Oscar Nominations Announced

Netflix’s The Power of the Dog was nominated for a leading 12 Academy Awards — including Best Picture — in Los Angeles Tuesday morning.  The streaming service’s Don’t Look Up earned four nods, The Lost Daughter scored three and Tick Tick Boom garnered two.  Power director Jane Campion became the first woman ever nominated for Best Director twice. She won for helming 1993’s The Piano.  Dune from Warner Bros. earned 10 nominations this year, while Belfast from Focus Features and West Side Story from Walt Disney each picked up seven nominations and King Richard from Warner Bros. grabbed six.  Black-ish actress Tracee Ellis Ross and Call Me Kat actor Leslie Jordan read aloud the names of the nominees in an online ceremony.  Winners will be announced on March 27 at a gala that will air live on ABC from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
*****SPOILER ALERT!! “The Power of the Dog” SUCKS!! Hope we didn’t ruin it for you!!
*****Then again, if you like murder, cruelty, molestation and repressed homosexuality, it might your “feel-good movie of the year!!”
*****The Oscars are not about the audience anymore. They’re about industry insiders and the “social justice activists” who make a living pulling their chain!!!
****The only one of these movies we watched all the way through was “Don’t Look Up!!”

Pete Davidson Acknowledges Kim K As His Girlfriend

Pete Davidson seemingly confirmed his relationship with Kim Kardashian by calling her his “girlfriend” for the first time.  He used the term to refer to Kardashian while talking about living his life in the spotlight during a recent interview with People. “Well, I don’t really have Instagram — I don’t have Instagram or Twitter or any of that stuff. So, most of my daily life is getting into cars and showing up to a set,” Davidson told Kay Adams, host of People (The TV Show!).  “Or, if I’m off, I just either hang with my friends or chill with my girlfriend inside. So I don’t do much,” he added.  The admission by Davidson marks the first time he’s publicly confirmed his romance with the “Keeping up with the Kardashians” star since the two sparked romance rumors in October.
*****When he says “I chill with my girlfriend,” he means his REAL girlfriend, not the soul-sucking Kim K!!
*******You’ll notice what he DOESN’T do?? He doesn’t spend hours on SOCIAL MEDIA!! Maybe THAT’S why he’s successful???
****He also doesn’t waste time watching the Kardashians on TV!
******All we can say is “RUN, PETE!! RUN!!!”

Alec Baldwin Returns To Acting

Alec Baldwin returned to work on Monday, ending his three-and-a-half month hiatus from acting since the “Rust” shooting claimed the life of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.  He has been documenting his travels to the United Kingdom. On Monday, he revealed in a video just what it’s like to start acting again after stepping away from the camera.  “I said I would keep a little diary while I was traveling and working. We had our first day today which is always tricky. I don’t work as much as I used to and I’ve said this before maybe, but you go to work, and you forget what you’re supposed to do. I just was like, oh, God what do you do? What is acting or any of this nonsense that I’ve ended up doing? It’s strange to go back to work. I haven’t worked since October 21st of last year when this horrible thing happened on the set of this film, and the accidental death of our cinematographer Halyna Hutchins,” Baldwin said while lying down in bed.  He went on to claim he’s still in disbelief about the shooting that took place on the New Mexico set.  “I may still even find that hard to say. I went back to work today for the first time in three and a half months and movies are nearly always the same,” he said.
*****The director is not allowed to say, “Let’s shoot this scene!!!”
****Alec is still hoping he can dodge a bullet… unlike the woman he shot!!
******At least he gets to go back to work… for the time being!!!

Nick Cannon Gets Birth Control Gift

Nick Cannon shared a photo of himself standing next to a vending machine stocked with condoms.  “Looks like somebody just sent me an early Valentine’s Day gift!! Vending Machine full of Magnums” he captioned the photo of himself pulling a funny face while standing next to the prophylactic dispenser.  He announced that he is expecting his eighth child with Bre Tiesi, having revealed weeks before that his son Zen with model Alyssa Scott died from brain cancer at 5 months old.  He also recently divulged that his therapist advised him to become celibate after he shared the news that Tiesi was pregnant.  “That was the reason why I started my celibacy journey back then … I was [celibate] because I was dealing with [this],” before admitting that he felt like his life was “out of control” at the time.  Cannon started his celibacy journey after welcoming four children with three different women in under a year.  Last June he welcomed Zen and twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir with Abby De La Rosa.  Six months prior, Cannon and ex Brittany Bell welcomed daughter Powerful Queen, who joined their 4-year-old son Golden. He also has 10-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with ex-wife Mariah Carey.
********Don’t they know?? You can’t stop a Cannon with a condom!!!

