Tiger Woods Signs Video Game Contract

Tiger Woods might be back to the golf course anytime soon, but he will make virtual appearances as part of a return to video games, game publisher 2K announced Tuesday.  “I am looking forward to making my return to the video game landscape, and with 2K and HB Studios, I’ve found the right partners to make it happen,” Woods said in a news release.  “I’m honored to take part in this opportunity and look forward to sharing my expertise and insights as we build the future of golf video games together.”  Woods’ agreement with 2K includes the rights to his name and likeness to appear exclusively in the PGA Tour 2K video game franchise or any other golf games published by 2K.  Woods also will serve as an executive director and consultant for the game. 2K also agreed to partner with Woods’ TGR Foundation.  2K did not disclose the terms of the agreement with Woods, but described the exclusive partnership as “long-term.” Woods, who was seriously injured in a single-car rollover accident Feb. 23 in a suburb of Los Angeles, hasn’t appeared in a video game since 2013.

Charlie Sheen Talks About Soleil Moon Frye

Charlie Sheen had nothing but kind words for Soleil Moon Frye, who talked about their sexual relationship in her new Hulu documentary, “Kid 90.”  “She’s a good egg,” the 55-year-old actor told Us Weekly via his publicist. “I wish Soleil well in this resurgence of hers.”  Sheen also said he has yet to watch the doc but “it’s on my list to watch and very near the top.”  In “Kid 90,” Frye revealed that Sheen was her “first consensual sexual experience.” She read a journey entry from December 18, 1994, in the film which said, “It’s been the most strange and incredible day ever.”  She called Sheen is her “Mr. Big,” a reference to Carrie Bradshaw’s love interest in “Sex and the City.” “He’s somebody I’ve had a crush on for years. He’s a person that intrigues me and excites me,” Frye added.  She would have been 18 at the time and Sheen would have been 29 years old.  She also opens up about a nonconsensual sexual encounter when she was 17-years-old and a man forced himself on her.

The Princes Finally Talk To Each Other

Prince Harry has spoken to his older brother Prince William and their father Prince Charles after his bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.  On Tuesday, Winfrey’s pal Gayle King announced on “CBS This Morning” that the royals spoke over the weekend. King is also friends with Harry’s wife Meghan Markle.  “Well, I’m not trying to break news, but I did actually call them to see how they were feeling and it’s true, Harry has talked to his brother and he has talked to his father too,” said King, as quoted by People magazine.   “The word I was given was that those conversations were not productive,” King shared. “But they are glad that they have at least started a conversation. And I think what is still upsetting to them is the palace keep saying they want to work it out privately, but yet, they believe these false stories are coming out that are very disparaging against Meghan, still.”  “No one in the royal family has talked to Meghan yet, at this particular time,” King continued.

Britain’s Prince Philip left a London hospital on Tuesday after being treated for an infection and undergoing a heart procedure.  He had been hospitalized since being admitted to the private King Edward VII’s Hospital in London on Feb. 16, where he was treated for an infection.  He was later transferred to a specialized cardiac care hospital, St. Bartholomew’s, for a short stay, before returning to King Edward VII’s.  Photographers standing outside the door of the private hospital captured his departure. Buckingham Palace has not yet commented on the matter.  Philip’s illness is not believed to be related to the coronavirus. Both Philip and Elizabeth received COVID-19 vaccinations in January and chose to publicize the matter to encourage others to also take the vaccine.

Fund For Meghan and Harry’s Home Goes Bust

A GoFundMe page set up to pay off the mortgage on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s $14.6 million California estate has gone bust — after raising a measly $110, a report says.  Anastasia Hanson of California told Britain’s The Sun that she started the fundraising effort because she seriously felt sorry for the multimillionaire royal couple — after Harry publicly whined to Oprah Winfrey about being financially cut off by the Palace.  “When they came to the USA, they were without jobs and with limited funds,” said Hanson, who lives about 25 minutes from the princely pair’s palatial estate in swanky Montecito.  “They’ve stated that they’ve had a very rough time, so this fundraiser is a way to give help, compassion, and love by paying their home loan in full.”  Hanson’s online bid to try to financially help the royals was started a few days ago — and shut down by Saturday after just three donations, The Sun said. Hanson kicked in $5, while “A Supporter” gave $100 and “Anonymous” bestowed $5 on the fund.

