted as a sensible means by which to get the industry moving again,” said Alan Fyall, the interim chair for the tourism, events and attractions department at the University of Central Florida’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management. And vaccine passports aren’t the whole story.

“Some countries may require a negative COVID-19 test before entry, including returning to the U.S.,” said Dr. Andrés Henao, an internal medicine physician, infectious disease specialist, and director of the UCHealth Travel Clinic. “Visit a travel clinic before international travel for more comprehensive prevention recommendations.”

Stay up to date with the requirements for visiting your preferred destination by checking the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention travelers’ health page. The rules are always subject to change, so the site is frequently adjusted with the latest information for each country. The proof of a negative test requirement may come with specifications about time windows, types of tests and providers.

Can I visit the attractions I want to see?

“You want to know if attractions that you’re most interested in are open and when,” said Erika Richter, senior director of communications at the American Society of Travel Advisors. “Many have adjusted hours and capacities, including restaurants. Booking ahead and pre-planning is required rather than an afterthought.”

Richter urged travelers to work with a professional travel adviser, who may be able to leverage their relationships as reservation options in popular destinations become scarce. The availability of attractions also may indicate when it’s best to wait before booking that trip.

“Just because precautions are loosening in the U.S. does not mean that this is the case in other countries, in fact far from it,” Fyall said, noting that the reopening process in many destinations is quite slow and methodical.

“It is essential that travelers check out the local conditions very carefully, what are the COVID guidelines, what can they actually do when visiting, what is open, what constraints are there on gathering in groups, are the primary tourist attractions actually open,” Fyall added. “Travelers should always ask many questions before traveling but in 2021, questions on all aspects of the trip are more important than ever otherwise you may find yourself at a destination that is ‘open’ but in essence not open for tourists!”

What’s the current COVID situation at my destination?

“I think the first thing people should do when booking a trip abroad is to research the relevant COVID statistics of wherever they’re thinking about going,” said Randall Kaplan, founder of the travel startup Sandee and author of “Bliss: Beaches.” “What are the number of current COVID infections there, are the number of COVID cases decreasing, what are their vaccination rates?”

Additionally, you’ll want to consider the health care infrastructure. If the COVID situation is not under control and hospitals are overwhelmed, it seems irresponsible to travel to that country and risk needing to use one of the scarce hospital beds. Many things can happen during travel other than COVID-19 that require hospitalization abroad. Do your research and stay up to date as the coronavirus conditions evolve at your destination.

Where will I get a COVID test?

The U.S. still requires all air passengers, including fully vaccinated citizens, to have proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken three days before returning to the country.

“If you travel internationally from the U.S., you need to get a COVID test no more than three days before you return, and you’re required to show a negative COVID test before boarding a flight there ― all of which means you have some non-vacation things to do while you’re away,” Kaplan noted.

Be sure to research how you will get your COVID test in your destination before your return flight. It’s possible they’re offered at your accommodations.

“Many resorts in Mexico are offering on-site COVID tests complimentary to their guests to make it simpler for Americans to come, take a vacation and then go back to the U.S. without having to figure out the Mexican health care system on their own and find a test,” said Scott Keyes, author of “Take More Vacations” and founder of Scott’s Cheap Flights.

Can I quarantine after returning?

Per CDC guidelines, vaccinated travelers returning are no longer required to self-quarantine in the U.S., but those who are unvaccinated must stay home and isolate for at least a week. Additionally, both groups are urged to take a test three to five days after traveling.

Beyond CDC recommendations, you may face requirements from workplaces or schools. This is particularly true for children who are not yet vaccinated.

“If you have children, whether or not they travel with you, you also need to consider whether their schools allow them to attend classes if you or anybody in your family has traveled outside the U.S.,” Kaplan said.
