Carrie Underwood Releasing Christmas Album

Carrie Underwood will release her first Christmas album in September.  She shared a trailer for the holiday album, titled My Gift, on Tuesday.  “I realize we’re in the middle of a summer heatwave, but I couldn’t wait to tell you…. at long last, my very first Christmas album #MyGift is coming September 25!” she captioned the post. “So much love has gone into this and I cannot wait to share it with you!”  The trailer shows Underwood recording My Gift in the studio and taking part in the album cover photo shoot.  “This year, it was just kind of on my heart to do this Christmas album,” she says in the teaser. “I just felt like this was such a fitting time — kind of feel like it’s a more perfect time than ever to record an album like this.”  In a statement, Underwood said she’s had a period of “personal and spiritual reflection” amid the pandemic.  “For me, it’s more important than ever to focus on the true meaning of Christmas in a project like this,” she said. “Even though it has been a tough year for all of us, sometimes I feel like the greatest realizations can be inspired by the most difficult times, and make us more grateful for the things we do have and for what truly matters.”
********That’s deep! Which means we don’t understand it!!

Kanye West Bashes Kim’s Appearance In Playboy

Kanye West seemingly criticized his wife, Kim Kardashian, for posing nude for Playboy in 2007.  He took to Twitter Monday night for a bizarre rant that touched upon his marriage to the reality star and fashion mogul. West appeared to reach out to his mother-in-law, Kris Jenner, and implied that neither would return his calls following an emotional campaign rally in North Charleston, S.C. Sunday.  Although most of that thread has been deleted, West shared an image of himself with their four children, North, 7, Saint, 4, Chicago, 2, and Psalm, 1 that remains. In the caption, he wrote that his children “will never do playboy.”  While the tweets don’t directly mention his wife’s 2007 nude shoot with the magazine, since-deleted tweets further hint at his displeasure with the shoot Kardashian did seven years before they were married.  “I put my life on my God that Norths mom would never photograph her doing playboy and that’s on God,” he wrote in a now-deleted tweet. “I’m at the ranch … come and get me.”
*********Does “the ranch” mean “the mental hospital??”
******Dissing his wife’s Playboy appearance just cost Kanye a lot of male voters!

Haley Joel Osment Tried To Hide From Fame

At 32, Haley Joel Osment has opened up about trying to hide from the limelight after becoming a young star.  He admitted that after graduating from New York University in 2011, he played “a lot of bad guys,” possibly to push back against his childhood image.  Additionally, he says he grew a beard “to try to hide in public.”  “That didn’t really work at all,” he admitted.  While some child stars seem to fall victim to stereotypical ailments with fame, Osment says that’s not always the narrative. “… I think the percentage of people having a positive experience working as children is much higher than most people imagine,” he explained, noting that some “move on to something else that works for them,” and their stories are often unheard.  He said he has no trouble being asked about his past.  “I’m lucky to have a positive relationship with those periods that can sometimes be difficult for other people,” the actor said.

Gwyneth Paltrow Hires Daughter For Goop Shoot

Gwyneth Paltrow is socially distancing at home with her family while still managing to release new products, including the July Core Collection for her clothing line, G. Label.  Instead of an elaborate photoshoot, Paltrow enlisted 16-year-old daughter Apple Martin as a model and husband Brad Falchuk to snap some photos at their home.  They both wore denim, with Paltrow sporting bootcut jeans ($295) that she calls her “obsession” and Apple turning away from the camera in a mid-length pencil skirt ($325).  “We made both of these retro styles out of vintage-soft denim that’s got a bit of stretch but still holds you in. The jeans are ’90s, the skirt is straight out of the ’70s, and the looks are as enduring as it gets,” Paltrow wrote on her website.  Paltrow modeled the rest of the new collection, including a lightweight utility jacket ($595), a short-sleeve cardigan ($595), a denim dress ($395) and more.

Alex Trebek Wants Betty White To Replace Him

Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek has chosen his unlikely successor: Betty White.  “I joke with the audience all the time and I say, ‘Betty White,’ because they want somebody younger, somebody funnier,” Trebek told “Good Morning America.”  White is a longtime pal, and over the years, the two have shared banter and fun flirtation. In 2018, White told The Post that she enjoys watching “Jeopardy!” because, “First, it’s such a good game and, second, I happen to have a huge crush on the host, Alex Trebek.” Trebek has hosted the long-running “Jeopardy!” since 1984, and is contracted through 2022. He has a new memoir, “The Answer is . . . : Reflections on My Life,” out now.

