JLo Planned On Name Change Years Ago

Jennifer Lopez has been planning to change her name to “Jennifer Lynn Affleck” since 2003.  Lopez and Affleck obtained a marriage license in Nevada on Saturday. They had a short and sweet marriage ceremony at the A Little White Wedding Chapel around midnight. The two shared pizza and diet coke on the way back to Los Angeles following the nuptials.  She has been planning on changing her last name to “Affleck” since the first time she was engaged to be married to Ben. She spoke about it in a resurfaced interview from 2003 – the year the two were originally set to be married.   “What do you think my name will be?” Lopez asked in the interview before adding, “Am I going to change it professionally, you mean?”  “When love is real, the only thing that matters in marriage is one another and the promise we make to love, care, understand, be patient, loving and good to one another,” Lopez wrote in her newsletter, where she announced the marriage on Sunday.  “We had that. And so much more. Best night of our lives.”  Lopez and Affleck were previously engaged in 2003.

Chris Evans Is Looking For His Special Someone

Chris Evans recently opened up about his struggle to find love in Hollywood, claiming he has been extra focused recently on finding his special someone.  In his new film, Netflix’s “The Gray Man,” he plays an assassin obsessively hunting down Ryan Gosling’s character, who is on the run after uncovering CIA secrets.  While promoting the movie, Evans was asked if there is anything in his life that he is searching for as obsessively as his character, and he gave an interesting answer.  “The answer would be that maybe [I’m] laser-focused on finding a partner, you know, someone that you want to live with,” Evans told Shondaland. “Maybe it’s about trying to find someone that you’re looking to spend your life with. Yes, so maybe it’s that.”  The “Avengers: Infinity War” star also spoke about how difficult it is to find love in today’s world, especially in Hollywood. “I mean, look – I love what I do. It’s great; I pour all of myself into it. But in terms of – even this industry is full of pockets of doubt, hesitation and recalibration in terms of really trying to find someone that you really can pour all of yourself into,” Evans said.

Ozzy Using A Cane After Surgery

Ozzy Osbourne was spotted walking with a cane Sunday after undergoing a “life-altering” surgery.  He was joined by his wife, Sharon Osbourne, and their children Kelly Osbourne and Jack Osbourne for a family gathering at Jack’s Los Angeles home.  Ozzy, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019, appeared to rely heavily on the walking stick, which featured a gold handle.  After wrapping up his conversation with Jack and Kelly, he received help getting into a large black Range Rover.  He was discharged from a Los Angeles hospital last month after undergoing what Sharon described as “a major operation” that would “determine the rest of his life.”  Along with Parkinson’s and a bout with COVID-19, Ozzy has been dealing with the ramifications of a 2003 quad biking accident.  He sustained neck injuries, which were later exacerbated by a fall in 2019 that required 15 screws to be inserted into his back.  “I am now home from the hospital recuperating comfortably,” the musician wrote on Instagram after undergoing the procedure in June, which involved removing and realigning pins in his neck and back.
*******Forget the cane… he should be using a BAT!!!!

Alec Baldwin Explains His Large Family

Alec Baldwin is setting the record straight on “why” he and his pregnant wife, Hilaria Baldwin, have such a large family.  “People comment about how many children we have and ask why,” he captioned an Instagram video Sunday. “This is why,” he continued. “The thing in this life that matters most to me are these people.” In the social media post, Hilaria handed their youngest two children bottles of milk after dressing Eduardo and Lucia, both 1, in matching puppy onesies.  The toddlers’ outfits were complete with floppy ears and a tail.  “Some kids want to be superheroes and royals, my babies want to be puppies … as they are animal super fans,” Hilaria wrote on her own account. “They dressed up last night.”  They also share Carmen, 8, Rafael, 7, Leonardo, 5, and Romeo, 4. In March, they announced that they have a baby girl on the way.  “After many ups and downs over the past few years, we have an exciting up and a huge surprise: another Baldwinito is coming this fall,” Hilaria captioned her Instagram announcement video.  “We were pretty sure our family was complete, and we’re beyond happy with this surprise,” she continued at the time. “Our new baby is a very bright spot in our lives.” The following month, Alec explained why they keep expanding their family.  “People ask why,” the New York native captioned an Instagram video of Lucia. “This is why. Being a parent is the ultimate journey.”

