“Rust” Will Be Completed

Filming on the movie Rust, which was been suspended after star Alec Baldwin accidently shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set, will be completed, its co-producer predicted Monday.  Anjul Nigam told The Hollywood Reporter at the Cannes film marketplace that once a police investigation into the Oct. 21 shooting in New Mexico is completed, production on the low-budget western will resume.  “Rust is obviously a horrific tragedy,” Nigam said. “The investigation will hopefully be resolved soon and will unveil what happened. Obviously, there will be people out there who will have negative perspectives, but we’re confident about continuing to make quality movies.”  He added, “We’re confident we’ll be able to complete the movie.”

The Queen Makes Surprise Visit

Queen Elizabeth made a surprise visit to a train station in London to see a newly completed subway line named in her honor.  On Tuesday she was spotted at Paddington Station, where she unveiled a plaque stating she officially opened the Elizabeth Line. The reigning monarch wore a sunshine yellow outfit with a matching hat adorned with blue flowers. Beaming, she slowly walked with a cane in hand as she met with workers.  The queen, accompanied by her youngest son Prince Edward and Prime Minister Boris Johnson, was given an Oyster card and shown how to use it on a ticket machine.  “We’re all incredibly touched and moved and grateful to her Majesty for coming to open the Elizabeth Line today,” said Johnson, 57. “It was fantastic to see her.”  Buckingham Palace called the visit “a happy development,” noting that “the organizers were informed of the possibility she may attend.”  The new east-west train line will open to the public on May 24th.  The appearance marks the queen’s first one outside the Windsor area since she attended a memorial service for her late husband Prince Philip at central London’s Westminster Abbey seven weeks ago.

Amber Heard Confirms Aquaman 2 Role Cut Down

Amber Heard has confirmed under oath that her starring role in “Aquaman 2” has been drastically diminished.  She claimed during her contentious defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp that Warner Bros. “didn’t want to include me” in the DC Comics sequel, “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.”  Heard noted during the trial that she was “actively scheduling timing for filming” the superhero movie up until Depp’s legal team reportedly launched a campaign against her.  She noted in her testimony that “communications” about the movie “stopped at that point.”  “I was given a script and then given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes that had action in it, that depicted my character and another character, without giving any spoilers away, two characters fighting with one another, and they basically took a bunch out of my role,” she told the Fairfax, Virginia, courtroom. “They just removed a bunch out.”  “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” is set to be released on March 17, 2023.
**********It’s weird.. most companies don’t like putting unpopular actors in their movies!!!

We will be expanding our family soon.”  She announced Saturday that she and Asghari had lost their “miracle baby.”  “It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy,” read a joint statement posted on the couple’s Instagram feeds.

Bruckheimer Discusses Depp’s Pirate Future

Jerry Bruckheimer, who produced the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films, has reportedly had his say about Johnny Depp continuing to appear in the franchise.  Depp has portrayed Jack Sparrow in all five movies and Bruckheimer talked to The Times about whether Depp would return.  “Not at this point,” Bruckheimer said. “The future is yet to be decided.”  He confirmed that he is working on a sequel with a female lead.  “We’re talking to Margot Robbie,” he said. “We are developing two ‘Pirates’ scripts — one with her, one without.”   The last film was 2017’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.”

An Idaho man broke a Guinness World Record by running a half marathon while wearing 111 T-shirts.  David Rush, who has broken more than 200 Guinness World Records to promote STEM education, said it took about 25 minutes for his support team to dress him in the 111 shirts before Saturday’s YMCA Famous Idaho Potato Marathon at Lucky Peak State Park Sandy Point.  Rush completed the half marathon with a time of 2 hours, 47 minutes and 55 seconds, coming in under the 3-hour time limit set by Guinness World Records.  Rush’s run broke the Guinness World Record for most T-shirts worn during a half marathon. The previous record of 82 shirts was set by British runner David Smith in November 2021.

