Chris Evans “Sexiest Man Alive”
Stephen Colbert announced Chris Evans as People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive on The Late Show. In a skit, Colbert said People were deciding between Last Week Tonight host John Oliver and Captain America actor Chris Evans. As Evans was announced, Oliver stomped out of the audience, yelling “He’s not even here! Recount! Stop the steal!” Evans sent a video to The Late Show, which featured Dwayne Johnson, 2016’s Sexiest Man Alive, presenting Evans with the title. Johnson said he is Sexiest Man Alive for life and joked he will share the title with Evans. Johnson then asked Evans to say something sexy, to which he replied, “Go vote tomorrow.” In an interview, Evans told People magazine that his mom will be so happy he has the title. “She’s proud of everything I do but this is something she can really brag about,” he said.

King Charles Didn’t Know Meghan Was Biracial
King Charles was reportedly unaware that his daughter-in-law Meghan Markle was biracial upon meeting her, a new book has claimed. Author Christopher Andersen details her first meeting with the royals in his book, “The King: The Life of Charles III.” Prince Harry first introduced Markle to Charles and Camilla in 2016 after Harry’s trip to Botswana. Charles reportedly remarked how she looked like Kate Middleton’s sister, Pippa. “At the time, Prince Charles had no idea that Harry’s new girlfriend was biracial,” Andersen wrote. “Not that it would have mattered at all, of course,” Charles reportedly told an American friend. “But no, I didn’t realize that until later.” Andersen said Charles found Markle to be “completely charming” and “absolutely delightful.” The book — which discusses an alleged history of racism in the royal family — comes after Meghan and Harry made their own claims of racism against family members. The author claims that the late Queen Elizabeth was not prejudiced, although her late husband Prince Philip used the N-word 50 years prior. The book stated: “For her part, the Queen, who experienced countless up-close-and-personal encounters with people of all races, ethnicities, and religions during her record-breaking reign, appeared utterly devoid of prejudice.” “Not once had she ever been heard to make a racially insensitive comment,” the author noted.

Ozzy Changes His Mind About Leaving The U.S.
Ozzy Osbourne has revealed that he no longer wants to relocate back to his native United Kingdom, months after claiming he and wife Sharon Osbourne would move back. “To be honest with you, if I had my way, I’d stay in America,” Ozzy admitted to Consequence magazine. “I’m American now… to be honest with you, I don’t want to go back. F— that.” Sharon also discussed how California, the state in which they live, is “not what it once was.” “When I first came here, I thought I was in heaven,” Sharon said. “In the ‘70s, if you loved music, this was the place to be. It’s not that hub anymore. It’s not exciting anymore. It hasn’t gone sideways, it’s gone down. It’s not a fun place to live. It’s dangerous here. Meghan Markle spoke about being called a b—- and what it really means during the latest episode of her podcast. Tuesday’s episode of “Archetypes” featured a conversation about the “slur” with comedian Robin Thede and others. “It’s just, it’s one of those labels that feels like it’s thrown around constantly,” Markle explained. “And while its usage certainly has undertones that say a lot about the person who’s speaking, there’s still a specific type of woman who tends to be the recipient…” “Even in 2022 and beyond, it’s still just used to describe a woman who goes after what she wants, who has an opinion that’s different from a man’s, you know, who turns you down at the club,” Thede added. “In other words… I think what Robin’s getting at – and what these people are implying when they use that very charged word – is that this woman… oh, she’s difficult,” Markle said in a voiceover. “Which is really just a euphemism, or probably not even a euphemism, it’s really a code word for the b-word.” Markle also noted that calling a woman the “b-word” can be a “deflection.” “So perhaps the truth is… that labeling a woman as the b-word, or as difficult – is often a deflection,” she further explained. “A way to hide some of her really awesome qualities: her persistence, her strength, her perseverance, her strong opinion, maybe even her resilience.”

