Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade To Be Held Virtually

The 94th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will be held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Monday.  De Blasio said that a live parade will not be taking place this year, but that a re-imagined parade still be available to watch on television and online.  “[Macy’s is] reinventing the event for this moment in history. And you will be able to feel the spirit and the joy of that day,” de Blasio said.  Macy’s will announce more details later today. The retailer announced in August that the Thanksgiving Day Parade would be redesigned, similar to the company’s annual Fourth of July celebration that also takes place in New York City.  “Following our successful, safe and innovative production of Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks, it is our intention to similarly re-imagine Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this November,” Macy’s website says.

Rachael Ray Shows Off Burned Home

Rachael Ray appeared on Good Morning America Monday to discuss the fire that destroyed her New York home in August.  Her home in Lake Luzerne, north of Albany, caught fire due to an animal being burrowed inside her chimney. Rey, her husband John Cusimano, Rey’s mother and the couple’s dog made it out okay.  Ray said she was made aware that her roof was on fire from a stranger who was riding an ATV near her backyard.  “By the time I had gone upstairs to determine what we could save, I could hear the fire crackling through the walls and spreading through the building. And because of my work with the Denis Leary Firefighter Foundation and the training I’ve done over several years with actual first responders, I knew to leave immediately,” Ray said.  “I just can’t tell you how important it is to listen to your first responders,” she continued.

Angelina Jolie Donates Big To Lemonade Stand

Angelina Jolie made an “extremely generous” donation to two 6-year-old boys who set up a lemonade stand fundraiser for Yemen amid its humanitarian crisis.  Although she never visited Ayaan Moosa and Mikaeel Ishaaq’s stand in London, England, she still showed her support.  The children posted a signed note on Instagram showing what they received from her.  “Dear Ayaan and Mikaeel, Thank you for what you and your friends are doing to help children in Yemen,” she wrote. “I’m sorry I’m not able to buy a lemonade from you, but I’d still like to make a donation to your stand.”  The two boys also posted a video thanking Jolie for the donation and offering a cup of lemonade to her the next time she’s in London. She plans to visit Ayaan and Mikaeel on her next trip, a source told People.  “9 weeks on from the initial fundraiser .. the lemonaid [sic] boys have received an extremely generous donation from Angelina Jolie along with this amazing card!” the two children wrote in a post on Instagram. “We are blown away!! One of the biggest stars in the world.”
*******Now Brad Pitt has to make a bigger donation!!!

Kim Kardashian Will Make Your Zoom Face Look Great

Leave it to Kim Kardashian, who once made light-up LuMee phone cases an essential for selfie-takers everywhere — to find an affordable tool to make your Zoom calls look great.  She shared a photo of her desk setup during a “Sunday study session” on her Instagram Story, including the L3 LEDzign Zoomlite ($70) affixed to her open laptop. The tool comes in three different clip colors and lighting options: Warm White, Natural White and Daylight Blue.  “Best lighting for my zoom sessions,” Kardashian wrote of the Zoomlite, adding, “Not an ad! I just like it.”  It makes sense that she would trust this particular product; L3 LEDzign was created by Landon Hosto, the longtime lighting director for “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and its spinoff series.  Over the years, Hosto has designed lighting solutions for the famous family ranging from custom ring lights to illuminated makeup mirrors — “so their makeup light would match the same light as they shoot the show with,” as he explained on Instagram.

Fresh Prince House On AirBnB

Will Smith has listed the iconic “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” mansion on Airbnb for the first time ever — and is offering fans the chance to chill out, max, relax all cool for only $30 a night.  “Ready for the freshest staycation ever? If this place looks familiar that’s because it’s just as fly as it was when I first rolled up the driveway. I’m back,” Smith wrote in the Airbnb listing. “And this time, I’m handing you the keys so you’ll have my wing of the mansion all to yourself — but my sneaker collection is off limits, aight?”  He worked with the owners of the Brentwood, California, home to rent out the property to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the hit ’90s sitcom that ran for six seasons on NBC.  The exterior was featured in the show while interior shots were all located on sets.  Guests will have access to a special wing of the mansion including “my bedroom (great for naps), a full bathroom (great for spitting bars in the shower), pool area (great for dips), an outdoor lounge, and the dining room (great for eating obviously),” Smith wrote in the post. “It’s your crib for the night, so feel free to act like you own the place.”
********They’ll be sorry!!
*******If they have a big “Do the Carlton Party,” the Brentwood cops will be there in a heartbeat!!

Andy Dick Plays Joe Exotic

Comic Andy Dick will play Joe Exotic in his latest project — a “Tiger King” mockumentary called “Tiger Dick.”  It centers on Dick filming an Exotic biopic with himself in the lead role and as an “unstable version of himself between takes,” according to a release.  Footage from the project shows Dick as an outrageously spot-on Exotic, while also being a behind-the-scenes diva. His real-life comedy act collaborator Paris Dylan co-stars as Exotic’s tattooed, toothless former flame John Finlay. There are rumors that an ex-“SNL” star could make an appearance as Exotic’s nemesis Carole Baskin.  In April, pictures of Dick dressed as Exotic surfaced, though it was unclear why at the time. Nic Cage is starring in an Exotic biopic in development at Amazon, while Kate McKinnon is playing Baskin in a rival “Tiger King” series at NBC.
********We’ll wait for the official biopic!!
*******Andy Dick IS an “unstable version of himself!!”

