Dr. Seuss Books Banned
Dr. Seuss Enterprises announced on Tuesday that it will cease publishing six titles from the author’s line of children’s books due to featuring portrayals of people that are hurtful and wrong. The announcement coincides with Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Dr. Seuss, born Theodor Seuss Geisel on March 2, 1904, died at the age of 87 in 1991. And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, If I Ran the Zoo, McElligot’s Pool, On Beyond Zebra!, Scrambled Eggs Super! and The Cat’s Quizzer are the the titles that will no longer be published. Dr. Seuss Enterprises says it arrived at the decision last year after working with a panel of experts, which included educators. “These books portray people in ways that are hurtful and wrong,” the company said in a statement. “Ceasing sales of these books is only part of our commitment and our broader plan to ensure Dr. Seuss Enterprises’s catalog represents and supports all communities and families,” the statement continued.

Will Smith May Run For Office
Will Smith isn’t ruling out running for political office “at some point.” He said in a new interview that he’s not opposed to entering the world of public office. “I think for now I’ll let that office get cleaned up a little bit and then I’ll consider that at some point down the line,” Smith said on the “Pod Save America Podcast.” He continued that he plans to “certainly do my part, whether it remains artistic or, or, at some point ventures into the political arena.” Smith also discussed his experiences with racism and shared that he has been called the N-word “fix or six times.” “Fortunately for my psyche, I’ve never been called N-word by a smart person. So I grew up with the impression that racists and racism are stupid and they are easy to get around, I just had to be smarter,” he shared. He said that once he started in Hollywood, he began to notice “a difference between ignorance and evil.” Smith is currently promoting his new Netflix series, “Amend: The Fight For America.”

Comic-Con To Remain Virtual
San Diego Comic-Con will remain virtual for the July event, but organizers are planning for a smaller-scale gathering later this year. Comic-Con announced Monday that the annual confab will return to virtual for a second-straight year between July 23-25. The in-person experience was canceled again due to coronavirus-related cautions around large gatherings. Organizers said postponements and other challenges caused by the pandemic left them with “limited financial resources.” As a result, the virtual convention in July was reduced from four to three days. However, organizers said they are planning a smaller in-person November event in San Diego. The details have not yet been released. Comic-Con attracts more than 135,000 people — often elaborately costumed — to the Gaslamp District every year for the comic book convention.

