When the highly anticipated “Friends” reunion finally premiered Thursday on HBO Max, fans across the pond were thinking the same thing: Matt LeBlanc is a dead ringer for a beloved Irish uncle. Irish Twitter was quick to observe that LeBlanc, who played Italian ladies’ man Joey Tribbiani on the sitcom, possessed certain Gaelic grandad, or “Da,” characteristics, including his biting wisecracks, Sunday roasts and frequent pints at the local pub. James Corden hopes to resume Carpool Karaoke in the summer. He gave an update on the series during Tuesday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Carpool Karaoke originated as a segment on The Late Late Show with James Corden. The series follows Corden and a celebrity guest as they drive around together and sing to popular music. On Ellen, Corden said production on Carpool Karaoke is still on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “We wonder when someone will tell us when it’s okay,” Corden said. “I’m hopeful for the end of summer or autumn time that we’d be able to do it again. She says she told “Mare of Easttown” director Craig Zobel to leave her body au naturel in a steamy sex scene with Guy Pearce. A New York Times piece recounts that Zobel “assured her he would cut ‘a bulgy bit of belly’” from the scene, but Winslet told him, “‘Don’t you dare.’” Winslet also said that she sent the HBO show’s promotional poster back two times because it was too retouched for her liking. “They were like, ‘Kate, really, you can’t,’ and I’m like, ‘Guys, I know how many lines I have by the side of my eye, please put them all back,’” Winslet recalled to the outlet. Guns N’ Roses Going Back On Tour
Guns N’ Roses have announced the rescheduled dates for their U.S. tour, which was pushed back due to the pandemic. Now kicking off on July 31st, 2021, at Hersheypark Stadium, the tour consists of 14 additional dates and will feature Wolfgang Van Halen’s new band, Mammoth WVH, in their touring debut. In their opening sets for GNR, the band will be performing songs from their upcoming self-titled debut album, out June 11th, including their hit rock single “Distance.” The trek runs through early October with a two-night run at the Hard Rock Live Arena in Hollywood, Florida. Tickets for the rescheduled dates are on sale now at Guns N’ Roses’ website and VividSeats, while tickets for the new dates will be on sale beginning Friday, June 4th at 12:00 p.m. local time.

Over the four-day Memorial Day weekend, North American cinemas tallied nearly $100 million in ticket sales, the best performance since the start of the pandemic. Although less than half of the $232 million haul garnered over the same weekend in 2019, this weekend was a bellwether for the movie theater industry. “Any studio executive’s belief that a movie belongs on streaming, that model is shattered with the numbers [from this weekend],” Joseph Masher, chief operating officer of Bow Tie Cinemas, said Tuesday on CNBC’s “Worldwide Exchange.” “The profitability of [movies] is exclusive to the theater. We’ve proved it this weekend.” The weekend boasted a $48.4 million three-day haul for Paramount’s “A Quiet Place Part II,” the highest film debut during the pandemic. For the full four-day holiday weekend, the film garnered $57 million. The film opened just shy of the first “A Quiet Place,” which took in $50 million across its first Friday, Saturday and Sunday in theaters in 2018. Notably, only 72% of theaters were open for the sequel.

Squirrel Rescued From River
A man fishing on an a New Brunswick, Canada, river noticed some unusual activity in the water and ended up rescuing a red squirrel struggling with some bass. Matt Myers said he was fishing for striped bass on the Miramichi River when he saw a group of bass splashing at the surface of the water. “I was watching some splashing and all of a sudden I looked to the side and I thought ‘What is that in the middle of this spawning activity?'” Myers told CBC News. He said he initially thought the bass were attacking a stick, but he then realized they were nipping at an animal. “Lo and behold, it’s this poor little red squirrel in the middle of all this spawning activity,” Myers said. “The bass appeared to be coming up and nipping at it.” Myers used his paddle to scoop the squirrel up onto his kayak and gave it a ride back to shore.

