Migos Rapper Shot and Killed

Migos rapper Takeoff was killed early Tuesday in a shooting at a Houston bowling alley.  The 28-year-old rapper, born Kirshnik Khari Ball, was attending a private party at 810 Billiards & Bowling when police responded to reports of a shooting around 2:40 a.m., KPRC 2 TV in Houston reported.  Police found a man mortally wounded by a gunshot to the head or neck. He died at the scene. Two others were wounded and taken to a hospital.  Migos was known for such singles as “Bad and Boujee” featuring Lil Uzi Vert, “MotorSport” featuring Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, “Stir Fry,” “Narcos” and “Straghtenin.”  Takeoff and Quavo released songs, including “Hotel Lobby” and “Unc and Phew,” as a duo this year amid rumors that Migos was headed for a split.

More Records For Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift has become the first artist to ever sweep all Top 10 spots on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.  All 10 songs come from Swift’s latest album Midnights, which was released on Oct. 21, according to Billboard.  Her song “Anti-Hero” took the top spot to replace Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ “Unholy.”  It is Swift’s ninth chart-topping song, after hits such as “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space” and “Bad Blood.”  The Midnights album also ranked in the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart with the biggest week for any release since Adele’s 25 was released seven years ago. It is also the most-streamed album in a single day on Spotify and Apple Music.  With her record-setting sweep on the Hot 100 chart, Swift broke the record previously set by Drake, who took nine of the Top 10 spots on the chart last year.  Billboard noted that Swift, with 40 songs that have placed in the Top 10, now also holds the most high-ranked songs among women artists in the chart’s history — passing Madonna’s accomplishment of 38 songs.  She now trails only Drake, who has had 59 songs in the Top 10.

Meghan Markle Opens Up Morning Routine With Kids

Meghan Markle opened up about her chaotic morning routine with husband Prince Harry and their two children.  “I’m sure it’ll only get more chaotic as they get older,” she explained during the Tuesday, “Archetypes” podcast, while speaking about being a wife and mother with guest Pamela Adlon. “But for me, it’s, you know, both monitors on for the kids to hear them, always up with Lili, get her downstairs, then a half hour later, Archie’s up. I start doing his lunchbox right before he’s up while I have her, getting her a little nibble. My husband’s helping me get him downstairs.”  She continued: “I make breakfast for all three of them. It’s very important to me. I love doing it. To me, it just feels like the greatest way to start the morning.”  Markle added that after feeding the family’s three dogs, Guy, Pula and Mia, she gets 3-year-old son Archie ready to go to school. “It does, it feels like a whirlwind,” she said, noting that Harry is “great” about helping with the kids. Adding to the chaos is the fact that Lili, 16 months, has “just started walking,” as Markle said. “She’s a year and a couple of months old [and] in the thick of it — toddling.”

Kanye’s Fan Start A GoFundMe Page

Kanye West’s fans started a GoFundMe campaign to make the embattled rapper a billionaire again.  Supporters launched several pages — one succinctly being named “Make Kanye West a Billionaire Again” with a fundraising goal of $1 billion — after West’s net worth took a serious hit last week when Adidas dropped him.  That specific fundraiser only raised $5 and has since been taken down, as have copycats that popped up in its place, AllHipHop reported.  Dozens of people have since promoted their own GoFundMe pages encouraging others to make them billionaires instead of West.  A fan previously started a GoFundMe page to raise $53 million for the Grammy winner after he claimed in 2016 that he was in debt for that amount. The fan, Jeremy Piatt, crowdsourced $57,398, but West declined the funds. The money was instead donated to Notes for Notes, a music charity.

Mariah Carey rushed to social media the minute Halloween was over as she welcomed Nov. 1 with a fun seasonal post.  She shared a 30-second clip on her Twitter and Instagram accounts, in which she’s seen riding a Peloton bike while decked out in Halloween gear.  As the calendar flips to Nov. 1, Carey is instantly seen dressed in a festive outfit as the opening of her iconic Yuletide track “All I Want For Christmas Is You” plays in the background.  “It’s time,” she teases in the clip, officially marking the end of the spooky season and the unofficial start of the festive one.  The hit song has already found its way back into the US iTunes Top 100 charts just hours after midnight.

