Low Super Bowl Ratings

Ratings for the Super Bowl on Sunday, between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs, were the lowest for any NFL title game in more than a decade.  According to ratings released Tuesday by Viacom and CBS, which broadcast the game, the game had 96.4 million viewers.  That’s the smallest audience share for any Super Bowl since 2007.  Television viewers numbered 91.7 million, but CBS said streaming viewers (5.7 million) brought the “highest average minute audience for any NFL game” and were up 65% over last year’s game.  CBS said the markets with the highest viewership were Kansas City, Tampa, Fla., and Boston, where Brady played last year and the bulk of his career.  Last year’s Super Bowl between the Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers attracted 102 million viewers.
********See what happens when you can’t have Super Bowl parties??? Thanks, Fauci!!!
*******Is Tom Brady the Donald Trump of quarterbacks??

Mary Wilson Dies

Mary Wilson, a founding member of The Supremes, has died at age 76.  Wilson died suddenly at her home in Henderson, Nev. on Monday, the singer’s friend and publicist Jay Schwartz confirmed to Entertainment Tonight.  No cause of death was disclosed.  She was an original member of The Supremes when the Motown group was formed in 1959. Wilson appeared in the group alongside Diana Ross and the late Florence Ballard.  Wilson recently posted on her YouTube channel that she was working with Universal Music on releasing more solo music. She is survived by her daughter Turkessa, son Pedro Antonio Jr., 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Wilson’s son Rafael was killed in a car accident at age 14 in 1994.

Alex Trebek’s Daughter Honors Him

Alex Trebek’s daughter is honoring him three months after his death.  On Monday, his daughter Nicky, who he shared with his ex-wife Elaine Trebek Kares, took to Instagram to honor her late dad on the three month anniversary of his passing. She shared a photo of Trebek on the “Jeopardy!” set excitedly pointing at the board with both hands.  “#february8 it’s been 3 months and rather than post something sad I #choosejoy,” she wrote. “This always makes me laugh thinking about how many times he did that trying to get it right.”  She concluded the caption with a series of hashtags that read, “#threemonths #missingyoualways #dad #milestonesandmemories.”  Nicky’s comment that Trebek practiced doing even something as simple as pointing for the show he loved comes as no surprise to fans. After announcing his diagnosis, Trebek made it clear to viewers that he would not be stepping down as the host of the show as long as his health would continue to allow him to perform at the same quality for viewers.
*******We’ll take “Gratitude” for $1,000!!!!

Halle Berry Hits Back At Critics

Halle Berry recently took to Instagram to share a simple, empowering quote: “Women don’t owe you s—t.”  “& that’s on mary had a little lamb,” she added in the caption.  While the actress found the quote to be pertinent, some of her followers weren’t too pleased with what Berry had to say.  “With all of your accomplishments, fame, beauty, it seems, as if, you CAN’T keep a man,” commented a viewer.  She wasn’t having it, however, and clapped back.  “Who said I wanted to keep them?” she asked. “I’m all about living your best life, if you make a wrong move, course correct and re-spin and start again!”  Her response wasn’t enough to shut down additional critics, however, as another echoed the sentiment that she “can’t keep a man.”  “Who says I wanna keep the wrong man? cuz…..I don’t,” she said.  When a commenter asked whether Berry has faced “trouble with men in [her] life,” she responded with: “Nope, they had trouble with me.”  She has a storied romantic history, having been married three times.  She first wed former pro baseball player David Justice in 1993 before they divorced in ’97. In 2001, she married singer Eric Benét and they divorced in 2005. Finally, she married actor Olivier Martinez in 2013 and they separated in 2016.

Britney Spears’ Boyfriend Calls Out Her Father

Sam Asghari is calling out Jamie Spears for allegedly “trying to control” his relationship with Britney Spears in an explosive Instagram post.  “Now it’s important for people to understand that I have zero respect for someone trying to control our relationship and constantly throwing obstacles our way,” he said on his Instagram Story on Tuesday. “In my opinion Jamie [Spears] is a total d–k.”  He added that he “won’t be going into details” about what caused him to speak out because he “always respected our privacy.”  However, he concluded, “But at the same time I did not come to this country to not be able to express my opinion and freedom.”  Britney has been dating Asghari since the pair met on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video in 2016. Aside from posting pictures from their various vacations, the couple is usually private about the intimate details of their relationship.  However, with the release of the New York Times documentary “Framing Britney Spears,” Asghari hinted that he is looking for some “normalcy” amid his girlfriend’s ongoing conservatorship battle with her father, Jamie.
*********Again, something that could be handled in private????

