Where Was Chris Rock On Oscar Night?

Chris Rock didn’t stay home on the first anniversary of the infamous Oscars slap.  On Sunday night, he made a surprise appearance at a viewing party in Miami for the 95th Academy Awards. The party was co-sponsored by Xeomin, a prescription medicine injected into muscles and used to temporarily decrease frown lines between the eyebrows.  His arrival was so unexpected that Whitney Cummings, who was standing on top of the bar, shouted into the microphone, “Chris Rock is in the f—ing building!” While Rock was out partying in Miami, Will Smith had a very different night. Smith was banned from attending the Oscars for the next decade after slapping Rock during the 2022 broadcast. As a result of Smith’s ban, Halle Berry teamed up with Jessica Chastain to present the Best Actress category at the 2023 Oscars instead.
********Chris’s comedy special is so successful on NETFLIX, he had to slap HIMSELF!!!
******Jimmy Kimmel will never get slapped!! His head is so far up everyone’s butt, they can’t find it!!
*******Does Chris know that HE’S not banned?? He could have gone!!!

Nick Cannon OK With Kimmel’s One Liners

In between jokes about the infamous Will Smith Oscars 2022 slap, returning host Jimmy Kimmel squeezed in a jab at Nick Cannon‘s large number of children during his opening monologue at the Academy Awards. And shortly after the ceremony wrapped, Nick reacted to the jokes, which he though was all in good fun. “I heard about that,” Cannon told TMZ as he was leaving a restaurant Sunday night (March 12). “It’s hilarious. I created Wild N’ Out — I can hear jokes all day long.”  Kimmel looped in a joke at Cannon’s headling-making fertility rate — the Drumline star is a father to 12 children, eight of which were born within a two-year span — by mentioning that one of the night’s nominated films, Avatar: The Way of Water, cost Disney two billion dollars to make. “Just to break even, all of Nick Cannon’s kids had to see Avatar four times,” Kimmel quipped.  There’s no hard feelings between the two men, though. “Kimmel’s my man,” Cannon added.
*********We were dreaming of pointing a cannon at Kimmel, so this works out!!!
********Nick even used the jokes as a pick up line: “Yeah, I can’t believe they mentioned me on the Oscars tonight!!!” (works every time)

Is Priscilla Presley Banned From Graceland?

Actress Riley Keough, granddaughter of Elvis Presley, has reportedly locked her grandmother, Priscilla Presley, out of the historic Graceland estate. Per The Daily Mail, Keough’s decision comes after Priscilla contested an amendment to her late daughter Lisa Marie Presley’s will.  At the time of Lisa Marie’s death, she still owed millions of dollars to the IRS, but she’d also retained $35 million in life insurance policies, of which her 14-year-old twin daughters were named the beneficiaries and Keough was named the trustee, replacing Priscilla.  Now, The Daily Mail says a source told them that because Priscilla has moved to challenge the validity of her daughter’s will, which essentially cut her out of a trust worth a fortune, Keough has “changed the locks on the upstairs doors and archives” to prevent Priscilla from accessing the Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee.

Many Criticize Oscar Nominee’s Outfit Blocking View

Oscar nominee Tems has been slammed on social media after her elaborate outfit blocked the view of fellow attendees at Sunday night’s Academy Awards.  Tems, who was nominated for Best Original Song for the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” track “Lift Me Up”, wore a puffy white gown that wrapped around the back of her head.  And while she stunned on the red carpet, the incredible outfit was probably less loved by those sitting inside the Dolby Theater.  Photos of her standing out in the crowd quickly went viral on Twitter, clocking up hundreds of thousands of views.  “Imagine waiting your whole life to be at the Oscars and you end up sitting behind a stratus cloud,” one sniped, comparing the garment to a mass of condensed water vapor.  Others also accused the star of being “rude” by blocking the view of other attendees. “I guess the people behind the white veil don’t get to see the show,” one declared.
*********A strong wind would have sent her sailing over the stage!!!
********It’s almost like some people are incredibly self-centered!!!

Passions, Influences, Loves:  Michelle Yeoh-(People)

Michelle Yeoh is nailing a career high:  Best Actress Oscar for the trippy, sci-fi-multiverse-meets-family-drama film EverythingEverywhereAllatOnce.  At 60 years old, after more than 40 films totaling nearly $4 billion at the box office-most in the action genre and most of those (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) involving Yeoh’s signature roundhouse kick-she says she is only getting started!  Yeoh’s first performances as a girl were as a ballet dancer.  “Moving on to martial arts seemed like a very natural progression,” she says.  Then she won 1983’s Miss Malaysia pageant.  “One of the reason I am here today is because of my mom-she is the diva, the one who loves movies.  I grew up watching movies from India, Europe, America and China.  I’ve always seen representations of myself on the big screen.  Actually, my mother would’ve made one of the greatest movie stars is she’d had the chance.  She laid it on me, which is a good thing.”