SNL Ready To Return To The Studio

Lorne Michaels and his Saturday Night Live team are making plans to bring the show back to NBC’s Manhattan studios for the program’s 46th season, according to two people familiar with the matter —  the latest of TV’s wee-hours programs to try and navigate a new normal in the midst of a pandemic that makes the process of putting on a TV show anything but.  NBC declined to comment on its plans for the next cycle of “SNL.” To be certain, any concepts for the fall would hinge on how the nation is grappling with the coronavirus pandemic and the safety of the “SNL” cast and crew. NBC has yet to announce a premiere date for “Saturday Night Live.”  One early strategy calls for the program to be made in a “controlled” environment, meaning a live audience is likely not part of current considerations, according to one of these people. There is a template already in place: NBC’s “Tonight Show,” which Michaels also oversees, last week started taping new episodes from the network’s studios at 30 Rockefeller Plaza.

Colin May Have Case of Cold Feet!-(Globe)

Marriage is no laughing matter, even for SNL funnyman Colin Jost.  The SNL mainstay, 38, may be engaged to one of the world’s most gorgeous leading ladies, but that doesn’t mean the never-wed bachelor’s not scared stiff of tying the knot with twice-married fiancée Scarlett Johansson, 35.  “I was so scared of marriage for so long,” he quips, “because every time I talked to someone who just got married….[they’re] like, ‘Oh my God, you’ve got to do it……What could go wrong?’”  What indeed!  “Then you talk to someone who’s been married for five years,” he says, “and they’re like, ‘Don’t rush in to it….you have your whole life ahead of you.  Don’t have kids.  They’re the worst.’”  Yikes!

Shocking Death-(Us Weekly)

Lisa Marie Presley is beside herself after son Benjamin Keough died by suicide at age 27 on July 12.  (Dad is Presley’s ex Danny Keough.)  “She’s entirely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated,” her rep, Roger Widynowski, said in a statement, adding, “She adored that boy.  He was the love of her life.”  As of press time, an investigation of his death was underway.  Benjamin, Elvis Presley’s only grandson, “struggled with drugs and alcohol,” says a source, adding, “He was a good son and a good person.”

Ruston & Kacey:  Why They Split-(Star)

“These kinds of announcements are always met with scrutiny and speculation,” Kacey Musgraves and Ruston Kelly wrote in a July 3 statement announcing their split.  And, soon enough, friends and fans were wondering what came between the country singer and they guy who inspired her Grammy-winning 2018 record, Golden Hour.  A source says that the pair, both 31, “bonded over music,” but singer-songwriter Ruston had some issues with his wife’s skyrocketing career.  “There was a clash of egos,” says the insider.  “Ruston struggled with the fact that Kacey was the more successful one in their marriage.”  Publicly, at least, the duo, who wed in October 2017, are presenting a united front.  “Though we are parting ways in marriage,” they wrote, “we will remain true friends for the rest of our lives.  We hold no blame, anger or contempt for each other.”

“I think I’ve blown any chance of a Knighthood at this point.  I don’t think they give it to mouthy, sweary atheists.”-Ricky Gervais, who regularly jokes about not receiving the British honor despite his achievements in entertainment.

Vampire Killing Kit For Sale

A “vampire-slaying kit” containing a pocket-sized pistol and a 19th century copy of the New Testament is going under auction.  The gothic-looking container also comes packed with pliers, rosary and a bottle of shark’s teeth.  Also inside the metal-bound box is an ivory-robed wolf carrying rosary beads, as well as a blue phial with mysterious contents and a silver-bladed pocket knife.  And inside the lid is an oval enamel painting that depicts the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  There’s no record of the box’s origin, but the 1842 copy of the New Testament within does bear the inscription of an Isabella Swarbrick.  The current owner from the West Midlands, who wishes to remain anonymous, said that they do not know very much about its history.  “I have had it in my own collection for three years now,” they said.

Man Poses As Darth Vader After Lottery Win

A Jamaican man who won a lottery jackpot of more than $600,000 disguised his identity by collecting his winnings as Darth Vader.  The winner, identified only as W. Brown, told officials at Supreme Ventures, which operates the lottery in Jamaica, that he bought his ticket for the Lotto drawing at Di Endz Sports Bar in May Pen, Clarendon.  “I don’t regularly buy from that place, I usually purchase my ticket in Old Harbour or Spanish Town, but I was on the road so I just stopped there,” he said.  Brown collected his $655,911.64 jackpot while dressed as Darth Vader, the Dark Lord of the Sith from the Star Wars films. He said he wanted to keep his identity hidden because he hadn’t yet told many people about his luck.  “Life has always been very rough. I come from a poor family, sometimes I couldn’t attend school because my parents didn’t have it, but I told myself that God will help me one day so I can help my family,” he said.

Mustang Sells For Big Price

A 1965 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R, the first prototype of the line of competition cars and the first to win a race, set a new record by selling for $3.85 million.  Mecum Auctions in Indianapolis said the Mustang, which was once driven by Ken Miles, who was played by Christian Bale in 2019 film Ford v Ferrari, fetched a high bid of $3.5 million, with the total price coming to $3.85 million with taxes and fees.  The sum made it the most expensive Mustang ever sold, breaking a record set in January when the 1968 Mustang featured in the Steve McQueen film Bullitt sold for $3.74 million.  The winning bidder of the GT350R, commonly known as the “Flying Mustang,” was not identified. It was previously owned by collector John Atzbach, who had the vehicle fully restored.

