Virtual “Fast Times” Table Reading Coming

Sean Penn announced on Jimmy Kimmel Live that a virtual, Fast Times at Ridgemont High table read will take place in June in support of his non-profit organization Core.  The actor said on Monday that the table read was comedian Dane Cook’s idea after he had given Core it’s first donation in helping to fight COVID-19.  The film’s director Amy Heckerling and writer Cameron Crowe will present the table read, which will feature a star-studded cast portraying the characters. Penn, however, will not be reading for his character Spicoli and will instead take on another role.  “We’ve got an amazing cast so far together. We’re still to cast a couple of roles, something I’ll circle back to,” Penn said.  “There is a fantastic actor playing Spicoli. It’s kind of a mind-blowing cast so far,” he continued before inviting Kimmel to join the table read, which will take place on June 11th.
********Fighting COVID 19??? Oh, yeah… we forgot about THAT crisis!!

Lori Loughlin’s Absence Addressed

Lori Loughlin’s absence during the first half of “Fuller House” Season 5 was finally addressed.  John Stamos, who returned for the 15th episode titled “Be Yourself, Free Yourself” as Uncle Jesse, asked DJ (Candace Cameron Bure) for advice to find out which child is biting his daughter at school, Us Weekly reported on Tuesday.  As he comes up with a plan, DJ then wonders if her uncle should ask for Becky’s (Loughlin) approval.  “Aunt Becky is in Nebraska helping out her mother,” Jesse told DJ during the episode. “I don’t want to bother her with a tiny little thing like this.”  “Right, because she’d tell you not to do what you’re about to do,” DJ responded.  Loughlin starred as Becky Donaldson Katsopolis on Seasons 2-8 of “Full House” before reprising her role for several episodes of the Netflix reboot. However, the streaming service did not ask her back for the fifth and final season of “Fuller House” after she was arrested for her role in the national college admissions scandal.
*******A-ha!! There’s a federal prison in Nebraska, right??
*****Why not just say, “Aunt Becky joined the Merchant Marine???”
*****We would have made it more dramatic: “Oh, you didn’t hear? Aunt Becky was shot in the forehead in a liquor store robbery!”

Will Meghan Markle Do Dancing With Stars?

Dancing with the Stars” judge Bruno Tonioli is hoping to convince Meghan Markle to compete on an upcoming season.  Both She and Prince Harry settled down in Los Angeles, which Tonioli believes puts the former “Suits” star in a perfect position to appear on the show.  “She’s here now,” he told Extra in a recent remote interview. “She’d be great. It would make her look accessible and funny. It’d be brilliant.”  He added: “Meghan, if you’re watching this, please, we’d love you to do it!”  The show show has already been greenlit for Season 29. However, it’s unclear how it will move forward, given new restrictions on production caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Regardless, the judge is excited to get to work on figuring out a way to make “DWTS” happen again.  “When you think about the situation at the moment, all I can think of is all our crew, our dancers, our band, people that work in restaurants, people that rely on this industry to live,” he said. “It’s a sad situation. Hopefully, very soon, we’ll all be back there ready… ready to rumba!”
*****Is she a big enough star for this show??
****How about putting Archie on? He could do the Pee Pee Dance!!
*****He doesn’t understand!! Meghan doesn’t want any attention. She moved into Tyler Perry’s Beverly Hills mansion so she could get OUT of the limelight!!

Carole Baskin Takes Over Joe Exotic’s Zoo!

In a ruling Monday, a federal judge granted control of the Oklahoma zoo that was previously owned by Joe Exotic, also known as Joseph Maldonado-Passage, to his chief rival, Carole Baskin, owner of the Big Cat Rescue Corp. The decision said the zoo animals must be removed from the property within 90 days, and according to reports, its current owner, Jeff Lowe, will also need to vacate the facility.  Baskin reacted to the ruling on Tuesday in a statement to Fox News.  “Over a year ago Mr. Lowe announced plans to move the animals to a location in Thackerville, OK that he has been constructing and he claims will be a better facility. He recently stated that he had funds to complete the zoo and a contractor who could complete it in a few months,” Baskin said.  Her statement continues: “If the need arises to make other plans to place the animals in new homes, Big Cat Rescue and the animal welfare organizations that have previously successfully placed big cats from large facilities in new homes stand ready to assist.”  Baskin previously sued Maldonado-Passage for trademark and copyright infringements and won a $1 million civil judgment against him. Palk’s judgment Monday found that ownership of the zoo was fraudulently transferred to Maldonado-Passage’s mother in an attempt to avoid paying the judgment.  Maldonado-Passage remains incarcerated in Fort Worth, Texas. In a handwritten letter posted Monday on Twitter, he repeated his plea for a presidential pardon.
*******Instead of granting the pardon, Trump ordered that he be ground up and fed to the tigers!!
*******The big question: Will Carole’s current husband disappear??
*****Just to be fair, they’ll take one of the cats and put it in the cell with Joe Exotic!!