JLo Was Still Wedding Planning Until Split

Even though her relationship with Alex Rodriguez seemed to be falling apart at the seams, a hopeful Jennifer Lopez soldiered on with wedding plans.  An insider tells the NYPost “There were issues between them, but she was still sitting for fittings for [her wedding] dress last week.”  They’ve been forced to cancel their wedding twice because of COVID, but we’re told they’d been planning to finally get hitched later this year.  Sources say that the five-year romance came to an end because reality star Madison LeCroy revealed to Page Six that she’d been FaceTiming with Alex.  “He’s never physically cheated on his fiancée with me,” LeCroy told us in February, adding, “I don’t want anything bad for his family, or for mine. We are definitely innocent in this.  The Madison LeCroy scandal was the reason they finally broke up. There were already problems, but Jennifer was really embarrassed by it.”

Limo Catches Fire On The Way To Wedding

A bridal party’s trip to a Las Vegas church was delayed when their limousine caught fire on the way to the venue.  Las Vegas Fire & Rescue said the limousine was traveling on Interstate 15 southbound between Sahara and Spring Mountain when an occupant, a bride on the way to her wedding, smelled something burning.  The bridal party noticed moments later that smoke was coming from beneath the driver’s seat, and the vehicle pulled over so the occupants could evacuate.  The vehicle was soon completely engulfed in flames. Witness Jay Hawk captured video of the limo burning while the bridal party stands nearby.  VIP Limousines of Nevada, the company that owns the vehicle, said a replacement limo was quickly sent to the scene to take the bride and her party the rest of the way to The Little Church of the West for the ceremony. Surfboard Found 1,700 Miles Away!

An Australian man who lost his surfboard while catching a big wave discovered the board had been found 16 months later when it was spotted drifting nearly 1,700 miles away.  Danny Griffiths, of Hobart, Tasmania, said he was surfing on the island of Pedra Branca, off the southern coast of Tasmania, in 2017 when he was separated from his board.  “There were about five of us surfing, and on my very last wave, I had to jump off at the end as it was one of the bigger waves of the day. It had closed down and started breaking towards me,” Griffiths told the Australian Broadcasting Corp.  “We had a boat and a couple of jet skis looking for it for two or three hours. Normally you can find them pretty easily due to their bright colors, but I never saw it again.”  Griffiths said he learned of the board’s fate nearly four years later, when two tourists from northern Queensland visited Tasmania and mentioned to some locals how their sons, who are fishermen, found a surfboard floating in the water a few years earlier.  “A couple of local surfers clued on that it could have been mine and we joined the pieces of the puzzle together,” Griffiths said. “I couldn’t believe it.”  The fishermen, Troy and Beau Breed, had plucked the board out of the water off the coast of Queensland’s Magnetic Island in 2018.  Griffiths said the barnacle-encrusted board apparently had been in the water for 16 months before being fished out nearly 1,700 miles from where he lost it.

Chicken Dinner Leads To Lottery Win

A Maryland woman said arriving at an eatery before her to-go chicken order was ready led to her winning an $80,000 lottery jackpot.  The 53-year-old Frederick woman told Maryland Lottery officials she went to Belle’s Sports Bar & Grill to pick up a to-go order of chicken wings and ended up deciding to play Keno for the first time when she arrived before her food was ready.  “I don’t even play Keno,” the woman said. “I usually only play scratch-offs.”  The player said she used some family birthdays and random numbers to fill out a 6-spot ticket for two drawings with the Super Bonus multiplier option. She said she didn’t discover until after receiving her food that her beginner’s luck had paid off with an $80,000 jackpot.  She said she plans to use her winnings to pay off some bills and take a vacation somewhere warm.

5 Common Mistakes Parents Make When Talking To Kids About Puberty

Huffington Post

Mistake #1: Waiting until puberty to talk about puberty.

For Talib, one of the biggest missteps parents tend to make is underestimating just how much of a role they play in preparing their children for puberty and adolescence — which means they then put off important conversations.

“I really want to empower parents and say, ‘You are such an important part of the preparation for this profound change,’” she said.

“Preparation” really is the key. Kids start grappling with what parents think of as strictly teenage stuff at much younger ages than parents often recognize. For example: Evidence suggests that some children begin experimenting with drugs and alcohol when they’re 9 or 10.

What to do instead: Start early. Experts like Talib don’t like to be too prescriptive about timetables. But these are conversations that can start (in developmentally appropriate ways) years before puberty begins.

