Jay Leno To Play Ed Sullivan
Jay Leno is set to play legendary television personality Ed Sullivan in “Midas Man,” the upcoming drama about Beatles manager Brian Epstein, Deadline reported. The Beatles made a bunch of appearances on “The Ed Sullivan Show” throughout the 1960s. “Midas Man” is in production and will chronicle the life and rise to fame of Epstein. Jacob Fortune-Lloyd of “The Queen’s Gambit” will star as the group’s manager alongside Emily Watson, Eddie Marsan and Rosie Day. No word yet on who will be playing the band’s members. “The Ed Sullivan Show” ran from 1948 until 1971. Filming started in Liverpool last month and was put on hold until Nov. 29. The film will begin shooting in the US in January.

Queen Attends Double Christening
Queen Elizabeth II attended a double christening on Sunday for two of her great-grandchildren. The Queen, who has canceled several recent public appearances on her doctors’ advice, watched the baptisms of August, son of Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, and Lucas Philip, son of Zara Tindall and her husband, Mike Tindall. The private service at the Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, west of London, was attended by members of the royal family and close friends. August was born in February and Lucas in March. Both boys’ mothers are granddaughters of the queen. The queen has 12 great-grandchildren, the youngest of them 2-month-old Sienna Elizabeth, daughter of Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. The Queen is Britain’s longest-lived and longest-reigning monarch. She is due to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee – marking 70 years on the throne – next year.

Tracy Morgan is issuing a categorical denial of a recent bombshell report — by Tracy Morgan. Days after telling reporters that he was dating a mystery woman who was seen on his arm outside “SNL’s” midtown studios, he says he’s not dating anyone — and even denies ever making that statement. “I didn’t say that … I don’t care what the media says, I didn’t confirm anything,” Morgan said about his recent statements. “I take pictures with females every day and they’re next to me posing.” He and the woman were snapped leaving Studio 8H on Nov. 8th. He told photographers on the scene that he was dating the woman, who he would not name, leading to widespread reports about his self-described new romance. Jennifer Lawrence Opens Up About Plane Crash
Jennifer Lawrence was convinced she was going to die when a private plane she was on entered double-engine failure. “My skeleton was all that was left in the seat,” she told Vanity Fair in her December cover story. She joked that flying private meant “I deserve to die,” and was en route to New York City from her hometown of Louisville, Ky., in 2017 when they were told they had to attempt an emergency landing in Buffalo. “We were all just going to die,” she said. “I started leaving little mental voicemails to my family, you know, ‘I’ve had a great life, I’m sorry.’” She was just one of two passengers on the plane — the other was the son of the doctor who delivered her and her two brothers. “I just felt guilty,” Lawrence explained of why she apologized. “Everybody was going to be so bummed. And, oh, God, [my dog] Pippi was on my lap, that was the worst part. Here’s this little thing who didn’t ask to be a part of any of this.” Upon seeing the runway filled with fire trucks and ambulances she turned to a higher power. “I started praying. Not to the specific God I grew up with, because he was terrifying and a very judgmental guy,” she recalled. “But I thought, Oh, my God, maybe we’ll survive this? Joe Exotic Moved To Medical Facility
“Tiger King” Joe Exotic has been transferred to a medical facility in North Carolina for federal inmates after a cancer diagnosis, according to his attorney. Joe Exotic, whose real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage, was flown on a plane to be transferred from a federal medical center in Fort Worth, Texas, to a federal medical center in Butner, North Carolina, late Tuesday or early Wednesday, defense attorney John Phillips said in a statement. Phillips, who tweeted his statement on Saturday, said. He originally was scheduled to be transferred later this month. Phillips said he told him that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer and was getting medical treatment and tests “for a host of issues.” Phillips said prison medical care “isn’t the best and justice is slow.” “It’s a competition of life and liberty no one wants any part of,” he added. He was sentenced in January 2020 to 22 years in federal prison after being convicted of trying to hire two different men to kill Florida animal rights activist Carole Baskin.

Chrissy Teigen took to Instagram Stories to reveal she’d undergone eyebrow transplant surgery. “I never wear makeup if I can avoid it so I was so excited for this eyebrow transplant surgery,” the star wrote alongside a photo of her new brows, explaining that the process involves transplanting “hairs from the back of your head” to create fuller eyebrows. “A little dark from the pencil but its [sic] so cool to have brows again,” she captioned another clip of the “crazy” results. Cops Lasso Runaway Pig
Police in Ohio shared body camera footage of an officer using a pet leash to “lasso” a pig found running loose through a neighborhood. The Cincinnati Police Department said Officers Grant Perry and Roland Pansch were dispatched Thursday on a report of a loose pig running through the a neighborhood in the Bond Hill area. The department tweeted body camera footage showing Perry distracting the pig with an apple while Pansch used a pet leash to lasso the animal. “It’s not everyday we have to ‘lasso’ a loose pig while on patrol,” the department tweeted. Witnesses told police the pig appeared to have been intentionally abandoned by someone who took the animal out of their car and drove away from the scene. Police took the pig, dubbed Oinker, to Animal CARE, where staff told officers they were familiar with the animal. See the video HERE.