Rocky Documentary Coming Out

Fans of the “Rocky” franchise can look forward to the straight to on-demand release of a new documentary on June 9 celebrating the character titled, “40 Years of ‘Rocky’: The Birth of a Classic.”  The film, narrated by the man himself, Sylvester Stallone, will bypass its original plan to release on Epix, opting for a straight-to-home release. “Rocky” premiered in 1976, telling the story of an up-and-coming boxer who makes a name for himself after he gets a title shot thrown his way. The film was a massive success and spawned five sequels and two spinoff films.  It promises never-before-seen footage and an in-depth and personal look at the making of the film, including anecdotes from Stallone himself.  The trailer for the upcoming documentary gives viewers a taste of what to expect, as Stallone narrates how he felt all those years ago when he conceived of the Rocky character, noting it was like realizing your best friend was with you all along throughout your life.
******Wow… you mean he ALWAYS talks like that??
*****”Rocky” came out in 1976. It marked the last time we saw a white guy win a prize fight!!

A 2008 Tyra Banks interview with Beyonce has gone viral.  The “Tyra Banks Show” host let the future Queen Bey choose from a “fish-bowl” full of silly questions-such as “Brie-once, what’s your favorite cheese?”-but there was nothing random about them!  “All questions were cleared in advance with Beyonce,” spilled a source.  “Even back then, she was a total control freak!”

Reese and Laura’s “Dynasty” Dress-up!-(Globe)

What to give a gal like Reese Witherspoon who has everything and more?  How about a campy reenactment straight out of ‘80s prime-time soap “Dynasty”!  The “Big Little Lies” star asked Oscar-winning co-star/pal Laura Dern to do it as a b-day present.  “I only had one thing that I wanted,” reveals the 44-year-old actress, who swooshed around as Krystle Carrington, made famous by Linda Evans, while Laura, 53, acted as archnemesis Alexis Carrington, memorably played by Joan Collins.  “The most fun thing was we just started watching clips of the two of them like crazy to figure out what we could reenact in our quarantined, social-distanced world,” explains Laura.  “Our teenagers filmed it, did the music and edited it,” adds Reese, confessing the actresses did their own throwback hair and makeup.  “Maybe one day, we’ll let people see it,” she gushes.  “Oh, my god.  It was so fun!”

Carrie’s Lip Service-(Star)

Carrie Underwood famously went into hiding after a 2017 fall left her face marred by some 40 stitches.  She later laughed off speculation that the freak accident was a cover-up for a nose job or other work:  “I wish I’d gotten some awesome plastic surgery to make this [scar] look better,” she joked about an ever-so-slight imperfection to her upper lip.  “But I try not to worry about it too much.”  Now it appears the “Cry Pretty” singer has done a little something to repair her pout.  Indeed, the 37-year-old mom of two has been looking noticeably puffier of late.  “Carrie’s clearly had lip enhancement, and her lips look good,” LA-based cosmetic surgeon Dr. Alexander Rivkin says.  Commending her for keeping the bottom lip slightly larger than the top to maintain a natural look.  Rivkin, who doesn’t treat the country singer, adds.  “She’s likely getting small amounts of preventative Botox to keep her skin wrinkle-free.”

Megan & Machine Gun Kelly:  More Than Friends?-(Life & Style)

Brian Austin Green wanted to set the record straight after Megan Fox was seen hanging out with Machine Gun Kelly.  The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum, 46, confirmed that he and his wife, 34, had in fact called it quits, but while there are rumors that she’s already moved on to the 30-year-old rapper, “they’re [just] friends at this point,” he insisted on his podcast, however, a source says otherwise.  Megan and Kelly (whose real name is Colson Baker) “grew close” on the set of their new film Midnight in the Switchgrass, shares the source, “and their friendship turned into something more.  They’ve been hooking up for weeks!”