Golden Globe Ratings Way Down
Golden Globes viewership took a huge hit after its one-of-a-kind virtual ceremony on Sunday night. It turns out, even though most viewers were home anyway, they decided not to watch the 2021 show, as Nielsen ratings recorded a paltry 6.9 million viewers, Deadline reported on Tuesday. Viewership has gradually tanked for the ceremony. Last year’s awards show saw 18.3 million viewers, down 2% from 2019’s total viewership, according to Nielsen. Nothing has yet to top 2004, which had almost 27 million viewers. In the key demo of adults aged 18 to 49, the 2021 show notched a 1.5 rating, a new all-time low; the 2020 show had a 4.7 rating in that demo.
******When even the hosts are talking about how the show sucks, it’s not a good look!!
*****Also, it’s tough to attract an audience when you’re giving awards to shows that no one has seen!!
*******But if you turn the ratings upside down, the Globes were NUMBER ONE!!!!
Angelina Jolie Sells Winston Churchill Painting
Angelina Jolie sold off a Winston Churchill painting that Brad Pitt bought her as a gift for $11.5 million on Monday. The work was gifted to Jolie by her estranged husband Pitt, who bought it for $2.95 million in 2011 from a New Orleans antique dealer, M.S. Rau, we previously revealed. Reports on Monday said that the 1943 Churchill painting, “Tower of the Koutoubia Mosque,” sold for a record-breaking $11.5 million to a mystery Belgian bidder at Christie’s “Modern British Art Evening Sale” auction in London. The same bidder also bought two more Churchill works in the sale, the Art Newspaper reported. The painting — which shattered its estimate of $3.4 million — was sold via the Jolie Family Collection. Reps have not commented on why the movie star was selling off the gift from her ex. Jolie and Pitt’s divorce has been dragging on for years, ever since they announced their split in 2016. Seems art lover Pitt has a good eye: The previous record for a Churchill painting was reportedly around $2.5 million.
********It’s a nice painting… but did Churchill do any nudes???
INSIDERS SAY she’s only selling it to piss Brad off!!!!
Ellen Selling Beverly Hills Home
Ellen DeGeneres listed her gated Beverly Hills estate for $53.5 million on Monday. The ivy-covered Los Angeles estate was completely renovated last year “with incredible quality, style and taste,” according to the listing with Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency, who was not immediately available for comment. If it sells for its ask, or close to, it would mark a sizable windfall for Ellen and Portia de Rossi. They bought the home using a trust in May 2019 for $42.5 million from Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine. He had owned the five-bedroom home for a little over a year before handing over the keys. After buying it in March 2018 for $34 million, He spent a considerable sum updating the place. He remodeled the interiors and grounds and added new amenities, which in total set the star back about $8 million, Mansion Global previously reported.
*******The carpet has been chewed up pretty extensively, but other than that..
******Why keep a house in Beverly Hills, when you have a nice house next to Meghan and Harry in Santa Barbara??
*******It’s a beautiful home, but it’s a booger to keep it clean!!
******When you look at that price, you also factor in about a million a year for staff to work on it!!
Alec Baldwin Claps Back At Online Poster
Alec and Hilaria Baldwin are keeping quiet on the details surrounding the birth of baby No. 6, though many assume the couple used a surrogate or adopted, as 37-year-old Hilaria gave birth to their fifth child, Edu, in September. A fan took to the comments section of Alec’s photo post and asked Alec to provide an explanation, otherwise it appears that they’re “begging for clickbait.” “Who’s the mother? She wasn’t pregnant. She gave birth six months ago. If it was a surrogate just say that,” the commenter wrote. “If the baby was adopted just say that. If the baby was the product of an affair and you’ve decided to raise it with your wife just say that. If you don’t want to say anything – why don’t you both stop constantly posting and begging for clickbait. Just raise you 100 children in private.” Angry Alec snapped back. “You should shut the f–k up and mind your own business,” he wrote. Another commenter brought up Hilaria’s Spanish-heritage scandal and wondered why anyone cared that the yoga instructor, born Hillary Hayward Thomas, changed her name. “Because, basically, they’re not very smart,” Alec responded. “Americans are people who know less about how to live a peaceful, healthy life than most of the civilized world.”
******Wow… you’re mad, so insult the whole country??? Typical!!

Patricia Drives Stake Thru Marriage To Vamp James-(National Enquirer)
Former fashion design student Patricia Rahman, 35, spiked her decade-long marriage to “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” actor James Marsters, 58, by filing for divorce in L.A. shortly after their tenth anniversary. Patricia and James, who’s best known for playing vamp Spike on the TV series and its spinoff “Angel,” have no children-although he has a 24-year-old son from a prior marriage.

Leighton & Adam: Making Waves-(Us Weekly)
There’s no other way Leighton Meester and Adam Brody would’ve rather celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary on Feb. 15 than surfing. “We’re just beach bums,” the actor, 41, said in a recent interview. “A big part of our quarantine life is that my wife and I have been surfing our brains out.” While Brody has been riding a board since childhood, he noted that the actress, 34, is “relatively new” to the sport “but is very dedicated.”
George & Brad: The Breaking Point-(Star)
It was everyone’s favorite Hollywood bromance. After hitting it off while making Ocean’s 11 in the early 2000s, on-and off-screen partners in crime Brad Pitt and George Clooney were soon partying at George’s Lake Como Italian estate, tooling around town on their motorcycles and engaging in legendary prank wars. “Brad is one of the great guys,” a gushing George once said in an interview. “We’re good friends.” How times have changed. According to sources, the former A-list pals, who traded charming barbs about their relative sex appeal on countless red carpets, have barely spoken over the past eight years. “It’s sad, but Brad and George have definitely gone their separate ways,” says a Brad insider, noting that Brad’s ex-wife Angelina Jolie played a big party in the demise of their friendship. “It all stems back to when Brad was with Angie,” says the insider. “She never really liked George, and she always thought he was a bad influence.” The final straw? “Amal found Angelina unbearable,” says a source. “And that was kind of the point of no return for Brad and George.” [Brad and Angie] were no shows at the Clooney’s Italian nuptials.