Catfish Record

An Idaho man set a new state record for catch-and-release fishing when he reeled in a flathead catfish that measured 42 inches long.  The Idaho Department of Fish and Game said Jared Holt was fishing in the Snake River when he reeled in the “monster catfish.”  The department said the fish, caught in Owyhee County, beat the previous record of 38.5 inches, which was caught in 2018 by angler Scott Turner.  Idaho is home to several species of catfish, but flathead catfish are found only in the Snake River, predominantly in the Brownlee Reservoir area, the department said.  See the pic HERE.

Saggy Pants Ban Lifted

A ban on “saggy pants” that reveal a person’s underwear is set to be lifted in a South Florida city – 13 years after it was put in place.  The city commission in Opa-locka, northeast of Miami, has voted 4 to 1 to repeal both the original 2007 legislation and a 2013 ordinance that said men and women could receive civil citations if they breached the ban.  Signs are in place around the city to warn people not to get caught with their pants down.  One shows an image of two young men wearing pants below their waists and features the words: “No ifs, ands or butts… it’s the city law!”  Wednesday’s vote was a first reading of the repeal, meaning it will need to be approved again at a subsequent commission meeting before it’s official, the Miami Herald reports.  However, the item was co-sponsored by four of the five commissioners.  Vice Mayor Chris Davis, who sponsored the repeal, told the Miami Herald: “I was never in support of it, even as a resident.”

7 Of The Weirdest Products People Have Been Buying During The Pandemic

Huffington Post

  1. Roller skates

With lockdown orders in effect around the country, antsy Americans have been looking for new hobbies to occupy their time and excuses to go outside. For many, roller skating turned out to be a perfect solution.

Google searches for ”roller skates″ spiked considerably in May and retailers suddenly struggled to keep up with the demand, The Washington Post reported. California-based Moxi Roller Skates faced 12 times its usual sales and developed a massive backlog of orders, prompting its manufacturer to open a second factory to fulfill them all, according to founder Michelle Steilen. Impala Rollerskates’ pastel fade skates sold out the same day they were released during the lockdown, chief executive Matt Hill told the Post.

Because skates became just about impossible to find in stock, many consumers turned to secondhand markets. Online marketplace Mercari, for example, has seen an average of more than 21,000 searches for roller skates per week over the last six weeks ― an 892% volume increase since the pandemic ― with more than 300 new listings for roller skates added weekly.

  1. RVs

As the pandemic raged into summer, Americans with a travel bug were desperate for a way to sightsee while maintaining social distancing. Recreational vehicles have been selling like crazy (even yours truly bought a used one). In fact, RV dealers saw as much as a 170% increase in sales for the month of May compared with the same time last year, according to the RV Industry Association.

Travelers who don’t have the money to buy haven’t let that stop them. RV rentals also surged, especially ahead of Memorial Day weekend. RV rental site RVshare reported a 1,000% increase in nationwide bookings since April 1.

  1. Guns

Pandemic spending hasn’t been all fun and games. The number of firearms background checks compiled by the FBI ticked upward beginning in March and reached a record 3.9 million in June.

There are a few reasons for this heightened interest in gun ownership. It’s typical for gun sales to increase around election time. And, considering that Democratic hopeful Joe Biden supports greater restrictions on firearms, some opponents of gun control may want to stock up on firepower while they still can. Add in civil unrest around the country and a general sense of fear as the coronavirus remains uncontained and many people are feeling the need for heat.

  1. Yeast

For those doing their best to avoid busy public spaces, the grocery store is one of the top places to steer clear of. But grocery delivery services can be pricey, and sending an Instacart or GrubHub worker to do your dirty work may feel unethical.

It’s one reason why so many Americans have picked up bread-making during the pandemic. Sales of baking ingredients in general have soared, but dry yeast has been especially hard to come by. Yeast sales were up by 647% at the end of March, compared with the same week last year, according to Nielsen. In fact, yeast experienced the fastest sales growth over a seven-day period than any other grocery product tracked by Nielsen.

  1. Bidets

In many homes outside of the U.S., a bidet in the bathroom is commonplace. But here, bidets are finding newfound popularity following the toilet paper shortages that marked the beginning of the pandemic.

Google searches for bidets spiked in mid-March, while companies that sell bidets experienced a boom. Jason Ojalvo, CEO of Tushy, told Yahoo in April that sales were 10 times higher than they were pre-pandemic.

  1. Sweatpants

All dressed up with nowhere to go? If you’ve been working from home, avoiding bars and concerts, and generally lounging around the house all day, there’s no need to go out and buy new outfits. Not surprisingly, U.S. clothing sales dropped 79% in April. Sweatpants, on the other hand, are having their day. Purchases were up 80% over the same period the previous year, according to The New York Times. No doubt, many of those comfy clothes purchases were the subject of equally trendy tie-dye projects.

  1. Scented candles

If after months of stay-at-home orders your home is starting to smell extra lived-in, you’re not the only one in search of smell-good products. Candle sales have shot up during the pandemic. Net-a-Porter, for instance, reported a 130% year-over-year increase in mid-March.