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have an “amazing” co-parenting relationship with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner. She told “Vogue” in her December cover story, published Tuesday, that her husband and Garner “work well together” while raising Violet, 16, Seraphina, 13, and Samuel, 10. She shares two children of her own — twins Emme and Maximilian, 14 — with her ex-husband Marc Anthony. Blending their families since their July wedding “needs to be handled with so much care,” Lopez went on to tell the magazine. “They have so many feelings. Reaper Chilies Record
A California man with a passion for hot peppers earned his latest Guinness World Records title by eating 10 Carolina reaper chilies — the hottest peppers in the world — in 33.15 seconds. Gregory Foster completed the mouth-scorching challenge in San Diego about nine months after earning another Guinness World Records title by eating three Carolina reapers in 8.72 seconds. Carolina reapers, first grown by Ed Currie of the PuckerButt Pepper Company, are known as the hottest chilies in the world, registering 1,641,183 Scoville Heat Units, the method used to calculate the spiciness of food. Jalapeno peppers, by comparison, typically measure 2,000 to 8,000 Scoville Heat Units. “The good thing about reapers is the really bad heat doesn’t kick in for about 30 seconds or so,” Foster told Guinness World Records. “It’s when I stand up and start chugging milk and water and everything, to go through the post competition phase, that the heat really kicks in.” See the video HERE.

Dog Leads To Burglary Suspect
A Florida man walking his dog Tuesday morning led deputies to an injured burglary suspect after spotting a trail of blood leading inside his neighbor’s home, authorities said. The dog walker told deputies that he discovered his neighbor’s windows were smashed and that there appeared to be blood on the front door, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said. Responding deputies entered the home and found a man, later identified as 32-year-old Jonathan Leaf, lying on a bed covered in blood, according to authorities. Leaf woke up as deputies were inside and told them he “was unsure of the previous night’s events,” the sheriff’s office said. Deputies said Leaf had apparently decided to break a large bay window to gain entry to the house. “During his attempts to get inside, Leaf’s arm was severely cut by the broken glass, leading to his trail of blood across the front of the residence and on the interior,” the sheriff’s office said. The severe pain and loss of blood likely caused Leaf to pass out on the bed until deputies arrived, according to authorities.

Don’t Lick The Toad
The US National Park Service is warning visitors to stop licking one of America’s largest toads. The potentially deadly Sonoran Desert Toad, also known as the Colorado River toad, excretes a toxin which can harm humans and some say it has psychedelic effects. In a Facebook post, the service warned people to “refrain from licking” the amphibians which can be as big as seven inches and have “glowing eyes”. “As we say with most things you come across in a national park, whether it be a banana slug, unfamiliar mushroom, or a large toad with glowing eyes in the dead of night, please refrain from licking,” the agency wrote. The service released a picture of one of the toads captured by a motion sensor camera, staring into the lens at the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument in Arizona. According to the Oakland Zoo, some people have exploited the toad’s toxin as a psychedelic, smoking it to experience euphoria and hallucinations.

Florida Man Points Laser At Helicopter
A central Florida man faces a host of charges after deputies accused him of shooting towards two people and pointed a rifle and laser at a sheriff’s helicopter Saturday night. According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Kenneth Massey, 48, was arrested. In a tweet, the sheriff’s office said Massey told detectives that he did everything because he was “being stupid.” Massey faced two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful use of a laser device and discharging a weapon under the influence of alcohol.

5 Tips for Dealing With Debt Collectors

- Know Your Debt Collection Rights
All three kinds of debt collectors — internal collectors, third-party collectors and debt buyers — must follow the set of rules laid out in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
The FDCPA restricts the actions debt collectors can take to collect payments. While this information is a legal act, many collection agencies will disregard it in the hopes of illegally forcing you to pay the full amount of your debt quickly.
For example, one debt collector in New York was fined $60M in 2022 for running a debt collection scam via his debt collection agencies. It is illegal for debt collectors to threaten you or your family.
You can even cease all communication with your debt collector. However, that is an unwise move and can have a negative impact on the debt collection process, said Bruce McClary from the National Foundation for Credit Counseling.
“When you request to have communication completely cut off and you just want to drop off their radar, that sends them a signal that you have zero intention of paying ever, and it may accelerate some of their actions in trying to recover the debt in other ways,” McClary told The Penny Hoarder.
You have options when working with a debt collection agency on your debt. Other protections provided by the FDCPA include:
- Debt collectors are required to provide proof that you owe the debt.
- They can’t call you before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m.
- They can’t call you at work if you tell them it could put your job in jeopardy.
- While it’s legal for them to call a family member or friend to find you, a debt collector cannot give them details about your debt. And they can only call each family member or friend one time in most states.
If you are the victim of unfair debt collection practices, here are the resources you need to file a complaint:
The FDCPA does not, however, protect you from people collecting on personal debts. It only applies to third-party debt collectors.
- Know What Collectors Can and Cannot Do to Collect Debts
Ignoring a debt collection agency won’t make the amount you owe disappear. In fact, it could make your financial problems even worse. You could even end up in court if the debt collector decides to file a lawsuit against you.
There are some limitations when it comes to what debt collectors can and cannot do to get you to pay the amount you owe, however.
Can Collectors Sue Me or Garnish My Wages?
Debt collectors can serve you with a court summons to sue you in an attempt to collect a debt, which could result in wage garnishment. But they can only sue within the statute of limitations.
In most states, the statute of limitations to sue for debt is three to six years. Collectors will still continue to try to collect on the debt — in an attempt to restart the the statute of limitations — but if you’re sued past it, you could likely get the case thrown out.