Chelsea Handler and Jo Koy Break Up

Chelsea Handler revealed that she parted ways with boyfriend Jo Koy ahead of their one-year anniversary.  Handler, 47, shared a pre-recorded video to Instagram of her and Koy, 51, in which they talk about what they’ve learned from their relationship.  “In anticipation of celebrating our first year together, Jo and I recorded this video early, but as many of you have noticed, it is with a heavy heart to announce that we have decided together that it is best for us to take a break from our relationship right now,” she captioned the clip.  “This man blew my heart open with love and because of him, my life experience has changed forever. To be loved and adored by @jokoy has been one of the greatest gifts of my life,” Handler continued.  She said Koy “renewed” her faith in men, adding that she has “never been more optimistic for the future.” Handler then directed her heartfelt message to Koy.  “Jo- you blew my creativity open, my lust for working hard again, being on the road again, and you reminded me who I was and always have been, and my feet have never been more firmly planted in the ground,” she said.  They started out as friends after meeting and working together on her talk show, but it took her time to realize romantic feelings were involved.  Handler previously dated rapper 50 Cent, businessman André Balazs and chef Bobby Flay. Koy, meanwhile, shares son Joseph Herbert Jr. with ex-wife Angie King.

Arnold Accused Of Farting Pranks

Arnold Schwarzenegger is being accused of farting on set.  According to his co-star, Miriam Margolyes, he deliberately farted in her face while filming the 1999 horror movie “End of Days.”  She talked about the incident on the latest installment of the “I’ve Got News for You” podcast — and she also claimed Schwarzenegger “was actually quite rude” during the film’s shoot.  She dropped the bombshell allegation when the host asked her to reveal her least favorite co-star of all time.  “[I] didn’t care for him; he’s a bit too full of himself,” Margolyes said about him. “He farted in my face. Now, I fart, of course I do – but I don’t fart in people’s faces. He did it deliberately, right in my face.”  She then went on to describe the biblical action flick: “I was playing Satan’s sister, and he was killing me, so he had me in a position where I couldn’t escape and lying on the floor. And he just farted.”  “It wasn’t on film, it was in one of the pauses, but I haven’t forgiven him for it,” the “Mulan” star said.

Man Sues Bass Pro Over Socks

A Missouri man says in a class-action lawsuit against Bass Pro that the outdoor outfitter is refusing to honor its lifetime warranty on socks.  Kent Slaughter of Springfield said that after years of exchanging his “Redhead Lifetime Guarantee All-Purpose Wool Socks” every time they wore out, the Springfield-based company changed its policy in 2021 before he tried to return four pairs of socks. Instead of getting another pair with a lifetime warranty, Slaughter said he was given socks that only carried a 60-day warranty, according to the Springfield News-Leader.  A Bass Pro representative said the company won’t comment on pending litigation.  The lawsuit said Bass Pro is misrepresenting the socks in its ads because it says they are “The last sock you’ll ever need to buy” because of the lifetime warranty.

Van Gogh Hidden Selfie In Painting

Conservators at the National Galleries of Scotland recently experienced quite a surprise after they X-rayed a painting by Vincent van Gogh. Hidden on the reverse side of the painting “Head of a Peasant Woman,” which Van Gogh completed in 1885, was a previously unknown self-portrait of the Dutch painter staring back at them.  The hidden self-portrait had been obscured by layers of glue and cardboard that had been attached to the back of the canvas; museum officials suspect the materials were applied sometime during the early 20th century to help protect the artwork for an upcoming exhibition, National Galleries representatives said in a statement.  “It was absolutely thrilling,” Lesley Stevenson, the museum’s senior paintings conservator, told The Guardian(opens in new tab) about the discovery. “We weren’t expecting much [of the] modest little painting” when they performed the scans, she said. But museum experts quickly revised their expectations when they looked at the X-rays. “We don’t see much of the peasant woman, but what we have is the lead white, the much heavier pigment [Van Gogh] used for his face, showing up after the X-ray goes through the cardboard.”

Sea Lions Chase Tourists Off The Beach

A visitor to a southern California beach captured video of beach-goers fleeing in a panic two sea lions appear to aggressively charge after them — but one expert said the animals may not have been concerned with the humans at all.  Charlianne Yeyna, who posted the now-viral video to TikTok, said the chase began when a woman attempted to take a photo of a sleeping sea lion at La Jolla Cove in San Diego.  “The sea lions were sleeping and were just massive on the beach and I was just watching them and this woman got really close to them, like 4 feet away, and was trying to take a photo of it up close, and it just woke up and started chasing everybody,” Yeyna told NBC San Diego.  The sea lions eventually returned to the water and swam off without causing any serious injuries.  A spokesperson for Sea World San Diego reviewed the footage and said the animals may not have been intentionally chasing the humans. The representative said the first sea lion may have simply been fleeing from the second.  See the video HERE.

When You Get To Your Airbnb, Do These 6 Things For Your Safety

HUFFINGTON POST

  1. Check for cameras.

“Ask the host if there are security cameras so there is full disclosure,” Nelson advised. “Hidden cameras are prohibited, but for your own privacy, you may want to do a scan inside the house to make sure you don’t unwillingly end up on camera.”

Airbnb specifically prohibits hidden cameras or other recording devices and requires hosts to disclose the presence of any such implements. Recording devices are also not permitted in private spaces like bedrooms and bathrooms, though they are allowed in common areas.

