Meghan and Harry Share Special Moments With Archie

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry say they’ve shared some “special moments” with their son, Archie, at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.  They discussed some of their son’s recent milestones during a conversation with activist and Nobel Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai.  Markle and Harry spoke to Yousafzai via Zoom Sunday on International Day of the Girl. The trio discussed the importance of education for girls, with Markle saying she also prioritizes education for Archie, 17 months.  “To be able to raise our son in a way where everything about his nourishment is in terms of educational substance, and how you can learn and how you can grow,” she said. “You know, having the privilege of being able to go to school is something that, I think, oftentimes is taken for granted.”  Markle and Harry said they’ve stayed busy during the COVID-19 lockdown but have also spent a lot of quality time as a family.  “We were both there for his first steps,” Harry shared. “His first run, his first fall, his first everything,” Harry said.  “And it’s just fantastic, because I think in so many ways we are fortunate to be able to have this time to watch him grow,” Markle added. “So it’s been a lot of good family time.”

90210 Alums Honor Luke Perry

Sunday would have been Luke Perry’s 54th birthday.  In celebration of the late actor’s special day, his former castmates from “Beverly Hills, 90210” paid tribute to him on social media.  He played Dylan McKay on the teen drama series from 1990-95 and again from 1998 until 2000.  “Happy Birthday brother!! Love You,” Brian Austin Green wrote on Instagram along with a throwback photo from when they were younger.  Tori Spelling said, “Lazy Sunday with family… some downtime today gives me a pause for reflection. Grateful to my family and extended family. Loving on them hard right now. And, doesn’t feel right not to mention that today is our brother Luke’s bday.”  “Thinking about him and missing him. But, that’s everyday. So grateful he got to meet my littlest Beau and snuggle him when he was a babe,” she added.   Jennie Garth posted a simple black-and-white photo of the two of them. “Forever in my heart,” she said.  Perry died March 4, 2019, after suffering a severe stroke. He was 52 years old.
*********Hey, we don’t get a birthday like that.. and we’re still ALIVE!!

Robert Pattinson Back On The Batman Set

Robert Pattinson was spotted filming a scene for “The Batman” for the first time since production was shut down due to a COVID-19 infection, MailOnline reported. Filming officially resumed on Sept. 17, after halting production for two weeks when somebody involved with the movie, who was said to be Pattinson, tested positive for the coronavirus.  But on Monday he was spotted outside St. George’s Hall in Liverpool, England, filming a funeral scene. It was the first time the British actor has been seen outside in character. Warner Bros. also had about 100 extras on hand for the sequence, which has jarred some insiders given the UK’s recent spike in coronavirus cases.  “Quite a few of us are surprised, to say the least, that around 100 people based in a film studio in Hertfordshire are being asked to go to a high risk area in the North West,” a source told MailOnline. “However, to be fair to the production company, they do test for coronavirus.”

I think you have.”  Aniston, already a proud dog mom, also gave a special shoutout to the Wagmor Pet Hotel & Rescue Spa in Studio City, California.  “A HUGE thank you to @wagmorpets for the incredible work you do. Grateful you take such great care of these rescues and find them their forever home,” Aniston wrote.  See the pic HERE.

