James Corden Opens Up About Restaurant Incident

James Corden says he regrets making a “rude” comment while dining at New York restaurant Balthazar earlier this month.  He addressed his ban during Monday’s episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden.  Balthazar owner Keith McNally had called out Corden in an Instagram post Oct. 17, saying he “86’d Corden” from the restaurant for being “the most abusive customer to my Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago.”  McNally unbanned Corden after the star reportedly called and “apologized profusely,” but took issue with Corden again after the television personality told The New York Times he hadn’t done “anything wrong, on any level.”  On The Late Late Show, Corden claimed his wife has a “serious food allergy” and was sent the wrong food three times while they were having brunch with friends at Balthazar this month.  “As her meal came wrong to the table the third time, in the heat of the moment I made a sarcastic, rude comment about cooking it myself. It is a comment I deeply regret,” the star said.  “Here’s the truth of it, because I didn’t shout or scream — I didn’t get out of my seat, call anybody names or use derogatory language — I’ve been walking around thinking that I haven’t done anything wrong. But the truth is, I have,” he added. “I made a rude comment, and it was wrong because it was an unnecessary comment. It was ungracious to the server.”

TikTok Star Ends Up Dead On CSI: Vegas

Kentucky native, Josh Nalley, has landed the role of a lifetime. He will appear in an episode of “CSI: Vegas” that airs on Thursday, Nov. 3^rd.  “Rarely do we find an actor as well-prepared to play a corpse as Josh,” “CSI: Vegas” showrunner Jason Tracey shared. “It was a pleasure watching him work.”  Tracey added: “He’s a pro at this death thing.”  Monday was the one-year anniversary of Nalley’s first “unalive” TikTok. Since his debut in October 2021, he has garnered over 4 million likes on the social media app and gone viral for playing dead.  Mike Benson, president and CMO of CBS said, “We’re always looking for authentic, innovative, and engaging ways to create more interest for our shows.”  He continued: “For our CBS Original series CSI: Vegas, we discovered that the TikTok influencer @Living_Dead_Josh was a fan of the show, so we wanted to bring his dream to life in a ‘killer’ way that only we could do.”

Mathew Perry’s Heart Stopped For 5 Minutes!

Matthew Perry almost appeared in last year’s divisive climate change film, Don’t Look Up, if it wasn’t for one small problem: His heart stopped for five minutes. Writing in his upcoming memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, Perry opened up about missing out on a chance to star in the Adam McKay film. According to Perry, he was cast as a Republican journalist and was set to have at least three scenes with Meryl Streep. Perry even flew to Boston to meet with McKay who loved his “on-the-fly pitches” so much that they reportedly made it into the film.  However, things went south while Perry was getting surgery at a rehab in Switzerland. The actor, who’s been open about his years-long battle with addiction, was getting “some kind of weird medical device in my back” to help him deal with abdominal pain.  “I was given the shot at 11:00 a.m.,” he writes. “I woke up eleven hours later in a different hospital. Apparently, the propofol had stopped my heart. For five minutes. It wasn’t a heart attack — I didn’t flatline — but nothing had been beating. I was told that some beefy Swiss guy really didn’t want the guy from Friends dying on his table and did CPR on me for the full five minutes, beating and pounding my chest. If I hadn’t been on Friends, would he have stopped at three minutes? Did Friends save my life again? “He may have saved my life, but he also broke eight of my ribs,” he adds.

Kourtney Kardashian Buys Conan’s Beach House

After getting engaged and legally married in Santa Barbara, California, Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker now own a house there.  They bought a beach house from Conan O’Brien for $14.5 million on Friday, October 21. The oceanfront property is just over 2100 square feet with 3.5 bathrooms.  O’Brien bought the 2-bedroom home, which comes with a 2-bedroom guest house, in 2015 for less than $8 million and completely renovated it. They can now enjoy a soundproofed balcony, a two-car garage with Tesla charging station and a built-in BBQ. The deck offers a view of the ocean, and they can be on the beach in minutes with the private stairs down to the shore.  Their new neighbors are Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, who own a house just a few doors down.  Barker shares three children — son Landon, 19, daughter Alabama, 16, and former stepdaughter Atianna De La Hoya, 23 — with ex-wife Shanna Moakler. Meanwhile, Kourtney and ex Scott Disick are parents to son Mason, 12, daughter Penelope, 10, and son Reign, 7.

