Bill Cosby Doesn’t Want Another Trial

An attorney for Bill Cosby asked the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday to reject prosecutors’ recent bid to revive his criminal sexual assault case now that he’s been released from prison.   He has been free since June, when a Pennsylvania appeals court overturned his conviction and released him after nearly three years.  The state’s highest court found that Cosby believed he had a non-prosecution agreement with a former district attorney when he gave damaging testimony in the accuser’s 2005 lawsuit. That testimony later led to his arrest in 2015.  Cosby lawyer Jennifer Bonjean says the case does not rise to the level of interest for the Supreme Court. She notes the entire case rests on a narrow set of facts.  “Notwithstanding the commonwealth’s warning of imminent catastrophic consequences, the Cosby holding will likely be confined to its own ‘rare, if not entirely unique’ set of circumstances, making review by this court particularly unjustified,” she wrote in the 15-page response filed Monday.  Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, District Attorney Kevin Steele’s attempt to revive the case is a long shot. The U.S. Supreme Court accepts fewer than 1% of the petitions it receives. At least four justices on the nine-member court would have to agree to hear the case.
**********They could at least wait until they get the new black woman on the court!!
*****The case is called “Pennsylvania Vs. Huxtable!!”

Friends Of Bob Saget Meet Up At The Comedy Store

Bob Saget’s family members and friends in Hollywood gathered this week to pay tribute to him at Los Angeles’ The Comedy Store.  Saget’s wife, Kelly Rizzo, and his daughters were joined by a bevy of his celebrity pals including John Stamos, Jeff Ross, John Mayer, Jim Carrey, and Chris Rock, for a “loosely structured” evening full of laughter on Sunday, Stamos’ publicist Matt Polk confirmed in an email to Fox News Digital.  The celebration of Saget’s career took place at the very spot where his career flourished. The farewell concert was hosted by Ross, Stamos and Maye and produced by Saget’s longtime pal, Mike Binder.  The night included performances by Carrey, Rock, Mayer, Darren Criss, Jackson Browne, Michael Keaton, Jon Lovitz, Seth Green, Mike Young, Paul Rodriguez, and Byron Allen, who “brought diverse voices unified in the love of one amazing man who inspired them all,” Polk said.  Stamos and Mayer formed an impromptu house band alongside other comics. The sold-out farewell concert benefited the Scleroderma Research Foundation, a cause near and dear to Saget. His sister Gay died of the disease.
****Good guy.. gone too soon!!
******What a great lineup of comedians!! It must have been a “Full House!!”

NFL Sunday Score HUGE Ratings

Sunday’s 49ers-Rams NFC Championship Game averaged 50.42 million viewers across FOX and Fox Deportes (50.23M on FOX alone), marking the most-watched conference title game since Patriots-Chiefs on CBS in 2019 (53.90M) and the most-watched NFC Championship since 49ers-Seahawks in 2014 (55.91M).  The Rams’ win, which peaked with 55.22 million from 9:15-9:30 PM ET, ranks as one of just 11 non-Super Bowl television programs to crack the 50 million viewer mark since the series finale of “Seinfeld” in 1998 (76.3M). Ten of those are NFL conference championship games and the other was the series finale of “Friends” 2004 (52.5M).

JLo Gushes About Ben

Jennifer Lopez feels “so lucky and proud” to be getting a second chance with boyfriend Ben Affleck.  She gushed about reuniting with her ex-fiancé in a new cover story for People, calling their do-over a blessing.  “I feel so lucky and happy and proud to be with him,” she told the magazine, which noted that the room in Lopez’s house where they conducted the interview now serves as Affleck’s office when he visits.  “It’s a beautiful love story that we got a second chance.”  She admitted that going through the media circus that was their first relationship — and subsequent breakup — has them far more prepared for how to handle life in the public eye this time.  “We both were like, ‘Wow, we’re so happy and we don’t want any of that to come into play again.’ We’re older now, we’re smarter, we have more experience,” she explained. “We’re at different places in our lives, we have kids now, and we have to be very conscious of those things. We’re so protective because it is such a beautiful time for all of us.”  She said she wants to “do everything I can to protect” her “happy and loving” relationship with Affleck because they both hold it “sacred.”  “It deserves that, it really does,” she shared.
******When they start gushing like that, it’s usually close to the end!!!
*****She just found out that A Rod still has her kids!!!