“You don’t know how good you’re going to be of a parent. I got some nice advice from Natalie Portman, who was like, ‘You have more instincts than you know you have.’ And what I’m finding is that Natalie Portman is a huge liar.”-Amy Schumer, insisting her instincts with 21-month-old Gene are “all dead wrong.”
Skeet Ulrich & Lucy Hale: New Couple-(People)
The Riverdale actor, 51, and the Pretty Little Liars star, 31, shared a kiss during a cozy Feb. 21 date at Sweet Butter in Sherman Oaks, Calif. “They were super into one another,” says a source.

French Bulldog Found In Mexico
A French bulldog that went missing from his family’s home in California’s Bay Area was found four weeks later after being purchased by a man 600 miles away in Mexico. Debbie Campbell said Brody, her emotional support dog, went missing from her San Lorenzo home Feb. 3, and despite searches of the area and photos posted by her family to social media, weeks passed without any news of her lost pet. Campbell said she was shocked to receive a phone call last week from Benjamin Gonzalez, a man who said he bought a dog matching Brody’s description from a man on the street in downtown Tijuana, 600 miles from the Bay Area. Gonzalez said family members who live in the Bay Area told him the dog he purchased looked like photos of a lost dog they had seen on social media. Gonzalez sent Campbell a photo of Brody’s identifying tattoo, confirming the canine’s identity. The Campbells said they don’t know for sure how Brody ended up in Mexico, but they suspect he was intentionally stolen to be resold due to the breed’s popularity and high price tag.

Cat Rescued From A Tree
Firefighters in Utah said they used a ladder to rescue a cat that had been stuck in a high branch of a tree. The Weber Fire District said a member of the public visited Station 66 and told firefighters the feline had been stranded for at least four days. The district shared photos showing the firefighters using a ladder to reach the cat and bring it back to solid ground. “The cat ran off to get some much needed food and water,” officials wrote. Half Marathon Record
A Texas woman broke a Guinness World Record for most half marathons run on consecutive days when she ran a full marathon followed by 14 days of half marathons. Andrea Amaro, a mixed martial arts fighter and behavioral health assistant at Rio Vista Behavioral Health Hospital, said she started her record attempt with a full 26.2 mile run at the El Paso Marathon and followed it up by running 13.1 miles each day for the next 14 days, which ended Sunday. Amaro said she was left in so much pain after the first marathon that her first half-marathon involved a lot of limping. “I don’t think there was a day that went by where I thought I don’t know how I’m going to get through this,” Amaro told KVIA-TV. Amaro is submitting evidence from her runs to Guinness World Records to be officially recognized as the record holder for the most half marathons run on consecutive days. She said her aim with the record attempt was to raise awareness of mental health issues.

Alligator Heads Seized
Eighty alligator heads have been seized after a police search of a house in Birmingham. West Midlands Police said the raid took place at a property in Perry Barr on Thursday morning. The joint investigation involved officers from the National Wildlife Crime Unit (NWCU) and the force’s wildlife crime officer volunteers. A statement said: “We received information that the heads were being imported from abroad illegally and sold on through eBay to buyers all around the world at a large profit to the seller. “We carried out a joint investigation with the NWCU and believe the suspect has been illegally importing the heads for some time, with regular sales being seen on eBay.” See the pic HERE.