Meghan Markle Claims She’s Not Difficult

Meghan Markle wants the world to know that she may be direct — but never difficult.  In the latest episode of her podcast Archetypes, she welcomed guests Issa Rae and Ziwe to discuss their experiences challenging the “angry Black woman” trope — a toxic stereotype that mischaracterizes Black women as more hostile and ill-tempered than their white counterparts.  While sharing their personal experiences on the matter, Rae said she once took a friend calling her “particular” as a compliment.  “I’m particular,” Markle agreed, before explaining why it’s important for women to be direct when giving direction. “A, I think a high tide raises all ships, right? We’re all going to succeed, so let’s make sure it’s really great because it’s a shared success for everybody.”  Still, despite her directness, there’s a little voice inside her head that makes her doubt herself.  “But I also know that I find myself cowering and tiptoeing into a room. I don’t know if you ever do that,” she said. “The thing that I find the most embarrassing [is] when you’re saying a sentence and the intonation goes up like it’s a question? And you’re like, ‘Oh my God, stop!’ Stop whispering and tiptoeing around and just say what it is you need.  “You’re allowed to set a boundary, you’re allowed to be clear,” Markle added. “It does not make you demanding, it does not make you difficult. It makes you clear.”

Miley To Billy Ray:  Eew, Dad!-(Star)

Five months after the demise of his 28-year marriage, Billy Ray Cyrus has found solace for his achy breaky heart in the arms of twentysomething Aussie singer Firerose.  And now that it appears the onetime country heartthrob had popped the question, sources say the 61-year-old’s daughter Miley Cyrus is furious.  “Miley was already appalled that Billy Ray and Firerose were hooking up, so the fact that he’s stuck a ring on this girl’s finger is a real kick in the teeth,” says an insider.  Miley, 29, is super-protective of her mom, Tish, 55, adds the source, and she and her sibs were holding out for a reconciliation.  “Tish has filed for divorce before and taken him back,” says the source.  But the consensus is Miley’s dad “is acting like a jackass.”

Cows Take Over Golf Course

Authorities in Kentucky said one bovine remains on the loose after a herd of 11 escaped cows were spotted wandering a golf course.  The Louisville Metro Police Department said the 11 cows were found running loose on the Cherokee Park golf course and the surrounding area Friday, and all but four of the bovines were quickly rounded up.  Three more cattle were rounded up Saturday with the help of a volunteer cowboy. One of the captures was chronicled in a Facebook Live video by witness Tara Bassett.  The remaining cow was caught on camera in the Castlewood Avenue area, but fled before it could be captured.  Members of the public are being urged not to approach the loose cow, and to call 911 if it is spotted.

King Cobra Escapes Zoo

A Swedish zoo was closed Monday while officials searched the premises for a highly venomous king cobra that escaped from its enclosure.  The Skansen Zoo in Stockholm said the attraction was evacuated Saturday morning when zookeepers discovered the snake had escaped from its terrarium through a light fixture.  Jonas Wahlstrom, owner of the zoo, said the cobra has been nicknamed Houdini in honor of its escape artistry.  Wahlstrom said the search for the cobra was ongoing Monday morning and officials believe the snake to be hiding somewhere in a back room, far from the public areas of the zoo.  “It’s not in the visitor area, but behind the scenes,” Wahlstrom told Swedish news agency TT. “It’s cooler there and it’s lying there and resting.”  Wahlstrom said the current outside temperature in Stockholm is too cold for the snake to survive for very long outside the building.

Trampoline Fitness Record

Mexico City broke a Guinness World Record when 3,935 people participated in a 45-minute trampoline fitness class.  Claudia Sheinbaum, head of the Mexico City government, announced on Twitter that the event successfully broke the Guinness World Record for largest such class Sunday in Mexico City’s Plaza del Plinth.  Organizers said more than 4,000 people bounced on trampolines for the full time during the class, but 130 participants were disqualified, leaving the total at 3,935 people.  The attempt was witnessed by a Guinness adjudicator, who confirmed the record was set.

Waxed King Gets Caked In The Face!

Just Stop Oil activists smashed cake into the face of a King Charles III waxwork at the Madam Tussauds museum in London Monday.  The group released video of two people standing near the model before revealing their Just Stop Oil shirts and smashing the cake into its face.   “They are demanding that the government halts all new oil and gas licenses and consents,” the climate activists said in a news release.  Eilidh McFadden, from Glasgow, and Tom Johnson, from Sunderland, were identified as the individuals in the video who stepped over the rope barrier separating the model from the public.  “The science is clear. The demand is simple: just stop new oil and gas. It’s a piece of cake,” the two said.  The British group Just Stop Oil threw tomato soup at Vincent van Gogh’s “Sunflowers” in London’s National Gallery earlier this month.  Just Stop Oil activists also glued themselves to the frame of an early copy of Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” at London’s Royal Academy of Arts and to John Constable’s “The Hay Wain” in the National Gallery.