“At age 5 or 6, children can understand their bodies change,” said Talib. So that can be a great time to start laying the groundwork for bigger physical changes to come by simply normalizing the fact that children’s bodies come in all different shapes and sizes — and that they change in different ways, at different points.

Also, “it is our obligation as trusted adults to teach children the anatomical terms for people’s bodies,” said Vanessa Bennett, founder of Dynamo Girl and author of the Uncertain Parenting Newsletter.

She noted that there are a few very practical reasons to do this as well. For one, it gives children the language they need if they’re ever injured or need to describe a particular type of pain. Also, research suggests that children who know the real names for their body parts may be less vulnerable to sexual abuse.

Mistake #2: Thinking this is all easier or more comfortable for other parents.

Parents sometimes drag their feet on having puberty-related talks simply because they can be uncomfortable, particularly if they weren’t conversations they had with their own caregivers growing up. But waiting until you’re comfortable can be a real mistake, because you may not fully get there — and that’s OK.

Also, know that avoiding these conversations can “unintentionally confer shame to that topic,” said Bennett, who added that she really likes to remind parents of the Fred Rogers notion that that which is mentionable is manageable.

What to do instead: Just accept that these conversations can be (and are!) tricky in various ways for just about everyone, Talib said.

Also, “fake it till you make it,” she urged. Just try to project as much calmness and confidence as you can, even if inside you’re a ball of nerves.

Mistake #3: Overloading kids with information.

Because these conversations can be uncomfortable, some parents feel like they need to arm themselves with lots of information.

“A big challenge for parents — myself included! — is that we’re so eager to give our kids good information, we’re so revved up to have ‘the talk’ with them, that there’s this huge inclination to lecture our kids,” said Bennett.

What to do instead: Consider starting with a question. “Let’s say you want to talk to your kid about masturbation. You could say something like, ‘Hey, I’m wondering if you’ve heard the word masturbation?’ If they say they have, then maybe follow up with something like, ‘Oh, OK! What do you know about it?’” she suggested.

The goal is to get a sense of what children think they know, and ultimately to open the door up to many more conversations that happen throughout adolescence. Also, don’t be afraid to tell your child if they’ve asked something that you simply do not know. Tell them you can look it up together, or that you will look into it and get back to them.

Use the resources that are available to you. Like, you might see something in a TV show that sparks a conversation. You can read a book about puberty aloud together, or pass it back and forth and flag any points of interest or question marks with a highlighter or sticky notes, Talib said.

Mistake #4: Not acknowledging how puberty and adolescence have changed (including access to porn!).

Parents sometimes try to work their own adolescent experiences into these conversations, and while anecdotes can help further normalize the experience, sometimes we can unintentionally overdo it.

“Social media and the prevalence of pornography has completely changed the landscape for tween and teen kids in this country,” said Bennett, who also noted that puberty starts earlier now than it once did as well.

What to do instead: First, just acknowledge that things have changed. And make sure family conversations around adolescence and puberty take into account kids’ new reality, like how ubiquitous porn is. (Experts say it is “inevitable” that children will look at porn, and surveys suggest that one-third of 11- to 14-year-olds have looked at porn on a mobile device.)

“The most important thing is that these are conversations that have no judgment,” Bennett said. Again, that’s not always easy, she said, noting that even Dynamo Girl offers puberty workshops — and even though she is deeply immersed in these topics — her “heart was racing and palms were sweating,” and that she had to “fake a chill tone” while recently talking to one of her own kids about what they knew about pornography and what they’d come across online.

So if you lose your cool, don’t forget the power of the do-over, Bennett said. “We will all mess up,” she added.

Mistake #5: Overlooking body image.

Parents who do a good job of talking their children through the physiology of puberty sometimes forget to delve into the more emotional side of all of this. In particular, they may forget to explicitly talk to children about what they’re feeling in terms of body image.

“Kids entering puberty feel insecure about their bodies and appearances, and that’s developmentally normal,” Talib said.

What to do instead: Directly talk to kids about body image at this sensitive point in their development. For example, “normalizing that teens gain weight during puberty is huge,” said Talib. As is simply normalizing the fact that they are not the only one of their peers with mixed (or negative) feelings about how their body looks right now.

“It’s really helpful to let teens know that their body may change at a different pace, or to a different degree than their friends, and to let them know that that’s normal,” Talib added.

Kids naturally compare themselves to other people, she said. Parents can really help them a lot by simply acknowledging that, making space for them to talk about it, and then working on some strategies to foster healthy body image.