Sea Lion Makes Another Escape

SeaWorld Rescue in San Diego said a sea lion that made headlines for blocking a freeway in January is undergoing a behavior analysis after being rescued from a storm drain.  The rescue team said the sea lion, nicknamed Freeway after being rescued from Route 94 in downtown San Diego on Jan. 7, returned to SeaWorld’s custody after being spotted in a storm drain under the National City Bridge on April 7.  Rescuers said the storm drain would have led Freeway back to the same spot where he was rescued in January.  Freeway was previously rescued when he was found walking on to Harbor Island Drive in San Diego in November 2021.  SeaWorld said Freeway is now undergoing a behavioral analysis with veterinarians and marine experts to determine why the animal, estimated to be 10-13 years old, keeps wandering inland.
********Ever wonder whether animals have different IQ’s like people??
******Maybe he’s just a “stupid sea lion!!”

Getting Arrested Was On The Bucket List

Getting arrested was an item on the bucket list for 19-year-old Janiya Shaimiracle Douglas of Homestead, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office in Florida.  A sergeant spotted a Toyota driven by Douglas “speeding and driving recklessly”.  The sergeant turned on his lights and siren but says Douglas refused to stop.  Instead, she continued for a while before stopping at an intersection with a three-way stop.  That’s when Douglas allegedly told police that getting arrested “was on her bucket list since high school.”  Police obliged and arrested Douglas for fleeing and eluding police and then took her to the Monroe County Jail.  Police posted about the arrest on Facebook, where it garnered a lot of reaction.  “My bucket list is to make it to my death without getting arrested…so far so good….,” one person commented.  “Props for the honesty! Another reminder folks that the brain is not fully developed until age 25,” said another.
********Say what you will.. she’s reaching her goals!! How ’bout you???
*****Our bucket list is a little different!! We’d like to have a wooden bucket, a stainless steel bucket and a plastic bucket!!

Drunk Man Uses Blanket To Hide From Cops

An intoxicated Maine man was arrested for trespassing after trying to hide from police underneath a blanket, authorities said.  Officers responded to the Admiral Ocean Inn in Belfast for a report of a disturbance caused by a drunken man identified as Philip Dulude, the Belfast Police Department said.  Police removed Dulude from the property and told him not to return or else he’d be arrested.  When police performed a sweep of the parking lot around 12:40 a.m., police said they found someone hiding in a chair with a blanket draped over themselves.  Police pulled the blanket off to reveal Dulude hiding underneath it, according to authorities.  “Here at Belfast Police Department, we have seen some crafty ways of hiding from the police,” the department wrote on Facebook. “This unfortunately is not one of them.”

8 Cheap Grilling Ideas for Summer (The Penny Hoarder)

These expert tips should help you keep prices down while ramping up the flavor of your summer party food. And don’t mind us if we use the term “grilling” as an all-purpose cookout word. We know you do the same.

  1. Stick to the Basics When You Buy Accessories

Walk down any outdoor cooking aisle or peruse them online, and you’re bombarded with a trove of pricey accessories. Don’t be tempted! Ramsey and Lampe both said only a few items are really necessary for successful outdoor cooking.

For Ramsey, the only essential accessory is wood. Wood chips can enhance the flavor of the food you’re grilling or barbecuing.

Lampe’s go-to accessory is an instant read thermometer, which can be found at affordable prices. “We’ve learned that the internal temperature of meat is critically important for getting it done right. You don’t want to guess or go by time. If you buy an instant read thermometer, you won’t make mistakes,” said Lampe.

That means you can skip the basting brushes, rotisserie, grill brushes, trays, skewers, gloves and grilling shears.

  1. Consider These Factors When Buying a Grill or Barbecue

Want to fuel the fire among avid grillers and barbecue enthusiasts? Ask them whether they prefer a gas or charcoal grill or barbecue, then stand back and watch the sparks fly. But if you’re debating price, they’re both pretty affordable in our book.

If you don’t already have a grill or supplies such as charcoal, you can save money scoring them during the summertime holiday sales. Home improvement stores often have aggressive sales on charcoal, so stock up when the prices drop.