Vrbo doesn’t allow any sort of surveillance devices inside its properties, though hosts are allowed to place cameras outside the home, so long as their locations are shared with guests. Still, over the years, there have been several news stories about travelers discovering hidden cameras in their vacation rentals.

“They’re typically in areas where you would expect privacy,” said travel safety consultant Kevin Coffey. “Think smoke detectors in bedrooms, light fixtures in bathrooms, even alarm clocks next to beds.”

He emphasized these concealed recording device instances are rare and that many hosts simply install visible cameras in permitted areas due to the countless incidents of guests trashing rental properties during their stays. Still, if you’re concerned about hidden cameras, there are ways to check for them when you arrive.

“You can use a Wi-Fi checker,” Coffey said, noting that network-scanning apps like Fing can inform guests of any unknown devices that are connected to the Wi-Fi.

Keep an eye out for objects that appear to be altered or out of place, and if you have suspicions, consider draping a piece of clothing over them.

“Use a flashlight with the lights off to look for reflections off camera lenses,” Nelson suggested. “Peer into vents covers and other openings in the wall where a small camera could be hidden. Unscrew and inspect smoke alarms and other wall- or ceiling-mounted appliances.”

  1. Store your valuables safely.

“For the safety of your belongings, ask if the property has a safe,” Nelson suggested.

Items like your passport, electronics, jewelry and other valuables should go in the most secure location, and many rentals provide safe storage. Sometimes, you might have to bring your own padlock, which provides extra security as only you know the code.

“There are also portable safes you can travel with,” Coffey said. “They’re usually cloth with wire mesh sandwiched between two layers of canvas, and there’s a braided steel cable, so the only way for a thief to get into the bag would be to have bolt cutters.”

He recommended the brand Pacsafe, which has a variety of anti-theft items, including portable safes.

“If you don’t have a safe, gauge whether you should leave stuff lying around that can be seen through windows,” Coffey advised. “You don’t want important items to be visible.”

If you have a car parked outside, make sure to remove your belongings to avoid vehicle break-ins.

“You can also bring a camera to monitor your valuables as long as you remember to remove it by the time you check out,” said Cathy Pedrayes, a safety expert and author of “The Mom Friend Guide to Everyday Safety and Security.”

  1. Confirm the presence of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Fire safety is always a concern, but after three American tourists died from carbon monoxide poisoning at a resort in the Bahamas in May, travelers are on extra high alert for that silent killer as well.

“Check to ensure each floor of the rental has working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors,” Nelson advised.

Rental booking platforms like Airbnb allow hosts to note whether or not they have a smoke or CO detector on the property, but it’s worth checking that they’re on when you arrive.

“You can also purchase portable smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and take them with you when you travel,” Coffey added.

  1. Get the lay of the land.

“After I set my bags down at a rental, I just walk around the space and get the lay of the land,” Coffey said. “Try to see where all the doors are and test them out. So many people see a door but might not realize it’s bolted shut, so that’s not a way out in case of a fire.”

During your inspection, create a mental escape plan for emergencies. Look for the first aid kit and fire extinguisher. Coffey said he inspects the fire extinguisher to make sure it’s charged and functioning.

“Remember that when you’re in a house, there are a lot of points of entry that could be used to break in when you’re not around ― whereas a hotel room usually only has the one door,” he added. “Check your door and window locks to see how secure things are from a break-in standpoint.”

Consider the safety needs of your fellow travelers in mind as you scan the property. “If traveling with children, survey the area and look for glass or sharp objects, ensure that the TV is secure, if it is within reach,” Prout said.

Scope out the general area where you’re staying as well by walking around and looking at the map on your phone.

“You should be aware of local emergency resources ― police station, fire station, hospitals, pharmacies ― should there be an emergency during your stay,” Prout said.

  1. Set up your own alarms.

“If you’re staying in a street-level apartment or a place with lots of windows, consider if it makes sense for you to bring in additional door and window security devices,” Coffey said.

Ask your host or look for yourself to see if there are already alarms and outdoor sensor lights. Even if there are, you may still want extra protection.

Coffey noted that portable motion detectors are not particularly expensive and can alert you if someone is trying to break into a door or window. Similarly, portable locks can help keep your rental extra secure.

“Bring a small, portable door stop alarm,” Nelson echoed. “This one from Damsel in Defense is one of my favorites.”

  1. Turn on tracking.

When you’re traveling, it’s always a good idea to let loved ones know where you’ll be. You can text them the address of your rental when you check in and share your reservation confirmation.

Coffey suggested even going a step further.

“Turn on tracking for your loved ones so that they can see where exactly you are and know what’s going on,” he said, pointing to apps like Find My Friends. “You should do this especially if you’re a solo traveler.”

Pedrayes recommended having designated people you can call in case of an emergency.

“Before you arrive at a location, know your emergency numbers,” she said. “Is there Wi-Fi or cell service? Who can you call back home to help? Do you speak the language, if not, do you have a way to communicate in case of an emergency?”