Gator Found In Attic!

A county code compliance official in North Carolina made a surprising discovery in the attic of a home under construction — an 8-foot alligator.  The New Hanover County Government said Dean Brown, a county code compliance official, was inspecting a new home under construction in the Carolina Beach Road area when he encountered the large reptile in the attic.  “The workers having lunch sitting the next room — I asked them to leave,” Brown told WWAY-TV. “They kind of laughed at me when I told them why, and I said, ‘Well, you might want to look, because there’s an alligator in the attic.'”  The county government shared a photo of Brown’s discovery on Facebook.  Brown said the attic gator was a first for him. The alligator was relocated by animal control officers.

Python Hitches A Ride On A U-Haul

A 3-foot ball python will be reunited with its owner after hitchhiking across the state of Virginia in a U-Haul truck.  Virginia Wildlife Management and Control said personnel responded to a U-Haul business in Henrico County when a manager opened the door of a truck and discovered a large, non-native snake.  Wildlife rescuer Richard Perry said the 3-foot snake was lethargic from the cold.  “We didn’t even think it would make it through the night,” Perry told WRIC-TV. “It was in very, very bad shape.”  The U-Haul business contacted the truck’s previous renter, but they didn’t know anything about a python.  “The previous driver was driving around with a three-foot python in the vehicle, in the cab, and had no idea the snake was there,” Perry said.  Virginia Wildlife Management and Control posted about the unusual discovery on Facebook, and word of the python eventually reached the animal’s owner in Newport News, on the other side of the state.

Tattoo Artist Breaks Record

A tattoo artist in India broke a Guinness World Record when he spent 91 consecutive hours giving tattoos to 64 people.  Ishan Rana of Vadodara started giving out tattoos on March 3 and finished 91 hours later on March 7, after giving a total 74 tattoos to 64 people.  Rana’s inking marathon was aimed at breaking the Guinness World Record for longest tattoo session (multiple people).  The previous record listed on GWR’s website, 61 hours and 37 minutes, was set by Italian tattoo artist Giovanni Vassallo in August 2022. Rana said he was told that record had already been surpassed with a 65-hour session.  Rana said he consulted with GWR before making his attempt to ensure he was following all of the record-keeping organization’s rules. He said he was allowed a 20-minute break every four hours.

Naked Man Said He Was From Another Planet

A man was arrested and charged after he was seen walking naked down a city street. It happened around 9 p.m. on March 8 when an employee who works at Taboo told police a naked white male walked past the establishment in front of numerous people.  Upon arrival, an officer located Jason Smith, 44, in the 300-block walking with no clothes on, fully exposing his genitals to the public.  Smith was taken to the Palm Beach Police Department, where he initially refused to provide his name and date of birth. He told officers he did not have a social security number or an ID card from any state.  He also said he resided on a different earth; then later said he lived in West Palm Beach. Smith was subsequently charged with one count of indecent exposure, resisting an officer without violence and disorderly conduct.

Interested In A ‘Damp Lifestyle’? These 11 Habits Will Get You Started.

HUFFINGTON POST

  1. Track your current drinking patterns

The best first step to going damp is getting to know your current drinking habits and patterns. Tracking your current habits around alcohol increases self-awareness and helps to identify any patterns that are particularly problematic.  But don’t just track what and how much you drink: “Identify the body sensations, emotions, thoughts, urges and behaviors you experience before, during and after drinking,” Maria Espinola, a licensed clinical psychologist based in Cincinnati, told HuffPost.  Do you drink to take the edge off after rough days at work? Or to avoid getting into an argument with someone? Or to relieve your social anxiety? “It’s very important to understand why you’re choosing to drink, then explore what else you can do instead to get similar results,” Espinola said.

  1. Get specific with your goals

One of the biggest challenges of going damp is how individualized a process it is. Unlike going dry, which has a clear set of parameters, whether or not you’re successful at leading a damp lifestyle is highly subjective.  But this fluidity is also what gives you the opportunity to set hyperspecific goals and boundaries that suit you, therefore giving you the best odds of success. You might decide only to have a drink or two on certain days of the week, not drink by yourself, or indulge only on special occasions. Take the data you collect from tracking your drinking patterns and let your intuition guide you.  You might recognize, for instance, that you typically drink three to five alcoholic beverages when you go out with friends and this leaves you acting pretty sloppy. Going forward, you might cut back to one or two drinks as a way to still engage with your crew but monitor your behavior. “It’s an act of self-control and self-acceptance,” Ferraiuolo said.