Wrong Ticket Wins Big
A North Carolina woman missed a time cutoff by a single minute and accidentally bought a lottery ticket for the wrong drawing — and won $2 million. Elizabeth Johnson of Lucama told North Carolina Education Lottery officials she tried to buy a ticket for the May 19 Powerball drawing online, but she missed the 9:57 p.m. cutoff time by one minute and had mistakenly bought a ticket for Saturday’s drawing instead. Johnson said she didn’t even realize the mistake until she got a message saying she had won $2 million in Saturday’s drawing. “It was definitely a shock,” Johnson said. “When I got the message saying that I had won I thought, ‘Well, I didn’t even play tonight.'” Johnson soon realized she had accidentally bought a ticket for Saturday’s drawing and matched all five white balls, earning her a $1 million jackpot that became $2 million when the 2X multiplier ball was drawn. Johnson said her plans for the winnings include a new house and a family vacation.

A Kazakhstani bodybuilder who wed his sex doll after a whirlwind romance is open to dating a human on one condition: They like his silicone soulmates as well. He dropped the bombshell on the UK-based “The Dating Show” on FUBAR Radio Friday. “I was in a real relationship in the past, about seven years,” said Yuri Tolochko, who infamously married his sex doll Margo in November after dating her for eight months. A self-professed “pansexual,” Tolochko can reportedly love anything from an “image” to a “soul.” Nonetheless, “it’s interesting and important for me, and in the future maybe I will have a real person, but it’s important that she or he likes my dolls too,” the muscleman said. Woman Rescued From Storm Drain…. Again
A woman who was missing for three weeks and then rescued from a Florida storm drain found herself in another underground tunnel system in Texas over the weekend. Lyndsey Kennedy climbed out of a 6-foot drain pipe Saturday night and was taken to a hospital, her mother told West Palm Beach, Fla.,-based WPEC, a CBS affiliated TV station, Kennedy had been checked into a rehabilitation facility in Texas when she wandered off, she said. Kennedy’s friend, Brady Morgan, told the news outlet that Grand Prairie officers spotted her. When they approached her, she slipped into a nearby storm drain, the news outlet reported. Her family tracked her using an app on her cell phone that noted her last location prior to going underground. As a precaution, her loved ones dropped bags of food and Gatorade in nearby manholes in an effort to sustain her. Kennedy was in the hospital on a psychiatric hold, the TV station reported. Her family reportedly said she has psychosis and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder from years of being in an abusive relationship. In March, Kennedy was pulled out of a storm drain while naked in Florida’s Delray Beach after having been missing for three weeks.

Considering the tenuous state of world travel at this moment, it may just be easier to order a fruity drink like this, close your eyes and imagine you’re on an island. What’s not to love about a drink with flavors like guava, pineapple, ginger and coconut? “I love the Iced Guava Passionfruit,” said Brian, a barista in Franklin, Tennessee. “It’s got a nice tropical flavor, which is something we don’t have a whole lot of. It uses the pineapple ginger syrup really well, too.” And if you’re sugar-conscious, Brian says he orders it with one less pump of said syrup, which reduces the 33 grams of sugar found in a grande. Greg from Wichita, Kansas, also sings the praises of the pineapple ginger syrup in the Guava Passionfruit, saying it adds a serious “fruity punch.” Strangely, not many of the custom drinks we spoke to baristas about used this syrup, so if you’re looking to create an inventive custom drink of your own, it may be worth a look.

A grande Peppermint Mocha Frappuccino has 64 grams of sugar, according to Starbucks’ menu. So when you consider that there are only 14 grams of sugar in a grande Very Berry Hibiscus, it’s not so bad. And that’s important to Paul, a barista in Tallahassee, Florida. “It’s one of my favorites on the menu. And while I think it’s good any time of day, I usually like to drink it in the afternoon,” he said. “It’s a little bit sweet, and I try to avoid sugar in the morning.” Even though many of the TikTok-famous custom drinks at Starbucks add multiple pumps of syrup, many of the drinks the brand has been introducing lately ― like the now completely sold-out Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso, with 13 grams of sugar ― have been noteworthy because of the relatively low sugar content. If you’re watching your sugar intake, this is one more option on the Starbucks menu.

This Pink Drink customization is a favorite of Dublin, Ohio, barista Kaylinn because of its similar taste to a now-discontinued Life Savers brand called Creme Savers. “I like a Pink Drink with three pumps of white mocha in it,” Kaylinn said. “It tastes exactly like those old strawberry creme-flavored candies.” If history is any indication, perhaps a White Mocha Pink Drink will be introduced to the menu soon.
