Prince Harry Attends Court In The UK
Prince Harry made an appearance at London’s High Court on Monday for the first hearing of a lawsuit accusing the publisher of the Daily Mail of phone-tapping and privacy breaches. He brought the action along with other celebrities including Elton John and actress Elizabeth Hurley against Associated Newspapers, but no one was expecting the semi-retired royal to show up at the central London court in person. The hearing on Monday will consider the initial legal arguments in the case and a judge will then decide if the case can proceed further. The media company denies the allegations. Harry, one of seven claimants in the case, says he and others have been the victims of “abhorrent criminal activity” and “gross breaches of privacy.” The group announced last October that they were bringing legal action against Associated Newspapers for misuse of private information. At the time, law firm Hamlins—which is representing the Duke of Sussex and actress Sadie Frost—alleged that the media giant’s activities had included hiring private investigators to “secretly place listening devices inside people’s cars and homes,” snooping on private phone calls, paying police officials for sensitive information, and “impersonation of individuals to obtain medical information.”

Army Pulls Jonathan Majors Ads
The Army pulled the plug on a new ad campaign featuring Jonathan Majors after the “Creed III” actor was arrested for domestic assault after an alleged attack on his girlfriend. He is featured as the narrator and main character in two commercials released by the Army at the start of the NCAA’s March Madness tournament in hopes of boosting sagging recruiting numbers. The Army’s Enterprise Marketing Office, which led the new media campaign, said in a statement Sunday that the military branch was aware of Majors’ arrest and was “deeply concerned by the allegations.” The statement went on to say that while the actor “is innocent until proven guilty, prudence dictates that we pull our ads until the investigation into these allegations is complete.” Majors was arrested in Manhattan on Saturday on charges of strangulation, assault and harassment after a 30-year-old woman described as his girlfriend accused him of choking her during a domestic incident inside a car. His criminal defense lawyer said Sunday Majors is “completely innocent” and is “provably” the real victim in this situation. Attorney Priya Chaudhry said in a statement that there is video footage from the car and witness testimony clearing Majors of any wrongdoing, as well as two written statements from his accuser recanting the assault allegations.

In a new interview with the New Yorker, Brooke Shields shares that former husband Andre Agassi had an explosive reaction to her 1996 comedic turn on Friends, in which she portrayed Erika, a stalker obsessed with Joey Tribbiani’s character on Days of Our Lives, Dr. Drake Ramoray. While the guest-starring role — which was part of the show’s star-studded “The One After the Superbowl” episode — was meant to be fun, the tennis champ’s response turned out to be anything but. Shields explained that Agassi, then her boyfriend, was so enraged by the slapstick nature of the role, that he went home and “smashed all his trophies.” “Who wins for that?” Shields told the publication. “That’s just — don’t!” According to Shields, Agassi — to whom she was married from 1997 to 1999 — was in the studio watching her act opposite Friends star Matt LeBlanc. Though producers initially scrapped elements of the scene — in which her character licks Joey’s fingers and throws her head back as she cackles — after rehearsal because they worried it was “too crazy,” they ultimately changed their mind. “They scream, ‘Shields! Put it back in!'” she shared. “All of a sudden, the energy changed, and all these men in suits started coming into the studio. The next day, I was asked if I wanted to do my own television show.” “Andre was in the audience supporting me, and he stormed out,” said Shields. Shields later learned that Agassi was using crystal meth around that time — something the athlete has spoken openly about — “so that irrational behavior I’m sure had something to do with that.”

Grimes and Elon Musk’s daughter, Exa, has a new name. She tweeted Thursday that the 1-year-old goes by “Y now, or ‘Why?’ or just ‘?’” Grimes, whose real name is Claire Elise Boucher, admitted the “government won’t recognize” the symbol, which represents “curiosity, the eternal question, .. and such.” She quietly welcomed her baby girl in December 2021 via surrogate and kept the little one under wraps until three months later. “I don’t know what I was thinking,” she told Vanity Fair of trying to conceal her “colicky” baby’s existence after Exa began crying during the interview. Grimes noted at the time that her daughter’s nickname was “Y.” She and Musk had broken up by the time the cover story was published in March 2022.

Biggest Blood Donor
An 80-year-old Alberta woman who has been regularly donating blood for nearly six decades earned the Guinness World Record for the most whole blood donated (female). Guinness World Records said Josephine Michaluk, 80, began donating blood at age 22 in 1965, and in the years since she has donated a total 203 units of blood. A unit of blood is roughly equivalent to a pint. Michaluk said her sister talked her into her first donation. “I decided I would join her and that was the beginning,” she told GWR. Michaluk, whose blood type is the in-demand O+, said she likes knowing her donations are helping others. “I feel like I have it in me to give,” she said. “I can share it to people that need it.”

Body Ended Up Being A Mannequin
Police in Ontario said a dive team responding to a report of a suspected body floating in a canal recovered the reported remains and discovered it was a mannequin. South Simcoe Police said officers responded to a report of a body floating in a canal near Canal and Pumphouse roads on Wednesday afternoon. The York Regional Police Dive Unit was summoned to the scene and the divers were able to recover the object and discovered it was actually a mannequin. “There are no criminal concerns at this time,” police said in a Facebook post.

