Piers Morgan Attacks Sexy Liz Hurley

Piers Morgan took shots at Elizabeth Hurley after the model shared a racy topless photo of herself on Monday night.  He questioned “what she was doing” on Tuesday’s “Good Morning Britain” after the pic, featuring her wearing only a fluffy coat and a white bikini bottom in the snow, went viral.  “How could I resist?” Hurley captioned the pic.  Morgan’s commentary went live on Tuesday, U.K.’s DailyMail reported.   Morgan’s co-host Susanna Reid defended her, saying she looked “fabulous,” and pointing out Morgan was “thirsty.” However, Morgan insisted the photo was inappropriate and demanded that Hurley “put clothes on.”  “Yeah, she looks fabulous, but what are you doing Liz?” said Morgan. “A bit of snow and you get your kit off. And who took the pictures? Your 19-year-old son, you said, took the pictures? Isn’t that creepy? What is all this! It’s what we call in the business ‘thirsty and creepy.’” “You can’t accuse other people of being thirsty when you’re on national television and you have at least two columns and you’re on every single podcast,” Reid pointed out.  “You can think two things when you look at it,” Morgan responded. “One, she looks great. Which she does. But also, 55? Getting your 19-year-old son to take pictures of you stripping off in the snow?”

Fans are finally getting a “Tool Time” reunion, though it’s a little different this time around.  Former “Home Improvement” stars Tim Allen and Richard Karn are teaming up once again for History Channel’s latest competition series, “Assembly Required” — and the History Channel just gave viewers the first glimpse into the long-awaited reunion.  The History Channel unveiled the duo’s reunion via Twitter on Monday, sharing a short clip of Allen, 67, and Karn working together again in a familiar workspace.  “Ho ho ho. Translation: I’m back in the shop,” Allen proclaims, harkening back to his signature grunts from the beloved 1990s sitcom.  “We still got it man, at least I do,” Allen teases before Karn replies: “You got something.”  Serving as hosts and executive producers of the show, Allen and Karn are joined by DIY expert April Wilkerson as they challenge contestants to “breathe new life into everyday household items in desperate need of fixing,” per the History Channel’s description.  “Assembly Required” is slated to premiere Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 10 p.m. EST on the History Channel.

Lori Loughlin’s Husband Denied Early Release

Fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli’s request to serve the remaining three months of his prison term in the college admissions bribery scheme at home was denied Tuesday by a federal judge.  He argued he should be released to home confinement for the rest of his five-month sentence because he spent eight weeks under “extreme” conditions in solitary confinement due to the coronavirus pandemic after reporting to prison in November.  But U.S. District Judge Nathaniel Gorton said Giannulli failed to demonstrate an “’extraordinary and compelling’ reason warranting his release,” though he noted that the quarantine was “longer than anticipated.”  Giannulli, who reported to prison on Nov. 19, believed he would only be held in quarantine for a short time before testing negative for the coronavirus, his lawyers said in court documents. Instead, he spent 56 days isolated in a small cell at California’s USP Lompoc before being transferred to a minimum security camp on Jan. 13, they said.  He is scheduled to be released on April 17. His wife, “Full House” star Lori Loughlin, was released last month after spending two months behind bars at a federal lockup in Dublin, California.

JLo Shoots Down Botox Rumors Again

Jennifer Lopez is setting the record straight about her famous face.  Earlier this month she hit back at an Instagram critic who accused her of “definitely [having] Botox. And tons of it,” replying, “LOL that’s just my face!!! For the 500 millionth time…I have never done Botox or any injectables or surgery!!”  She doubled down in a recent interview with People. “I don’t judge anybody. If you want to do Botox and injectables, that’s fine! But I don’t want people lying on me and saying, ‘Oh, she’s trying to make believe that this stuff works,’” Lopez said.  “No, I’m telling you what I do that works! Please don’t call me a liar. I don’t have to lie about things. I’ve been pretty honest about my whole life.”  She said, “If I had, I would say, ‘Yeah, you’re right,’ but I don’t want people going, ‘Stop lying, you’re doing this, you’re doing that,’ when that’s just not true. I just felt it had to be set straight, but in a loving way. And one of my big beauty secrets is that I try to be kind to others and lift up other women. I think that that is important for us to do for each other instead of trying to tear people down.”  Lopez previously revealed that early in her career, an ex-boyfriend did urge her to give Botox a try.  “[His dermatologist] said, ‘Did you know you have a little line right here? We should start Botox.’ I mean, I had to be 23 years old, right? And I was like, ‘I’m going to pass,’” Lopez told editors during a Zoom call to discuss her new beauty brand.

