Harry and Meghan Hire New Bodyguard
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are being protected by a bodyguard who watched over two American presidents. The Invictus Games competition for wounded service personnel and veterans opened Saturday night in the Netherlands with a standing ovation and a tribute from the Duke of Sussex to the Ukrainian team members, who temporarily left their war-torn nation to compete. The Duchess of Sussex was by her husband’s side for the opening ceremony. It was their first public appearance since stepping back as senior members of the British royal family two years ago, and during the event they were watched over by Christopher Sanchez, a former U.S. Secret Service agent who spent five years under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, according the U.K. Times. Sanchez currently works for a company that offers tailored security packages to wealthy clients, including business executives and diplomats. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex flew into the U.K. from California with their bodyguard last week and made a private visit to Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, on Thursday.

Revolve Festival Issues Apology
Revolve said it is “sincerely” sorry for leaving influencers in the lurch at its festival over the weekend. The fashion brand issued a statement in response to the outcry over its star-studded event that was compared to the now-infamous Fyre Festival disaster, during which attendees were forced to stay in FEMA tents despite paying ticket prices between $1,200 and $100,000. “In anticipation of the high level of interest in attending Revolve Festival this year, Revolve worked closely with all appropriate city and safety authorities to ensure a safe and secure path for guests to access the two-day invitation-only event,” a representative told E! News Tuesday, adding that city regulations mandated the company have an “off-site location for guest check-in and parking.” The representative noted that the off-site location featured shuttle transportation as well as ride-share access but admitted the system started to falter Saturday afternoon when their event was getting full. Revolve concluded its statement by issuing a mea culpa and promising to do better next time. The lengthy explanation came after influencers took to their accounts to expose the “most unorganized event” that nearly left someone “trampled.” Celebrities who managed to get into the event included Kim Kardahian, Halsey, Olivia Culpo and Chanel Iman and others.

Julia Roberts Gives Reason For Rom-Com Hiatus
Julia Roberts has revealed why she hasn’t starred in a rom-com in the last two decades. She admitted that the move was a conscious decision on her part, simply because she hasn’t found anything “good enough.” During an interview with the New York Times Magazine, Roberts said “people sometimes misconstrue the amount of time that’s gone by” as her “not wanting” to do a romantic comedy. “If I had read something that I thought was ‘Notting Hill’ level of writing or ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’ level of madcap fun, I would do it,” she explained. “They didn’t exist until this movie that I just did (Ticket to Paradise) that Ol Parker wrote and directed.” She also said her family is another reason why she thinks twice before taking on an onscreen project. “Here’s the thing: If I’d thought something was good enough, I would have done it,” she continued. “But I also had three kids in the last 18 years. That raises the bar even more because then it’s not only ‘Is this material good?’ It’s also the math equation of my husband’s work schedule and the kids’ school schedule and summer vacation.” “It’s not just, ‘Oh, I think I want to do this.’ I have a sense of great pride in being home with my family and considering myself a homemaker,” she added.

Minecraft Movie In The Works
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Jason Momoa is in final negotiations to star in the Warner Bros. live-action “Minecraft” movie. The popular video game Minecraft, loved by 11-year-olds and YouTube gamers, debuted in 2011 and allows players to create worlds and structures with brown, green and other colorful pixelated blocks. The studio has been developing a project based on the game since 2014, with Shawn Levy first set to direct. Then “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” star Rob McElhenney was attached to direct, but he also ditched the project back in 2018. Jared Hess (“Napoleon Dynamite,” “Nacho Libre”) is now set to direct from a script that was written by Chris Bowman and Hubbell Palmer. It’s not exactly clear who Momoa will play in the film, or even if Minecraft Steve will make an appearance.

Man Finds 40 Year Old Letter
A British man renovating his home looked behind a cupboard and found a letter written by a 14-year-old former resident in 1982. Carl Skivington said he was clearing out a room in his Burton-upon-Trent, England, home for renovations when he discovered an envelope concealed behind a cupboard. “We were really shocked actually. My partner and I were turning the box room into a nursery as my partner is 15 weeks pregnant. It had like one of these weird, pre-built cupboards in the corner which I decided I wanted to take out,” Skivington told Staffordshire Live. The envelope contained a letter signed by 14-year-old Deborah Stokes in 1982. Stokes wrote about the state of the world in the time she was writing the letter, including the prices of milk, bread and beer. She wrote that her favorite bands were Haircut One Hundred and The Boomtown Rats, and asked the finder if the groups were still around. “I hope the world is a better place by the time you see this. I like to think it will be,” the girl wrote. Skivington posted photos of the discovery to Facebook, and the photos were shared and eventually came to the attention of the author, now named Deborah Dishman. Dishman said the letter had been suggested by her father, who died two years ago. “I remember it because it was all about my dad, really, who came up with the idea. He was building the cupboard in my bedroom at the time and it was his idea to write a time capsule letter, and he believed that years on someone would find the letter,” Dishman said.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office posted a video to Facebook showing the big alligator walking through a Venice neighborhood Sunday morning on its way to Harrington Lake. “We’re not sure if the Easter bunny made its way to Harrington Lake in Venice this morning after coming across this bad boy,” the sheriff’s office wrote. The sheriff’s office said the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was notified of the alligator sighting. See the video HERE.