Matthew Perry Had A Dark Sex Secret

Matthew Perry thought for “years” that his “penis didn’t work” — until Carrie Fisher’s half-sister Tricia Fisher changed his mind.  He recalled in his memoir, “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing,” how he “tried to have sex” as a teenager but “couldn’t perform” as he drank “six beers beforehand.”  Instead of making “the correlation between the booze and [his] private parts,” he considered himself “impotent.”  Perry — who said he started abusing alcohol as a teenager — wrote, “I was walking around the planet thinking sex was something for other people. For a long time.  Sex sounded awfully fun, but it was not in my arsenal.”  However, when he began dating Fisher, now 53, and told her about his “shameful tale,” she reassured him that his arousal problems weren’t “going to happen again” and “led [him] back to bed.”  “Sure enough… sheer glory for two whole minutes,” he quipped in the book.  Perry joked that he repaid the actress for her kindness by “sleeping with almost every woman in Southern California.”

Missing King Cobra Returns Home

The venomous king cobra that escaped at a Swedish aquarium returned to its terrarium on its own after about a week on the loose, officials said.  The Skansen Aquarium in Stockholm said in a Facebook post that the cobra, named Sir Vas, or Sir Hiss, before being rebranded Houdini due to its Oct. 22 escape from its terrarium through a light fixture, was found to have returned to its terrarium Sunday after over a week of evading capture.  Officials said they do not believe the snake left the building during its time on the loose and was repeatedly spotted by searchers, but they were never able to catch up to the evasive serpent.  The aquarium said the terrarium has now been secured and Houdini will return to public display Monday.

State Removing Vulgar License Plates

Maine is enforcing new rules to eliminate f-bombs and other obscenities that appeared on vanity license plates after the state effectively eliminated its review process.  The state began issuing recall letters this month, with a handful each day. It’ll take a couple of months to complete the process.  Secretary of State Shenna Bellows is passionate about free speech as a former director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Maine. But she said obscenities should not be on license plates, which are state property.  “What I would say to those who want to engage in objectionable or questionable speech: Get a bumper sticker,” she said.  It’s a bit of a headscratcher how a bunch of descendants of Puritans in a New England state ended up putting some of the raunchiest messages on state-issued license plates.  It started when state lawmakers all-but-eliminated the review in 2015 after a lawsuit successfully targeted neighboring New Hampshire’s restrictions on vanity license plates.  In Maine, there are about 124,000 vanity license plates on the roads in a state with about 1.3 million residents. Previous estimates suggested 400 offensive plates could be subject to recall, and nearly 40 recall letters had been issued as of midweek, officials said.

Famous Painting Was Hanging Upside Down For Years

A painting by the renowned Dutch artist Piet Mondrian has been hanging upside down in art galleries for 75 years, according to an art historian, per The Guardian.  The 1941 abstract painting “New York City 1” is typical of the neoplastic style — adhesive-tape lines in primary colors cross each other to create rectangles.  The artwork was first displayed at New York’s MoMA in 1945, but it has been displayed at the art collection of the German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia in Dusseldorf since 1980.  For decades, the picture has been hung to show the yellow, red, and blue thickening at the bottom. It was assumed by art historians to represent a skyline.  However, curator Susanne Meyer-Büser told The Guardian that she realized this was a mistake when researching a new show, Evolution, which opens in Dusseldorf on Saturday.  “The thickening of the grid should be at the top, like a dark sky,” said Meyer-Büser, per The Guardian. “Once I pointed it out to the other curators, we realized it was very obvious. I am 100% certain the picture is the wrong way around.”

7 Habits That Will Drastically Improve Your Energy Levels



Identify healthy ways to cope with stress.

Unsurprisingly, emotional stress can leave you feeling less lively.  “Stress has a huge impact on your physical well-being. If you are feeling elevated levels of stress, it can absolutely contribute to low energy,” Dr. Nina Vasan, chief medical officer at mental wellness app Real, told HuffPost.  So, how can you combat unchecked stress to boost your energy levels? Vasan explained that it’s crucial to “find ways to integrate meditation or mindfulness into your daily life,” even for just five minutes each day. Experts also say that identifying coping skills that work for you — such as journaling or reading something that brings you joy — can help you destress and feel more energetic.


Limit the amount of caffeine you consume.