AT&T

The communications giant has thousands of available positions at all times, and many come with a nice hiring bonus. Some examples include $3,000 for a customer service rep, $3,000 for inbound call center sales and typically $5,000 for installation technicians, though some locations offer $10,000.

United Airlines

United Airlines is currently offering significant sign-on bonuses even for lower paying jobs — such as $10,000 for part-time baggage handlers. Other positions that come with sign-on bonuses are $10,000 for a facility maintenance technician and an aircraft maintenance technician.

Amazon

The retail giant regularly offers hundreds of positions with sign-on bonuses, ranging from $1,000 to $3,000. Typical opportunities include air associate, fulfillment center warehouse associate and delivery station warehouse associate.

Sysco

The food service company also offers quite a few significant signing bonuses with its jobs. Sysco’s career page shows a CDL delivery truck driver with a $15,000 bonus, as well as a warehouse order selector — no experience required! — with a $7,500 sign-on bonus.

McDonald’s

Working for the Golden Arches can come with a financial boost if you apply for the right positions in the right places. Many jobs offer a $300 sign-on bonus, including department managers, shift managers, maintenance crew and morning prep team members.

CVS

CVS offers an array of jobs with bonuses — including $10,000 for a delivery driver with a CDL, $5,000 for a medicare field sales representative, $5,000 for a maintenance technician, $5,000 for supervisors and $1,000 for a warehouse stocker. (Pro tip: Use “bonus” as your search term on the jobs page.)

Walmart

Walmart isn’t offering many bonuses right now — outside of eye-popping bonuses for pharmacists — but hiring bonuses include $1,000 for pharmacy technicians, $2,500 for an optician position, $2,000 for an HVAC tech, $1,000 for a food equipment technician and $300 for cashiers.

Marriott

The hospitality industry has been desperate for workers since the pandemic, and Marriott is no exception. The giant hotel company has positions throughout the world that offer hiring bonuses — like $1,000 for a night auditor, $500 for a specialty cook, $2,500 for a sales executive and $1,000 for a turndown attendant.

Wegmans

This grocery store chain with 109 locations, many of which are in the northeast, is currently offering $1,500 signing bonuses for a variety of jobs, including warehouse worker, distribution associate and warehouse order selector. Other bonuses include $750 for overnight stocker and $500 for an overnight associate. If you have a CDL, Wegmans is offering up to a $10,000 hiring bonus for related positions.

FedEx

The global delivery company has also recently jumped on the signing bonus bandwagon. Positions may include $5,000 for road driver, $1,000 for forklift operator and $1,000 for retail customer service associate.

Sheetz

This East Coast-based convenience store chain currently offers several jobs with sign-on bonuses from $500 for regular team members to $1,000 for supervisors.

Hilton

Like Marriott, Hilton is an international hotel chain with plenty of employment opportunities. Depending on the location, jobs with $100 to $1,000 hiring bonuses include night auditor, guest service agent, banquet set up, dishwasher, cook, steward, overnight cleaner, room attendant, massage therapist and more.

Alaska Air

United isn’t the only airline getting on the sign-on bonus bandwagon. Alaska Air offers some opportunities as well for potential candidates who live in the northwest. Positions include ground service agent with a $2,500 bonus, a ramp and customer service agent offers a $2,000 bonus, and a warehouse agent position offers $1,000.

Verizon

Verizon currently has hundreds of positions across the country with pretty nice signing bonuses. They offer $2,500 for a variety of positions, such as retail sales associate and retail sales representative. Heftier bonuses of $10,000 come into play for business sales manager and business sales account executive.

Omni

Another hotel chain with quite a few jobs with hiring bonuses is Omni Hotels and Resorts. They run the gamut from $250 for bellhop, $500 for dishwasher, $750 for maintenance engineer, $1,000 for housekeeping attendant and $3,000 for catering sales manager.

Comcast

The telecommunications corporate giant has plenty of opportunities across the country. They currently have signing bonuses for sales professionals ($2,000), installation technicians ($1,500) and retail sales professionals ($2,000), plus hundreds more.