Florida Man Attacked By Tiger Speaks Out
A man mauled by a tiger at an airboat attraction in March is speaking out for the first time. The attack occurred on March 22 at Wooten’s Everglades Airboat Tours in Ochopee, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office. According to Wooten’s website, the attraction includes an animal sanctuary that features two tigers, two lions, otters, turtles, crocodiles and alligators. Ignacio Meabe Martinez says he was working as a mechanic for the airboat company when he decided to enter the boat where Daisy, an 18-year-old Siberian tiger, and Duruba, a 15-year-old Bengal tiger, had just finished eating. Meabe Martinez said he saw a piece of chicken on the ground in the cage and went to throw it to the tigers. “I got down on the ground when I throw her the chicken,” Meabe Martinez said. “And the tiger got my hand back and forth.” He said both tigers began biting both of his hands. Meabe Martinez admitted he wasn’t meant to have any contact with the tigers. “I’m just crazy. I don’t know what happened,” he said.

The Best And Worst Foods To Eat On A Plane, According To Nutritionists
HUFFINGTON POST
A protein-packed smoothie
This one might be a little tough to get through airport security, but if you can find any restaurants or cafés in the terminal that sell smoothies — and healthy ones, not the types packed with sugar! — you’ll have a great airplane snack. “When you drink an easy-to-digest protein smoothie, the gut is responsible for less of the ‘breakdown,’ which makes for easier digestion,” explained Abby Grimm, a registered dietitian for FWDfuel.
Fruit
Fruit is an easy, affordable food that you can bring with you and snack on mid-flight without worrying about bloat. “Oranges, bananas or other fruits can be a great source of immunity (vitamin C) as well as minerals (potassium, magnesium) that can support digestion and inflammation reduction,” Grimm said.
Water
This might be the most boring suggestion, but it’s also one of the most important ones. “Air travel tends to dehydrate us thanks to low humidity levels in the aircraft, so it’s important to keep up your water intake in-flight,” Levi said. “Bring a large (empty!) water bottle with you to the airport and fill it up before you board. Bonus points if you also ask for two cups of H2O every time the flight attendants come by with the beverage cart.”
Hard-boiled eggs or other lean protein
No, you probably won’t become best friends with your seatmate if you bring eggs with you, but your stomach will thank you for it.
“Lean proteins like hard-boiled eggs, grilled chicken, shrimp, tofu or plain Greek yogurt are great options since protein is the most satiating of the macronutrients,” Levi said. “In fact, some research suggests that high-protein snacks improve appetite control and promote satiety even more so than high-fat snacks. Packing protein-rich meals or snacks for your flight will help keep you full for longer than a bag of pretzels or salted peanuts.”
Just make sure you eat them within 2 hours of removing them from refrigeration.
String cheese with cucumbers
Sodium can be very bloating, and most of the snacks at the airport and on the plane are packed with it. So before you leave for the airport, assemble a few low-maintenance, low-sodium snacks. “Think Greek yogurt and walnuts, string cheese with cucumber or carrot sticks, or a homemade whole wheat wrap filled with grilled chicken, veggies and a low-sugar BBQ sauce,” Levi suggested.
Peppermint tea
Peppermint is oh-so-soothing for the gut, so pack a few tea bags and ask for hot water on the plane. “This will help support digestion,” Grimm said.
What you should avoid on a plane
Now for the not-so-fun part: What foods should you avoid when you fly?
Anything with carbonation
Sorry, but you’ll want to skip the mid-flight soda. “Avoid anything with carbonation,” Levi said. “Travelers love ginger ale, but bubbly drinks introduce more gas into the digestive tract. Since airplane travel tends to bring on bloat already, it’s helpful to avoid anything fizzy and instead choose something flat and hydrating, like plain old H2O.”
Broccoli, kale, beans, and other high-fiber veggies
You may think you’re making the healthy choice by eating fiber-packed veggies while on board, but you’ll probably want to wait until you land to eat them. “You’ll want to avoid high amounts of fiber like a kale salad or broccoli because these fibrous foods take longer to pass through the GI tract and may allow for fermentation of carbs from bacteria in the small intestine,” Grimm said.
Additionally, beans and cruciferous vegetables like broccoli can trigger a not-so-great reaction in the gut. “Though incredibly good for us, highly fermentable foods like beans and cruciferous vegetables are not ideal plane fare,” Levi explained. “These foods contain short-chain carbohydrates that can trigger gas and bloating in sensitive individuals.”
Chicken fingers and french fries
There’s no shortage of fast food in airport terminals, but trust us on this one: You’re better off just saying no. “Skip fatty foods like chicken fingers or fries, because high amounts of fat require high amounts of enzymes and bile to be produced and these processes are less efficient when the pressure of the gut is high,” Grimm said.
Alcohol
We’re all about indulging on vacation, but you may want to wait until you’ve reached your destination to sip on your celebratory “I’m on vacation” Champagne. “Since these beverages can act as diuretics, they may contribute to dehydration while traveling,” Levi explained.
Salty snacks
As it turns out, the very foods the flight attendants push on you are the ones you should avoid. “Salty packaged snacks like pretzels, salted nuts and potato chips can contribute to dehydration thanks to their high sodium content,” Levi said.
Air travel is famous for being tough on the gut. But with the right tweaks, you’ll arrive at your destination bloat-free and ready to fully enjoy your vacation.
