Lady Gaga’s Dog Walker Describes Injuries

Lady Gaga‘s dog walker Ryan Fischer is updating fans about his health journey after being shot while walking the singer’s three dogs last month.  In an Instagram post written on Monday, he said his recovery hasn’t been a straight line and he had to stay in the hospital longer than anticipated because his lung collapsed multiple times.  He described how “strange hissing and glugging” noises were coming from his chest “every time I took a breath.”  “Air was filling up my chest cavity,” he added. “Along with accepting the news that I was about to be readmitted, several nurses and doctors told me how they had been in the room when I came in with my gunshot. How they didn’t think I was going to make it.”  Fischer detailed how the “bullet wound had scarred my tissue like a burn” and finally after not healing the doctors decided “to remove portions of my lung.”  Fischer was shot in the chest while walking Gaga’s French bulldogs named Miss Asia, Koji, and Gustav at night in Los Angeles back on Feb. 24th.  Gaga had offered a $500,000 reward for the safe return of her dogs.
********But don’t worry… the dogs are fine!!!
*****Turns out gunshot wounds are no fun!!! It aint like the movies!!!

Jennifer Love Hewitt Talks About Inappropriate Questions

Jennifer Love Hewitt is looking back with disgust at the “inappropriate” questions she was asked about her body by reporters while promoting her film, “Heartbreakers,” 20 years ago.  “At the time that I was going through it, and interviewers were asking what now would be incredibly inappropriate, gross things, it didn’t feel that way,” she told Vulture on Tuesday.  “I mean, I was in barely any clothing the whole movie. For some reason, in my brain, I was able to just go, ‘Okay, well, I guess they wouldn’t be asking if it was inappropriate.’”  In 2001, when the romantic comedy was released, “Late Late Show” host Craig Kilborn asked Hewitt about a fan-made website that rated her breasts in different outfits.  “It’s very trippy, it’s really weird,” a then-23-year-old Hewitt said of the site, to which Kilborn responded, “I believe that [men] are somewhat fascinated by the chest of a woman,” adding, “There’s motorboat time.”  Hewitt told Vulture she laughed off similar comments at the time, but the now 42-year-old, who has a 7-year-old daughter, said becoming a mom has changed her perspective on her previous experiences.  “I definitely look back on it and go, ‘ew,’” Hewitt said, adding that she recalls the focus being placed on her body after the release of the 1997 horror film, “I Know What You Did Last Summer.”  The actress said she purposely wore a T-shirt that said “Silicone Free” to a press junket on because she was “so annoyed” and “knew something about boobs was gonna be the first question out of [reporters’] mouths.”
**********Didn’t her mom tell her?? If you don’t want men talking about your body, cover up a little bit!!

Game Of Thrones Spinoff Coming To Broadway

Game of Thrones,” which saw a controversial end to its run in 2019 and has several spinoff shows in the works at HBO, is now coming to Broadway.  The play will be a prequel story, reportedly centered around The Great Tourney at Harrenhal — an event that took place 16 years before the events of “Game of Thrones.”  This means that unlike the spinoff shows in the works — such as “House of The Dragon,” about Targaryen ancestors — this play is close enough to the “Game of Thrones” timeline for beloved characters from the show to appear. Jaime Lannister in all his swaggering glory plays a key role in this competition, as does Ned Stark and Jon Snow’s parents, Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark.  In fact, several crucial scandals and mysteries of “Game of Thrones” take place at this tourney.  Characters such as Arya, Sansa and Daenerys are too young to appear in the play, but the Lannisters and older Starks and Targaryens are all fair game. It’s unlikely that any of the show’s actors could resume their roles, since Jaime Lannister is a teenager during this time — and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, while a dashing silver fox at 50, can’t pass as a teen. So expect new actors playing beloved fan-favorite characters.
********Of course, the actors will change as they kill them off for real!! Live.. onstage!!
*****If they don’t do something shocking, it won’t be “Game Of Thrones!!”
********Why not make it a musical??? Can you think of a word that rhymes with “defestration??”