NCIS Stars Sue CBS Over Filming Mix-Up

Two actors involved in an NCIS: New Orleans robbery scene are suing CBS for misleading them into shooting the realistic moment. According to TMZ, they claim that CBS orchestrated the “guerilla-style” heist scene without obtaining proper permits or giving warning to neighbors, and as a result, police arrived and pointed guns at them. TMZ reports that the two actors, as well as the owner of a New Orleans jewelry store, claim they were approached by NCIS producers in October 2017 about participating in a scene involving an armed robbery. The men allege that they agreed to participate in the shoot, which took place in a crowded shopping center, under the assumption that it would be a “traditional television shoot” operating with the necessary permits and safety protocols. However, they claim that that did not turn out to be the case, and they are suing CBS for failing to notify neighbors and local authorities about the fictional robbery.  According to the lawsuit, which was filed in Los Angeles, the scene in question involved the actors jumping out of an unmarked van in ski masks with fake assault rifles. As part of the scene, they yelled, “This is a robbery!,” at which point a neighboring store owner allegedly called 911. The men claim that when police arrived, they drew their weapons, and they allege that had they not immediately complied, they could have been killed.
********CBS planned it that way.. because “you can always get more actors,” but you can’t buy that kind of publicity!!
*******So, which episode is it in?? ‘Cause we gotta see that!!
******They might have thought, “Look! Realistic cops!! Let’s pretend to shoot it out!!”

Phil Collins Wants To Evict His Ex-Wife

Phil Collins is reportedly taking steps to evict ex-wife Orianne from his Florida mansion.  He originally split from her in 2006 after six years of marriage, and the two reconciled 10 years later, entering a relationship again after she divorced investment banker Charles Mejjati. Collins reportedly paid Orianne, a jewelry designer, $46.68 million in their 2008 divorce.  Now, TMZ reports, Collins and Orianne — who share sons Nicholas, 19, and Matthew, 15 — have called it quits again, and she allegedly refuses to vacate their home.  The outlet claims Orianne married another man in August after telling Collins she was taking a business trip to Las Vegas. Citing sources close to the musician, TMZ said Collins gave Orianne until Friday afternoon to pack her bags and leave, but she refused and allegedly threatened him to renegotiate their divorce settlement. The outlet also reported that Collins intends to file an eviction lawsuit this week.
*******If she marries another guy, isn’t that the end of the relationship??? Just askin’!!

Juggling Record

An Idaho man showed off his coordination and broke a Guinness World Record when he sliced through 40 thrown crab apples while juggling three knives.  David Rush, who has broken more than 150 Guinness records to promote STEM education, enlisted the help of neighbor Jonathan Hannon to take on the record for most apples sliced in 1 minute while juggling knives (team of two).  The pair had to beat the goal of 36, which was set by Josh and Cassie Horton on the set of Live with Kelly and Ryan in 2018.  Rush, who has been juggling since 2004, said it took 1 1/2 years of “casual training” and several weeks of “serious preparation” to get to the point where he could take on the record.  Hannon threw 41 crab apples in the 1 minute time period, and Rush sliced through all but one, setting the new record at 40.  See the video HERE.

Crane Crashes Thru Roof

Firefighters in Florida said no one was inside a Fort Lauderdale home when a crane moving a shed into a neighbor’s yard collapsed and fell through the roof.  Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue said the crane was moving a shed into a neighbor’s back yard when it toppled over for unknown reasons just before noon Friday.  Battalion Chief Stephen Gollan said the family who lives in the home was away on vacation at the time of the incident and firefighters rescued dogs and cats from inside the house.  “In most of the living area — the kitchen, living room and dining room — the roof just completely collapsed into the living space. You know, we’re so very fortunate that nobody was inside this residence when it took place,” Gollan told WPLG-TV.  See the pic HERE.

5 Flu And COVID-19 Myths People Need To Stop Believing

Huffington Post

Myth: The flu won’t be a problem because we’re wearing masks.

Doctors “are hoping — but not betting on — a lighter influenza season this year as people practice physical distancing, mask wearing and better hand hygiene,” said Dr. Timothy Laird, interim chief medical officer of Health First Medical Group.

Sometimes you can do just about everything right — mask up, maintain social distance, wash your hands — and still catch a virus. Which is why layering preventive measures is so important. People can get the flu by touching surfaces or objects that have been contaminated with flu viruses (which is also true with COVID-19, although that isn’t the primary mode of transmission).

“Everything we’re doing reduces risk,” said Dr. Aaron Milstone, an epidemiologist and professor of pediatrics at Johns Hopkins Medicine. “It doesn’t make risk zero.”

