Monica Says Bill Clinton Needs To Apologize

Monica Lewinsky got candid about her feelings toward Bill Clinton ahead of the premiere of “Impeachment: American Crime Story.”   She found herself at the heart of an impeachment scandal and public ridicule in 1998 after a friend, Linda Tripp, released details of their affair to the public. Now, the story is coming to life by way of FX’s “American Crime Story” on which Lewinsky is both the subject and a producer.  Speaking on the “Today” show Tuesday ahead of the series premiere, she explained that she’s nervous for the public to see some of her “cringeworthy,” worst judgment calls brought to life.  “I’ve really worn two hats in this project, as a producer, I’m very proud of the project. But as a subject, I’m nervous,” she told the host. “I’m nervous for people to see some of the worst moments of my life and a lot of behavior that I regret. If you remember your 20s, not that long ago, it’s pretty cringeworthy.”  She noted that “he should want to apologize” in the same way that anyone who hurts another person through their words or actions should want to make amends.   Lewinsky concluded her thoughts on the scandal by noting that she believes, if the same scandal happened today in the age of social media, cancel culture and in a post-MeToo-awareness society, things would be different.
*****Why should HE apologize??? She’s the one who flashed her butt crack!!

Big Bang Star Divorcing Again

Kaley Cuoco is slowly deleting her life of estranged husband Karl Cook’s presence, deleting his name from her Instagram bio following their breakup announcement.  The “Big Bang Theory” alum’s bio previously described her as “Mrs. @mrtancook.” It also read, “Many 4-legged kids. I play pretend. Adopt don’t shop — giddy up! Yes, Norman Productions. ‘What, like it’s hard?’”  As of Monday morning, however, her bio simply read, “Yes, Norman” after the production company she founded in 2017.  They confirmed their split Friday, the same day she filed for divorce.  “Despite a deep love and respect for one another, we have realized that our current paths have taken us in opposite directions,” they said in a joint statement to Page Six, adding that they plan “to keep this aspect of our personal life private.”  “There is no anger or animosity, quite the contrary,” the statement continued.  Cuoco was previously married to former tennis player Ryan Sweeting from 2013 to 2016.

Kanye Homeware??

Kanye West might be heading for homeware.  Following the release of his highly anticipated and long-delayed album “Donda,” he seems to have his sights set on a new endeavor: an eponymous line of home goods.  Legal documents show that his company Mascotte Holdings Inc. filed to trademark the name “Kanye West” for a myriad of home décor products.  The application, filed on Aug. 27, covers a variety of items including blankets, shower curtains, pillowcases, towels and textile wall hangings.  Perhaps West is taking a page out of his estranged wife Kim Kardashian’s book.  She filed to trademark the phrase “KKW Home” for a similar range of products in 2020, although she’s yet to cash in on categories outside of fragrances, beauty products and shapewear.  He is no stranger to the business world himself, having profited off his highly popular Yeezy designs for over a decade.
*******He also has shapewear!! He calls it the “Yeasty Girdle!!!” Oh, wait.. that’s “Yeezy!!!”

Tiger King Zookeeper Dies

Tiger King zookeeper Erik Cowie has died aged 53.  He rocketed to fame on the Netflix show Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness alongside Joe Exotic.  It was reported the Netflix star was found “lying down face down” in bed on Friday in New York City.  This was far from where he lived and worked for many years in Oklahoma.  A law enforcement source told TMZ: “There’s nothing suspicious about the death at this point, and no drugs were found on the scene, though a toxicology test will likely still be performed.” The star worked as an animal caretaker who was responsible for looking after big cats at the zoo.  Cowie continued to work at the zoo after Exotic was jailed for attempting to hire someone to kill rival Carole Baskin.  At the time, the zookeeper testified against Exotic saying he had ordered some of the zoo animals to be shot which led to a conviction.

Voices Told Man To Buy Winning Lottery Ticket

A Maryland man said he was about to leave a store when a voice inside his head told him to buy the scratch-off lottery ticket that earned him a $100,000 prize.  Nolan Steele told Maryland Lottery officials he was preparing to leave the High’s store in Carroll County after talking to a friend when a voice inside his head told him not to leave before purchasing a scratch-off ticket.  “I don’t know where it came from,” Steele said of the voice, “but I am sure glad I listened to it.”  The player selected a $10 Willy Wonka Golden Ticket scratch off from the store’s lottery vending machine and scratched the ticket off. He said he used the scanner to check if it was a winner, and the message told him to visit lottery headquarters.  “I knew something good was happening,” he said. “Usually, you only see that when you have hit something big!”

