Emmy Award Nominations – See full list Below!
The nominees for the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards were announced Tuesday by The Television Academy, with HBO’s Watchmen earning a leading 26 nominations. Watchmen was nominated for Limited Series, Outstanding Cast for a Limited Series, Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for star Regina King and Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for star Jeremy Irons among others. Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel came in second with 20 nominations. Netflix’s Ozark and HBO’s Succession both earned 18 nods. Leslie Jones hosted a virtual event to announce all of the nominees and was joined by Laverne Cox, Josh Gad, Tatiana Maslany and Television Academy Chairman and CEO Frank Scherma. The Emmy Awards are set to take place on Sept. 20 on ABC. Jimmy Kimmel will host the ceremony after previously hosting the 64th and 68th Emmy Awards.

Oprah Working With Apple TV
Apple TV+ and Oprah Winfrey announced a new series led by Winfrey for the streaming service. The Oprah Conversation will premiere Thursday at 4 p.m. PDT. The Oprah Conversation will feature Winfrey leading discussions with thought leaders on timely subjects. Her first interview will be with Professor Ibram X. Kendi, speaking about how White readers can learn to become anti-racist. The second episode will feature a conversation with Emmanuel Acho in two parts. In the first part, the athlete will discuss his web series Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man and take questions from White viewers. In the second part, Winfrey and Acho will discuss race together and include questions from LatinX guests. Future episodes will include Equal Justice Initiative founder, and subject of the movie Just Mercy, Bryan Stevenson. Winfrey will record the conversations remotely, as she gave her 2020 Commencement speech remotely. Apple TV+ already streams Oprah’s Book Club and Oprah Talks COVID-19.

New Jonas Baby
Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas confirmed the birth of their first child. On Monday, TMZ reported that Turner gave birth in a Los Angeles hospital Wednesday. Reps for Jonas and Turner confirmed in a statement to People. The couple named their daughter Willa. Both Jonas and Turner have social media accounts, but have not yet posted anything about Willa. Turner and Jonas celebrated their first wedding anniversary in May. Their 2019 wedding was a small ceremony. In July they had a larger wedding in France.

Ellen Show Under Investigation
“The Ellen DeGeneres Show” is reportedly under internal investigation by parent company WarnerMedia after a number of high-profile complaints regarding workplace culture circulated online. Citing sources, Variety reports that a memo was sent to the show’s staffers last week announcing that WarnerMedia’s employee relations group has teamed with a third party organization to interview current and former employees. Among the recent stories regarding the show was a report this month from Buzzfeed News, in which former and current staff members alleged that producers have created a “toxic work environment” based on bullying and fear. One employee still working for the production company behind DeGeneres’ talk show claimed to Buzzfeed News that after Fox News’ published an interview with a former bodyguard, who documented his unsavory experience with the host, it left execs scrambling to combat the accusations head-on after weeks of remaining silent. Ten additional former employees of the long-running show spoke out anonymously to the outlet with additional nightmarish claims about what it’s like working for DeGeneres and top producers. The third-party organization that will assist in the investigation was not named, but the outlet reports that Warner Bros. TV Vice President of Human Resources, Donna Hancock Husband, and Donna Redier Linsk, Telepictures Executive Vice President, sent the memo.

Prince Harry used a secret Instagram account in the beginning of his relationship with Meghan Markle. He used the handle SpikeyMau5 in honor of Canadian DJ Deadmau5 and a nickname given to him by his Met Police bodyguards, the Daily Mail reported on Monday, citing the information from Harry and Markle’s soon-to-be-released biography, “Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family.” According to the biography, they both followed each other on the social media platform after their first date, but they both stopped using their accounts when their relationship was made public. Markle was only one of two people following the account at the time it was deleted. The book also reported that Harry used a secret Facebook page with the alias Spike Wells. Wells — which used the King Julien from the movie “Madagascar” as the account’s profile image — claimed to hail from Maun, Botswana, one of Harry’s favorite places.

99 Year Old Pilot
A 99-year-old California woman broke two Guinness World Records when she piloted a plane and gave a flight lesson in the air. Robina Asti, 99, was named the world’s oldest flight instructor and active pilot after she gave her final flight lesson Sunday at NextGen Flight Academy at Riverside Municipal Airport. “I love getting people to experience what it’s like to lift off this Earth,” Asti told KABC-TV. “It is so good.” Asti said she wanted to show that senior citizens are still capable of making valuable contributions. The flight instructor took the world’s oldest pilot record from an Iowa man who flew a plane at the age of 98.

Emus Banned From Pub
A pub in the Australian outback has banned a pair of beloved local emus from the establishment for improper acts, including stealing food and defecating on the floor. The owners of the Yaraka Hotel in Yaraka (permanent population 18), Queensland, posted a sign at the entrance of the pub stating that the town’s local emus, Kevin and Carol, no longer are allowed inside. “Emus have been banned from this establishment for bad behavior,” a sign at the door reads. Gerry and Chris Gimblett, the business’ owners, said they had to ban the emus after the large birds learned to climb the front steps. “They’ve been stealing things from the guests, especially their food. They’d stick their heads in and pinch toast out of the toaster,” Gerry Gimblett told Guardian Australia. “But the main reason we’ve banned them is their droppings. They’re enormous, very large and very smelly, and they created great stains,” she said. The Gimbletts said they installed a rope barrier outside the pub and a sign asks customers to remember to close the rope after entering to prevent the emus from following.

Farmer Finds Prosthetic Leg
An amputee who lost his prosthetic leg while skydiving was reunited with his limb thanks to a sharp-eyed Vermont farmer who found it intact among his crops. Chris Marckres said he went for a tandem jump Saturday at Vermont Skydiving Adventures in Addison and didn’t realize until he was safely on the ground that his prosthetic leg was missing. “I think my adrenaline was so high and I was just so excited, I didn’t realize I had lost it,” Marckres said. Marckres posted a plea on Facebook for local residents to keep an eye out for his missing leg, as replacing it would be expensive. The post came to the attention of West Addison farmer Joe Marszalkowski, whose property is located near Vermont Skydiving Adventures. He searched his property Sunday and found the leg, which was completely intact and seemed to have incurred only a few minor scratches, among his crops. “I was very grateful to have found it without running it over with a machine this fall during harvest,” Marszalkowski said. “Or, God forbid, the combine sucked it up — it would’ve destroyed it.” Marszalkowski met with Marckres on Monday to return the leg.

Man Wins Lottery and Becomes Dad On Same Day
An Australian man said he is feeling lucky after winning a lottery jackpot of more than $70,000 and becoming a father on the same day. The St. Leonards, New South Wales, man told The Lott he decided to buy a ticket for Monday’s Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw because that was the same day his wife was expected to give birth. “I actually bought the ticket because our baby was due and we were feeling lucky! Turns out we really were,” the winner said. The lottery ticket was a $71,610.15 top prize winner, and the man’s wife gave birth to a healthy baby. “We had a baby and a win all in one day,” he said. “It was an incredible day all round.”