(But mask skeptics, take note: This doesn’t mean you should leave your face covering at home. Experts overwhelmingly agree wearing a mask is far better than nothing for reducing transmission.)

Myth: The flu vaccine could make you sick, weak or more vulnerable to COVID-19.

The persistent claim that the flu vaccine can give you the flu just is not true, experts say. However, you could develop a flulike reaction to the vaccine (including muscle aches and fever) as your body produces antibodies.

“You may get a sore arm, maybe even feel a bit achy or have a low grade fever or scratchy throat,” Laird said. “But that’s not an illness, that is a side effect experienced by a small number of people with nearly any vaccination.”

There are a few other possibilities for why you might get sick after vaccination: You could catch the flu in the two-week window between getting your shot and when it takes effect. Or you could get sick if you’re exposed to a flu virus that isn’t a good match with those used in this year’s vaccine.

But the vaccine itself will not give you an illness. That’s a key misconception to clear up now for anyone who is reluctant to get vaccinated over concerns the shot will make them sick and weaken their immune system amid a pandemic, making them more vulnerable to COVID-19. It won’t.

On the other hand, it is possible to get both COVID-19 and the flu at the same time, which could be “catastrophic” to the immune system, some experts warn. So getting a flu shot is particularly important.

Myth: The flu vaccine could “mess” with a COVID-19 vaccine.

If a COVID-19 vaccine becomes available during flu season, after you have already received your flu shot, “there should be no problem getting a subsequent vaccine any time this winter,” Milstone said.

“We give vaccines together all the time,” he explained. “The only time we sometimes worry about separating vaccines with a little bit of time is when we give a live viral vaccine.”

For example, doctors might space out other vaccinations around the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine, so patients get the full immune response. But all the injectable flu vaccines currently available right now are not live vaccines, Milstone said, so it shouldn’t be a concern.

Myth: COVID-19 and the flu are essentially the same.

Despite President Donald Trump’s continued assertions that the flu and COVID-19 are so similar they are basically the same, that absolutely isn’t true.

It’s not true in terms of the effect on the body; it’s not true in terms of how long people are contagious or how contagious the various viruses are; and it’s not even true in terms of who tends to get really sick.

“There’s a difference epidemiologically,” Milstone said.

It’s also not true for death counts. Approximately 34,000 people died in the U.S. during the 2018-2019 flu season, which really picked up in November and pretty much wound down in February. By contrast, more than 211,000 people have died from COVID-19 in the U.S. in the last seven months. And unlike the flu, which tends to strike in the winter, COVID-19 cases surged all summer long.

Distinguishing the difference has implications for everything ― from how doctors might watch for more serious developments to how long someone needs to quarantine and how people who’ve come into contact with a sick individual should behave.

Which brings us to …

Myth: If I were to get sick, I would manage COVID-19 and the flu in the same way.

There is definitely significant overlap in the symptoms of COVID-19 and influenza, like fever, chills, fatigue and cough. They are also both highly contagious respiratory viruses. So in some ways, yes, a person who becomes ill with the flu might behave pretty much the same as a person who becomes ill with COVID-19.

“There are a few common principles to keep in mind. First, you are contagious,” Laird said. “Protect others. Wear a mask if around them. Everyone should practice excellent hand hygiene, and you should isolate yourself as much as possible. Secondly, hydrate and rest.”

But knowing which particular virus you have will likely change how you proceed beyond that. Researchers are still grappling with exactly how long someone can spread COVID-19, but they believe the period of contagiousness is longer than with the flu. With the flu, people are generally cleared to head back into the world once they’ve been fever-free for 24 hours; with COVID-19 it’s at least 10 days since symptoms appeared and the individual has been fever-free for at least 24 hours.

That’s one reason why doctors, like Milstone, are advocating that people who develop symptoms be particularly diligent about getting tested this season.

“I think most people are going to need to get a test result to know: When can I safely return to work, school, daycare, etcetera,” Milstone said.