Pink Flamingo Escapes The Zoo
A zoo in Quebec, Canada, said a pink flamingo escaped and was found a short time later loitering in the parking lot of a Tim Hortons. The Granby Zoo said the flamingo flew the coop Wednesday morning and was spotted by customers in the parking lot of a Tim Hortons doughnut shop in Granby. “To reassure everyone, there wasn’t a sale on shrimp at the IGA or a special on coffee at Tim Hortons,” Karl Fournier, director of animal care at the Granby Zoo, said in a TikTok video. “For reasons unknown, the flamingo escaped and flew away from its group. Our team quickly mobilized and it was captured in a calm manner.” The zoo said the flamingo allowed zookeepers to approach, and they returned it safely to its enclosure. See the video HERE.

Crabs Shutdown Highway
Highways and roads have been shut down on an Australian island for an annual occurrence: the migration of millions of red crabs. The red crabs of Christmas Island migrate every autumn from their homes on the island to the ocean, and many highways and roads are shut down to protect the traveling animals from vehicles. Some roads that remain open have been outfitted with special bridges the crabs use to avoid traffic, and other roads are cleared by workers with rakes before vehicles come through. Videos captured on the island show massive numbers of crabs walking in tandem with pedestrians. “Merry Crabsmas,” Parks Australia quipped in a Facebook post featuring video of the migrating animals. Parks Australia tweeted that some residents have ended up stranded in their neighborhoods for a day at a time when large numbers of the crustaceans led officials to institute a “Crab Lockdown.”

4 Ways To Be More Considerate Of Sober People During The Holidays

Treat them like a person.
This may seem obvious, but it’s easy to lump all people with addictions into a monolith. How your family member handled substance misuse won’t be the same as how your friend or co-worker is dealing with it.
“With everybody, I’m always adapting to the individual,” Glowiak said. “I’m always adapting to what the individual needs.”
For people close to you, have a conversation and ask them what those needs are. “You can make decisions based on that,” Kazachkova said. “And you can also ask some additional questions. Some folks do not want to replace their drinks with a fake cocktail, but someone might actually enjoy it. Other people might be triggered by that.”
If you’re not close to a person, or if you’re unaware they have a substance use disorder, this might not be an option. But don’t worry, there are other measures you can take to make your gathering more sober-friendly (more on that in a second).
Let them bring a plus-one.
If you know someone is sober, particularly if you know they live with an addiction, offer to let them bring someone with them.
“A lot of adolescents that I work with in recovery, or younger adults who are 19, 20, 21, or so will have their friends coming back from university,” Glowiak said. “They just want to save face and resume normalcy.”
The desire to return to “normalcy” or “belong” is a big theme of the holiday season and triggering for many in recovery. Letting people bring a plus-one to any event you organize gives them that belonging and support. It also provides accountability.
“Having a support person lets you, A, not feel so awkward, and B, they can be like, ‘You’re not really supposed to drink,’” Kazachkova said. It also empowers a person with a substance use disorder to be active in their own recovery without adding extra stigmatization.
If you’re having a party, be mindful of your guests’ needs.
“As a host, you are able to decide which kind of people are at your party,” Kazachkova said. “Maybe your person is OK with somebody having a few drinks but not if half the group is taking shots.”
At the end of the day, you’re the host of your party. You have control over the type of party you plan to have, whether it be a rager or a kick-back with some wine. Being conscious of your party’s vibe and your guest list goes a long way.
“Part of this is really being mindful of your audience,” Glowiak said. “When you’re throwing a party, in general, it’s not to call out people. It’s to make it as comfortable as possible.”
And to make it as comfortable as possible for nondrinkers, as a host, try to:
- Offer non-crappy nonalcoholic beverages like soda or flavored seltzers.
- Ditch the communal watering holes like the proverbial spiked punch bowl.
- Plan activities that don’t center drinking like cornhole or a white elephant trade with a “no alcohol” rule.
“The other side of that, too, is being a good communicator,” Kazachkova added. “Allow your people to share as they want, and read the room a little bit.”
Host a dry gathering.
If it’s looking like someone close to you just can’t be around booze or you’re getting an influx of intel suggesting nonalcoholic options be available, maybe you should consider a dry function altogether.
“You can also not have alcohol at your party,” Kazachkova stressed. “That’s always an option.”
If you take this route, make sure guests are informed well ahead of time. This way, anyone bent on getting bent will know not to show up and any nondrinkers won’t feel as if you’re pandering, or worse — at fault.
“Don’t have it be a big surprise, it’s all dry out of nowhere and everybody just comes over and is upset over no alcohol,” Glowiak said. “For that one person struggling, it’s really isolating.”
Remember, as a host, it’s your party and you can imbibe if you want to, but others may not have the luxury. A little consideration goes a long way to making your event, and the holidays in general, more inclusive and enjoyable for everyone.