Alex Trebek’s Daughter Hasn’t Watched Jeopardy

The adopted daughter of the late, great Alex Trebek spoke publicly Tuesday for the first time since her father’s death in November, detailing how difficult it’s been to watch the stream of guest hosts stand in at her father’s podium.  “To me it was his show, and it’s difficult for me to carry on on the show,” said Nicky Trebek, the daughter of Trebek and his first wife Elaine Callei in an emotional interview on “CBS This Morning.”  The show has welcomed guests from broadcaster Katie Couric to Aaron Rodgers before they make an announcement on a permanent host. And the rotation hasn’t always been smooth sailing. On Monday, Dr. Mehmet Oz began his two-week stint guest-hosting the show, despite outcry from former contestants over his allegedly dubious medical claims.  Nicky, a singer and fashion designer who also worked on “Jeopardy!” on and off throughout the years but stopped around the time of Alex’s death, recalled her father’s final days on the show.  His last episode, filmed just a month before his death, was scheduled to air during the week of Christmas, but Sony pushed it back so fans could have more time to enjoy their final moments with Trebek.  “I drove him home on the last day of the last taping he was able to do,” she said before pausing to collect herself.

Ariana Grande is joining hit show “The Voice,” replacing Nick Jonas as a coach.  She will join the next season of the NBC show, Season 21, alongside regular coaches Blake Shelton, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson.  A source says “Ariana is a huge fan of The Voice and her management team has been negotiating to get her on the show for a while.  “She is replacing Nick Jonas, who is a [coach] on the current season, but he isn’t leaving for good. Nick will remain on rotation with other stars that have appeared on the show. The chances are he will be back soon.”  She has appeared on “The Voice” in the past, performing her hit “Into You” on the finale in 2016, but did not take part as a coach.  The battle rounds for the current Season 20 of “The Voice,” with coaches Clarkson, Jonas, Legend and Shelton, continue on Monday, April 5 and April 12 on NBC.

Stallone Shares Rocky Notes

A “time machine” television series about Rocky Balboa is in the works, according to hand-scrawled notes Sylvester Stallone posted on Instagram.  He shared photos of two pages of notes on Monday night, with the notepad header “Treatment for Rocky prequel series.”  “This may be the strangest posting yet,” Stallone wrote in the caption. “I started out this morning by writing a treatment for a Rocky prequel for streaming. Ideally 10 episodes for a few seasons to really get to the heart of the Characters in there [sic] younger years.  “Here is a small portion of how my creative writing Process starts … Hope it happens,” he revealed.  The first page shown sets the scene for readers: “Imagine a time machine that will simply transport us back to the origins of Rocky, a cinematic world brimming with characters that have been beloved by people around the world for nearly five decades!”  According to the notes, the origins story is set in the 1960s — what Stallone describes on the page as “the most transformative generation in modern history,” noting the era’s major milestones, including the moon landing, the civil rights movement and the Cold War.  See the pic HERE.

Meghan Markle Planning Home Birth

Meghan Markle is planning a home birth for her second child with Prince Harry at their Montecito estate.  She is expecting her daughter in early summer, royal sources tell us, and the baby will be the first-ever royal to be born in the US.  While pregnant with her son Archie, Markle initially dreamed of having a home birth at Frogmore Cottage, the UK home she shared with Harry, while attended by an all-female midwife team. But when Archie was a week overdue, Markle was taken to London’s private Portland hospital, where she gave birth in the early hours on May 6, 2019, with Harry by her side.  “Meghan’s plan was to have a home birth with Archie, but you know what they say about the best-laid plans,” a source told us. “In the end, her doctors advised her to go to hospital and all she was interested in was about delivering Archie safely.  The birth of the baby girl — who will become princess when her grandfather Prince Charles eventually ascends the throne — could not be more different from that of her brother.