The statute of limitations on a debt begins on the last date of activity on the account.
Can I Go to Jail for Being in Debt?
There are very few situations that could result in you getting arrested over an unpaid debt, according to the CFPB: The two situations that could result you in going to jail over your lump sum could be: your debt is related to criminal activity— unpaid restitution for a crime, for example — and second, if you ignore a court order. In most other situations, you won’t be arrested for unpaid debt.
In essence, so long as you don’t do anything illegal or ignore a court summons, you’ll be safe.
Further, it’s illegal for a debt collection agency to threaten you with arrest if jail time is not an actual punishment that could happen as a result of your specific debt scenario. And if you were told you’d be arrested for unpaid debt and you later find out that was false, you can file a complaint about the debt collection agency using the above chart.
Can a Debt Collector Make Me Pay a Family Member’s Debt?
If you receive a call from someone trying to locate a relative, it might be a debt collector. These calls are legal, but they can only call you once — and only to locate the debtor.
If you receive any more calls or are asked for any information other than your family member’s location, you can file a complaint against the debt collector.
Rest assured that if you didn’t co-sign for the debt in question and the person is not your spouse, you typically have no responsibility for the debt, in life or death.
What Should I Do if I Can’t Pay?
If you can’t pay the full amount you owe or the monthly minimum payment, work with your creditor to create a payment plan for the debt or seek help from a credit counseling agency.
A credit counseling agency is a nonprofit financial institution that will set a debt-management plan for you to repay your debt.
The agency pays your creditor for you and stops fees and charges on late payments, lowering your debt burden and ensuring you stay current. Through these agencies, you can usually pay off your debt in three to five years, and your credit score may even improve during that time.
- Check Their Facts
If you think a collector’s information is wrong, go with your gut. When debts get sold between companies, lots of information can get lost in the swap. And even if you’re wrong, your due diligence could work out for you in the end.
Daniel Gillaspia, attorney and owner of travel rewards website UponArriving, and his partner, Bradley, learned this when Bradley got denied for a credit card. After the denial, Bradley saw in his credit report that a $1,000 medical debt had been sold to collections, which he thought had reset the statute of limitations.
“We didn’t feel this was fair,” said Gillaspia. “So I sent a legal demand letter to the collections agency.”
It turns out the update didn’t move up the statute of limitations, and the inquiry worked in their favor.
Once the company received the demand letter, the account had to be reported as “in dispute” while it verified details. Once they agreed on the settlement amount, the company agreed to take the collections account off Bradley’s credit report.
- Keep Detailed Records
It’s important to remember that debt collectors have a job to do. They are not your allies.bIt’s up to you to keep track of their letters, emails, phone calls, and financial information.
You have a right to record phone calls with debt collectors. Just make sure you notify them before you start recording. If they refuse to be recorded, hang up and reach out via email instead so that everything is in writing.
If you forget to record a call, keep detailed notes about what you discussed. This will come in handy if you ever need to file a complaint against an abusive debt collector or have to fight in court to prove that the debt isn’t yours.
Even after you’ve made your last payment toward the debt, don’t throw those records away. You could need them again.
Raeshal Solomon, author of the “My Little Banker” series, settled an old college debt and made sure to get the settlement receipt showing her $0 balance emailed to her and sent to her home.
“In the past two years, that same debt balance has been sold to three other agencies,” Solomon said. “Every time I get a call from a new agency, I kindly get their email address and forward them a copy of my receipt. After a few days, the calls stop.”
- Take Control of the Communication Process
If the calls are incessant and you want them to stop, be sure to request the change in writing. This can be via email or a cease and desist letter sent via certified mail. The CFPB provides a series of template letters to help you communicate with debt collectors in writing.
In most cases, dealing with a debt collector might be a little unpleasant, but in those situations when a collection agency violates the law with nonstop phone calls or threats of violence, you’ll need to exercise your consumer rights and file a complaint with the CFPB.
Filing a complaint with the FTC or the CFPB will usually be enough. In extreme cases, you can either report the harassment to your local law enforcement agency or the FBI.