Adele Working On Her Relationship

Adele has been holed up with boyfriend Rich Paul after their “volatile” relationship allegedly contributed to the cancellation of her Las Vegas residency.  After she dramatically canceled her dates at Caesars Palace, causing an outcry from fans who spent thousands on tickets, the singer went straight to the NBA manager’s Beverly Hills home, and has remained there ever since.  Insiders say they have been trying to fix things, and Paul is helping her renegotiate her contract with the Vegas casino owners.  A source who knows her says, “She and Rich had been fighting, and their relationship was volatile before she canceled her dates.”  The insider continued, “Adele is very emotional and dramatic. He’s an NBA guy who has to go on the road — they are very different — and they hit a rough patch.”
********So all the people who bought those tickets can just suck it!!
*****If he’s “on the road” with the NBA, there could be some cheatin’ goin’ on! Just sayin’!!

Win Free Pizza During The Super Bowl

DiGiorno is bringing back its annual “Big Game promotion,” offering fans a chance to win free pizza during Super Bowl LVI.  The “it’s not delivery” frozen pizza company said the contest centers on pie — both pizza and pi, the mathematical constant that is approximately equal to 3.14159.  If the score — at any point of the Super Bowl — is 3-14 (or 14-3), DiGiorno says it will give away free pizza to lucky fans who enter the contest online here. Individuals can enter between Feb. 6 and Feb. 13 for a chance to score the free pie.  Those who do will receive a coupon redeemable for free DiGiorno pizza.  If any of these pi-worthy instances take place during the Super Bowl, one lucky fan per prop will be chosen at random to win free pizza for the 2022 pro-football season — which equates to 267 pizzas, the company said.

Florida’s Rejected Vanity Plates

Florida officials released a list of the personalized license plate requests they rejected in 2021, including “T BUNDY” and “FAAART.”  The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles said state law allows the agency to reject any vanity plate requests deemed to be obscene or objectionable, and many are rejected by office staff before the requests reach the agency.  The department said more than 500 plate requests were rejected in 2021 for containing obscenities including profanity and letter and number combinations deemed to be offensive or making reference to offensive topics. Several others were recalled to the agency after being reported by members of the public.  The rejected plates include “T BUNDY,” “FAAART,” “2020WTF,” “4EVER69,” “DRUGMAN,” “IFART,” “M3TH,” “NUUUUTS,” “VNASTY,” “WHTRA5H,” “YASSQWN” and “DR69.”

Farmer’s Sculpture Worth Big Money

A lead sculpture that spent decades on the mantle of a British farmhouse was identified as a rare piece by British artist Henry Moore, and is expected to fetch up to $70,000 at auction.  The sculpture, which is scheduled to be auctioned March 16 by Dreweatts, was identified as a work titled Mother and Child by 20th century Modernist sculptor Henry Moore.  The auction house said the sculpture was on the mantle in John Hastings’ Wiltshire, England, home from the 1970s until his death in 2019.  The family had Hastings’ belongings appraised after his death, and the appraiser pointed out the sculpture’s similarities to works by Moore.  The Hastings family contacted Dreweatts and the Henry Moore Foundation, both of which had the artwork authenticated by their respective experts.  Dreweatts specialist Francesca Whithams said the sculpture is considered especially rare, as Moore only worked with lead briefly in the 1930s. She said the piece was previously unknown to experts.

Couple Gets Married During Blizzard

A Rhode Island couple decided to keep their chosen wedding date — despite their outdoor ceremony coinciding with a historic blizzard that dumped snow over the northeastern United States.  Adam and Sally Irujo said they chose their Jan. 29 wedding date 14 months ago, and when forecasters began to predict historic snowfall for the date, they had to decide whether to go through with their plans for an outdoor ceremony.  “We have a few cutting boards with this date on it, a couple mugs, and a marriage license with it on it,” Sally Irujo told WJAR-TV.  The couple said they consulted with friends, family and their vendors and decided to go forward with the ceremony.  The wedding took place Saturday outside the Providence Public Library, with snow blanketing the area around them as the couple exchanged their vows.

