Michael Jackson Lawsuit Dropped

A judge on Monday dismissed a lawsuit brought by a man who accused the late Michael Jackson of sexually abusing him as a boy in the documentary “Leaving Neverland.”   Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Mark A. Young granted the Jackson estate’s request to dismiss the suit brought in 2013 by Wade Robson. The judge said two Jackson entertainment corporations targeted by the lawsuit had no legal duty to protect Robson from Jackson.  “There is no evidence supporting plaintiff’s contention that defendants exercised control over Jackson,” the judge wrote. “The evidence further demonstrates that defendants had no legal ability to control Jackson, because Jackson had complete and total ownership of the corporate defendants.”  The dismissal came after the judge dismissed a similar lawsuit in October by James Safechuck. Both men made their allegations previously but they were highlighted and given renewed attention in the documentary, which premiered at Sundance before gaining wide appeal on HBO.  Vince Finaldi, attorney for Robson and Safechuck, said the ruling has “fatal flaws” and will be appealed. “If allowed to stand, the decision would set a dangerous precedent that would leave thousands of children working in the entertainment industry vulnerable to sexual abuse by persons in places of power,” Finaldi said in a statement.

Princess Diana Wedding Dress To Go On Display

The wedding dress worn by Princess Diana will go on display at London’s Kensington Palace for the first time in 25 years when the royal residence reopens to the public this summer.  On loan from Diana’s sons, Prince Harry and Prince William, the billowing white gown will be showcased as part of a new temporary exhibit highlighting historic royal fashion statements and their designers, Historic Royal Palaces announced Monday. The collection, titled “Royal Style in the Making,” will run from June 3 to Jan. 2nd.  “Our summer exhibition at Kensington Palace will shine a spotlight on some of the greatest talents of British design, whose work has been instrumental in shaping the visual identity of the royal family across the twentieth century,” said Matthew Storey, exhibition curator at Historic Royal Palaces, in a statement.  The display will also include the late princess’ grand sequin-encrusted train, which, at 25 feet, distinguished Diana’s wedding dress as the longest ever worn by royalty.

The Talk co-host Carrie Ann Inaba is taking a leave of absence from the show.  She said in an Instagram video Monday that she is stepping away from the CBS talk show to focus on her health.  “Hi everyone, I wanted to let you know personally that I have decided to take a leave of absence from The Talk to focus on my wellbeing,” Inaba said.  “I know you guys understand, health is the most important thing. Schwarzenegger Comments On California Recall

Arnold Schwarzenegger wants the best person for the job of California governor — whether that’s Caitlyn Jenner or someone else.  While Jenner is a “good friend,” Schwarzenegger said that the former Olympian has as good a shot of winning as anyone else after she announced her plans last week to challenge Democratic incumbent Gov. Gavin Newsom in a potential recall election.  “The key thing about all of this is it doesn’t matter if it’s Caitlyn or anyone else — to have a clear vision of where you want to go, what are the kind of changes you want to make and why are you qualified to become governor. That’s what you have to convince the people,” Schwarzenegger said on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” “All the other stuff is all nonsense because the press will attack you no matter who you are. They attacked me but then, in the end, I won so that was the main thing.  Arnold served as California’s governor from 2003 until 2011 after a recall election.  “Anyone has a chance because I think that the people are dissatisfied with what’s going on here in California,” Schwarzenegger said.  He hopes that whoever becomes governor — he predicts there will be at least another 100 candidates who throw their names in the mix — fixes “the mess we are in right now.”
*******It’s a one-party state. Nothin’ is getting fixed!!!
*******When Arnold moved to Sacramento, he forgot to bring his manhood with him!!!!
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS IN CALI: There will be two questions on the ballot in the recall election: 1) Should Gavin Newsom be removed? 2) If he is removed, who should be governor?? If Question 1 gets more than 50%, Newsom is out. Then, whoever gets the most votes on Question 2, is the new governor!! That means you could have 100 candidates, and someone with 10% of the vote could win!! (true)