To Lampe, quality is key and he advises choosing a grill that fits with what you want to cook. “Look for one that’s made well. It’s something you’re going to use a lot and it will last you years if you choose a good one. So think of it as a good investment,’’ Lampe said. “Open it up and take a look inside. See what the mechanics of it look like. If it’s steel, is it heavy duty steel? If it feels cheap, it probably is. Look for one that’s made better.”

  1. Turn Your Grill Into a Barbecue or Smoker

Do you crave that extra smoky flavor you can only achieve by slow cooking with indirect heat? Barbecues or smokers can be expensive, but if you have a charcoal or gas grill it’s possible to reach smoky nirvana without an additional pricey appliance.

According to Lampe, “If you’ve got a grill and you’re curious about smoking, there’s all kinds of ways to get that wood flavor, even on a gas grill.”

In order to mimic a barbecue, you’ll need to learn about hot and cold zones and make use of things like wood chips, smoking liquids and water pans depending on whether you’re using a gas grill or a charcoal grill for your faux barbecue. The methods are slightly different, but with both you can be on your way to a delicious barbecue without the price tag.

  1. Explore Meatless Options

In addition to finding bargains on meat (more on that later), “you could cook vegetables too,” Lampe said. With meat prices soaring, it’s a great time to spice up your cookout with meatless fare, especially if you’re cooking for lots of guests.

Veggie sides are even more delicious on the grill, like this mushroom antipasto salad from Epicurious. But vegetables can also be the star of your main dish. For the budget griller and barbecuer, these 38 veggie entrees from My Recipes are sure to please. Don’t shy away from fruit either, which is made sweeter when it’s grilled. Serve grilled peaches and pineapple with pork chops.

Veg Out Magazine has a list of plant-based options like Beyond Burgers ideal for grilling or barbecuing, though they can be pricey. Watch for sales and use that freezer.

  1. Grind Your Own Food and Shop Sales

Many pay extra for those premade patties and prepackaged cuts. Not Lampe, who advises making your own patties, shopping the sales or, better yet, grinding your own meat. They will all cost less.

“Look for ground beef when it’s on sale or if you have the ability to grind it yourself, you can make really great ground beef,” he said. Cheap meat grinders run from $15 to $40, while a high-end one costs about $200. It could be a worthy investment, especially if you’re going for expert griller status.

  1. Look for Less Expensive Cuts

Keep an eye out for less expensive cuts like beef back ribs or chuck eye steak.

As for your non-burger meats? Lampe advises looking out for pork loin, and recommends using a brine. “Don’t be afraid to grab chicken and turkey. Turkey is a great value in the barbecue pit and on the grill,” he said.

  1. Make Your Own Rubs and Sauces

Making a delicious rub or BBQ sauce is easier than you think. In fact, you might already have the typical ingredients like salt, pepper, mustard, ketchup and vinegar in your kitchen.

“On a budget, all you need is wood, ketchup and vinegar. For sauce, the one must-have ingredient is vinegar,” Ramsey said.

Lampe also advises keeping it simple. “If you’re looking to make a simple rub on a budget, you can rob the spice cabinet for a little salt, sugar, pepper and some flavor. Paprika is nice because it adds color to the food. Don’t be afraid to experiment,” he said.

So, skip store bought and get creative. The best part — you control the quality of the ingredients and the flavors! You can start by browsing these 17 rub recipes and these 24 homemade BBQ sauce recipes.

  1. Don’t Let Anything Go to Waste

Kitchen food waste is a big, wasteful deal in the U.S. Using everything you have can mean big savings — and delicious meals — when it comes to grilling.

There’s a whole world of unusual foods you can grill to prevent food waste and liven up a backyard shindig. Bacon-wrapped asparagus? Yes, please. Wrap the traditional ingredients for a Cajun boil in foil and let them tramp over an open fire. Pizza can get the grill treatment, too.

Now there’s only one thing left to do: Crack open a cold brewski and bask in the tradition of the outdoor cookout.