Large Fish Donate

A group of Hawaii fishermen who landed a pair of yellowfin tuna weighing a total 220 pounds donated the fish to healthcare workers at local hospitals.  Kyle Nakamoto, executive producer of the diving show Hawaii Skin Diver TV, said he and four friends reeled in two massive yellowfin tuna during a recent outing, and they converted the 220 pounds of fish into meals for healthcare workers.  The fishermen took the tuna to a seafood distributor to have them cleaned, cooked and portioned into more than 300 poke bowls.  The bowls were distributed to workers at Honolulu’s Straub Medical Center and The Queen’s Medical Center.  “We are so grateful for all the donations we have received for our healthcare workers. This particular donation of fresh ahi was especially thoughtful, and we appreciate the hard work and effort that went into catching it and preparing such a wonderful meal for our teams,” Travis Clegg, chief operating officer at Straub Medical Center, told CNN.

She said the reptiles left on their own after about 20 minutes.

Ways You Can Feel More In Control During The Coronavirus Pandemic

Huffington Post

  1. Identify what you can control in your own life.

Living through a global pandemic may have you feeling more helpless than ever, but it’s crucial to remember that “so little of life was ever in our control to begin with,” Dahlen deVos said.

Rather than dwelling on uncertainty, consider what is within your power. Any time you feel anxious, Dahlen deVos suggested asking yourself three questions: What is my intention at this moment? What actions would I like to take right now? How can I respond to this trigger/event/pain/uncomfortable emotion?

Focusing on your intentions, actions and responses can shift your nervous system from fight-or-flight mode back into rest-and-digest mode, she said. From there, you can make decisions from a place of calm instead of panic.

  1. Lend a helping hand.

One cure for feeling helpless is taking action. If you’re weighed down by anxiety or worry, consider what you can do to help a stranger or loved one.

“Taking action is within your control,” said Tess Brigham, a marriage and family therapist and board-certified coach in California. Brigham said to think about what change you can effect and how you can be more thoughtful or caring right now.

That might mean donating your money to a local food bank if you have the means, picking up groceries for your neighbor or simply taking on your partner’s chores for the day. Going out of your way to be of service when you’re feeling low can help improve your attitude and remind you of your power to create positive change.

  1. Stabilize your routine.

The routine you relied on before the coronavirus hit may no longer exist, but it’s still important to establish a sense of normality in your day.

A routine offers relief through predictability, which can yield to a sense of control, Dahlen deVos said. “Routine allows our brains to go on autopilot a bit, which gives them a much-needed break from constantly fielding so much new information.”

Work on building consistency into your days, Dahlen deVos said, whether that means creating a work schedule or simply making lunch at the same time every afternoon.

Next, try to incorporate “one activity that increases your sense of calm, wellness or stability,” Marnix said. Think: cooking, meditating, listening to a podcast or coloring. Choose a time each day to engage in your activity and practice staying present. “Being grounded and present in the moment reduces ruminating thoughts,” Marnix said.

  1. Step back from social media every so often.

It’s tempting to check the news or log on to social media every hour for updates, but being too immersed in the media can take a toll on your mental health, Marnix said.

Even mindless scrolling can lead to information fatigue, burnout and feelings of being overwhelmed, Dahlen deVos added. That’s why it’s critical to be mindful of how you consume information.

“Try limiting yourself to perusing news or social media sites to set hours of the day, when you feel more regulated and intentional, or more equipped to handle whatever you might read or come across,” Dahlen deVos said.

It’s also healthy to curate your content. In addition to limiting your news outlets to one or two sources you like and trust, Brigham said, try unfollowing or muting any social media accounts that trigger or worsen your feelings of anxiety.

  1. Do a project with your hands.

Doing something as simple as potting a plant or cleaning out your junk drawer can help calm your mind and relax your body.

“Our brains love seeing tasks completed, so taking on projects that we know we can check a box and be done with feels very satisfying,” Dahlen deVos said. Not only that, but “doing projects with our hands can act as a form of mindfulness,” she added, “which is very regulating for the nervous system and can soothe the emotions.”

To set yourself up for success, pick a fun project with low stakes. Try cooking a new recipe, organizing your pantry, hanging a shelf or doing a craft.

  1. Embrace your feelings.

When you experience sadness, helplessness or anxiety, try not to judge yourself or rush through the feeling process.

“We’re so set up for focusing on how to be happy 24/7, but that’s not realistic,” Brigham said. It’s OK to feel a sense of loss right now, she added, whether you’re grieving a job, relationship, death or simply the absence of normality.

“It’s important to accept your sad feelings and feel them just as you would with happy feelings,” Brigham said.

And remember to resist the urge to compare your situation. “Everyone is coping with this event in their own way,” Dahlen deVos said, and “there is no right way to cope.”

Make sure to check in with yourself on a regular basis. If you have difficulty functioning, feel a persistent sense of hopelessness or dread, or experience a “loss of motivation, interest or pleasure that does not seem to be resolving,” you may need to speak to a mental health professional or reach out for help, Marnix said.
