Kelly Clarkson Opens Up About Divorce

Kelly Clarkson says she wasn’t expecting her divorce from Brandon Blackstock.  She discussed her split during The Kelly Clarkson Show Season 2 premiere Monday.  Speaking on set in front of a virtual audience, Clarkson addressed her “dumpster fire” of a year.  “2020 has brought a lot of change also to my personal life. Definitely didn’t see anything coming that came,” she said.  Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock in June after nearly four years of marriage. The couple have two children together, River Rose, 5, and Remy Alexander, 4. Blackstock also has two kids, Savannah, 18, and Seth, 13, from his previous marriage.  “What I’m dealing with is hard, because it involves more than just my heart. It involves a lot of little hearts. We have four kids,” Clarkson said.  “And divorce is never easy. And we’re both from divorced families, so we know the best thing here is to protect our children and their little hearts,” she added.
********It’s kind of like a surprise birthday party: You open the door and a bunch of divorce attorneys yell, “SURPRISE!!!!”

She was 98.   Jackie, an astrologer and an early wrestling promoter who appeared on the “Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling” in the 1980s, died in her sleep, her son and Sylvester’s brother, Frank Stallone, confirmed on social media late Monday.  “She died in her sleep as she had wished. It was hard not to like her, she was very eccentric and flamboyant person,” Frank wrote on Instagram.  A cause of death has yet to be revealed. She was the mother of Sylvester and Frank whom she shared with her first husband, Frank Stallone Sr. She was predeceased by her daughter, the late actress Toni D’Alto, whom she shared with Anthony Filiti. She reportedly died of lung cancer in 2012 at the age of 48.

Prince Andrew Has A Sex Addiction

Prince Andrew reportedly has a “sex addiction,” a new book claims.  The upcoming book “Sex, Lies and Dirty Money by the World’s Powerful Elite,” set to release tomorrow, details his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and how he helped him get beautiful women.  The author, Ian Halperin, claims he spoke to at least a dozen of Andrew’s alleged past lovers.  “Most women painted Andrew as a perfect gent and said it was consensual,” Halperin told Page Six on Monday.  He continued: “One woman said he was a very daring lover: there were no limits to where he would go in bed … She told me, ‘Andrew rocked my world in the bedroom,’ but she felt disappointed because after that … she didn’t hear from him again.”  “One of Andrew’s ex-lovers said he had a sex addiction because he was always second to Prince Charles,” the author alleged.  Halperin added: “He compared his relationship with his brother to William and Harry. William is looked at as royal material, just like Charles, whereas he and Harry were the bad boys. This led to his playboy lifestyle.” “He wasn’t getting attention; it made him feel special to get these beautiful women in his bed,” the author claimed Andrew’s ex-lover said.
*******We always thought that being addicted to sex is like being addicted to oxygen!! Who isn’t???

Vanessa Bryant And Her Mom Have Falling Out

Vanessa Bryant called out her mother for having the “audacity” to go public with accusations that she kicked her out of her home — saying that she has not been “emotionally supportive” as she grieved her husband, Kobe Bryant, and daughter.  Vanessa slammed her mother, Sofia Urbieta Laine, for making “painful” claims about their relationship in a sitdown interview Monday with Univision reporter Dave Valadez on the program “El Gorda y La Flaca.”  She accused her daughter of forcing her out of where she was living in Irvine, California, and insisting that she return the car she used.  “She told me, ‘I need you to get out of this house.’ She also told me that she wanted her car and she wants it now,” Laine said in Spanish, as she wiped away tears.  But Vanessa claimed that her mother was playing down the help that she got from her.  “My husband and daughter passed away unexpectedly, and yet my mother had the audacity to do a television interview speaking negatively of me while shedding tears for a car and a house that were not in her name,” Vanessa said in a statement to the program.  “She has removed all her diamond jewelry, emptied the apartment I provided, and put away the furniture to make it look like she doesn’t have my support. My husband and I have supported her financially for the past 20 years, and continue to do so, in addition to her monthly alimony.”  She added that Laine “has not been physically present or emotionally supportive of my daughters or me” since the death of Kobe and 13-year-old daughter Gianna in a helicopter crash in January in Calabasas, California.  “Now I see what is most important to my mother and it’s more than painful,” she said. “I hope that everything that is coming out about our personal relationship ends here.”

Ellen’s Former Employees Not Happy About Apology

Ellen DeGeneres returned to TV after a summer plagued by a toxic-work-environment scandal. During the show’s season premiere monologue, DeGeneres apologized for what occurred behind the scenes and promised viewers she’s the person “you see on TV.”  Mixed in with her apology, however, were sarcastic jokes about how “terrific” her summer had been and how she was trying to work on her patience — or lack thereof. The result didn’t sit well with the former employees she’s accused of hurting.  “Not only did Ellen turn my trauma, turn our traumas, into a joke, she somehow managed to make this about her,” one former employee told BuzzFeed News.  “When she said, ‘Oh, my summer was great’ and that was supposed to be funny, I thought, ‘It’s funny that you had a rough summer because everyone was calling out all of the allegations of your toxic work environment and now you’re the one suffering?’” another former employee said.  “When you’re talking about people who have accused her leadership of the seriousness of sexual misconduct, I don’t think it’s appropriate to have jokes in the monologue,” a former employee told the outlet.