Matrix Producer Suing Studio Over Debut

The Matrix Resurrections” co-producer Village Roadshow Entertainment Group is taking Warner Bros. to court over its dismal debut.  The production company has alleged that the film’s distributor breached contract when they decided on a dual-release, in theaters and to stream on HBO Max, according to a complaint that the Wall Street Journal reported was filed at the Los Angeles Superior Court Monday.  In fact, Warner Media ordered its entire 2021 roster to be released on their sister platform HBO Max, while moving up the release date for “The Matrix Resurrections” from its originally scheduled 2022 premiere to December 2021, attorneys for Village Roadshow claimed in the filing.  “WB’s sole purpose in moving the release date of ‘The Matrix Resurrections’ forward was to create a desperately needed wave of year-end HBO Max premium subscriptions from what it knew would be a blockbuster film, despite knowing full well that it would decimate the film’s box office revenue and deprive Village Roadshow of any economic upside that WB and its affiliates would enjoy,” the suit stated.  Village Roadshow also claims to be the victim of “rampant piracy” facilitated by the streaming release, adding that Warner Bros. could have foreseen the potential consequences that “come by distributing this marquee picture on a streaming platform on the same day as its theatrical release,” and moved forward with plans anyway.  The fourth “Matrix” installment starring Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss grossed a paltry $10.7 million during its opening weekend — a fraction of what the preceding trilogy achieved, despite showing in more theaters globally than ever before.
*******The movie wasn’t that good, either, but that’s not the point!!
*****Streaming these movies before they get a chance in the theaters is gonna kill the entire business!! (our opinion)
*******The only smart people in the movie biz are the accountants!!!

Life-Sized Doll Mistaken For Dead Body

A life-sized doll on a Georgia trail in a national forest was mistaken for a “deceased female.”  Jones County Sheriff’s office deputies initially responded to what was mistakenly “believed to be a body located on a trail in Hitchiti National Forest,” according to a Facebook post from the office.  Upon arrival on the scene Thursday, “deputies observed what appeared to be the body of a deceased female wearing white socks,” the post read. “Our crack team of investigators arrived on scene, along with Deputy Matthew Dennis, who quickly recognized the body to actually be a life-sized doll, complete with accessories,” and a model number.  The sheriff’s office also said in the post that the doll is “now named Selena, is a little under the weather, but she has been having a nice day and is expected to make a full recovery.”  “In all seriousness, thank God for small blessings in that this just turned out to be a case of littering,” the post added. “If you know Selena or are responsible for her whereabouts, rest assured no DNA was collected and you are safe. But in the future, please make sure to dispose of your items in a responsible way.”  See the pics HERE.

Marvin Gaye Singer Helping Monkeys To “Get It On!”

A British zoo aiming to bolster its population of endangered monkeys hired a Marvin Gaye impersonator to visit the enclosure and croon love songs.  The Trentham Monkey Forest in Stafford, England, said David Largie, an experienced Marvin Gaye impersonator, performed selections from the soul legend’s catalog including “Let’s Get It On” and “Sexual Healing” inside the Barbary macaque habitat.  “We thought it could be a creative way to encourage our females to show a little affection to males that might not have been so lucky in love,” Park Director Matt Lovatt said on the zoo’s website. “Females in season mate with several males so paternity among our furry residents is never known. Each birth is vital to the species with Barbary macaques being classed as endangered.”  Lovatt said zookeepers expect to discover whether the visit had any effect on the monkeys when birthing season arrives in late spring or early summer.  See the video HERE.
****The girls don’t wanna play with macaques???
******Why don’t they try “Shock the Monkey” by Peter Gabriel???

Betty White Honored With Snow Plow

Betty White has been immortalized in a rather unusual fashion for a Hollywood icon.  While very befitting for a person with a last name like White, the longtime beloved TV star, who died on New Year’s Eve just two weeks shy of her 100th birthday, had a snowplow named after her in her “adopted” home state of Minnesota.  The new plow is affectionately dubbed “Betty Whiteout.”  Weeks ago, the Minnesota Department of Transportation put out a call for residents to vote for their favorite nicknames for eight new, bright orange snowplows that recently joined the fleet. It was part of the state’s “Name A Snowplow” contest.  The ballots were cast, and the winning names were unveiled last week.  The moniker “Betty Whiteout” cleared a path to victory along with seven other runaway favorites:

  1. Ctrl Salt Delete
  2. The Big Leplowski
  3. Plowasaurus Rex
  4. Scoop Dogg
  5. Blizzard of Oz
  6. No More Mr. Ice Guy

Couple Receives Huge Electric Bill

Hawaii Electric Company (HECO) shocked a couple with a bill for over $18,000 for streetlights.  Desha-Ann and her husband Rashaan Kealoha, who live in Waianac, Oahu, have an unpaid balance of more than $18,000, including an outstanding balance of $17,860.09, representing years of unpaid invoices, according to the HECO letter recently sent to them, obtained by KHON2.  “I was shocked, overwhelmed and confused, but still remained hopeful that there is some solution to this,” Desha-Ann Kealoha told KHON2. “My husband has a colorful vocabulary — he was upset.”  She added that prior to receiving the letter her neighbors had called HECO to repair a streetlight when it went out and the company told them they couldn’t repair it because it was a private road.  Since June 2020, HECO has been reviewing streetlight accounts for streets located on Oahu and found “several of these accounts did not have an existing customer,” the letter to the couple, dated Jan. 27, said.  The electric company said in the letter it believed that the street, Halemaluhia Place, which the couple lives on, was dedicated to the city and county of Honolulu, but in November 2020 correspondence, the city denied the street was dedicated to the city.  HECO added that upon further investigation, it “recently learned” that they own the street.  “Because you own the street upon which the streetlights are located, Hawaii Electric believes that you are responsible for the payment of electric energy supplied to these streetlights,” the letter said.
*********This is the kind of stuff that little bureaucrats love!! “Gotcha!!!”
*****Rule of thumb: if you can’t turn it off, then you shouldn’t have to pay for the electricity to run it!!