The 5 Worst Mistakes That Can Bankrupt You

The Penny Hoarder

  1. Living Beyond Your Means

Too many of us are guilty of this one, because we live in a consumer society and an Instagram culture: Look at me, look at me, look at how successful I am.

Here are examples of living beyond your means:

  • Being “house poor,” with a dream home and a huge mortgage you can barely afford
  • Moving to your dream city without the income to live there
  • Buying an expensive car to impress people
  • Overspending on travel

Get in the habit of spending less than you make.

  1. Not Having an Emergency Fund

Living frugally also allows you to build up an emergency fund. If you don’t have an emergency fund, an unforeseen emergency can force you to max out your credit cards and/or borrow money. Then you’re spending money paying back expensive interest.

An emergency fund is a stash of easily accessible money that equals three to six months’ worth of salary, in case you unexpectedly lose your job. And millions of us have unexpectedly lost our jobs over the past year.

With the Aspiration Spend account, you can earn up to 5% cash back on your debit card purchases. With the Aspiration Save account (where you can funnel your tax refund), you can earn up to 20 times the average interest on your savings balance. (The FDIC reports that the average account earns just .05%.)

It takes five minutes to sign up.

  1. Making Bad Investments

Investing is a key strategy for growing your money. But there are so many bad investments you can make!

For example, watch out for multi-level marketing schemes. Direct sales companies can be an opportunity to strike out on your own with the support of an established brand. But the MLM model lends itself easily to scams, so do your research before signing up and handing over startup money.

A more straightforward way to invest is through an app like Robinhood. Whether you’ve got $5, $100 or $800 to spare, you can start there.

Yeah, you’ve probably heard of Robinhood. Both investing beginners and pros love it because it doesn’t charge commission fees, and you can buy and sell stocks for free — no limits. Plus, it’s super easy to use.

What’s best? When you download the app and fund your account (it takes no more than a few minutes), Robinhood drops a share of free stock into your account. It’s random, though, so that stock could be worth anywhere from $2.50 to $200 — a nice boost to help you build your investments.

  1. Not Having a Budget

Don’t want to go broke? Don’t want to budget? Try the budget for people who hate budgets.

The 50/30/20 method for budgeting is one of the simplest ways to get your spending in check. No 100-line spreadsheets or major lifestyle changes required.

Here’s how it works: Take your total after-tax income each month, and divide it in half. That’s your essentials budget (50%). Take the rest, and divide it into personal spending (30%) and financial goals (20%).

Let’s break it down: That’s 50% for things like utilities, groceries, medications, minimum debt payments and other essential spending. Then there’s 30% for fun: Thai takeout, your Netflix subscription, dressing up a skeleton on your lawn for Halloween.

That leaves 20% for your financial goals, like additional debt-reduction payments (anything above the minimum monthly payment) along with retirement savings and investments.

This is a smart way to avoid going broke.

  1. Burning Money on Credit Card Interest

More and more Americans are financially strapped, due to the high unemployment rate, and they’re maxing out their credit cards. The interest rates those cards charge you can quickly rise above 20% and will persistently gobble up so much of your income that you’ll never get ahead.

Truth is, your credit card company doesn’t care. It’s just getting rich by ripping you off with high interest rates. But a website called AmOne wants to help.

If you owe your credit card companies $50,000 or less, AmOne will match you with a low-interest loan you can use to pay off every single one of your balances.

The benefit? You’ll be left with one bill to pay each month. And because personal loans have lower interest rates (AmOne rates start at 3.99% APR), you’ll get out of debt that much faster.

AmOne won’t make you stand in line or call your bank, either. And if you’re worried you won’t qualify, it’s free to check online. It takes just two minutes, and it could help you eliminate this red flag in your life — once and for all.
