Ozark Returning For Final Season
Crime drama series Ozark will return for a fourth and final season. Netflix confirmed Tuesday that it renewed the series for Season 4. The season will consist of an expanded 14 episodes. “They’re going to go out with a bang,” Netflix tweeted. “Ozark will be back with an expanded 14-episode final season.” Ozark stars Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, Julia Garner, Sofia Hublitz and Skylar Gaertner. The series follows Marty (Bateman) and Wendy Byrde (Linney), a couple who relocate their family to the Ozarks after Marty’s money laundering scheme goes wrong. Ozark’s first three seasons had 10 episodes each. Season 4 will be split into two parts consisting of seven episodes each. Ozark has received 14 Emmy nominations since its premiere in 2017.

Carl Reiner Dies
Comedian and The Dick Van Dyke Show creator Carl Reiner has died at age 98. Reiner’s son Rob Reiner confirmed in a tweet Tuesday that Reiner, a veteran actor, comedian, writer, producer and director, died Monday evening. “Last night my dad passed away. As I write this my heart is hurting. He was my guiding light,” Rob Reiner wrote. TMZ said Reiner died at his Beverly Hills home with his family by his side. Reiner’s assistant, Judy Nagy, told Variety that Reiner died of natural causes. Reiner was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Estelle Reiner, who died in 2008. He is survived by Rob Reiner and two other children, daughter Annie Reiner and son Lucas Reiner.

Members of the royal family voiced concerns to Prince Harry over his relationship with Meghan Markle shortly after the pair began dating, a new book claims. In “Royals at War: The Untold Story of Harry and Meghan’s Shocking Split with the House of Windsor,” released on Tuesday, investigative journalists Dylan Howard and Andy Tillett reveal that Harry’s sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, tried to persuade the now-Duke of Sussex to proceed with caution when it came to wooing Los Angeles, Calif. native Meghan. “[Kate] gently reminded him that he was dating someone with a completely different life, past, and career and it would take time, care and attention for them to integrate,” the authors write. Insiders also claim in the book that Harry’s older brother, Prince William, issued a similar warning, asking Harry, “Is she the right one?” shortly after being introduced to Markle. But according to the authors, Harry’s loved ones had good intent — one thing he has struggled to realize. “The rifts that eventually opened up in the Royal family after Meghan arrived could have been avoided if Harry was able to empathize and take his brother’s concerns in the spirit they were intended,” the authors write, according to the outlet. Royal aides also recalled their impressions of Markle to the authors, some of whom spoke of her positive attributes. One aide, who remains anonymous in the book, spoke highly of Markle’s intelligence in comparison to the senior royals. “All of their IQs put together would not equal hers,” the aide said.

Ryan Seacrest and Shayna Taylor are once again going their separate ways — only this time the split is said to be permanent. “Ryan and Shayna decided to end their romantic relationship amicably some time ago,” a representative for Seacrest told People magazine on Monday. “They remain good friends, each other’s biggest supporters and will always cherish their time together as a couple.” He has also reportedly moved on and has since been dating a woman he’s currently on vacation with in Mexico, all but marking an end to the on-again, off-again romance with Taylor. They kicked off their relationship back in 2013 and broke up briefly in 2014. According to People, the couple moved in together in May 2017, but two years later, the pair would again call it quits although they vowed to remain friends.

Johnny Depp violated a UK court order by failing to disclose damning text messages that appeared to show him ordering drugs, a judge has ruled. His legal team was ordered to hand over all the documents submitted in his US libel case against ex-wife Amber Heard as part of a separate UK lawsuit, this time against The Sun newspaper. But Depp failed to disclose a series of text messages with an assistant showing that he tried to buy “MDMA and other narcotics” while he was in Australia with Heard in 2015, London’s High Court ruled. “Need more whitey stuff ASAP brotherman … and the e-business!!! Please I’m in a bad bad shape,” he wrote in one message that was included in court documents, according to The Guardian. In another, he told the assistant, “We should have more happy pills!!!?? Peacock Chase
Police in New York ended up in an unusual chase when a peacock escaped from the Prospect Park Zoo and went for a run through Brooklyn. The New York Police Department said it received a 911 call just before 6 a.m. Monday from a witness who reported a peacock running loose near Flatbush Avenue and Empire Boulevard. Witnesses said the bird ran loose through traffic for about 15 minutes before being surrounded by police. The officers attempted to guide the peacock back to the sidewalk, but the bird took flight and vaulted a fence back into the zoo. The zoo has been closed since March amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Woman Finds Snake In Laundry Room
Authorities in Ohio said a team of wild animal specialists responded to a home where a woman found a large snake perched on a shelf above the washer in her laundry room. The Belmont County Sheriff’s Office said Sgt. Tom DeVaul of the Dangerous Wild Animal Response Team responded to a Flushing home on a report of a 4-foot snake spotted by a resident on her laundry shelf. The sheriff’s office said the snake attempted to hide from DeVaul, who couldn’t get the reptile to expose for more than an inch of its head at a time. DeVaul called for backup from a pair of DWART teammates, and the trio were able to extract the serpent, identified as a non-venomous rat snake.

