Mariah Carey Gets Special On Apple TV
Mariah Carey has landed her own Christmas special at Apple TV+. Variety confirmed Monday that Apple TV+ is developing Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special, a new special featuring music, dancing and animation. Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special will feature Carey and surprise celebrity guests. The special is driven by a story about bringing the world together. The Hollywood Reporter said the special will feature songs from Carey’s holiday catalog. Carey celebrated the 25th anniversary of her song “All I Want for Christmas is You” in 2019. Carey will executive produce the special with Ian Stewart, Raj Kapoor and Ashley Edens. Hamish Hamilton and Roman Coppola will direct. Carey is also preparing to release her memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, out Sept. 29. In the book, Carey tells her story from her perspective and gives an unfiltered look at her life.

Netflix Offers Free Programming
Netflix is offering non-subscribers free streaming of Stranger Things, Bird Box and more. Viewers can watch the first episode of Stranger Things and other shows, such as When They See Us, Elite, Love is Blind, Our Planet, Grace and Frankie and Boss Baby: Back in Business. Murder Mystery and The Two Popes are also available for free. “Netflix is the premiere destination for all your entertainment needs. But don’t take our word for it – check out some of our favorite movies and TV shows, absolutely free,” Netflix says on the free page. Netflix has not announced how long the free content will remain or if new free content will become available at a later date.

Adele Facing Photo Backlash
Adele took to Instagram on Sunday to pay tribute to Notting Hill Carnival, which was all but canceled this year as a result of the spread of coronavirus. The carnival is meant to celebrate Caribbean culture and has taken place since 1966, according to BBC. This year, the experience was virtual. “Happy what would be Notting Hill Carnival my beloved London 🇬🇧🇯🇲,” Adele wrote in the photo’s caption. In the photo, she donned a bikini top decorated with the Jamaican flag and wore her hair in Bantu knots, a traditional African hairstyle. She was accused of cultural appropriation after donning the look. “Dear white people, please just be yourselves and stop it for good with cultural appropriation,” someone commented, per People. “Adele the bantu knots were unnecessary. The Jamaican flag bikini top was unnecessary… Please just stop it.” Another said that “black women are discriminated against for wearing cultural hairstyles like bantu knots and locs but white people are not, that’s not fair and that’s why people are pissed off.” There were a handful of supporters, however.

Sharon Stone says her sister Kelly, who suffers from Lupus and had been hospitalized with COVID-19, has now tested negative for COVID. “My sister @kellystonesingr & her husband finally tested Covid negative today for the 1st time,” Stone, tweeted on Monday. She also thanked her fans for their support. Earlier this month, the actress revealed that her sister had been hospitalized with COVID-19 and blamed those who don’t wear a mask for continuing to spread the virus. “My sister Kelly, who already has lupus, now has COVID-19. This is her hospital room. One of you Non-Mask wearers did this,” she wrote on Instagram at the time, adding, “She does not have an immune system. The only place she went was the pharmacy.” Kelly also described her struggle in order to shed light on the seriousness of the situation. “I beg you to know that this is real. I’m gasping for every breath without oxygen,” she said in a previous video. “Please do this for the people that you love. stand behind more tests, more masks, demanding everyone wear a mask. You never, ever want to feel like this. I promise you.”

Largest Catfish
A Florida angler broke a state record when he reeled in a flathead catfish that tipped the scales at 69.9 pounds. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said Lavon Nowling of Santa Rosa County became a new state record holder during a recent fishing outing on the Yellow River. The 69.9-pound catfish, which measured 48.5 inches long, beat the previous record of 69.3 pounds, which was set in 2019 by angler Marvin Griffin, whose catch also came from the Yellow River. “I’ve caught some good ones before this fish, but none of them were more than 54 pounds,” Nowling said. “I’ve been fishing since I was old enough to hold a pole and have been fishing on Yellow River as long as I can remember.” See the pic HERE.

Goat Eats The Mail
An Alabama woman captured video of a roadside mailbox being raided by an unusual thief — a hungry goat. Ila Mazingo posted a video to Facebook showing a goat munching on mail from a mailbox at the side of her road in Toxey. “This cannot be made up. Welcome to Toxey,” Mazingo wrote. The resident said the goat had escaped from a nearby property and was soon recaptured by its owner. See the video HERE.

Welcome To COVID Island
A group of scenic Brazilian islands that have been closed due to the coronavirus pandemic are reopening for tourists — but only to those who can prove they had COVID-19. Authorities in the Brazilian state of Pernambuco said the Fernando de Noronha archipelago, a group of 21 volcanic islands, is preparing to allow its first visitors since closing in mid-March to slow the spread of the pandemic. Guilherme Rocha, the state’s administrator, said those seeking to visit the islands can apply online, but must provide proof they already had COVID-19. Rocha said prospective tourists must submit either a positive test for the disease that is at least 20 days old, or a test showing the presence of COVID-19 antibodies in their blood.

Karaoke Record Broken
A South African duo broke a Guinness World Record by singing karaoke songs for a total 35 consecutive hours. Jacqueline Brits and Rhinus Lotz of Mbombela said they had initially planned to sing for a full 48 hours, but they decided to stop at 35 due to exhaustion from the marathon singing session. The amount was enough to beat the record of 25 hours and take the Guinness title for longest karaoke duo marathon. The attempt took place at Wild Medlar and the venue live streamed the attempt on Facebook. The record attempt raised money for rebuilding a church in Dixie Farm, a small community outside of Barberton. Brits said the project is aiming to raise $5,866 for church construction by the end of June 2021, and the Guinness record raised $1,877 to go toward that total.