MIT Uses Nixon Speech In Deepfake Lesson

Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology launched a website that uses a video of Richard Nixon giving a speech he never delivered to educate the public about the challenges posed by such “deepfakes.”  The researchers at MIT’s Center for Advanced Virtuality said they spent a year and a half creating the video of President Nixon delivering the real contingency speech that was written in 1969 to be delivered in the event of a disaster during the Apollo 11 moon landing mission.  The “In The Event of Moon Disaster” video is known as a “complete deepfake,” meaning the creators manipulated both video and audio to create the illusion that Nixon had actually delivered the speech on camera.  The Nixon video now forms the centerpiece of the Center for Advanced Virtuality’s website, moondisaster.org, which aims to educate the public about the existence of technology that can create realistic videos of fictional scenarios.  See the video HERE.
*******This could actually work in Joe Biden’s favor!! They should use it to simulate all his speeches!!

What You Should Know About Flying Right Now Amid The Coronavirus

Huffington Post

Prepare for it to feel different.

“I think everyone needs to realize that it’s going to be very, very different than what they’re used to,” said Tarr. “It’s going to feel weird, it might feel uncomfortable, and, depending on the person, it might feel really scary.”

Still, he added, most airlines are making an effort to keep passengers feeling safe and are receptive to concerns.

“Research what your airline has done before you book your flight and especially before you board,” he suggested.

Choose a safe transit method to the airport.

“If you must fly, consider your local travel method to and from the airport and any rules that the airport may have instituted for safety, such as modified pick-up and drop-off procedures, which can be found on the airport website,” Nagrani advised.

If possible, drive yourself to the airport or have someone in your household drop you off. You can take car services like Uber and Lyft, which require drivers and passengers to wear face masks, but you may want to wipe down your surroundings. Public transit is less costly but exposes you to more risk.

Wear a mask at all times.

To slow the spread of the virus, public officials advise wearing a mask in public spaces, including airports and airplanes. Most airlines mandate that passengers wear masks for the duration of their flights, and many airports require them inside the terminal.

“Wear a mask at all times, unless told by TSA or some other official to lower it for identification purposes,” Tarr advised. It may not be the most comfortable accessory for long periods of time, but this is an important way to protect the safety of you and your fellow travelers.

Bring your own provisions.

To minimize risk, airlines have severely limited their food and beverage services, so be sure to fill your water bottle at the airport to stay hydrated on board. Consider taking some vitamin C and other immune-boosting vitamins or nutrients before the journey, too.

Many airport shops and restaurants are still closed, so you may also want to bring your own snacks from home for your travels.

Social distance as best you can.

“Airports were never particularly fun, and now they’re even worse. But the key is to follow the same protocols you do pretty much everywhere else right now,” Tarr noted. “Keep your distance, and if someone else isn’t keeping their distance, politely say something.”

Plexiglass partitions between passengers and crew are more common, and there are some changes in the security processes, like more staggered lanes and spacing between individuals.

Practice social distancing to the best of your ability at the gate and throughout the boarding process, which may be a little different as well.

“One thing you’ll most likely experience is that planes are being boarded from the rear to ensure that passengers limit interactions with one another,” said Tarr.

Brace for close quarters.

While there are significantly fewer people flying right now, there are also fewer flights and routes in service, so planes aren’t as empty as they looked in mid-March.

In fact, some passengers on recent flights have complained on Twitter about the number of people on board. If you’re concerned about in-flight spacing, you can discuss your options with airline employees.

“Talk to the flight crew and to see what can be arranged,” said Tarr. “United is sending alerts to passengers 24 hours in advance if their flight hits 70% capacity and is allowing you to choose a different flight.”

Clean your hands frequently.

The TSA is now allowing each passenger to carry one 12-oz. container of hand sanitizer through security, so you’ll be able to disinfect your hands frequently. Many airports also have sanitizer stations in the terminals.

Tarr also recommends proper hand-washing at the airport. “I know airport bathrooms are often shockingly, revoltingly disgusting ― but most of them have sensors for soap and water,” he said.

Limit touching surfaces.

“Before travel, consider checking in online and downloading a boarding pass for low-touch experience,” Nagrani advised. Avoid touching any surfaces unless needed.

You can also cut down on the risk of touching surfaces by wearing gloves, but the CDC guidance doesn’t deem them necessary.

Wipe down your seat area.

You don’t have to go full-on Naomi Campbell, but it doesn’t hurt to wipe down your seat area when you board a flight.

Many airlines have shared ways they’re stepping up their cleaning procedures, with measures like high-grade disinfectant, more frequent cleanings and electrostatic spraying.

Keep up with the latest guidelines.

As experts learn more about the novel coronavirus and the disease it causes, guidelines change.

Check for updates on the CDC’s list of considerations for potential travelers as you make decisions regarding your excursions.