  1. Make alcohol less convenient to access

If you’re trying to break your autopilot habit of cracking open a beer after work or pouring a glass of wine before bed, don’t have it readily available — and when you do hit up the liquor store for an upcoming get-together, only buy what you need for that one outing.  The friction of having to go to the liquor store to maintain your habit automatically “forces you to decide whether or not the inconvenience is worth the added effort,” Weinstein said, acting as a handy stopgap between you and the habit you’re trying to break.

  1. Take a beat before pouring

If your knee-jerk reaction is to pour a glass the second uncomfortable feelings strike, try taking a beat (say, 10 minutes) and sitting in the discomfort. Within that time frame, it’s likely the initial surge of discomfort will fade and that drink won’t feel as necessary.  “Many people choose to drink in order to escape feelings, when they may not even know how they’d deal with the situation with a sober mind,” Weinstein said. “If you give a situation time, it may not be as difficult to handle as imagined.”

  1. Always have a drink in your hand

A trick that many people in recovery use in social settings is accessorizing with a glass of something nonalcoholic.  “Not having a glass in hand can make it seem like you’re drawing attention to yourself, and it’s often an invitation for someone to offer you a drink,” Weinstein said. “You might find social settings easier to navigate by carrying a drink around.” It being a nonalcoholic one is your business.

  1. Spread out your intake

Little tricks can be casually utilized — starting your night with a nonalcoholic bevy, diluting each drink more than the last, downing a water between cocktails — and can help to ensure you don’t get carried away with your alcohol intake.  Another strategy that can be helpful? Finding other ways to achieve similar outcomes compelling you to drink in the first place. “If you usually choose an alcoholic beverage that warms you up and helps you feel sleepy before bed (like red wine), you could instead do a relaxation exercise and drink chamomile tea,” Espinola said.

  1. Step up your mocktail game

Given how popular going damp has become, it’s no surprise the mocktail market — with both store-bought and homemade options — is more accessible and varied than ever. “The quality of nonalcoholic drinks and beers are much better than they were in the past,” Kennedy said. By keeping nonalcoholic versions of your go-tos on standby (or indulging in the fancy-pants mocktail recipes available online), you can continue enjoying your life while keeping feelings of deprivation to a minimum.

  1. Nix shots from your repertoire

“Having shots is the opposite of mindful drinking,” Espinola said. “It’s very easy to lose track of how much you’re drinking and how it’s impacting you.”  Between the high alcohol content and how much easier it is to get carried away, shots can hit a lot harder and impair how well you pace yourself the rest of the night. Swapping shots for mixed drinks gives you a visual reminder to sip smartly.

  1. Keep your future self in mind

Going overboard is typically a strategy used to either extend good feelings or numb uncomfortable ones (think: wanting the euphoria of your night out to last longer or taking the edge off after an awful day at work).

It may offer relief in the moment, but the next morning? Not so much. “You might recognize this sometimes puts you in situations you’re uncomfortable with or reflect back on your behavior from the previous night with guilt and shame,” Ferraiuolo said.  The next time you’re tempted to take this route, it can be helpful to keep your future self in mind: Instead of drinking to avoid the emotional discomfort you’re feeling in the moment, decide not to drink to avoid the amplified emotional discomfort (and monster hangover) you’ll inevitably feel the next morning.

  1. Put contingency plans in place

Even when you’re aware of what your triggers are and you do your best to avoid them, you might intend for your night out to go one way, only for it to take a sharp turn.  “An uncomfortable or awkward social interaction or rejection can be a particularly vulnerable time when you might want to numb your emotions with more alcohol,” Kennedy said.  This is where having a hyperspecific contingency plan in place can be helpful. “Identify a list of support people who could help you exit stage left when you feel like throwing in the towel, or record a pep talk video to your phone that your future self can watch during those tough moments,” Kennedy said. “Plan for this and you’ll likely feel better afterward about how you handled the situation.”

  1. Use derailments as data

Derailments happen — and when they do, it’s important to use them as data for future growth, not to initiate a shame spiral. “Explore with curiosity, in a nonjudgmental way, what led you to drink excessively,” Espinola said. “There’s always a reason why, even if it’s not initially clear.”  Understanding why you feel and behave in a specific way takes time and practice. “The first step is to decide you want to get to know yourself better,” Espinola said. “Once you start consistently exploring what’s happening inside of you, the solutions to live a better life can become clearer.”