Vanessa Bryant Posts Letter From Daughter’s Friend

Vanessa Bryant posted a touching letter she received from her daughter Gianna’s friend one year after the 13-year-old’s tragic death.  Taking to Instagram on Tuesday — the one-year anniversary of Gianna and Kobe Bryant’s deaths in a helicopter crash — Vanessa shared the full text of the note, which contained sweet memories and heartbreaking revelations, from Gigi’s pal Aubrey Callaghan.  “You have probably heard this, but if I ever become a mom, I hope my daughter turns out exactly as yours did,” Callaghan wrote. “She was kind, caring and endlessly polite.”  She also wrote, “I hope that in the midst of your intense sadness you catch a glimpse of joy in who the daughter you created and raised was. You did it right Mrs. Bryant, and we are all eternally grateful to you.”  Vanessa thanked her daughter’s friend for the kind words, captioning her post: “Today I received this sweet letter from one of Gianna’s best friends, Aubrey. I love you Aubz (as my Gigi would call you). Thank you so much for beautifully sharing some of your memories of my Gigi with me and allowing me to share them here on my ig.”

Stars Memorable Movie Make-out Sessions!-(Star)

Hugh Grant & Renee Zellweger

He’s notoriously tight-lipped about his offscreen love life, but Hugh, 60, isn’t so hush-hush when it comes to his leading ladies.  The Undoing star, who has puckered up with a string of Hollywood A-listers, revealed that his Bridget Jones’s Diary costar gets a high grade in the kissing department.  Renee, 51, is a “top snogger,” raved Hugh, who wasn’t nearly as crazy about smooching his Notting Hill love interest, Julia Roberts.  “It’s a big mouth,” he joked.  “I was aware of a faint echo when I was kissing her.”

Long before he won an Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club, Matthew scored a trophy for Little Mr. Texas 1977…..or so he believed.  “I found [the] photograph and then something caught my eye.  I zoomed in on it and it said runner-up!” the actor revealed.  At least he still has his Academy Award.

Armie’s House of Horrors-(In Touch)

Things just went from bad to worse for “cannibal” Armie Hammer.  The actor, whose alleged explicit DMs to various women have leaked on the Internet, not only has bowed out of the romantic adventure film Shotgun Wedding starring Jennifer Lopez, but he’s been forced to slash the price of the $5.8 million LA home he owns with estranged wife Elizabeth Chambers by $800,000.  “It’s no surprise people aren’t rushing to make an offer.  He’s knee-deep in a scandal, and who knows what went on in that house,” a source says.

Tom Brady Rookie Card Sells Big

An autographed Tom Brady rookie card rated in “virtually perfect” condition was auctioned for a staggering $555,988.  The bidding for the 2000 Playoff Contenders card, which featured Brady in his rookie season with the New England Patriots, ended on eBay Monday with a final bid of $555,988.  The card, listed by PWCC Marketplace, was rated by PSA Authentication and Grading Services as “Gem Mint,” a designation that means the card has been kept in “virtually perfect” condition.  PWCC Marketplace’s description said the card is “what we personally believe to be the single most important modern football card ever produced.”  “The fragile gold foil ticket truly excites as it possesses no visual scuffs, scratches, or imperfections. All four corners are uniformly untouched with the fragile periphery being entirely clean; rare as this card is typically plagued by edge chipping. Furthermore, one of the most difficult aspects of this card, the autograph is seemingly pristine and brilliantly penned in black ink,” the description read.