Man Breaks Chess Record

An Idaho man said it took him a year and a half to develop the skills that allowed him to break the Guinness World Record for fastest time to arrange a chess set.  David Rush, who has broken more than 150 Guinness World Records to promote STEM education, said he began training for the record about a year and a half earlier, but couldn’t seem to get close to the 31.55-second record without dropping, knocking over or misplacing the pieces of the chess set.  Rush said his interest was recently reignited by Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit, and after a few more practice sessions he was able to place the pieces — using only one hand, in accordance with Guinness rules — in 30.31 seconds.  See the video HERE.

Loose Baboon!

Animal rescuers in South Africa are warning residents in the Johannesburg area to steer clear of a loose baboon wandering into urban neighborhoods.  The baboon has been spotted wandering loose in suburbs including Emmarentia, Northcliff and Roosevelt Park, and witnesses reported the primate was seen perched on the roof of a local hospital.  Security company Suburban Control Center posted a video to Facebook showing the baboon climbing into a gated community in Roosevelt Park.  Cora Bailey, founder of rescue group Community Led Animal Welfare, or CLAW, said the male baboon likely left his troop when he came of age and now is searching for a new community.  “Baboons live in huge family groups and when the males become adults they cannot stay with the troop any longer. In order for genetic diversity, males leave the troop. Sometimes they are ousted, sometimes they leave on their own,” Bailey said in a statement provided to The South African.  See the video HERE.

Barbershop Offering Vaccinations

A Wisconsin barbershop is offering its customers something more than just a regular trim — it’s hosting a COVID-19 vaccination clinic.  Gee’s Clippers in Milwaukee held its first vaccine clinic Saturday, and more vaccines are planned to be administered on the next three Saturdays.  Gaulien “Gee” Smith, the shop’s owner, teamed up with Hayat Pharmacy to make vaccinations available to his customers.  “Come right to Gee’s Clippers, get a haircut and get a vaccine,” Smith told WDJT-TV. “A lot of clients have a better relationship with their barber than they do their physician. So what better place to have a vaccine administered than a barbershop?”  Dimmy Sokhal, a pharmacist with Hayat Pharmacy, said the barbershop is an ideal location for a vaccination clinic.  “People are familiar with the area. They have a beautiful room in the back for the wellness checks and everything, so we thought it would be great to have a clinic out here,” he said.

Mafia Fugitive Gets Caught on YouTube

Marc Feren Claude Biart got caught after spending seven years on the run, according to Calabria News – an Italian news outlet. Biart was hiding from national authorities for alleged drug trafficking, but was tracked down and arrested in the Dominican Republic on Wednesday.  He was found nearly 5,000 miles away from his hometown of Rome based on a cooking YouTube channel he launched with his wife in Boca Chica, a municipality near Santo Domingo –the Dominican Republic’s capital city.  Biart’s YouTube channel was not named, however, Calabria News described the channel as being focused on Italian cuisine.  Law enforcement officials were clued in that the YouTube channel belonged to Biart since the chef reviewed food while never revealing his face, the international report says. The body parts that were viewable revealed the mysterious chef had tattoos that matched what authorities had on record for the escaped mafia member.  Tracking down and arresting Biart was a group effort that included the Central Criminal Police Directorate, Interpol and multiple police forces from 10 countries.

STUFF THAT’S COOL AND VIRAL

VIDEO: KID PLAYS GUNS N ROSES ON CHEAP DRUMS.

A LIST FOR WEDNESDAY

Want To Avoid Raising Entitled Kids? Don’t Do These 4 Things.

Huffington Post

Mistake 1: Not actively teaching them how to cope with not getting their way or losing.

First, when it comes to keeping childhood entitlement in check, it’s important for parents of younger kids to be realistic, explains Aliza Pressman, co-founder of the Mount Sinai Parenting Center and host of the Raising Good Humans podcast. Children under the age of 4 haven’t developed what’s known as “theory of mind,” or the cognitive mechanism that allows us to attribute certain beliefs and feelings to ourselves and to others, she said. So it’s perfectly appropriate for them to be caught up in their own feelings and their own perspective, and pretty darn unlikely that they’re going to, say, stop whining about not getting to watch another episode of “Paw Patrol” because they understand in a broader sense how fortunate they are in their lives.