X-Rated Easter Egg Found In Shrek Movie

When it first came out in 2001, “Shrek” captivated kids and adults alike with its gross-out humor.  However, the PG-rated animated comedy may have been even more risque than once thought — thanks to an X-rated detail that was recently spotted by a superfan.  “Did anyone else catch that?” wrote TikTok user @kathy_martinez05 in a snippet of the scandalous scene, which currently boasts 8.4 million views.  The video is part of an ongoing series from the film fan that catalogs sexual jokes in kids movies, exposing inappropriate moments in flicks ranging from “Cars” to “The Cat in the Hat.”  This video depicts “Shrek” nemesis Lord Farquaad (voiced by John Lithgow) sitting naked in bed as he implores his magic mirror to show him his bride-to-be, Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz).  The mirror obliges, upon which the character sips a martini and lets out a contented sigh.  Then the bombshell moment occurs: A bulge appears under Farquaad’s zebra-print sheets, prompting him to peek under the covers.  Martinez admitted in the comments that when she was a kid watching the movie, she thought the villain had simply spilled his drink. She’s since realized that his castle is likely growing a tower.  Suffice it to say, the cheeky clip resonated with commenters, who also had their childhood surreptitiously stolen by the Disney joke.  “My last 1% of innocence I had, just left my soul,” lamented one viewer of the explicit Easter egg.  Another wrote, “I will never forgive you for this.”  See the clip HERE.
*******Hey… he couldn’t help it!!!

Beaver Chews Through The Internet

A Canadian telecommunications company said about 900 customers in a British Columbia town lost Internet service when beavers chewed through a fiber cable.  Telus said customers in Tumbler Ridge lost service at 4 a.m. Saturday, and repair crews discovered beavers had chewed through an important fiber cable at multiple points.  Liz Sauve, a spokeswoman for Telus, said in an email to CBC News that it was a “very bizarre and uniquely Canadian turn of events.”  “Our team located a nearby dam, and it appears the beavers dug underground alongside the creek to reach our cable, which is buried about 3 feet underground and protected by a 4.5-inch thick conduit. The beavers first chewed through the conduit before chewing through the cable in multiple locations,” Sauve wrote.  Repair crews captured photos showing pieces of Telus equipment being used by the beavers to build their dams.  The company said Internet service to Tumbler Ridge was restored fully by Sunday afternoon.

Gronk Breaks World Record

NFL star Rob Gronkowski returned to his alma mater, the University of Arizona, to break a world record by catching a football dropped from a helicopter 600 feet above the ground.  Gronkowski, who was serving as an honorary coach alongside former New England Patriots teammate Tedy Bruschi for the ASU Wildcats’ game Saturday, donned a jersey bearing his old university No. 48 to make the Guinness World Record-breaking catch.  The Tampa Bay Buccaneer made the catch on his third attempt, celebrating with his trademark “Gronk Spike.”  “Every time you step on the field, you’ve got to raise that bar to another level, baby,” CNN quoted Gronkowski as saying after the catch. “And I just raised that bar to this level.”  See the video HERE.

Guys Named Josh Have Pool Noodle Fight

Hundreds of people with the first name Josh gathered in Nebraska with pool noodles for a battle royal that began as a joke on social media.  Josh Swain, 22, an Arizona college student, said he was bored during the pandemic in April 2020, so as a joke he sent a message to a few people who shared his name and challenged them to duel him in one-year’s time in a Nebraska park.  Swain said the joke soon turned into a real plan, and Saturday, hundreds of Joshes gathered with pool noodles in Lincoln’s Air Park to battle it out.  The event began with Swain and another Josh Swain, who hails from Omaha, playing rock paper scissors for the rights to their name. The Arizona student won the initial contest, and the event then turned to the pool noodle melee.  A 4-year-old boy named Joshua Vinson Jr. was declared the winner of the pool noodle battle, and was presented with a Burger King crown and hoisted into the air to a round of cheers from all of the Joshes there.  See the video HERE.

Cow Leads Police Chase

Police in Connecticut said an escaped cow led its owner and officers on an hours-long chase through several neighborhoods.  The Fairfield Police Department said a call came in about midnight related to a loose cow in an intersection. Officers pursued the cow alongside the animal’s owner.  It led its pursuers on an hours-long chase, and was photographed walking past the Country Cow Deli.  The animal was corralled about 2 miles from where it initially was spotted. It sat down, refusing to move for more than an hour. Police said the bovine eventually was returned to its owner’s home.

5 Things You Should Do First Thing In The Morning To Be Happier All Day

Huffington Post

  1. Pick a wellness habit, then link it to an a.m. ritual you already have.

This first tip is pretty broad, and that’s on purpose. Because the truth is there are many evidence-backed strategies people can use to try to boost happiness.