Runaway Pig
A piglet on the loose for multiple days in a New Hampshire town was captured by a local animal lover — and the rescue was caught on video. Tori Gamache said she heard the 8-week-old pet pig, Simon, had been on the loose since Sunday, so she went out Wednesday to the area of Goffstown where the swine was last sighted. Gamache said she spent about 2 hours working to gain the piglet’s trust before the animal came close enough that she could grab hold of him. She said Simon was safely reunited with his family. People Actually Live On Greenland??
Residents of Greenland have switched to daylight saving time and moved their clocks one hour forward this weekend for the very last time. Unlike most of Europe, Greenlanders will leave their clocks untouched come autumn when daylight saving time ends. While Europe and the U.S. debates whether to stick to the twice-yearly practice, Greenland – a vast Danish semi-independent territory in the Arctic – has resolved to perennially remain only three hours behind Copenhagen and most other European countries instead of four. Greenland’s parliament, Inatsisartut, voted to stick to daylight saving time year-round on Nov. 24 last year. Officials say it will give Greenlanders another hour of daylight in the afternoons and more time to do business with Europe and farther afield. “The shift of time zone marks an exciting new beginning, an equal connection to North America and Europe, and an opportunity to slow down in a fast-paced world,” Visit Greenland, the local government’s tourism office said in a statement. Geographically, sparsely populated Greenland belongs to the North American continent but geopolitically, it is in Europe. Greenland is part the Danish Realm and its southernmost tip is more than 3,200 kilometers (nearly 2,000 miles) west of Copenhagen. Its 56,000 people mainly Inuit, indigenous people who chiefly live on the west coast in small towns and hamlets or remote coastal settlements.

How to Make Money Renting Out Your Driveway

That’s right, your extra driveway space can help make you some extra cash. Websites like Neighbor and ParkingForMe are among the largest online parking marketplaces. They provide users with a place to list and rent out their available driveway space. On both websites, you can look at a map and see how much money spots are currently renting for before you sign up. That works well for you if you’re just curious about renting out your driveway, and not looking to sign up.
To compare as accurately as possible, we took a quick look at what New York City currently has available in terms of parking spots. One of the spots is going for $600,000! However, there are plenty of spots available at much more reasonable prices — from dozens of dollars to hundreds of dollars. Getting started is easy for most of these sites and apps. In fact, it doesn’t take long at all to register. However, there may be a wait for getting your booking opportunity up and running, since someone may have to manually review your driveway posting before it goes live.
But within a reasonable timeframe, you could be renting your driveway. (But you shouldn’t expect half a million that those Manhattanites are paying.)
- Choose Your Marketplace
There are multiple apps and websites available for renting your driveway out. Here’s a look at a few options and their features.
Neighbor
Neighbor boasts that the average host makes about $300 a month renting their driveway. Based on the map full of hundreds of thousands of dollars parking spots, you can set your price to whatever you’d like. You can also sign up in five minutes or less. With Neighbor, you can rent out more than your driveway. Other spaces you can rent out on Neighbor include garages, basements, businesses, and more. Payments are digital, via Stripe so you won’t be having to handle any money.
ParkingForMe
On ParkingForMe, you can easily see and set hourly, daily, weekly and monthly rates. As opposed to Neighbor and Spacer, the terms of payment and acceptance are your responsibility. So ParkingForMe does not handle it. And unlike Neighbor, ParkingForMe is only for renting parking spots. It also boasts a comprehensive FAQ, which is nice. There are, however significantly fewer listings than Neighbor.
ParkOnMyDrive
ParkonMyDrive is available only in the US, UK, Ireland and Australia, but the website’s style is a little outdated. There is by far significantly less volume than ParkingForMe. For instance, no parking spots were found in New York City or San Francisco. Only one spot was found in Dublin, Ireland. You also must pay a yearly fee to place your listing, which other sites do not charge.
Spacer
On Spacer, you can only rent parking spaces. Their maximum price per month is $1,000 and their minimum price per month is $50. It does appear to have more options than ParkingForMe, but fewer than Neighbor. And lastly, payment is digital, via Stripe, just like Neighbor.
Curbflip
Curbflip boasts that you can sign up in a minute and set your rates easily. Like most other sites on this list besides Neighbor, Curbflip is solely for parking spaces. But you are able to offer spaces for motorcycles, bikes, RVs, boats and more. Curbflip also handles payments for you and allows you to message renters on-site. Additionally, Curbflip is surprisingly worldwide. There are even parking spots available in India, Germany, UK, France, Brazil, Mexico, and, of course, the USA.
- Decide How Long You Want to Rent: Hourly, Daily, Weekly or Monthly
Most marketplaces provide flexibility with how long you allow patrons to rent out your driveway. Whether it is hourly, daily, weekly or the typical monthly amount of time, there are options available for you wherever you turn. Month-to-month may be the go-to option for your driveway. That way you know it will be used for the whole month and can expect consistent money for renting your driveway. However, depending on where you live, you may be able to rent in as little an increment as hourly. This would only really work well in a place with a lot of traffic, such as New York City or San Francisco. Otherwise, nobody is dying to pay for your parking space in Remote, Oregon by the hour. However, there is something to be said about offering a daily or weekly parking space. Renting your driveway daily or weekly is especially helpful if you live near:
- A school
- A shopping center
- A stadium
- A port
- A train station
- An airport
- Make Your Money
The amount of money you will make for renting out your driveway depends on the marketplace you choose to list it on and your location. From the spots available, you can find listings for as low as $25 per day up to $1000 or more a month to rent out your driveway. That’s not too shabby for something you’re not using anyway.
For example, you can rent out:
- A private driveway
- A shared driveway
- A private garage
- A shared garage
- A private car park space
- A public car park space
Whatever you have to offer is game assuming that someone needs that particular parking spot in your location. Give it a try!