When you’re feeling tired, it may be tempting to make a third or fourth cup of coffee later in the day to perk back up. However, drinking too much caffeine can have a paradoxical effect, leaving you lethargic.  “If you’re consuming large amounts of caffeinated beverages throughout the day, it is probably going to affect your sleep pattern. This can then affect your energy levels,” Tallia said.  It’s important to note that suddenly cutting back on caffeinated beverages can also leave you feeling tired at first. As Tallia explained, “the body gets used to caffeine as a stimulant, and when it’s not present, you can experience an energy slump.”

Most experts suggest gradually reducing the amount of caffeine in your diet until you find what works best for you — and not reaching for that extra cup of Joe even when you’re feeling tempted.


Practice good sleep hygiene and establish a routine.

It goes without explaining that catching enough Zzzs is key to boosting your energy throughout the day. However, your energy levels are not just impacted by the amount of sleep you get each night, but by the quality of that sleep.  Practicing good sleep hygiene can help you snooze more soundly, and in turn give you more pep in your step the following day. Sleep hygiene involves adopting habits such as developing a regular bedtime routine and dimming the lights at night. What’s more, Tallia said it’s important to clear your mind by doing nighttime activities that you find relaxing.  Even when practicing good sleep hygiene, you may find you’re waking up feeling fatigued. Raelene Brooks, the dean of the College of Nursing at University of Phoenix, said that could point to a sleep disorder such as sleep apnea. If you suspect you have a sleep disorder, don’t hesitate to pay your physician a visit.


Move your body throughout the day.

Try to incorporate exercise into your day — even just a small amount. Research has shown that daily exercise and movement are essential to boosting energy levels. You don’t have to be lifting weights or running five miles a day to glean the energizing benefits of exercise.  “Even low-impact movement is shown to increase your oxygen flow and hormone levels, which give you a boost of energy,” Vasan explained. “It is the No. 1 tip I recommend to anyone feeling fatigued.”


Drink more water.

Dehydration is a common cause of low energy. According to Brooks, the science behind this is quite straightforward: “Our red blood cells carry oxygen. Ideally, a plump and round red blood cell allows for a full oxygen-carrying capacity,” she said. “When we are dehydrated, the red blood shrinks and this decreases the capacity for the cell to carry a full load of oxygen. Low oxygen levels are manifested by fatigue, irritability and restlessness.”

If you struggle with being mindful of your water intake, consider trying hacks such as investing in a smart water bottle to ensure you’re drinking enough H2O every day.


Be mindful of your screen time during the evening hours, and also during the day.

It almost goes without saying that excessive screen time at night can mess with your natural sleep cycle and energy the following day. As Vasan explained, “spending too much time on your phone, computer or watching your TV can cause fatigue by disrupting the neurotransmitters that are essential for sleep and restoration.”  However, the time you spend looking at your phone or computer during the day can also have a harmful impact on your energy levels. Too much screen time can lead to eye fatigue, which may trigger headaches and make it more difficult to concentrate.

We live in a digital world, so spending extensive time looking at a screen is unavoidable for most people. Making the “20-20-20 rule” a habit is a step towards tackling tiredness. According to Harvard Business Review, “when you’re working on a laptop, take a break every 20 minutes. Look at an object 20 feet away for 20 seconds to give your eyes a chance to relax.”


Avoid skipping meals.

If you ever skipped breakfast or worked right through your lunch break, you probably noticed you feel groggier than usual. While it’s totally normal to miss a meal, making a goal to regularly eat nutrient-rich meals and snacks throughout the day can increase your energy levels.  “Your brain needs nutrition to really function appropriately,” Tallia said. “A lot of people skip meals, and their blood sugar levels are going up and down all through the day.”

Moreover, Tallia said to steer clear of fad diets that encourage people to majorly cut back on caloric intake or to eliminate essential nutrient groups like carbohydrates. This can deprive you of energy.  While it’s not uncommon to wake up feeling low on energy every once and a while, chronic fatigue could point to an underlying health issue.  “If you are eating well, getting enough sleep, integrating movement and exercise into your daily life but still feel tired for more than two weeks, you should consider reaching out to a medical professional,” Vasan said, explaining that a consistent drop in energy “can be an indicator of a host of mental and physical health issues ranging from fairly benign to severe.”  Ultimately, boosting your energy often comes down to taking inventory of different activities and current habits that could be draining you. Adopting just a few simple changes to your daily routine could be key to beating the fatigue once and for all.