So you might take some time to cultivate awareness through meditation. (One simple strategy: Close your eyes and focus on the act of taking 10 breaths.) Or you might be intrigued by the research that shows incorporating exercise into your daily routine can help boost happiness. Maybe you’d like to spend a few seconds every morning simply focusing on whatever nature you see outside your window, whether it’s the grass in your yard or the sky over the city.

There really are so many different wellness habits that can help you, according to psychiatrist Murray Zucker, chief medical officer of the health care platform Happify. The key is simply to start with one — whatever it is— then attach it to a routine that you already have. You’re linking habit to ritual, he explained.

So maybe every morning you get up, go to the bathroom, then make your bed. Link a moment in that routine (say, the bed making) to the habit you want to cultivate (maybe it’s reading 10 pages in a book). By tacking it on to something you already do, you’re much more likely to actually stick with it. And consistency really is the key to boosting happiness over time, Zucker said.

“Start slow and build gradually,” he added. He encourages people to really just start with one new habit you want to link to your existing routine, then go from there.

  1. Get your phone out of your room.

“Do not have your screen in your room,” said Allison Task, a career and life coach who said that she insists on this as a non-negotiable with her clients. That’s because when you reach for your phone (or tablet, or computer, or click on the TV) first thing in the morning, you’re really inviting the outside world to dictate your mood first thing, she said.

And there really is a lot of evidence supporting the idea that screens hamper happiness. Studies have linked frequent social media use to decreased mood over time; other research has shown that a high volume of emails is connected with overall feelings of unhappiness.

Furthermore, screens can get in the way of sleep, which is deeply connected to people’s overall sense of well-being.

“Sleep is just a game changer,” Task said. You might not be able to control what time your toddler shuffles into your room in the morning or what time your alarm starts to blare, but you can at least try to protect your sleeping hours by keeping screens out of your room.

  1. Talk to yourself…

Zucker noted that people tend to spend a lot of time talking to themselves in their own heads, particularly in the morning when feeling frazzled or stressed about what’s to come. He is a big fan of noticing self-talk and self-correcting using this simple technique: say your name.

“If you use your own name in your self-talk, you’re more likely to follow cognitive advice,” Zucker explained.

If, for example, you have a big presentation at work and you notice that you’re spending the morning psyching yourself out, telling yourself that you’re going to flop, you really can make yourself pretty nervous, Zucker said.

“But if I say: ‘Murray. You’ve done this before. You like doing this,’” you really can take some control over your own thoughts, which can set you up for greater happiness throughout the day.

“Just using your own name can be very helpful,” Zucker said.

Connecting with someone — even on your phone — in the morning can offer mood-boosting benefits that will linger throughout the day.

  1. … and somebody else.

“Make a social contact with somebody you have positive regard for,” Zucker said. This could really be anyone — a spouse or child, a friend, an extended family member.

What that “social contact” looks like really depends on your personality and your schedule. “For someone who is busy, it may be a phone call or a text. If you have more time, meeting someone for a cup of coffee to start your day is really a boost,” Zucker said.

But research suggests that even if you don’t actually meet up with someone or send them an email or text, it can be enough to simply send good thoughts their way. “You can start with a simple appreciation practice,” Cortland Dahl, a research scientist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Center for Healthy Minds, previously told HuffPost. Just bring a friend or loved one into your mind, then consciously focusing on the things you really cherish about them.

  1. Incorporate gratitude.

While it’s true that there is a huge range of habits that can help boost happiness in the morning, researchers and clinicians tend to return to one again and again because it’s so powerful: gratitude.

In research trials, people who journaled about the things they’re thankful for during the week scored much higher on measures of happiness than people who instead noted things they’d been irritated by. And a daily gratitude practice may even contribute to improved physical health — which, in turn, contributes to overall feelings of happiness.

There are many different ways to work gratitude into your morning routines, but it can (and should!) be simple.

“Many religions do a morning prayer,” said Task, who added that spending a moment doing something similar — whether you’re religious or not — can be a doable morning habit to cultivate.

“Take that pause to appreciate that you’re alive, whatever that means to you,” she urged. Say to yourself: “I’m so glad I’m alive, and I get to play with my 2-year-old daughter,” Task offered by way of example. Or that you get to go to work. Or you get to walk your dog. Or even that you get to hit the snooze button again — yes, even if experts generally say it’s not a great idea.