7 Little Things You Can Do When You’re Feeling Pandemic Burnout
Huffington Post
- Pinpoint what’s causing the burnout so you can address the root issue.
Maybe it’s being isolated from your friends or the fact that you’ve been stuck in your tiny apartment for months on end. Maybe it’s trying to work from home while taking care of your kids — or something else entirely.
“Once you have a sense of what’s causing the burnout, you can take the appropriate steps to improve the negative feelings,” said Samantha Elkrief, a therapist and health coach in New York City.
Then focus on tackling whatever element you’re struggling with most. For example, if you need a break from the constant togetherness with your family, maybe you could coordinate something with them so you can have a night to yourself.
“One patient I work with has taken turns with his wife the past two weekends because they were both short on alone time after a year working from home and homeschooling two young children,” Elkrief said.
If you’re craving connection and a new experience, plan an online activity that isn’t the same ol’ virtual happy hour you were doing last spring.
“My friends and I had some fun Zoom cocktail hours and then a few months in, we just burned out on connecting by video,” said Nicole O-Pries, an LGBTQ+ therapist in Virginia. “Instead of just giving up, we took an inexpensive online art class with an instructor in Spain. Our relationships were fostered while experiencing an opportunity to try something new and creative.”
- Incorporate more pleasure into your life.
Chances are, pleasure is sorely lacking in your life these days — and no, we don’t just mean sex (though that totally counts, too). We’re talking about any feel-good experience, however small, that helps you slow down and savor the moment.
“If you usually take quick showers, but a long, luxurious shower would bump your pleasure up from a 5 to a 6, go for it!” says Lauren Donelson, who is training to be a therapist.
“Check in with yourself and rate your current level of pleasure from 1 to 10,” said Lauren Donelson, a Seattle writer and astrologist who’s training to be a therapist. “See what you could do to increase that even by one number. For example, if you usually take quick showers, but a long, luxurious shower would bump your pleasure up from a 5 to a 6, go for it!”
- Shake up your routine.
The schedule you established early on in the pandemic may have given those confusing days and weeks some much-needed structure while providing a sense of normalcy. Now, that same routine may feel stale and monotonous, which could be contributing to your state of apathy.
“If you have the option, try changing one or two aspects of your routine for some freshness,” Donelson said. “For example, if you always make coffee at home, get coffee from a coffee shop once a week. A little bit of novelty can go a long way.”
- Make plans for the future.
Now that the vaccine rollout is underway, there’s finally some light at the end of the tunnel. While we still have a ways to go before we can let our guards down, we can, at least, begin to plan — or at least dream — about what we’ll do when it’s safe again.
“That might include booking a vacation for a certain date in the future that seems reasonable to imagine being feasible,” O-Pries said. “Or you might simply begin to save for the vacation and start doing your research on all the details of your future trip.”
She also suggested creating a vision board to create some healthy anticipation.
“This situation is temporary, and we need some visual reminders to help us remember that is the case,” O-Pries said.
- Carve out more time for rest.
Sleep is essential to our mental and physical well-being, but being truly rested goes beyond how many hours of shuteye you get each night. According to physician and researcher Saundra Dalton-Smith, there are seven different types of rest: physical rest (like sleep or restorative activities like stretching), mental rest (like taking breaks from work), sensory rest (like turning off the lights or disconnecting from our devices), creative rest (like soaking up the beauty of nature or listening to music that inspires you), emotional rest (like saying “no” or being honest about how you really feel), social rest (like limiting your interactions with people who drain you) and spiritual rest (like praying or meditating).
“With pandemic burnout, we need a fresh new way to rest that’s more than deep breaths and adequate sleep,” said Dara Bu Elliott, a life and career coach at Wellspace SF in San Francisco.
If you need more physical rest, take a restorative yoga class instead of going on your morning run.
Reflect on which types of rest are lacking in your life. Then schedule a “rest date” with yourself, Elliott suggested. For example, if you need more physical rest, take a restorative yoga class instead of going on your morning run. If you need more sensory rest, dim the lights, close your laptop and sit in silence for a few minutes after you finish work for the day.
- Connect with your inner child.
Think back to what things used to light you up as a kid. How can you reintroduce some of those into your adult life?
“For example, if you loved playing soccer as a kid, get a soccer ball and play around at the park,” Donelson said. “I loved playing the piano as a kid, and I’ve been playing a lot since the pandemic. My inner child loves it.”
Sprinkle more of these joy-inducing activities or items into your week.
“Those past positive experiences are the fuel we need to climb out of burnout and to create new ones,” Crawford said.
- Talk to a therapist.
“Having someone there to focus on nothing but you can be a huge help,” says Samantha Elkrief, a therapist and health coach.
When left untreated, burnout can lead to clinical depression or other mental health conditions. If you’re struggling, consider making an appointment to connect with a mental health professional now. (And if cost is a concern, know that online therapy services, such as BetterHelp and Talkspace, tend to be more affordable options.)
“It’s normal for folks to be feeling burned out right about now. Having someone there to focus on nothing but you can be a huge help,” Elkrief said. “Mental health concerns are at an all-time high, so finding a therapist can be a great way to help manage feelings of burnout.”