Black “Friends” Table Read

Sterling K. Brown played Ross Geller in a re-imagining of “Friends” with an all-black cast.  Live on Zoom last night, fans of the hit show saw it like never before. The free event, hosted by Gabrielle Union, was to benefit When We All Vote, an organization that encourages voting.  Uzo Aduba, who just won an Emmy for her role in “Mrs. America,” played Phoebe Buffay. Actress Ryan Bathe, who is married to Brown, took the role of Rachel Green, originally played by 2020 Emmy nominee Jennifer Aniston. Aisha Hinds played Monica Geller in lieu of Courteney Cox. Kendrick Sampson of “Insecure” and Jeremy Pope from Netflix’s “Hollywood” played Joey Tribbiani and Chandler Bing, roles originated by Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry.

Nicole Turns Down Duet With Keith-(Star)

He’s singing the blues!  As host of the 55th Academy of Country Music Awards, airing Sept. 16, Keith Urban hoped he could surprise viewers with a joint performance featuring his wife, Nicole Kidman.  But the Big Little Lies star, 53, quickly nixed that idea.  “Nicole has no confidence in her voice,” an industry insider says.  “It scares her to death to think about singing in front of people who do it for a living.”  Still, the country crooner, 52, tried to coax Nicole-who, says the source, happily trills around the house-by reminding her of the accolades her singing got in Moulin Rouge.  Still, the Golden Globe winner refuses to get behind the mic, leaving her husband bereft.  “Keith would love to make beautiful music together,” says the insider.  “It frustrates him that he has an unwilling partner.”

Pauly Shore:  Still Crazy After All These Years-(People)

The ‘90s comedy star survived a career implosion and coped with private grief.  Now, at 52, he’s ready to be his goofy self again.  Shore was a star at 17-and a Hollywood has-been at 29.  In 1989, when the stand-up comedian was barely out of high school, he was hired as a veejay on MTV-a gig that turned him into an overnight sensation.  His stoner, skater-bro brand of humor and his onstage persona “the Weasel” were so successful he landed his own MTV show, Totally Pauly.  By the early ‘90s he was starring in popular movies like Encino Man and Son in Law.  But by the 1996 release of his critically savaged film Bio-Dome, audiences had gotten tired of his shtick.  “Unfortunately, I took it very personally,” he says of fall from the heights of fame.  Pauly has moved on to Las Vegas, started a new podcast, got back into acting (his new comedy Guest House is out now on demand) and embraced a new perspective on his past.  These days, at 52, all he cares about is being happy again.  “I feel like myself again for the first time in many years.”

Sizzler Files For Bankruptcy

Sizzler filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy Monday, joining a long list of restaurants struggling financially amid the coronavirus pandemic.  “Many restaurant brands across the country have suffered because of COVID-19 and Sizzler USA is no exception,” Sizzler President Chris Perkins said in a statement. “Our current financial state is a direct consequence of the pandemic’s economic impact due to long-term indoor dining closures and landlords’ refusal to provide necessary rent abatements.”  The 62-year-old company hopes to complete the bankruptcy process in 120 days and keep their restaurants open during that time.  According to Restaurant Business, the brand aims to “support our employees and franchisees” amid the bankruptcy and hopes to “build a stronger future.”  The company’s more than 90 franchised restaurants will not be affected by the filing.

A Texas woman was awarded a Guinness World Record when she amassed a collection of 1,622 different varieties of lip balm.  Chelsea Jerabek of Lubbock said her actual collection of lip balm includes more than 1,800 pieces, but Guinness does not count duplicates, so the record was established at 1,622.  Jerabek said she has been collecting lip balm since she was 11 years old.  “My Aunt collects PEZ and she has this whole huge collection so you know as a kid you want to be like all the adults in your life. I think we were at Walmart or something the next day, I saw more and it just snowballed from there,” Jerabek told KCBD-TV.  The collector said she had to install special cabinets to house and display her collection.

Passenger Wears Real Snake Mask

A passenger who was spotted wearing a snake as a mask while travelling on a bus has been warned it is not a legitimate face covering.  The man was seen with a light brown serpent with diamond-shaped markings on its skin wrapped around his mouth and neck on a bus from Swinton to Manchester on Monday.  One passenger, who asked not to be named, said at first she thought the man was wearing a “funky mask” before she spotted the creature slithering over the hand rails. The reptile did not seem to be bothering anyone else, she said, adding that she found the incident “really funny”.  She said: “No one batted an eyelid.”  It is not known if he was challenged by the driver over his choice of covering.  Pictures showed the man was not wearing a mask under the snake.  See the Pic HERE.

COVID-iquette: How To Politely Decline Social Invitations Amid The Pandemic

Huffington Post

Ask Questions

If you’re on the fence about attending a birthday party or other social event, try to gather information to inform your decision.