Streisand Hooked On Playing Market!-(National Enquirer)

Megabucks Barbra Streisand has long lived with a secret addiction-gambling on the stock market, snitched sources, who said the star’s high-stakes hobby has hubby James Brolin worried and is putting her $400 million fortune at risk!  According to an insider, the “Don’t Rain on My Parade” singer, 78, rises early each weekday-while James, 80, is usually asleep-to catch the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange, and if she finds anything “interesting,” she’ll start trading like crazy!  “I’d be up at 6:30, light a fire, have a hot chocolate and trade until 1 p.m.” the songbird recently chirped.  Insiders claimed the savvy singer is nearly as good at playing the market as she is at playing to an audience-and can’t seem to get enough of the action!  “Barbra was a prodigy child singer, and she’s a natural born trader, too!” a source spilled.  “She does her own research and weighs al the information and then she acts on it.”

Reese & Jim:  Divorce Shocker!-(Star)

Looking for the exit:  Cracks are showing in the power couple’s 10-year marriage.  “It’s widely accepted Reese Witherspoon has become the bigger business brain in the marriage, and that grates on [husband] Jim Toth’s nerves,” says the insider.  “It’s a very different dynamic from how they came into the relationship.”  Indeed, Jim left his high-profile gig at a premiere talent agency in 2019-his roster included Matthew McConaughey-to head up the now-defunct streaming service, Quibi.  The much-hyped, $1.75 billion startup shut down in late 2020 just six months after launching.  “Quibi was Jim’s baby, and he was determined to make a got of it, but it turned out to be a disaster,” says the insider.  While Reese was supportive when it fell apart, the insider says some wonder why Jim hadn’t turned to her for advice earlier.  “He could have gone to her,” the insider notes.

Say What?!-(Life & Style)

“Every time I land from a flight, whether it’s from Texas to California, which is only three hours, or if I’m landing from Dubai, which is a 17-hour flight, the first thing I do is get in the kitchen and cook.  It’s the one thing that makes me feel at home.”-Eva Longoria, whose go-to meal is chicken tacos.

“My friendships really are gardens, and I cultivate them.  I’ve been friends with all my friends, for, like 20, 30, 40 years.”-Drew Barrymore, describing her girlfriends as “my first family.”

9 Signs You’re Ready To Quit Your Job

Huffington Post

  1. You realize you’re being undervalued.

Wanting a bigger paycheck (no surprise!) is the top reason that people decide to quit their jobs, according to a PayScale survey of over 38,000 respondents.

“The pay gap continues to be an issue for women, more specifically for Black, Indigenous, and other women of color. Compensation should match our contributions in the workplace, and when it doesn’t, we feel undervalued,” said workplace strategist Keni Dominguez.

If you’ve confirmed that you are underpaid and you’re not able to obtain a raise in a reasonable amount of time, Dominguez suggested reaching out to your network to see if anyone knows of new opportunities that could be a good fit.

The danger of staying is that you may start to sell yourself short, too. “The longer you stay someplace where you don’t feel like you’re valued or compensated adequately, it impacts how you think about your career and your work in general,” said Cicely Horsham-Brathwaite, a licensed psychologist and executive coach. “It lessens your awareness of what your strengths are, your skills are. You start to view yourself based on how your manager or the company demonstrates their value for you.”

  1. You realize your workplace values burnout culture.

When you’re expected to be available 24/7 and there is little tolerance for taking vacation or sick leave, you’re at a company that wants employees to work until they burn out. Get out while you can.

“They’re much more interested in you serving the company rather than the company serving you in any way,” said Lisa Orbé-Austin, a licensed psychologist and executive coach.

“An organization that has a burnout culture, I think it’s particularly dangerous for professionals because oftentimes they leave you with nothing left,” she added. “And it can be hard to search, it can be hard to be motivated to think about your next move if you’re in a burnout culture.”