A Texas zoo is offering jilted lovers the chance to get some Valentine’s Day revenge by naming a cockroach or a rat after their exes before it is fed to a larger animal.  The San Antonio Zoo said scorned lovers can pay $5 to have a cockroach named after their ex before it is served to a larger zoo animal as a meal.  The zoo said someone looking to make a stronger statement can pay $25 to name a pre-frozen rat for their former lover before it is fed to a snake.  “You can also symbolically purchase a herbivore option and we will feed it to one of our mammals,” the zoo said.

Wedding Ring Found In Septic Tank

A New Hampshire septic company found a wedding ring while cleaning out a truck and was able to return the beloved item to its relieved owner.  Rowell’s Services, based in Northfield, said employees were cleaning out a truck earlier in January when they found a wedding ring that had somehow ended up among the sewage. Officials said the wedding ring was the second such discovery in the past four years.  The ring ended up the subject of a WMUR-TV news broadcast, which came to the attention of Andrew Wu, a surgeon at Catholic Medical Center, whose wedding ring went missing in December.  Rowell’s Services co-owner Mandie Hagan had the ring cleaned and shined before returning it to Wu.  Wu said he now has a $5 ring that he wears to work to keep the more expensive band safe.

The Rudest Things You Can Do When Emailing

Huffington Post

Writing Sloppily

“Proofread every message before you send it out,” advised Patricia Rossi, a civility expert, keynote speaker and author of “Everyday Etiquette.” “If spelling and grammar mistakes show up in your communication, the other person might get the impression that you are rushed, do not pay attention to detail or have a careless attitude. If mistakes occur just once (maybe because you are in a rush) it might be overlooked, but if it happens on a regular basis, you can be sure that you will lose credibility and trust. Your competence might be seriously questioned.”

Misspelling the recipient’s name comes off as inconsiderate, and even simple typos or punctuation errors can change the meaning and tone of an email.

“Thank goodness for spell check and grammar check,” said life etiquette expert Juliet Mitchell, aka Ms. J. “Use them. One time I typed ‘hello’ without the ‘o.’ Enough said.”

Make sure to include all the information the recipient might need to make responding easier. This may include specific deadlines, addresses and alternate ways to contact you.

Rambling On And On

“In general, etiquette is all about being mindful of other people ― their feelings, their time and their space― and this definitely doesn’t change when it comes to writing an email,” said Nick Leighton, an etiquette expert and co-host of the “Were you raised by wolves?” podcast. “Your communications should always be respectful, clear, on topic and concise.”

People are busy during the workday so be considerate of their time. Instead of rambling on and on in an email, get to the point you want to convey and address the topic quickly.

Personal emails, on the other hand, offer the opportunity to be more long-winded.

“When you’re talking to a friend or relative, this is your chance to use your language to tell your story, express your emotions and connect ― especially during the pandemic when our social interactions are limited,” said Jodi R.R. Smith, president of Mannersmith Etiquette Consulting.

Hitting ‘Reply All’ Unnecessarily

We’ve all been on email threads that painfully drag on with one unnecessary reply after another. Show consideration for people’s time by being thoughtful with your use of the “reply all” function. Ask yourself if everyone on the chain needs to be copied on your response.

Don’t muddy the conversation with side chats, needless corrections or rebukes of a colleague or subordinate in front of everyone. If you disagree with something, you can address it with the person separately.

“This is particularly important if you have a potentially uncomfortable message,” Gottsman noted. “If it is serious, pick up the phone instead or shoot them an email requesting a conversation.”

Gossiping About Colleagues

“As a quick glance of Twitter easily proves, it’s very easy to screen-grab and share an email or Slack conversation with others, so don’t write anything you wouldn’t want blown up on a billboard in Times Square, especially if it’s gossip about someone you work with,” Leighton emphasized.

Criticizing colleagues in writing is both rude and unwise for your professional future. Email can be carelessly forwarded to the wrong recipient. Even if you feeling like you’re being cautious, remember that your employer can access your work email account and that your company may be vulnerable to hackers.