“You have a right to ask the host if they will be implementing social distancing measures before accepting an invitation,” said Diane Gottsman, a national etiquette expert, author of “Modern Etiquette for a Better Life,” and founder of The Protocol School of Texas.

Consider calling the host and saying something like, “I’m so excited about your birthday but I’m also concerned about getting sick or bringing it home to my family.” Then ask how many people are invited, whether the gathering will be inside or outside the house and other details of the plan.

“Get serious information, so you’re making the decision with facts rather than speculation,” said Jodi R.R. Smith, president of Mannersmith Etiquette Consulting. “Once you have the information, say, ‘You know what, let me think about this, and I’ll give you a call tomorrow and let you know.’”

Share Your Decision ASAP

“As soon as you make that decision, let the other person know,” Smith advised. This is particularly important if it’s a more formal event with lots of logistics and if you had previously RSVP’d “yes” earlier in the year.

“If there’s a catering count or hotels or anything involved, then the longer you wait, the more difficult it’s going to be for the person planning and the more upset they’ll be if you change your mind,” she said. “Don’t think waiting until the last minute makes things easier. It actually makes things more difficult.”

Be Honest

It’s best to speak from the heart and simply tell the truth.

“Say something like, ‘I know I have previously RSVP’d yes to your wedding invitation but with the unexpected pandemic, circumstances have changed and unfortunately I won’t be able to make it. I will be there with you in spirit,’” Gottsman suggested.

This applies to less formal occasions as well. Be honest about what you’re uncomfortable with ― even if it’s a just a one-on-one walk.

“If you are totally not doing anything with anyone, you just have to say that,” said Smith. “Say, ‘I’m so glad to talk with you. I would love to talk to you on the phone while we both walk our dogs separately, but I’m not seeing anyone in person until we’re at the other end of these things. I hope you understand.’”

Keep It Brief

“The key is to be brief,” said Patricia Rossi, a civility expert, keynote speaker and author of “Everyday Etiquette.”

You can simply say you have a prior commitment, a family obligation has surfaced or you’re choosing to be extra careful as you are caring for an aging relative, she advised. Be sure to thank them for the invitation and make it clear that you’d be there if we weren’t in the middle of a pandemic.

“Don’t be too specific with your reason,” advised Smith. “If I say, ’I’d love to come to your party, but I’m really only comfortable in gatherings of five or six, then you’ll say, ‘Well it’s only 10, and we’ll have five in the kitchen, five in the dining room.’ But then I’ll have to say no a second or third time.”

Don’t Get Into A Debate

“No need to go into a diatribe about COVID fears and contagions, or COVID stances and philosophies,” said Rossi.

If the host pushes back on your decision or says you’re being too cautious, do your best to change the subject and exit the conversation in a timely manner.

“It’s not necessary to get into a debate,” Gottsman noted. “Your views will be different than anyone else’s, and you can say something like, ‘I respect your position, and I would appreciate it if you would respect mine. I’m being very careful and that’s how my family is navigating the situation.’”

She added that if you’re uncomfortable with the way the other person is handling the coronavirus situation, it’s perfectly fine to “take a relationship ‘pause’” amid the pandemic.

Make A Counter Offer

Just because you aren’t comfortable attending a birthday party or wedding doesn’t mean you aren’t open to other kinds of social interactions.

“If you’re doing certain things, you could counter offer and say, ‘I’d love to meet up with you for a meal, but only if there’s outdoor seating,‘” said Smith. “Or if you’re not comfortable with outdoor dining, but you are OK with takeout, then counter offer, with ‘I’d love to see you, but let’s pick up some food and go sit outside in the park or in my backyard.’ If there’s something else you’re comfortable doing, you should counter offer with that.”

You could also organize a FaceTime or Zoom call for some virtual time together.

Send A Gift

If you’re turning down an invitation to a birthday party, wedding, shower or other gift-giving occasion, etiquette rules call for you to send a present in your absence, just as you would under other circumstances.

Choose something from the registry if there is one, or opt for another thoughtful gesture if not.

“If I’m invited to a bachelorette party, maybe I won’t go, but I’ll be sure to have chocolate-covered strawberries waiting in the bride’s room,” said Smith.

Show Understanding And Compassion

In these situations, as with all of everyday life in the age of COVID-19, it’s important to be understanding and compassionate. Ultimately, etiquette is about showing respect for others.

“Everyone has different comfort levels, and much like politics and religion, this is a very volatile topic,” Gottsman said. “We social distance and follow the CDC guidelines not only for ourselves but to be respectful of other people. It’s important to remember that this is not a situation that only involves you personally. Be respectful of other people’s feelings and don’t hesitate to decline an invitation or say no to a cocktail party if it does not fit in your social distancing parameters.”

You don’t always know what’s happening in other people’s lives, so focus on your own choices.

“We should all extend honor and respect,” Rossi said. “Emotions are at an all-time high, as well as health concerns, financial stress, education of our children and longevity of our parents. All the areas of importance aren’t in balance and on shaky ground. So be kind, understanding, and helpful if possible.”