“If your brain isn’t cognitively ready to imagine someone else’s experience, it’s harder to have empathy,” said Pressman.

Yet it is important that as kids move from toddler-dom into the school-age years, parents actively teach them that they will not always get their way. Parents also should explain to children that not getting their way may feel bad, which is expected.

For example, when your child is shopping for a friend’s birthday present and they ask for a toy of their own, don’t give in, Pressman urged. Instead, maybe say something like: “We’re going into the store to buy a present for Billy. I know sometimes that can feel hard, and it’s hard to focus,” Pressman said. That’s it.

You’re giving them space to grapple with what it feels like to not get their way, and you’re showing them that you expect them to get through it. It can be a pretty powerful lesson, particularly when it’s repeated often as a natural part of growing up.

Mistake 2: Not giving them enough household responsibilities.

“Teaching responsibility is a huge, huge task of parenting,” Pressman said. And it’s a great antidote to entitlement, particularly when it comes to helping out around the home. The tasks don’t need to be huge, and this is a case where you can start pretty darn young.

“Have them bring their plate to the kitchen. Wipe down the table. You can do that when you’re 3,” she said. “Having age-appropriate chores is not burdensome; it shows that you’re a helpful member of the household.”

But even if they do complain, carry on. “I too do not like putting the dishes away!” Pressman said, chuckling. “Just because you don’t want to do it doesn’t mean you don’t have to.” Alas, estimates suggest that the number of children who regularly do chores is dropping. About 80% of parents had chores growing up, but only 30% make their children do them, according to a poll from Braun Research, a market research firm.

Fostering a sense of competence through some really basic responsibilities at home can help boost kids’ sense of confidence in a way that they carry with them throughout their lives, Pressman said — and research bears that out. One long-term study found that children who took part in basic household tasks when they were 3 and 4 years old had a higher sense of self-reliance and responsibility when they were adults.

Mistake 3: Being fuzzy on what your own boundaries are.

Boundaries are really important for raising non-entitled kids, Pressman said, and “if you notice that you’re inconsistent,” that’s a red flag.

But it’s hard to be consistent if you’re wishy-washy on what your boundaries actually are. So do a bit of a gut check: What are some of the lines you really want to hold? What boundaries are important to you (and your parenting partner, if you have one)? And how consistent are you really about keeping those boundaries in place? This can be for small daily habits to bigger expectations about how you’d like your child to behave as a citizen of the world.

“Of course if you’re exhausted, and you give in, you shouldn’t worry: ‘This child is going to become an entitled terror,’” Pressman said. “Think of it in a balanced way — and give yourself a break.”

Maybe you stick to your rules or boundaries 75% of the time, and then give yourself permission to cave 25% of the time when you’re exhausted and don’t want another battle, Pressman said — or again, whatever equation feels right to you. Just spend some time thinking about it, rather than flying on autopilot.

Also, consider that strictness can really help keep children’s sense of privilege in check, but you can be compassionate and strict at the same time.

“That expression: ‘You get what you get and you don’t get upset’? That’s bullshit!” Pressman said, chuckling. Your child might get upset, and that’s expected! Your job as a parent when you’re setting boundaries and sticking to them is to help them cope with the feelings of sadness or frustration or anger that might come up so they can do that throughout their lifetime.

Mistake 4: Failure to model the behavior you’d like to see.

“Modeling respect is a huge and important component of entitlement stuff,” Pressman said. Kids absolutely watch how their parents and caregivers behave toward others, and they do a major amount of learning that way.

“The first thing you always want to do is look at how you treat other people,” Pressman said. One simple gut check to keep in mind is to simply ask yourself: “Am I proud of how I’m behaving right now?” she suggested.

Again, parents are fallible. We’re all going to make mistakes. But our kids are watching, and they’re learning how to behave from us.