Man Grows Banana Tree In Pothole

Fed up with a pesky pothole located in the middle of a street, a Florida man decided to make a statement about road conditions by filling the cement hole with a banana tree.  Bryan Raymond of Fort Myers, Florida, planted the banana tree on Thursday night after growing frustrated with constantly filling the pothole with cement. Raymond, who owns a business on the same street where the pothole was located, told WBBH-TV that his security cameras have watched the hole repeatedly cause damage to cars.  “If we have to maintain it and make sure nobody gets hurt, we are going to put something obvious there to make sure nobody gets in the hole,” Raymond told the news outlet.  Raymond said that since the roadway is located on a private street, business owners are responsible for its maintenance, rather than the county. And since the pothole was deep enough to fit the tree, Raymond told the news outlet that it seemed like the perfect statement.  “I love it, I think it’s hilarious. We should have more of these,” Scott Shein told WBBH. “I think it is sending a message.”

Fanged Fish Pulled From Lake

A man reeled in an unusual fanged fish from a Massachusetts lake that was identified by experts as an invasive species that isn’t native to North America.  Mike Powell of Canton said he was fishing in the Canton Reservoir when he reeled in a nearly 6-pound fish with a mouth full of sharp fangs.  “Let’s be honest, I’m out here chasing big bass. To catch that when I’m not looking for it, I mean I was wearing one of these things that tells you your heart rate, thing was going through the roof,” Powell told WCVB-TV.  Wildlife experts identified the 30-inch fish as a northern snakehead, an Asian species considered invasive in North America.  “There are very few species you can confuse with snakeheads,” Todd Richards from MassWildlife said.  He said the fish was likely an illegal pet that was released into the reservoir when it became too big for its tank.

Man Fakes Tesla Crash

A man in Slidell, Louisiana, was arrested after he allegedly lied to police about getting hit by a car in a gas station parking lot on Sept. 3, according to the Slidell Police Department.   At about 4 p.m., officers were dispatched to a gas station after a man called 911 to report he was allegedly hit by a car in a “busy gas station parking lot.”   When officers arrived, they met with 47-year-old Arthur Bates Jr., who claimed a Tesla had backed into him, causing him to fall to the pavement.   Bates further alleged that the driver of the Tesla had fled the scene.   Bates complained about injuries he sustained to his back, leg and neck, prompting the responding officers to call for an ambulance and fire truck, according to the department.   Later that Friday, officers were able to locate the owner of the Tesla and spoke with the driver about the purported hit-and-run.   Officers reviewed the footage and said they found that Bates was lying.  In the video, which was published to the department’s Facebook on Sept. 6, a man believed to be Bates, wearing orange shorts and a black T-shirt is seen standing behind the Tesla.  The car reversed backward only slightly and stopped, after which the man is seen scooting closer to the vehicle.  Police said Bates later admitted to fabricating the entire incident and was arrested for filing a false police report.  See the video HERE.

7 Lunch Foods That Can Improve Your Kid’s Focus At School

Huffington Post

  1. Oranges

If your kid enjoys fruit, an orange makes an ideal school snack or lunch ingredient. “Oranges are a fantastic source of vitamin C, which is not only an antioxidant, but has also been shown to improve focus, concentration and memory,” explained Matt Scarfo, a certified trainer who specializes in fitness nutrition. “In fact, in just one regular sized orange, you can get nearly an entire day’s worth of your recommended vitamin C intake, which makes them a good option for a simple, easy snack to toss in a lunchbox that’s power-packed with nutrients.” Vitamin C also supports a healthy immune system, which is more important than ever as kids head back to school these days.

“Focusing and concentrating is a challenge on its own when kids are healthy; it’s even more difficult if they’re dealing with the symptoms of a cold or flu, and especially tough if they have to work extra hard to catch up after missing days,” Scarfo noted. “Getting the proper micronutrients from a healthy, whole-food snack such as an orange is a great way to prevent that risk.”