Bass Pro Swimmer Arrested
A Louisiana man seen in a viral video swimming inside an aquarium at a Bass Pro Shop store has been arrested, according to reports. Kevin Wise, of Slidell, was charged with simple criminal damage to property, a misdemeanor, the Bossier City Police Department said. The suspect went in the tank in Bossier City as part of a TikTok stunt, KSLA-TV of Shreveport reported. “I said that if I got 2,000 likes I would jump in the tank,” Wise said, according to the station. “I got way more than that and didn’t want to be a liar.” The video, posted by Treasure McGraw, allegedly showed Wise swimming in the store’s fish tank, climbing out, and then fleeing the store, Shreveport’s KTAL-TV reported. Wise was arrested after subsequently returning to the store, Bossier City police said. The store determined that it would incur costs for emptying and cleaning the 13,000-gallon tank following the alleged stunt, prompting the filing of a complaint with the police.

Topless Woman Saves Family
A 28-year-old British woman saved two sisters and a cousin from drowning in the water off a naturist beach in Cornwall — while topless, according to a report. Jessica Layton, an actor and singer, told Cornwall Live: “I was topless in the sea when I saw two young women struggling to swim near rocks. Another member of the family ran in to help them and she started struggling, too.” “I swam towards them and thought ‘oh s–t’ as I realized how strong the rip current was,” she continued. “I was struggling myself and they were panicking, which wasn’t ideal in a situation like that.” She did all she could to save them in the water at Pedn Vounder, notorious for rip currents caused by incoming tides, regardless of the fact that she has no training as a lifeguard. “I was going to tell them to float, which is the best thing you can do in a rip current, but they were panicking so much it wouldn’t have worked,” she explained. “They were all holding hands, so I grabbed one of their hands and pulled them all on to the beach.” The family was very grateful for her service. “It’s lucky I was there — it’s really weird thinking it happened, I can’t quite grasp it,” she added. Since the heroic rescue, she has received praise — which also pokes fun at her lack of attire. One of her friends said: “Not all heroes wear capes, some of them don’t even wear bikini tops.”

Here’s When Companies In America Are Planning To Reopen Their Offices

Some are using the summer to slowly recall employees.
IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig said in June that “thousands of employees have returned to facilities in seven states, and four more states and Puerto Rico will reopen on June 29. The IRS continues to focus on nonportable work and will reopen facilities in remaining states on July 13.”
The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s reopening procedure started June 15, permitting 25% occupancy of buildings and “social distancing protocols of at least 6 feet,” according to internal documents obtained by CNN.
Goldman Sachs confirmed to HuffPost that a small number of employees reported back to offices in New York, Jersey City, Dallas and Salt Lake City beginning Monday, June 22; Morgan Stanley employees’ return to U.S. offices will be sometime after the the July 4 weekend.
Citigroup CEO Michael Corbat told Bloomberg in an interview in late May that he hopes to return about 5% of staff to Citigroup’s main building in Manhattan in July or August.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai said in a blog post that starting July 6, “assuming external conditions allow, we’ll start to open more buildings in more cities,” but did not specify which. “This will give Googlers who need to come back to the office—or, capacity permitting, who want to come back—the opportunity to return.”
Accounting firm KPMG told HuffPost that none of its 100-plus offices in the U.S. will open earlier than mid-July. When offices do reopen, “re-entry will be slow and staged,” a KPMG spokesperson said. “Our expectation is that, for the near future, most of our people will continue working from home.“
Some are planning to go back in fall — or waiting until then to decide.
Verizon Media, HuffPost’s parent company, said that U.S. employees will be working from home through at least September. “As of now, most of Verizon Media’s employees in the U.S. will remain in a work from home situation through the end of September. We are currently assessing what we will do after that time, and expect to have a decision about what will happen after September 30th,” a Verizon Media spokesperson said.
The professional services firm PWC told HuffPost that for its U.S. offices, “We have determined that we will not open our offices until after Labor Day, and we may choose to push that date back based on the available data and recommendations coming from the CDC.”
A majority of colleges and universities are still planning to reopen campuses for in-person learning in the fall. Out of 1,030 colleges tracked by the Chronicle of Higher Education, 64% said they are planning for in-person courses in the fall, including the University System of Georgia, the University of Arizona and Ohio University.
Sixteen percent of colleges, including the University of Florida and the University of Texas at Austin, said they were proposing a mix of online and in-person classes.
Amazon said employees in roles that allow them to work effectively from home “are welcome to do so until at least October 2.“ (The company has been criticized for forcing its warehouse workers to do their jobs in crowded, unsafe conditions.)
Others plan to work remotely until at least next year, and a select few are making remote work permanent.
Some organizations are holding out until 2021 to make decisions about recalling the majority of staff. About one-third of businesses in the SHRM survey said they would allow employees to work from home through the rest of 2020.
The New York Times said that “no employee will be required to return before January if they do not feel comfortable doing so,” according to an email sent to staff.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that anyone who can work from home is welcome to do so at least through 2020,” and that in 10 years, he expects 50% of his company’s workforce to be remote.
CNN President Jeff Zucker told staff in a late May memo, “We expect that the majority of you will not be able to return to our offices this calendar year.”
Richard Barton, CEO of real estate listings platform Zillow, said in April that staff can work from anywhere through the end of 2020. “My personal opinions about WFH have been turned upside down over the past 2 months,” he said in a tweet.
Beyond just this year, some companies are using the coronavirus pandemic to make their company remote-first for good:
Slack said it is extending its office reopening date beyond September and does not have a date for when offices will reopen for limited use. In the meantime, most of its employees can now work from home permanently.
Shopify CEO Tobi Lutke said offices will be closed until 2021 and after that, most employees will be remote in a permanent capacity.
Twitter announced in May that most employees can now work from home forever.