  1. You need to numb yourself after work to do your work.

Burnout is a condition of chronic workplace stress that can lead you to feel increasingly disengaged and cynical about your job.

As a result, you may engage in numbing behaviors to survive the week or overindulge over the weekend to face Monday, Orbé-Austin said. People may “start drinking or they start playing video games to detach” when the workday ends, she said, noting that these behaviors can be an attempt to “soothe from the pain of the day.”

To determine whether your numbing behavior is related to work, track your symptoms, including when they are triggered and how often you engage in them, Orbé-Austin said.

  1. The job is causing you physical stress.

If the thought of your job is tormenting you with sleepless nights, muscle aches, stomach aches, headaches and other physical symptoms of stress, these are signs that your job is toxic. Long hours, lack of autonomy and economic insecurity can all contribute to the kind of harmful workplace environment that you need to ditch rather than try to cope with, organizational behavior experts previously told HuffPost.

When we are in periods of intense stress, it’s hard to make rational decisions. Horsham-Brathwaite advised talking with a mental health professional to weigh your options, including quitting or taking a leave of absence if your health has been compromised.

  1. You cry over going to work.

Career empowerment coach Melanie Denny said if you cry every day you go to work, that’s a sign to pay attention to.

“If you’ve reached a point where you dread going to the office, it’s definitely time to go. Although there are several reasons you may feel this way, none of them are worth your sanity and mental wellbeing,” Denny said. “Get out of there ASAP.”

  1. You can’t be yourself at work.

Pretending to be someone you’re not in order to succeed can take a heavy psychological toll.

“If you are in an environment that seeks conformity from people in order to be successful, that can begin to feel untenable,” said Horsham-Brathwaite. She gave the example of people who thrive on collaboration and sharing ideas being stuck in workplaces that value competition and individualism.

“I’ve heard people say, ‘I used to be warm and caring, I used to be relaxed. Now I find myself being manipulative or cutthroat and I almost don’t know who I am anymore,’” Horsham-Brathwaite said.

“If you feel the need to constantly code-switch or act like someone you’re not to fit in or gain approval from your boss, it’s not fair to you,” Denny said. “You cannot shine your light and be at your best if you’re not being who you are. There are many companies out there that allow you to share your personality and be unapologetically who you are. Start looking.”

  1. You are bored.

Learning keeps us motivated, and when you stop learning, it’s often a sign that you have outgrown your job. “If the work that you are doing doesn’t allow you to feel like you are accomplishing or achieving, I think that contributes to boredom for the people that I see,” said Horsham-Brathwaite.

If you feel like you’re doing the same thing over and over and you’re not getting opportunities to do the next thing that you’re ready for, that could be a sign you should move on, Orbé-Austin said.

  1. You spend more time thinking about opportunities outside your actual job.

If you find yourself being consumed by a passion that isn’t part of your job, that could be a sign that you are ready for a career switch.

“One of the biggest [signs of this] is where you just feel unsettled,” said Ramona Ortega, founder of My Money My Future, a personal finance platform. “Your interest in something else is compelling you to do research, read about it, go to meetup groups.”

Ortega said that when she finds herself reading, talking and daydreaming about a new career direction, that’s generally her cue that she’s ready for a change. When she was thinking of starting My Money My Future, she said she was compelled to act by “the nagging of ‘I have to do this, because if not me, whom?’”

  1. You feel uneasy.

Listen to the part of you that feels “off” when you’re at work.

“When you are not at ease with yourself … that is the cue you need to be moving in another direction,” media mogul Oprah Winfrey told a group of Stanford Graduate School of Business students in 2014. “The way through the challenge is to get still and ask yourself, ‘What is the next right move?’ Not thinking about, ‘Ohh, I got all of this to ―.’ ‘What is the next right move?’”

If you’re weighing whether quitting is your next right move, consider how much this feeling of unease has impacted all areas of your work.

“Most people aren’t jumping up and down for their jobs, but there’s still something they like about it ― they like their co-workers, they like coming into the office, they generally don’t mind their jobs or they’re looking for opportunities inside their company,” Ortega said. “They’re at ease, even if it’s not exciting every day.”

But when you’re “generally feeling uneasy with almost everything about your job, that’s probably the time” to leave, she said.