As an alternative, you could consider sending your child with a container of orange juice, as long as it’s 100% orange juice with no added sugar. “Including 100% OJ as a beverage provides kids with key nutrients like vitamin C,” said Lauren Manaker, a registered dietitian and cookbook author. “Plus, data shows that kids who drink 100% OJ tend to have higher physical activity levels versus non-OJ drinkers.”

  1. Canned Salmon

With its emphasis on plant-based foods and omega-3 fatty acids, the Mediterranean diet is a huge hit among adults seeking a healthier lifestyle. Luckily, many of the same principles of the Mediterranean diet also apply to school lunches that can boost academic focus.

Specifically, dietitian Monica Auslander Moreno said that canned salmon “would offer benefits related to cognition and brain development, which could then confer benefits onto school performance.” She suggests spreading it on sprouted bread with diced celery, onions and mustard.

“Salmon is one of the fish with the highest concentration of omega-3 fatty acids ― and canned salmon is a great lower-mercury alternative to canned tuna,” Moreno added. “Omega-3 fatty acids are crucial for growing brains. The addition of onions and celery would offer prebiotic fibers to nourish the gut microbiome probiotic and potentially support the immune system, and a smear of mustard may fight inflammation from its contained turmeric. The sprouted bread is a great choice as far as nourishing fiber and B vitamins and less added sugar than traditional grocery store bread.”

  1. Roast Beef

An ideal school lunch includes a balanced array of items from different food groups, including healthy carbohydrates, fruits, vegetables and protein. Protein can be accessed through many different foods, but nutritionist Brenna Thompson especially recommends roast beef for school kids.

“There are two minerals that kids need for good focus: iron and zinc. Many kids are deficient in these. A great source of both is beef. Send kids with a roast beef sandwich or pita pocket to give them a good balance of protein and carbohydrates,” Thompson said.

  1. Walnuts and fresh blueberries

As an easy and tasty alternative to store-bought trail mixes (which often appear in school lunches), pediatric nutritionist Aubrey Phelps recommends a blend of walnuts and fresh blueberries.

“This makes for a great snack or lunch addition,” she said. “The healthy omega fats in the walnuts are great for brain health, and the fat and protein keep kiddos feeling full and prevent a blood sugar spike and crash that can lead to headaches and challenges with focusing. The blueberries are full of antioxidants, which help the body run smoothly, so kids can stay focused. Plus, they add some natural sweetness.”

  1. A black bean and veggie burrito

Packed with protein and vitamins, a burrito stuffed with black beans and roasted vegetables makes a smart and satisfying replacement for a meat-based lunchtime sandwich.

“One important factor in keeping your child focused at school is packing a lunch that provides them with sustainable energy throughout the day,” said culinary dietitian Nicole Stefanow. “One great lunch option is a black bean and roasted vegetable burrito made with brown rice. According to a 2016 study, vegetable proteins such as beans and peas can be even more satiating than animal protein. Because they have both protein and fiber, beans give your meal staying power.”

  1. ‘Dips and sticks’

“From a mid-elementary school age, my kids have always packed their own lunches, because taking ownership of your nutrition is empowering and reinforces its importance,” said registered dietitian Stacey Krawczyk. When it comes to “greatest hits” from her kids’ lunches, Krawcyzk emphasizes a snack that’s both nutritious and interactive: “Bean dips, guacamole, nut butters and more are great for providing dietary fiber, healthy fats and protein, and ‘sticks’ are a great nutrient-rich pairing, whether made of veggies (carrots, celery, jicama, peppers, etc.), grains (pretzels, whole grain crackers, pita chips, etc.) or even fruits (apples, pears, etc.). The more colorful, the better!”

  1. Almond butter and berry sandwiches

Instead of the classic PB&J, nutrition specialist and author Dr. Gena E. Kadar likes the equally delicious but nutritionally superior “AB&B.”

“Upgrade old-school peanut butter and jelly to almond butter and berries! Use almond butter on a seeded whole-grain bread with mashed blueberries or thinly sliced strawberries instead of sugary jam,” Kadar said.

“Almonds are rich in essential nutrients and fats that support brain health,” Kadar said. “The berries provide polyphenols, which have been shown to support memory retention. Seeds also support brain health, as they are rich in iron, zinc and vitamin E. Also, the fiber in whole-grain bread helps to regulate blood glucose, the preferred energy source for brain cells.”