“Don’t think for a second that your work email is private,” Smith warned. “It’s all owned by your employer.”

Lashing Out In The Heat Of The Moment

The ease with which someone can forward, screenshot, or copy and paste an email should also be top of the mind when you’re about to get heated in a correspondence. You probably don’t want what you say in a negative emotional state to be documented, so think twice about what you write.

“If you are ‘feeling some kind of way,’ you should wait, review, revise if necessary and then decide whether to send … or not,” Mitchell recommended.

Consider the culture of your particular workplace when drafting communications.

“Once it’s out there, it’s out there,” noted Smith, who advised typing your message in a separate document so that you aren’t tempted to hit send before you’ve given yourself time to cool down.

Crossing Professional Boundaries

When sending a work email, consider your relationship with the recipient and the boundaries of your work life. Using swear words or including unprofessional content like NSFW gifs or information about your romantic life are not the ingredients for success.

“Boundaries shift as we may become friends with people we meet at work, but we need to be able to change out our point of view based on who we’re talking to,” Smith said. “So when we’re writing professional emails, we need to remember these are our colleagues and co-workers and not our friends. We have to match the mode of communication with the method and message we’re trying to send.”

She noted that cultures vary from workplace to workplace, so try to get a sense of the norms and expectations where you are.

“If you work for a hip radio station, you may be calling people by their first name, using slang, sending emojis, gifs, swear words,” Smith said. “But if you’re in a law firm or conservative climate, that would not be OK.”

Pay attention to the way colleagues phrase things in emails, the length of their messages, the use of BCC or CC, the formality of tone, etc. You can also ask questions to better understand the culture.

“You need to be savvy enough to match your level of communication through to your email,” Smith added.

Being Disrespectful Of Feelings

Many different options for communication mean many opportunities for miscommunication, Rossi noted. “Let’s also not forget that others can’t see our body language and hear our tone of voice. Therefore, try to be always positive, constructive, upbeat, kind and helpful when interacting with others online.”

Don’t let being clear and direct keep you from being gracious and respectful as well. For instance, Mitchell advised using the person’s name.

“Starting off an email with a request, demand or information can sound curt and thoughtless,” she said. “It only takes 2-3 seconds to type ‘Caroline’ or ‘Hi Caroline.’ The greeting should reflect the nature of your relationship with the person ― ‘Hello,’ ‘Hi,’ ‘Dear’ or name.”

If the message is serious, uncomfortable or easy to misconstrue, consider taking it off email and speaking by phone or arranging a meeting instead.

“Don’t use any electronics to avoid a conversation,” Smith cautioned. “If you have a concern or are angry, pick up the phone and call them. Don’t try to have it play out in a passive-aggressive manner through email.”

Misusing Emojis

“In general, it’s best to avoid emojis in professional correspondence,” Leighton said. “Sometimes people feel the need to add emojis in order to clarify the tone with which they said something and avoid a misunderstanding, especially when something is intended to be a joke, sarcastic or ironic, but it’d be better to just revise whatever it is you want to say so that the emoji isn’t necessary in the first place.”

For example, he suggested it would be more professional to simply write, “Hey, everyone, please clean and put away your dishes after use” ― rather than “Hey, everyone … did anyone leave dirty dishes in the sink? Our maid is off-duty today.”

That’s not to say that emojis are totally off-limits. But try not to overdo them and aim to match the practices of your work environment, industry or email recipient.

“Some people scoff about sending emojis,” Mitchell said. “Sometimes an emoji conveys the sentiment quite well. Just keep it in perspective.”

Not Giving Credit Where Credit Is Due

Many companies foster an environment where teammates and managers are expected to shout out individuals for their contributions, especially in email. A simple phrase like “With thanks to Susan” or “Shout-out to Mike” can go a long way and remove any sense that you’re taking credit for or failing to appreciate a colleague or subordinate’s work.

“I’m a big fan of giving credit where credit is due,” Smith said. She did note, however, that some companies emphasize promoting the team over the individual. Again, it’s best to suss out the culture you’re dealing with and act accordingly.
